The power of Mother Earth should make everyone humble. Praying for everyone.
It was so heart wrenching after watching a horrible devastation. Those who lost their lives were the most unfortunate people. My heart goes to every one who lost their lives/ property. May God gives them patience and rebuild them one more time and restart their life . Love from PAKISTAN
It’s a beautiful area, but if I lost my home or business, I’d don’t think I’d rebuild here.
Nope not a chance unless you are building a bomb shelter.
TORAH IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING
Thats some of the most expensive property in the entire world. They will absolutely 1000% rebuild that entire area all down the coast
@Brandon Jontz born and raised in Florida and live in Palm Beach County...yes hurricanes happen every year and comes with destruction.
It depends on their life stage and assets. Not many Americans around the country are interested in their insurance going up every time there's a weather event in Florida, New Orleans, etc. If people want to live there the expense should be totally on them
Doug Listin is a LEGEND!! This man rode out the storm on his ⛵ BOAT. His boat landed on the roof of a building he said he was going off pure adrenaline
I had great memories vacationing at Fort Myers. This breaks my heart to see.
Why?
And here I complaining about few fallen oak trees in front of my home in NE Florida. My heartfelt sympathy to those in despair and may God given you strength to overcome and rebuild your life.
Bless All of you that suffered through this. May the Good Lord be with you ALL. You are in my Prayers!
And you think that helps somehow?
@@foobarmaximus3506 God is the reason why.. Never turn away from Him no matter what happens in your life. You will be glad you don’t eventually. You may not know now, but walk in faith. You will be rewarded after this life on Earth.
@@justahmfvibe Might be time to get a life.
My family and friends are from Fort Myers beach so we spend a good portion of the time there every year, staying on the beach. This is absolutely devastating. Words can’t even describe. A place we love so much with such an amazing community. It’s never going to be the same. I’ve been coming here my entire life and I still can’t even comprehend that this is actually happening. My heart is broken. This is our second home and it’s so upsetting to see all the places we know and love just gone.
sorry to see this terrible loss
No big deal.
People say that same thing every decade and rebuild every decade.
Wow! A whole 3 years... such a vet
TORAH IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING
I've been here for 22 years , and you have to take the good with the bad. We will rebuild , and help others do the same.
Just stay positive, be safe, and don't lose faith.
Contractors and subs will be busy as all hell for the next couple of years. Look for the price of hardware, especially lumber and plywood to increase while the supply decreases.
Start milling all the palm trees.
Build concrete homes, much better chances to survive
Supply is already low, prices were up before this. Cool story tho.
Same thing we had in St. Maarten in Hurricane Luis in 1995, boats piled up on roadways...out of 1,200 boats in Simpson Bay Lagoon, almost 1,000 were damaged, destroyed or sunk. My family’s sailboat sunk, we were living in a house by then. The wind sounded like a speeding freight train, the house was shaking and the fully boarded up sliding glass doors were actually undulating. Out of 12 hurricanes I’ve been in that was the worst. My thoughts go out to the people of Fort Myers Beach and environs.
I was a 9 year old in 1972 when Agnes came through Virginia. And while we don't have lots of strong Hurricanes or Tropical Storms, our family evacuated to a family member's home that was on a higher elevation & sturdier. I can't remember how many were there, but there were many of us kids that had trouble sleeping because of the howl of the wind. When it was safe to go home. We were so lucky because while it flooded, the waters stopped short of our home & the search teams were happy to see us. That was just a tiny storm compared to Luis or Ian, but it was enough to teach me to NEVER take these storms lightly. Some people get lucky 'riding out' storms, but they have no idea how bad it truly can get. :p
@@tenerifecats6652 yes they can get so so bad, some people just don’t know. It’s hard to evacuate a 37 sq mile island so when hurricanes come through it’s just to hang on for dear life. I wasn’t there for Irma but that one was a monster.
Heartbreaking. Lived in Lehigh Acres for four years. I was on Ft. Myers Beach so many times. My heart is just breaking for the people that have suffered so much 😳😢🥺😞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
“As someone who has lived her three years - I haven’t seen this much devastation in my whole life” -- girl the math ain’t mathin’
Worst reporter ever! And what was she wearing🤦♀️
We made it. It was one heck of a night. Howling and rumbling. Worse then Irma back in 2017. Our studio survived and will be back on the air on Monday. Prayers to those South of us and a big thanks to all the utility workers form out of state that are here to help.
I can't understand why anyone would live near the coastline of Florida 🤦
@@lover2ed134 me neither. Fun to visit but not directly live on.
I am glad you survived. Did you all ever discuss evacuating?
@@traceejohnson290 those further inland didn’t really evacuate. I was going to shelter somewhere else but ended up staying here in the studio.
Those are just boat, car and houses, all can be acquired later...what matter is i am unharmed at all by the mercy of the 'All Mighty', i am joyful. Hallelujah! 🙏🙏
Prayers for any & ALL Thinking of the wonderful ppl., I met there last summer that were so helpful & kind! The homeless I met and spent time with on the beach-not forgotten. None forgotten. Best wishes to all.
"" new building code is needed ""
house build with wood has no chance
So sad 😞 I absolutely love that area it really sucks to see it destroyed
Stay strong Floridians. We are with you and pray for you.
It was a wonderful community, I lived there for 3 years before moving to Tampa Bay and have always missed the beach lifestyle, food, drinks and friends...but so many times always thought about how a 3 foot wave would wash across the whole island....it can be Paradise for many years but then Hell comes knocking and it's all gone...
bottom line is they call it the flood zone because it WILL FLOOD! beaches were meant to visit, not live on
I know right it's difficult to feel sorry for anyone living on a beach when they know the risk.
Just where do you get people to work for your royal ash to visit then? Fly them in for a 4 hr shift.
This is so sad, I remember visiting FMB a year ago and I recognized some of those wrecked buildings…
This is horrible and heartbreaking. Very scary situation and incredibly sad. R.I.P to all the people that lost their lives.😭😭❤❤❤
Sooooo sad.
We wanted to move there
Now we have to rethink
I feel for them all

I moved here from New Jersey 18 years ago and this is the first disaster I have seen. Just like NJ with Sandy and other horrible disasters they happen everywhere. All we can do is just PRAY
I have looked at condos for sale now and again. Mom is always asking me to get a place there but ive told her i don't have anyone to manage it. Glad i didn't make 62 yet bc i might have made a mistake. It's so beautiful there...
I lived in a place called Deltaville on the Bay for work for 6 months and we had a serious storm. The next morning there was a car on top of my boat! Lots of serious damage but not as bad as Ian.
God Bless Everyone!! 🙏🙏
News reports state that many insurance companies will no longer cover Florida properties.
In spite of the devastation, not many lives lost. Thank GOD for that. In a time like this, it should bring people together - party affiliation goes out the window. Work together to rebuild your community. I’m a native of Florida. My prayers are with all Floridians.
Well apparently the sheriff for lee County said the fatalities are In the hundreds :(
True Floridians need to humble themselves. Making fun of homelessness in other states and hating people from other states is wrong. Showing up their mansions and big boats while make fun of homelessness is not something God like. Material things can go in a blink of a eye.
@@yanzulyfx9887 😳😲 You apparently were born without a heart. If you know anything about the area, you would eat those words. Shame on You 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
@@aaronlenchak9512 That was reported yesterday morning, but as far as I know, that is unconfirmed.
@BossLady Nah. Is called check yourself and your heart. Is call don't judge others because you can became homeless too. Is called don't be a coward making fun of homelessness and help. In my grandma's time the rich helped now days they make fun and show off their luck. But anyone can became homeless not is about been lazy is about a event in your life that put your there. I'm glad is happening in Florida. I'm a floridians and know how Florida use to be. They been intoxicated with hate against poor people or people who are different.
I feel your pain. Been through 6 hurricanes. One real bad one. Without power for a month. Couldn't leave off the street for a week.
Didn’t ask
Andrew?
I was in Fort Myers between June and July. My sister Malgorzata lives there. A beautiful village. Paradise on earth. Americans believe that you will rise. Poland was destroyed many times. two years. I wish you with all my heart strength and peace in rebuilding. You have a beautiful country of cool people. I have never met so many smiling people. Optimism beats from you. Take care of people and animals you will rise. After that you will come out even stronger!
Rode the storm in a boat, that must have been quite a ride!
prayers up
Prayers.
Its beyond comprehension the total devistation these poor people are left with. I can only say i truely feel for them and hope they can get throught the long process of recovering. Sending them love and best wishes from Australia.

Road out the storm in a boat?! 🤯
Right! 😳
So many boats mostly wrecked. So much debris scattered all over. I can't imagine having stayed there through it all.
@ 0:59 really girl, did you just ask that? She's got some big hands
So sad to see this and wonder how awful it was to live through!😢😢
Whos bright idea was it to send nicole lauren plastic as to a disaster zone 🤣🤣🤣. ( At least she didnt have that crazy purple lipstick on 👍)
4 years ago I lived in Bonita Springs near to Bonita Beach...scary
Why do people live in flimsy mobile homes in hurricane zones then act surprised when they end up in the swamp clinging to a tree? And why do the news reporters always act all breathless and say "I've never seen this before in my life." Do they live under a rock? Hurricanes in Florida are commonplace and they always leave boats strewn about the streets. There's literally a HUGE used boat part / boat restoration industry in Florida that brokers hurricane insurance - salvaged yachts in that area.
I'm in 😢 I'm praying fer u all ,stay strong 💪 this shall past too 🙏 ❤️ 💔
We don't need anyone talking about pull yourself up by your bootstraps, , these people need government assistance ASAP
Beautiful to live along the water but it's a crap shoot. So sorry for all of those who have been and will continue to be affected by this disaster.
Wow i used to work on Sanibel.
My heart goes out to those who have lost their lives but what are those rich people to do? Million dollar properties, sail boats. I hope they don't ask for government help because that would be another tragedy
You are using the words Mortified and Horrifying tenses, incorrect they are verbs look it up 😮
Glad for the interview with hear Douglas Tinn - wow, he is alive and not hurt.
Beautiful Fort Meyers 😭🙏
Hello Tanya how are you doing
O m g ..Holy Jesus. I thought hurricane Sandy destroyed Long Island NY .But this is twice as bad I hope help is on the way. Soon ..May The good Lord bless you all amen 🙏
No words.

A tide wave hit Florida most of the damage was by the water
What part of 100 year storm don't you understand?
Just yes
So sorry what happened to all u who live in Fort Myers I will pray for you all God bless all of you.
What kind of a genius tries to ride out a cat 4 hurricane in a boat?
That's my island of Dominica🇩🇲 the morning after Maria in September of 2017
I went through Michael in 2018, we are still picking up the pieces. When they say evacuate do so. At least you save your life and most personal belongings. God bless them.
@Thomas King yea I've heard every reason you can think of. Number one reason,, it won't be that bad, we will be ok. Number two, we can't afford a hotel room for a night, ect. Michael was my first hurricane and a cat 5. But when I saw it as a 4 and gaining strength I packed my family and most personal things and left. With no plan other than to get away from the storm. There is no excuse. You can build a new home, you can't replace your family.
@@otisdriftwood8469 i wish everyone have the same mindset as you when it comes to mother nature..........can't compromise and there's no excuses for playing with safety....
Welcome to Florida! Please fasten seatbelts and prepare for takeoff. Today's flight looks a little bumpy.
The Mexicans Desantis sent North are safe and sound.
Gives the state and local many reasons to re vamp Fort Myers Beach.
Also all these people that live in Lee county aren’t from Lee county , so majority are unaware at the time how bad that area floods
The trailers in the Red Coconut RV Park there will be washed away. The $ million+ motorhomes right beside the beach likely evacuated on Tue or they'd be demolished but the permanent trailers back from the beach will be destroyed. This park fronts onto Ft Myers Beach & it's very expensive (up to $150/day).
Place will be like new in a year.
Anyone remember how well all those Haiti hurricane refugees were treated when they washed ashore in FL a few years back?
This is judgement
God is awesome 🙌🏽 Im thankful for the people He kept that survived thru the storm...for the souls lost, rest peacefully.
I am stunned these captains did not take boats into the caloosahatchie River..nuts
Heartbreaking! Thinking of you aLL
I always thought it was incredibly illogical having mobile homes on those islands
I have never understood why people want to live on a coast they know that hurricanes are going to hit every year. Insanity is the only word I can find.
travel here often. crazy
LORD GOD have mercy on us and save us!! Prayers for Floridians, in JESUS' name! 😥🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
God is not real otherwise he would’ve stopped this storm. Grow up
Is monster this hurricane Ian !!! Catastrophic
The shock of the hour.
He's such a type. Florida has them all. Lol. Ride out a cat 4-5 hurricane on a boat. Insane.
📢🙈 Oh MI Dio❓️My beautiful Sanibel Island 🏝 is Gone for Year's to come. Just want to CRY 😢 😭
I need 1valid reason why anyone would stay that is phsyically able to leave?! Stupid!
TORAH IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING
It's Florida.
Why is the reporter smiling?
Holy zGod it's worse than Andrew thirty years ago this is unbelievable may God have mercy on us pray and go back to God we are nothing without Him and leave the coastal cities and towns it's no longer safe to live near the sea
How do folks ride some thing out like this and you can lose ur life smh Lord be with these people
Very sad..will the government support these people, help and support them to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
So glad i don't live near the beach, i would love to bt something like this will keep me from ever moving that close to the ocean not to mention i could never afford it anyway ..
Have we all forgotten Andrew? This is what storms do.
2:05 "...I've never seen in my entire life and it absolutely breaks my heart...SAILBOATS JUST SCATTERED EVERYWHERE..."
wtf?
😆
LOL😂
Well, yeah, she's maybe 23. I'm sixty something, and have seen similar sights multiple times in my life -- Donna, Carla, Beulah, Allen, Claudette, Rita, Harvey, etc etc. Plus was raised just down the road from Galveston, and those pics of 40 foot high mountains of kindling and brick pieces that used to be buildings kind of set the bar for what to expect from a hurricane. Why is it that people can NOT know the drill: board up, set your furniture up as high as you can get it, gather together your important documents and valuables, and EVACUATE if you're on the beach or in a low spot. Nobody should have been on Sanibel, Captiva, Pine Isle, or Ft. Myers beach.
Moving to Arizona instead.
Insane devastation.
Give thanks to God for life 🙏
Got my vote
150 miles hr and gust if 199 m hr and the news saying is just 110... that was a hurricane 5 totally strong... the worse is coming every year will be stronger and I'll be ready.
Why not build houses of bricks or concrete? They would withstand any hurricane.
Every hurricane there are the people who don't want to leave, and the ones who blames the government.
You're in Florida and you act like you never heard of hurricane...common man. It's like you live up north and you denying the cold and snow
Your supposed to leave when they say evacuate!
Being IAN! Being IAN anything is possible. 🎵
This destruction is horrible!
They had plenty of warning, hopefully insurance refuse to cover. Just pack and sail ASAP
They all chose to live right on the edge of the Sea... It was only a matter of time before they got hit by a hurricane...
😢
Of course i could of told you people. Actually i am amazed it aint worse.
The reporter said she has never seen anything in her life well girlie your to young to have seen the other bad ones lmbo
