Wow. Loved this video... I'm a t-shirt designer and I've been using Affinity for years and I never heard of the t-shirt designer tool... I can't believe I missed that... I also should be using the asset library feature... so many things to try out... thank you
Affinity Designer is an amazing piece of software. I've been using it for all my graphical work for about 4 years. The intuitive UI and features combined with its one-time price point makes it a great competitor to Adobe.
I almost coughed up my sip of water when I read the word "intuitive"-I guess it might be compared to something like Inkscape or GIMP? Anyway, the subpar UI aside, it's definitely a serious competitor to Adobe. There's no way I'm paying _that much_ for a piece of software _every year._
@@YanksandBritsProductions this is the best pick for you then, affinity features user-friendly interface and workflow that begginners can pick up on. I barfed on adobe illustrators counter-intuitive design which makes my work sluggish, my work time is halfed on affinity.
Kezz, thank you! I was an Envato user but, after their initial flurry of a few Affinity tutorials, those authors all retreated back to Adobe. So disappointing! So I retreated to other vector sources. Hopefully, you'll be re-energizing Envato toward Affinity. Thanks for this video/article!
Designer is still missing some key tools such as a vector eraser, knife tool, shape builder, pattern around a curve, envelope distort and warp tools. You can hack some of these using the node tools, expand stroke, divide and contour tool. You did leave out some of these as well as the Appearance pallet
Ive been using Affinity since it was in Beta. I bought each one as they came out since the prices have always been a no brainer. Im also an old time adobe user (also since most1.0 versions) and when adobe went subscription i was done with them. This was going to be my replacement. Unfortunately Affinity is very slow to add features (Like vectorizing and distortion tools) so I still end up having to go back to Adobe for some projects. I also have clients that need files in illustrator or psd and Affinity’s saves in those formats aren’t always compatible. I find the translations often have issues. I do often use illustrator and affinity together where i can make a shape very easily in affinity and then cut and paste the vectors between programs. Thanks for this list of tips, some i knew and some I didn’t. Always good to learn some new tricks.
Interesting, my most used trick is symbols and creative use of syncing / not syncing. Especially in interface design, if you do your own control elements, its better to have symbols rather then assets.
These are just a few reasons why I have unsubscribe from Adobe and went for Affinity Suite. As a professional graphic and web designer I am really happy for this switch and so is my wallet !
I really wanted to view this video as the comments were very good, however, that background noise (I think you may call it music) was extremely annoying. Can it be reposted without that background music?
Ah, newbie here to Affinity Designer & Affinity Photo, I went to open an AI file but when I saw the PDF options I THOUGHT that Designer was going to open this as a Portable Document File. YEA! TY that's fantastic to know. I am considering changing some of the Keyboard Shortcuts to match what I've know for Adobe, but will see. Per the Vector Brushes, I see that they're scalable BUT they're still RASTER images, not VECTOR, like we know a Vector brush from AI. Have to get used to that, think 1+ may be that they should create smaller file sizes. Tks!
Can vector graphics I created in the Design Persona be printed as a T-Shirt Design when I added for example shadows with the brushes in the Pixel-Persona before saving or can the Design only be printed when I used the vector brushes for the shadows?
Hi! I don't remember which one we used because the video is a bit old, but it's from our library. We’re sharing the link with you in case it’s helpful audiojungle.net/category/music Best!
Hii Need a small help..i create pattern in affinity designer.. wen i export my pattern design EPS file in affinity designer , the file size is around 200 to 300kb..how can i increase my file size upto 3 mb? Please help me..!!
Yes. You can use it with Windows 10 version 14393.0 or higher (answer found here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/affinity-photo/9nblggh35lxn?activetab=pivot:regionofsystemrequirementstab)
No. Different companies. But, all of the Affinity programs are a one time fee that is updated many times a year. Elements is a monthly/yearly fee (depending on how you subscribe).
I've moved from Illustrator to Designer and I'm well chuffed for the value for money that I get from Affinity product. The adjustment period from Adobe to Affinity was short because there's a tonne of answered questions from people online and the UI is intuitive
We just published our new Affinity Designer for Beginners | FREE COURSE, check it out: ruclips.net/video/stX0simAgVk/видео.html
Omg 😱 thank you this gives me more things to use make part 2

I do miss color replace, unless it's in there somewhere & I missed it.

Hey, that's my line :-) '...and when adobe went subscription i was done with them.'
No blends, meshes, transformation effects, node adding, etc. Definitely not the best.
Omg thank you for this video.. So excited with this application, affinity so cool. Make more video about affinity designer, photo ^^
I went through every one of these, and write them down in my book of notes. Very awesome, I learned a lot!
Glad you like them!

Used illustrator for 10+ years. Your opening statement, I actually went 'yeah, I actually agree'.
Okay the grids bit blew my mind.
Hopefully AD will make an upgrade into UX DESIGN SOFTWARE LIKE FIGMA OR XD
Affinity designer can be use for web design though.. I've tried it myself.
It was about time someone shook things on Adobe side. I hope it gets more popular with time.
Agree
Affinity Designer has an elegance about it that Adobe Illustrator just can't match.
Thank you so much for the subtitles!!! Really appreciate finding a good tutorial WITH ENG SUBS!!
Stoked you guys are doing these tutorials!
Yes this is what I wanted..!!
After a long request..
Thanks.
We listened! 🙂

Is there a tutorial on how to do text like 12:20 on video?

Try to export svg without any glitches and you soon will be back to Adobe
Funny, I do all the time without problems.
No blend tool like Illustrator
SO affinity can use all the photoshop brushes?
Yes. Affinity can load all Adobe assets.

does affinity designer have a measurement or dimension tool similar to CorelDRAW ... ??
Caveat with the AI Importing - if it has features designer doesn’t support it doesn’t work
Can you please also make an ‘Affinity Designer’ tutorial on how to create patterns and preview how they will look on a bigger canvas in real-time?
What is the title of the song in the background?
