Im working full time as a plumbing estimator while also pursuing my fashion design for disabled people dreams. The keys are patience, having a mentor, and pouncing when the time is right.
Ouch. "The banks rejected me for good reason. I had no financial intelligence." Love Daymond John.
I really clicked on the "dont quit your day job". I strongly believe in this motto of being patient in growth. Nothing is really instant. One thing I got from working on my dreams on the side, is the liberation of being able to express myself creatively. I enjoy my day job more because of the fact that I have an outlet. So those words are gold.
We loved this episode. Our favorite part was at 32:10 when Daymond says, "Everybody says you need a patent, but a trademark is more valuable than a patent... patents can get around, but you can't create another Nike." Trademarks can last forever whereas patents have a 20 year limit. Great stuff!
Basically what I'm getting form this video is successful takes time, sweat and tears. Also to never take short cuts when running a business such as taking loans but instead have the work ethic and patients to put your own money into your business.
It sound logical now that it has been said but I never thought of Marie or a Daymond having to constantly reinvent themselves, I thought once you have arrived that's it! How naive, the challenges never end and I am oh so cool with that!
Biggest takeaway: When Daymond said "Networking is one of the most powerful ways to extend your brand!" So good! Definitely reminds me that networking needs to be apart of building my business.
Biggest takeway for me is how I see a shift in online products. For years, freemium models were the range. Now, big names like Daymond are playing in the space of on-demand-for-a-fee. The pendulum is swinging in the other direction with moves like these. All of us need to take note.
Marie, you are indeed one of my most favorite people on the planet. Thanks for showing up to the world in your unique and big way, sharing your gift with the rest of us.
Damon is brilliant! I love that he so success and so humble. Great points. I also love how he quietly called out those motivational speakers who charge people money for their seminars or packages that won't bring success. Go out and hustle people!

Believe in you. Your vehicle 🚗 You can do it. Gas up and enjoy the ride. Think twice act once. Ask questions. I loved this interview. Nothing held back!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😍
I love Marie. Been following for years. Have to say, this was one of the best, real, raw interviews I've listened to. My 21-year-old daughter is now stepping out to start her own brand (takin' after her momma), and I just forwarded this to her. I hope to be listening/watching her one day on an interview like this!
Thank you Marie (and team) for bringing such amazing resources, people and inspiration to the world. And, thank your Daymond just as much!
This channel is so underrated! Needs more subs
One of the most original, authentic and outgoing people I've ever seen. Respect.
The best part of this interview that I got is, you have to do the work regardless of how it turns out. Appreciate it Ms Marie .
This woman is turning into the Oprah of RUclips......
Derrick, such a low class, negative comment for an adult. Marie knows how to connect with people. That is her gift and skill. Her success attracted Oprah to her. It's not because she knows Oprah.
Agreed! Someone's gotta fill the space she left. Exactly what I thought when I discovered Marie.
Liz Carol Erm...sorry, but I thought that was a compliment? I'm confused...she's good at her job, sort of like the way Oprah is, isn't that what was meant?
Ikr! 😆
i don't like oprah but i like Marie. i don't think what you make is much of a compliment. and that's not being mean by purpose of me.
one thing I am taking is, don't quit your day to day job unless you feel its right time.
Amit Ballal or if you do find another one in the meanwhile while you're still planning your business
Make sure you have enough that will last you for 5 years with your current salary. Keep a part-time job during the process.
This is incredible! I'm starting my own business on my own and it's so easy to get discouraged. I love hearing more and more people who remind you that success isn't an overnight thing. Thank you, Marie, for consistently being my cheerleader when I'm struggling. Love this interview. I feel like I'm getting a backstage pass to the greatest advice from the greatest business people
Now that was bulls eye: Success = Access to information. Thank you, Daymond John!
thanks for still being humble and staying true to self.
I love his book "The Power Of Broke"💕
Brandy Dawn I just purchased it and will start on it tomorrow
What I realized most is that I need to watch this 2 or 3 more times to get as much as I can from it! Thank you both for this interview. It is very helpful!
Brilliance all the way. I can't thank God enough for helping me discover Daymond John last year. He's just a total genius!!
This interview was so so great and informative. Daymond is filled with so much information. Maria you had such awesome questions.
Completely agree! A wealth of information from a normal guy with a lot of grit and determination.
I always liked Daymond. he's like the guy next door. thank you Marie this was so timely
yeah, quite a stretch between this guy and some others on that show... mindblowing really. but more people who think billionaires are evil need to hear this guy and see him.
Really informative video. Lots of information. Thanks for the inspiration. Love how natural the interviews are. Thanks!
Love this session--love you--love Daymond!! Keep up the great work!!
Overnight success is more like 15 years, that is motivating and good to reflect on when going up the success ladder thank you!
This was one of the best interview, so real, authentic and informative. I love how transparent Daymond is! thank you Marie!
I was stunned to hear that he worked as a waiter at Red Lobster for 5 years. And I loved his advice "Don't quit your day job not quite yet."
Thank you for the interview Marie! I am taking notes during every interview that you do with the guests, thank you for sharing them with us. xoxo
"No one is going to save you". Deep!
I can't agree more with people spending more money on materialism than health
Daymond's tenacity and vision to create and nurture his brand(s) despite criticism and challenges was extraordinary!! He is also able to recognize positives where others may have seen negatives. He is so inspiring.
love the video....love that Daymond John mentions that there is no knight in shining armor that is going to save you.....you just have to do the hard work....and learn everyday and from everyone...
Great interview. Great energy. Great people. Great photography. Marie, you're killin' it!
Keeping this scrappy mentality. 👏 Keeps us focused on the right things. Get the most out of everything. People show up with creativity. YES
"Every overnight success has taken 15 years," said Daymond John.
I love the energy he brings. He is a cool dude. He is already a friend in my head.
One of your best interviews!
So much amazing and inspiring information - thanks again Marie and the entire team!
Thank you Marie for a great conversation with Daymond. Love the elaboration on the philosophy of "The Power of Broke" - gives us all working individuals hope and a great mindset to keep going!
Thank you, Marie, for what you do! :)
"Success is access." And trademarking is better than a patent. Those are the 2 big things that stood out for me. I've never wanted to be "rich" even when I envision being a NewYork best author. I do want my story heard, and I want my children to know that even though I was a single full-time Mom I kept going. However, I do desire the ability should I choose, to experience all the things life has to offer without restriction. I believe being "rich" is a state of mind. And I am always going the extra mile to prove that to myself.
Great interview Marie with Daymond really enjoyed it. Many thanks Barry.
Enjoying this so much.
One of the best videos I've ever watched thank you thank you thank you so much!
I love this for so many reasons ! thank you so much !
That was a fun ride, thank you. What a story-teller!
Hi Marie and Daymond! This episode was right on time. Today, I came to my day job feeling disappointed and unfulfilled. On days like today, I do feel like quitting. Then I heard your conversation about sticking with the plan and financing it with my day job, and I was like, "OK, I can do this." I also loved the conversation about working on my business for the right reasons. I think we all want to be successful, or "stars" as Daymond put it. However, what resonated with me is that being a star not what motivated him to learn about industrial sewing machines, rather it is the idea of making customers feel good when they wear his clothes. Thank you both for such a great conversation. All the best!
Samantha Porter keep going girl! 💪💪💪
EARLY NOTIF SQUAD WHERE YOU ATTTTTT

Excellent interview !!!.....lots of great information from both of you !!! Big Thanks !!!
Absolutely love Daymond's advice. This is incredibly valuable.
Love that i came across this video. So honest and accurate.
I have loved Damian on Shark Tank for so long and now I just love him and his point of view so much more. His perspective is so amazing and refreshing, especially the idea that no matter who you are you have to keep re-inventing and learning. He, and Marie of course, are so inspiring. Thank you for this episode
Hi Na'Shawn, the Founder of Blue Heron Studios. I wanted to thank you both for this great interview and wonderful exchange. I don't quite have to words to express how this interview help push me forward. I too had Thyroid Cancer, but had to have all of mine removed. It is rare for black men like ourselves to get even such a unique condition, but I'm extremely happy knowing that you are successful still and happy Daymond. Being diagnosed since 23 for 5 years now has been a struggle, but it has taught me a lot too. You two are the positivity and truth the world needs more of. Thank you both so much for your lessons and inspiration.
This wisdom is SOOOOOOOO very helpful. "Success is access to information, not money." Thank you so very much! 🌹🌹🌹
This was good. Very informative and entertaining at the same time!!!!
Wow - Daymond - your words. Thank you both for this interview!

Always great stories to share Daymond! thank you
great interview Marie!
This is a great one! Great tips! I love your videos.
Great podcast Marie! There were so many takeaways. My favorite is, "success is accesss to information". I feel like on so many levels we as a society to do not truly have easy access to information in order to make informed decisions about our finances, relationships and health.
I love this Marie!!! Awesome!!!
We really enjoyed this! Thanks 🙏🏾👌🏾💯💰
Thank you very much for all this valuable advises and insides!
Marie...you do very well...thanks
More respect that ever for Daymond. Beyond true advice. YES. He needs to be in front of all kids to teach about money and personal responsibility.

Great interview. Newfound respect for him.
This was good information and there is so much to think about that the hard part about getting up and going so grateful to have come across this video today.
astigmatism 😂 encouraging episode...thank you!
What I took out of this interview that most impacted me was to get around like-minded people, go to the new generation of bars, gas stations, barbershops, which are social media, and network. I loved how he said he may not give the referral to his cousin or friend who is what that person needs because he has an emotional reason not to, so, therefore, he will give the referral to someone he just met or saw on his social media. Interesting!
love this! watch Sharktank all the time. loved the info about the trademark, and working our way to full time in a business vs. getting loans. Of course, love you Marie. Thanks for this! :)
Great show, very insightful, thank you
He and she are brilliant!!! Thanks to RUclips recommend .. where in the world I was not knowing these 2 amazing persons
Extremely valuable interview 🤗. Thank you
Great advice from Daymond and Marie on working through the overnight success! Give yourself the opportunity to fail hundreds more times than the "all in, balls to the wall" mentality. Awesome interview, miss 90's hip-hop!!
Great questions...and answers.
Great interview I really Daymond and the host and him have a good chemistry.... Thanks I enjoy it.
Great interview..you guys are awesome!
"Success is access to information." Yes, I love it. I'm so glad I watched this interview because I had a totally different idea of Daymond's personality. I understand now.
