I love how you really READ these books, Marie, and respond to what moves and touches you. I've read other interviews that are kind of interesting, but a shallower interaction because the interviewer is asking qauestions and giving the author a platform, but they didn't really read and engage with the book. So. Thank you!

Disappointment Panda is my hero: 'Don't hope for a life without problems, there's no such thing. Instead, hope for a life full of good problems'. That's what I need! Maybe Panda ruins the party for a while but then give so much power that you think: it was worth it to sacrifice one show. It's not important how many times you fall, what matter is that you get up one more time.

+Marni M - This book is literally none of the above. Have you read it? It's essentially just a glorified rant/preaching session in which he gives no practical advice whatsoever. Just writes some vague, conventional, armchair wisdom, and peppers it with enough profanity to make it seem edgy. This book was a complete wast of time and a total money grab.

One thing I should definitely give more fucks about... simply put- MYSELF. I always put others first and take on their stresses and worries (it’s fine in doing so) but by doing that, I don’t focus enough attention on myself and what I want to do. So for sure, I should definitely give more fucks about myself, physically and mentally.
One thing I should give 0 fucks about- what others think of me. I live my life, subconsciously, trying to impress other people, as I’m sure a lot of us do. Whether that’s posting a photo at 18:00 on a Sunday on Instagram because I know that will get the most likes, therefore in my head I have achieved something. Whether that’s going to the gym and lifting something beyond my capability with poor form because that’s and ego lift and people will think I’m stronger than I actually am.
Long story short. I need to focus on myself first and learn to love myself first before I can love someone else :)

So happy to see Mark on my show! Loved his book, thinking of rereading it again 😝 One thing I should give more of a fuck about is nourishing the positive relationships in my life. I have so many great people in my life but I often hyper focus on the negative. One thing I should give less of a fuck about is what other people think of me, or what I ASSUME others are thinking of me. I swear it's like an automated reaction in my brain to assume x or y person is thinking horrible things about me. Thanks so much for your book Mark and thanks Marie for a great interview.

  • @mina9484
    @mina9484 5 лет назад +18

    1. I should give more F to my value, to how I perceive myself, to who I am.
    2. I should absolutely stop giving a F about what anybody could think of me.
What I've learned from this episode :
    - Not giving a F means being comfortable being me.
    - I should always face the hard stuff. There's a personal satisfaction solving that problem.
    - We all have some hard stuff we do that we actually sadistically enjoy. Do that, that's your thing.
    - Always ask yourself "why ?". What you give your intention to must be worth it.
    - Be authentic.
    - Haters gonna hate. There will always be people criticizing. Cope with it. When you do things is actually when people start to talk.
    - Be comfortable with pain and hard stuff. Feel it. It's human. Then get over it.
    - Be strong.
    - Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Thanks for all this knowledge !

What someone else says/thinks is only their opinion/perspective at the moment..... It should be of no value to you whatsoever, you can do the "greatest" thing in the world and people will hate it (you) If your life depends on others "likes" you are in trouble, you will never feel safe! I have made a 5 point rule after reading his book , hope u guys appreciate:
    1. Take responsibility for your past present and future and thus dont depend unnecessarily on others and dont live in denial or play the victim card, consider pain as feedback.Remember that with great responsibility comes great strength.
    2. Develop a deeper vision for seeing high values by overcoming fear of change by dropping ego/entitlement and remember that action can be motivation too (so shut up and just do it)
    3. Good values make you process oriented and thus keep your feet grounded (oneness within is preserved)
    4. When you one within you become committed and commitment is freedom.( As you avoid giving unworthy fucks)
    5. When you are free you become part of a higher body and you live and die with fulfillment.

And what I definitely shouldn't give a fuck about is the haters and all of the negativity that has appeared recently. I realise it, but sometimes it's quite hard to ignore although there are so many wonderful people who supports me 100% too.
So, here's the thing: instead of focusing on our goals sometimes we're starting to pay attention to all of that silly things which simply distract us from our main goals. It's sad but I believe it's also possible to "grow over it".
Thanks again for the interesting video, it made my day!

To give zero fuck about how long things are taking to do. More of a fuck about the fact I am doing something that I truly believe in and love.

    Nice conversation 👍
Good advice on how to find a balance and stay balanced in life. I like the advice of asking why. I do question the mention of money and it's relationship to anything else in this conversation about life balance. Why not collect a lot of money if you can while keeping a good life balance? If you are going to participate in the system than why not do it to a level that you are comfortable with. This conversation mentioned running with your strengths. Of course opinions are our own. But, maybe you don't want to participate in any particular social system, that should be respected too. No fucks given. Then the conversation can focus on actual life and social issues. A lot of this conversation is focused on social relationships. Mark wanted to be a rock star, traval and party, but was not fulfilled by that attention, rather he wanted to write and get his work into the social space of the group he is writing for, it's all social, he was focused on his social relationship. So I wonder if the advice and observations come from social experiences and a deep need to be socially acceptable. Mark's writing may say otherwise, by indicating that it's ok to be you and do it your own way, and that's true but that is also a very wide space, of course Mark does not say copy me but when advice is given I think people will evaluate the person giving it and wonder if they take their own advice. But even being anti social and focusing only on your self and your relationship to the non human world will have it's challenges of self actualization, there's little escaping your self in life. Acceptance of self and the things I can not change. It was mentioned that this book and writing is about finding meaning, that's an important thing. But, balance also has to be found and that balance means finding a way to live with and amoung others in your community and larger society. Of course that presumes that you want to get along with others; a different option is to not get along with others and get your way through stonewalling or rape, pillage, and plunder - historically this has been a very popular way of relating to others and has been effective, indeed war is this thing and is a multibillion dollar industry today. It's the shit sandwich I suppose, the recognition that you have to do or deal with social frustration to get what you want or need. But dose it have to be that way? I don't think so, a lot of it is dependent on the social space created at all levels. Compare the Ubuntu movement ideas to the current ideas of capitalism. Different social realities will manafest different meanings to the same events and while we are all human - culture colors our relationship to events, the meaning found in events, and our ability to find and live our meaning. At some point everyone comes to understand life and social relationships and history what you do with that understanding and if you can find meaning in it is up to you. My advice, life experience, and opinion is freely given for social awareness and hopefully benefit. Have a lovely day.

This year has been a breakthrough for me - I'm finally not giving a fuck about what my family thinks of me. My whole life I've been waiting for them to understand me, accept my work, and accept who I actually am rather than who they want me to be. I realized me trying to please them was also attracting people like them into my life (more psychopaths and narcissists), Letting go of their need to love me for who I am was the biggest release of negative energy I've ever experienced. I have deeper relations with others now because of it and Im finally able to have a deep sense of happiness and well being - also i now have the strength to stop trying to please all the haters in my life. there are many who scapegoat me, but now i can finally see through it all - what a blessing. I've never heard of Mark before today, but in the interview, i agree with all he shared, as it mirrored my experience this year. Thanks Marie for always inspiring and keeping it real!

    Awesomeness. Pure awesomeness.
What I need to give more of a fuck about is definitely becoming financially independent and settled sufficient, building a great business really.
What I need to let of and not give a fuck about, is the condition of my house. I like things a certain way and I spend a lot of time in nit picky details. This time could be spent on my business.
    Much love peeps!

This book indeed knock some sense in me. I am a self help junkie and have surrounded myself with books about positivity. I believe a good follow up to this book would be Tom Rath’s, “How full is your bucket”.

Get a life purpose and comity to it and almost nothing else will matter, but your health and money, cause it supports your life purpose. I focus on very little and 90% of my life purpose, and so I have alot of peace 😊

So true about fear. Bravery is overcoming fear - not the absence of fear. If you do not feel fear you cannot over-come fear and in a very real sense can never be brave.

One of the best interviews, thank you Marie and Mark. Very refreshing and inspiring - it reframed my thinking about my "current problem"...now i rather think that it is "a life case", which needs to be sorted out. So - A) i have a power & B) I always can do something about it. Thanks!!!

    Hello Marie and Mark,
Just watched your interview and let me say it really couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m facing quite a bit of adversity and this week has been tough as a result. It’s been tough to get out of my head about this and keep it moving and this video really helped to put it all in perspective. I just ordered marks book cause I want more. Thank you so much and have a great day.

I was really really in the pain before I started to read this book. I've got some guts that I can handle all the difficulties and problems around me by reading his book. Cheers! And thanks Marie, your interview with him is awesome, and I can feel how much you actually like his book and you asked interesting questions that the readers might want to question him. It was very meaningful 30 minutes watching this video.
