I love that you've been using a hand mixer more lately. It's all I have and always thought I HAVE to get a stand mixer but now I can relax that that investment can wait a bit more

Love this coffee cake. I have 2 4 year old bushes and 1 two year old. I harvested (lol) a bit over 2lbs this year. It does add something nice when it comes from your own little garden.
I made this coffee cake (first try) this evening for some friends who are visiting tomorrow. I opted to use a lemon glaze instead of the cinnamon crumble. I tasted a small piece and it's SO incredibly yummy 😋 Thanks so much John for an excellent video!

I'm from Sweden and i really appreciate you using grams. I just made this cake and i'ts amazingly good, so soft and fluffy with that crisp top. My blueberries sunk to the bottom when the cake was baking, i don't know the reason for this but it still tastes good but it looks almost like a layered cake

I'm just done cooling this and trying a slice atm. It is so yummy. So soft and crunchy on top. With all the sugar, it got me a little scared. But the sweetness is just right. I was planning on covering at the 40th min but decided not to and see how it goes. When i bake this again, I think I will, so as not to be too crunchy.
Hi John. Got this in the oven right now. Made a lemon brownies yesterday and didnt have quite enough zest so I hope its OK. I only used 3/4 of the topping as we are planning desserts after Hubby's blood sugar test came back on the high side. The blueberries are high in anti oxidants and we LOVE blueberries. Thank you.

Oh yes. I will try this. I have a 30+ year old recipe from Farm Journal for blueberry coffee cake that's also delicious. You beat the egg whites & fold into batter. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

Hello, I made this wonderful cake but it turned out a little bit hard when I put it in the refrigerator, but it taste delicious. My family gave a 9.5 stars...not bad. I didn't use white sugar, I used brown dark sugar and I didn't put the qty you suggested. For me and my family it is too much sugar. Thank for your videos.

I didn't know about the making a cloud texture technique when beating in the eggs! I've always been disappointed after spending 10-15 minutes whipping my butter and sugar mix only for my cakes to be dense 😭 I knew it was probably to do with the eggs, but I didn't know you could just keep beating up it to re-fluff it~ Will need to try 😄
Thank you for this amazing coffee cake recipe. I made it and it was an enormous hit. It's very easy to put together following your hints to have the wet ingredients at room temp. The cake was buttery and light and the crumble was a crunchy contrast to the moist cake. I was surprised since I had always had the soft crumle one gets in store bought patry. ❤ I wonder what it would be like using tart cherries fresh or canned. Love your family pic ❤
I made this today using frozen blueberries and it took 85 minutes before my skewer (long toothpicks) came out clean. I think it was because of all the added liquid from ice melting. I use a scale for things like the flour, sugars and the blueberries so it was correct by weight. I think next time I will weigh out the blueberries but instead of immediately dumping into the batter, I will run them under cold water to get most the ice off and let them drain a bit first.

The texture is great though. How can I adjust the recipe to make the streusel less sweet? Alternatively, if I omit the streusel altogether, what temp and for how long should I bake it?

A lot of Americans have coffee cakes for breakfast, same as for donuts, muffins, pancakes and other pastries. It's really common in brunches too. I personally try to avoid it all the time, because the sugar makes me crash. But for a Sunday morning, I'd splurge.

I halved this recipe and made it in a loaf pan this evening. It is delicious!!

I just keep it full and use two loaf pans then can give one to the in-laws, if the wife lets me haha.

The squirrel s got our blueberries and we covered it with netting . It produced beautifully year before. It is nice to use what you grow , so awesome.

In a separate video he mentioned lightly coating your fruit in flour to prevent sinking. Hope this helps!

I make this cake every summer using freshly picked blueberries from my backyard. My family calls it blueberry buckle! It is so delicious.

I used 2.5 😀. It weighed ~150 g. And it turned out nice 😋
