So I have one of these on my 2020 701 LR model. Made a piece to cover the wiring out of 2mm white pvc sheet. The strengthening bracket holds it in place nicely and I put some double sided waterproof gorilla tape on the underside for good measure. I made the template for it out the box it came in and obviously the more care you take at this point, the better the result. The wiring stays clean and dry and the relocated plate looks much better. If anyone is really stuck i have a copy of the template I made
Good vid. Like he said, those with the Enduro/offroading, this setup will allow mud/dirt to cake up by the wires which is why I passed. You can always mod it with a plate if desired.
I switched to small LED turn signals front to back. I didn't get a chance to find out what would happen to the new ones. but from experience my KTM 690 SMC burned so i figured this would too.
Ken Moto Ok, thanks! Same here, I don’t ride in the rain on purpose. I’m considering the Motobox Slimline tail kit. It’s kind of expensive though, but looks really nice.
I don't much like the fact that it leaves all the wire right in what looks like an open Roost Collector under there, That should be closed and protecting all the wire connections. I have one on backorder but I think I'm going to have to bend up a better bracket myself. If you install this thing, I'd recommend cutting off all the quick connectors, soldering and shrink wrapping the connections, you could make the connections bulletproof by then painting them with ScotchKote. (I'm an electrician)
those are male bullet connectors, not "button head" connectors, they have female halves that they go into, shoving them into a sta-kon crimp sleeve isn't the best connection. better to just solder and shrink wrap the stock connector on and not alter the chassis harness at all But the end result looks Sweeet!
It has me buggered why in this day and age, kits like this still come with a mile of wiring and adaptor looms between lights and harness. For gods sake, just put the correct connector on the light loom. It infuriates me when I buy one of these expensive kits and its been half assed and I have to spend the day at the parts shop going through loom connectors looking for the right one.
yeah i wish they have the plug and play aspect...i think its partially not caring for customers...the fit and finish is nice...just wish it was plug and play.
Are u sure you have a 2018 model? Your backlight looks like the 2017 version? The 2018 backlight is in a square shape yours isnt. Yours really looks like the 2017 version
It's a terrible design and I really wouldn't recommend it. I bought one for my 2019 690. It exposes the cables to all the crap thrown up from the road. In addition to that, the brake light is cheap. $3 Banggood cheap. I had to re-fabricate and weld mine to ensure no crap could get to the cables, and while I was at it, I modified it to take the OEM brake light.

GNUgixxer yeah...if i was offloading id leave the stock piece on...
Did you get your bike from Scott? I just picked up a 2020. We should ride together one day. I live in Brentwood.
Can you use stock backlight with this? I know stock turnlights can be used.
Hey is this made out of steel or aluminum
Couldn’t you put the wires closer to the fuel filler, on top of the black plastic?
Nice vid. How's the turn signal on the exhaust side?

Thank you so much, 100% working on my 701 SM 2020. Its really easy installation with your tutorial. ☝️
Did you ever do anything to protect the wires from the bottom?
Not really. I wrapped it in some tough plastic. But this bike was mainly a dry weather/ track bike so it wasnt a big deal

When are you going to some riding footage, interested in how you like the new bike with all your mods. Looks great so far
soon, weather around here isn't good enough yet
That kit came with 2 brackets, did you incorporate the V- shape 1? Is it for stability?
The V bracket goes on first the. The lic plate bracket mounts on the V bracket
It dont look like you used the other one .. cant see it in the video
Cool it looks great I used the same one on my 2017 KTM 690 R 👌🏻
What muffler are you running?
Great video, thank you
Great job explaining. Have a great week.
You gotta get the smaller euro blinkers. I changed mine and they look better.
yes someday I will, you got the part number for them?
your vids are great. Great deatil and very helpful
Looks great. Informative video. Thanks for posting.
Did you have any issues with the turn signal burning from the exhaust? My stock one is practically burnt off at this point hahaha
well I ended up replacing them with a smaller kind. didn't keep the stock long enough to find out.
Which ones did you replace them with if you don't mind me asking?
@@vicmoreira7161 check out my led headlight install video..I got them from ebay.
thank you

Shiatsoup good tip but i dont ride this anywhere but dry weather or at the track so don't really matter to me.

where can i get those wiring adaptor connectors online?
just amazon
but what kind of connector? what's the name? I have no idea how to search for them haha
search "electrical connectors" itll show up its cheap
And what kind of plug the 701needs? sorry I keep asking haha
oh you can use any kind from the kit that works...not specific
Will this kit fit a 2022 701?
Yea
Helped a lot 👍🏻
Thank you. Made my install dead easy.
They should have had a white glass on the rear light.
Weight saved?
not a whole lot
Nice job with the video. Thanks.

i went thru a gang of shit for my r9t bmw. then i saw a real 10min plug n play for a ducati penigale, i wanted to take r&g to court.
yeah i wish they have the plug and play aspect...i think its partially not caring for customers...the fit and finish is nice...just wish it was plug and play.
@@motoken is that license plate holder universal ?
No, its bike model specific
Electrical tape and then zip tie it so the tape don't come off for any wiring you doing
It's really to bad that they left the bottom exposed. That's a deal breaker for me.

I'm in the USA this is how our 2018s look
and of course I'm sure, I paid for it from the dealership.
Ah, didnt know US version looks different :D In EU we also have different turn indicators for the 2018 model :D
EU guys have the better lights...I think it was already better since 2016
When suddenly rains , then the dirt will cover the rider .

for my opinion it's orrible, the best is the original without the final piece but isn't legal, in my country is not a problem, I don't know in yours.
you can get away with a lot in the US actually...depends on your luck.
great vids, im no fan of r&g.
