I have a video driving down Ft. Myers beach in 2013 and I used to go to Ft Myers beach as a little kid in the winter.. insane seeing everything you have seen before just washed away.

It makes more sense to leave it in it's natural state, then to keep rebuilding.
    You can't beat nature.
We owned a house 1 mile from Matlacha. I sold it a year before Ian. Best thing I ever did.

We were down in Marco Island 3 weeks ago and took a trip to Ft. Myers Beach. I was surprised to see that after 10 months it still looks really bad. I know things take time but not much other than leveling everything that was destroyed is about all that has been done. 90 % of the Island has crime scene tape around buildings with keep out on them. Not much rebuilding is going on right now. At the far south end are huge 2 story concrete townhomes by the dozens that are vacant. There were 2 restaurants open but were windowless with ceiling fans running. It was 95 degrees all week.

They should never build on barrier islands. The islands are natural buffers against hurricanes.

Unfortunately, it will take years to recover from this natural disaster. I'm sure that developers are having a field day with the remaining properties that were abandoned.

I used to live in Cocoa Beach when I was 3 years old back in 2004, we had to get out of cocoa beach, when Hurricane Charley was coming near closer to near landfall, we evacuated to Hernando, now, I live in Titusville, I went through my 4th hurricane in 2016, was hurricane Matthew, I stayed home for hurricane Matthew, and my power went out, the next day we went driving around Titusville, and saw a bunch of damage. Cocoa Beach had the following wrath of hurricane Charley. Titusville took the same following Wrath of hurricane Matthew, Matthew in 2016 did the same thing like what Charley did before. Like what HURRICANE IAN DID LAST YEAR, TAKES OVER HURRICANE CHARLEY’S PATH. When Irma hit, Irma hit several parts of Naples and Marco Island and Florida Keys and key west.

We are rooting for the people in Ft Meyers and areas that were devasted by the storm. It's important to note that DeSantis' failed policies have directed contributed the slow progress of cleaning up and rebuilding the areas as many of the workers have left Florida. Yes, the undocumented workers. These folks are the backbone of the construction industry in FL and also other states. Now, many of them are gone. This is also true in other Floridian cities like Orlando, St Petersburg, Tampa, etc. DeSantis and his GOP allies are killing FL but MAGAs are loving it.

I feel the worst for the planet! I have no pity for humans anymore. We have ruined this whole great thing we once had.

That was Satans plan…destroy our beautiful planet and humanity as well. The people that don’t care about climate change are working for the devil. We are supposed to protect and care for earth as God didn’t have to allow us to be here. The devil wants to ruin everything.
