I know the coast guard are down 8k new recruits 😰 & after hurricane season they are releasing members who would not take the vax . Remember folks , the ones I know who will not take the vax saw a friend or loved one take it & have adverse reaction & do not feel comfortable taking it !
Yachtsman likely used his VHF radio to call for help on channel 16 which is monitored by the authorities. It is difficult or impossible to navigate through that many mangrove trees that grow in the water. He had the boat ride of his life.

Hurricanes are no joke. We were supposed to stay in Pembroke pines for Andrew in 92, but decided not to. The 50 foot tree in the backyard was gone. So was the house.
I like how the guy had his luggage with him and the console of the boat all taped up so it would get damaged. That blue tape had to be put there after the storm and the boat came to rest. I'm surprised he didn't have a cooler and a grill.
People don’t know the hell we went through during IAN. Was the scariest hurricane I’ve ever been in. Home insurances have only made things worse for home owners here.

Some people told reporters before the storm hit they were staying with their boats because that was their home and they were living out of them. They were older retired single men mostly. Sad thing is where that reporting happen the whole docks area was destroyed. Think it was fort Myers
Now to haul those hulls out. I once had to do something similar in Scottish forest - old, hard growth. A chainsaw team using a tunnelling technique to clear a path - what started as a footpath soln became a road capable of taking a 10-tonne truck!
At 1st thumbnail looks like one of those toy RC yachts laying in a lawn that met its maker with a john deere, but no that's a real boat laying on top of trees that met it's maker with a 155/mph+ cat 4 Hurricane Ian.
No problem I'll ride this cat 4 out in my boat.... Obviously one of many who didn't listen to evacuation notices.... One of the lucky few who survived being stupid.... Thank God for the US Coast guard.... Saving stupid people one lift at a time!.... Thank you for your service US Coast guard.... Be safe out there!
