Kind of solo artist are doing fine and groups are fading. Which is pretty standard if you look at other locations. In the 40-60s as “pop” music grew out of the Pop Standards genre it was dominated by groups, but after the 60s traditional pop groups basically died. Even groups that are essentially boy and girl groups (Jacksons, Sweet, and Runaways) were still in the “band” format or were older performs (Philly Soul groups).

(I don’t know if alot of the people denying this are very young or just ignorant to real life, fame, nepotism, money, or the meaning of privilege through connection which also means debuting in big companies. I don’t understand how this is denied like some of the comments above me.)
@mindyminslet me give it to you in layman's terms. Enhypen, BND fans are extremely lazy because they know that the company loyalists will do the work for them and that's why they lose time and time again
everything on kpop started to go downhill after 2017. i’ve been a kpop stan since 2010 so it’s been like 14 years now, and the best era of kpop was 2010-2014, not because i’ve been a stan since then, but because we had actual singers with great music and no other big deal. things started to change after 2015 cuz that’s when kpop got recognized internationally and looking at today’s kpop, you all know what happened after that 🤷🏻
This is honestly a good idea. You could instantly remove a lot of the toxicity from the entire industry by replacing the competitive element with more opportunities for different groups to interact with each other, like collab stages or other fun events.
Seriously, these music shows need to learn how to be fair, our precious idols are not overworking themselves this hard just to have there scores get manipulated by these jerks.
my biggest problem with music shows nowadays is that there is no pure live singing anymore, everyone got backtrack and autotune that help them hide bad vocals
Of course only when there is something is going on that is not in ateez their favor this channel talks about them. But what about the amazing big things they are doing like coachella and mawazine? Literally silence about those
The problems are these money hungry companies that will do anything for money. They don’t actually care about the group, they just care how much money they can make. Also, there is a huge problem with scandals lately, they can be as ridiculous as dating. Haters find the dumbest reason to hate and that creates a negative environment in the whole industry.
I agree that one of the reasons of music shows downfall is the chart manipulation, but it's not new, in my opinion the main reason of the low rating in these shows is because kpop companies are targeting the US market, then they put all their efforts and money in promote their groups on western shows rather than korean music shows that don't have much influence outside korea.
Atp There are only like 3-5 4th gen groups that actually stand out 😭 the music shows practically rigged everything just for their own benifit, not the fans. That’s why there has been so many music show scandals and controversy’s these days.
Of course HYBE is behind this. How tf did Lesserafim get a chance to perform at Coachella when they were not ready for it. Same with ILLIT, New jeans. HYBE has a lot of connections to push their product to the top shelf when the quality isn’t that good.
Its a bit hyperbole. While the music shows have many flaws what is there to replace it? There's a reason a Japanese group like XG pay thousands of dollars to promote on Korean music shows despite their main market not even being Korea. Because international Kpop fans still watch these shows if not live then through clips on Twitter, Tiktok, etc. Music shows are just one of those things that make Kpop Kpop and there's really no American or international equivalent that can replace it.
Thousands of dollars 😂😂😂 I love people's fanfics!! They promote in korean music shows because their whole agency and production is based in South Korea and their main market IS the kpop market. Lol
To the Native 🇯🇵 Pop 🎵🎶 Fans, XG is Promoted as a Group Which is Even More Superior than Actual K-Pop Groups, Have the Same Amount of International Popularity as Both BTS and Blackpink Along with Completely Disassociated with K-Pop. (Just to Appease Anti-Korean 🇯🇵 Pop 🎵🎶 Fans Only.) However to International Pop 🎵🎶 Fans at Overseas, XG Wants to be Promoted Like a Typical K-Pop Group in their Eyes. (By Taking Away Oppotunities Which Could Have Been Given to Actual But Lesser-Known K-Pop Acts Instead - Especially Appearance Slots in Music Shows & K-Pop Contents Nationwide Within South Korea.) Which Already Made Most Native 🇰🇷 Pop 🎵🎶 Fans Even More Furious - Especially the Fact that XG Refuses to Release at Least a Single Song Mostly/Almost Fully Consisting of Korean Lyrics Until Now. Although I Don't Hate All XG Members on Personal Basis, I Only Hate its Marketing Strategy of Promoting Like a K-Pop Copycat Group. The Higher-Ups of XG's Staff Members Should be Blamed for this Marketing Strategy itself.
My problem is that KPoP rarely do live performances without Autotune and vocal back tracks… we end up just listening to the pre-recorded tracks and the dancing
The late 2nd gen and early 3rd gen i always watch this show cuz artists back then perform like its a concert and really do the best alfor a live stage. But todays music show stage are just yeah, some groups are bringing back that old-school vibe in music show but problem is fans are so toxic now a days that i feel like artists don't really want to perform in any music show.
Also, they had kpop artists there too early in the morning and expected them to sing and dance around, and they only sleep like 2 to 4 hours a night! It's toxic all around.
The way the korean music shows operate is questionable, idols fair better on International shows which are more relevant and credible as they aim to break that market
I only liked kpop until shinee , exo , girls generation, super junior were in limelight . Nowadays every korean on youtube is calling themselves kpop idol . So it's has become confusing as to what's idol in korea right now
To share my opinion on this…there are some extremely talented artists that are not popular. I mean they can actually sing well live but do not have the fan numbers. The main focus now has been visuals rather than talent. So, it seems believable that whoever can BE bribed MORE significantly gets the WIN.
These shows used to be so much fun, but after a while I started to notice something wasn't right either. I stopped watching when I realized that it was a LOCK for certain Groups (and it's members) to win. This was to the point where they either didn't perform any more or just did not show up to collect at all
Kpop from were i started late 2008 till now very different bec kpop then was very popular every fan had there own like elfs etc today well its complicated to explaine
I really liked 2-3 gen K-pop groups, a lot of their MV/ choreography are very stylish, artistic and have good storytelling. You can tell the idols have gone through brutal training and are very committed and well-mannered. Those were the times when Idols interacting with different groups in various shows respectfully and professionally.
I am only standing K-pop because of BTS and black pink believe me ... I can't with all the shit going on these days I don't want to criticise any group here but 5 th gen has disappointed me the most especially hybe girl groups . The unceccearry drama and min heejin controversy. Sm bullying exo and yg mistreatment. On the top of that people are saying that BTS had bought awards with money like what the hell. Black pink Jennie being rumoured unnecessary hate to her .. also new K-pop stans have started shipping her with Kai too. KBS and other awards shows taking American groups calling only selective groups for performance, increased prices of albums and photo books concert tickets all this is too much .... Believe me kpop is becoming hollow now less talent more visual .
I miss when music shows had real battles between top artists and it was a bloodbath for fandoms 😂 now it's just mostly flavor of the month song and/or some questionable wins... when was the last time high profile comebacks battled each week?
Mannn....musicshows made the fun of this genre to literal and all about funds outside of the voting scandals, eoty shows aren't what they used to be or nothing ...what's left is the love for the music itself for me. Nothing NOTHING IS THE SAME ANYMORE everything has been touched by foul hands and it shows
I wonder if Music Bank has tried getting Wonyoung back to MC lol. I feel like she (and maybe Karina) could maybe be the only idol that could have a big effect on getting both kpop fans and the korean public to tune back into the show.
@@Aparna_dubey813 Only the first boy group to play Coachella. I don't know if you're legitimately completely ignorant or just rude from having no friends. Edit: My comment doesn't seem to be showing up, so I guess I'm editing this. Epik High is NOT a "boy group." They're not idols. They don't call themselves idols. They don't want to be called idols. They're producing music and telling stories with lyrics. They don't do choreography. They recently made a light stick as a joke. I shouldn't even need to be telling you this, but you're too ignorant.
That's why I understand why JYP don't compete for awards these days, but thanks to the fans some groups can still win. I admire the company for engaging their groups to concerts so that their popularity can still be maintained. Those music shows were already rigged since long time ago but its just starting to get exposed because there are increase in online fandom that also investigate these suspicious doings.
Music shows were so interesting back then because loud backtracks and lip syncing is forbidden even in debut showcases. Music Bank, once upon a time, is a touch cookie. If an idol wants to lip sync, there is only one reason to be able do that and that's IF THE IDOL IS REALLY SICK. Which means, they need to show proof that they are really sick and won't be able to sing live. Idol interactions are also borderless back then. Male idols can freely interact with female idols and vv. No scandal, no dating rumors will be born out of it that's why the shows like "We Got Married" was able to be aired with no huge backlash. I would also want to add that back then, winning a trophy was so credible. A group from a small company can overthrow a group from the Big 3. No streaming count can hijack the legit scores from real listeners and legit votes.
Not every group is promoted well by company, given ads for youtube mv to be recommended or given chance to perform. The win and score system is terrible since ages. But artist love to perform be any stage and many to discover them. These days even some music show views are bought. But if the artist and their fan like to see stages, especially who see it live in korea no issues. The fans of artist who really good at stage be it dance or live singing won't really complain. Big festival or small stages its all fun. 4th 5th gen fans just rely on tiktok challenge , viralism (even that is bought with playlisting) and it gets boring if their fav don't have interaction challenge with the other group or do viral challenge😅
@@donttalk372 are you missing the point on purpose or you're just plain stupid? Where did I said smaller groups can't win? Of course they can. As long as their fans work hard to get them decent digitals (like charting top 30-60 on kr platforms) + sales + SNS + votings? I have zero problem if a group with stats like that wins. But nonexistent digitals? Winning just by randomly given brodcast points? Sorry, this is a scam in my book. Give me one reason why a popular group like aespa or an artist like LYW, frequently played on the radio, would be given 0 brodcast points. But I expect logical explanation, not your 'you just hate small groups' bs.
Yup, they want to make sure Nugu groups are prohibited to get a spotlight and win and major agencies only buy their wins to show off their terrible talents
I don't care too much for music scores , I just watch my favorite group's stages and buy their album. I also hope and pray they come to my city so I can say that I've seen all my favs live at least once in my life
This is why I still prefer 1st-2nd gen KPop idols, they had more identity and they were good at being relatable and variety shows.. even different groups were interacting with one another.
The very problem of kpop is the song releases. No one will admit but it's not making any sense anymore. Kpop songs sucks. Not the same anymore. The highest complement is *"it's catchy".* The only thing that makes it to the billboard is the fans effort.
Any music competition in Korea of any kind has producer driven random scoring criteria, that all have room for manipulation and corruption for money or power, and reflects little on actual data or fan interest. It,s all back room deals. Yet the K-pop public still puts emphasis on Wins and All kills, etc. It’s a mess.
I'm not a fan of either, but I think netizens forget that ATEEZ is marketed significantly better (and quite a bit more these days) than Aespa. KQ only has a few idols to take care of whereas SM has many idols (see the whole of NCT for minor example) and a lot of legal troubles. Therefore KQ can prioritize the promotion of certain idols much better than SM can. Does anybody else here get recommended Kpop content? I do. I literally cannot escape shorts with ATEEZ's Work in the background. Whereas I literally had no idea Aespa even had a new song. I've seen ATEEZ collaborating with just about everyone physically possible to promote their song, do Aespa even do that outside of other SM artists..? I've never seen them collab like that. I don't even like Work to be honest with you. I saw it pop up, figured I'd give it a try and immediately said "Where the hell did their concept go?" Lol.. The stage outfits I saw on shorts were.. Questionable at best. It was a miss for me. But I'm willing to bet you that the short collaboration spamming they've done to try to promote it is why they outranked Aespa. Once you've listened to that song or you've left a RUclips short replaying for a minute or two you're sucked into the loop of coming across shorts with Work as the background song. Props to their marketing team, I guess? It's kind of annoying though to be honest. Glad they're doing well for themselves though.
you're argument is heavily focused around you only. aespa are doing significantly better than ateez both internationally and domestically. super nova quite literal peaked in the top 20 of billboard global, top 50 of spotfiy global and received almost 300 paks
I used to wake up and watch music shows or listen corelia radio at very late in the evening back in the days. But because of my own life, I cannot do that anymore. Also so many kpop groups that I used to listen/watch has dispanded or are in long hiatus or doing other activities (KARA, VIXX, SNSD, ANS, XUM, Neonpunch, Majors, Gugudan, KARD and so on). So I currently have no excuse to watch music shows. I will only watch them, if someone I like is performing and even if I try to get to like new groups I don´t feel them same joy as I used to feel. It would also take a lot of time and effort to learn about new groups that I don´t have them time to do so. But when I have some little extra time I try to learn a tiny pit about new idols or at least listen one new song.
I hope they continue to do Music Bank/etc even if there are no rankings or winners, because it is a way to see more content of my favorite groups. It doesn't need to be a contest; just make it performances for the purposes of advertising rounds, just like the "press junket" system in the US or the musical guess feature for talk shows. No points necessary. One reason I like them too, is because some of the music videos for Kpop groups can be really wacky and not enough fan service for my favorite members, but there tends to be fancams and closeup versions for performances, for maximum fan service of those members -- so regardless of whether the music video works out for me, I can count on lots of different versions of the choreo and looks from the music shows afterward
Their scoring system is so fishy but this happens since 2nd gen only now is more obvious. Some groups were shadow banned by KBS at that time and they couldn't promote on certain channels and obviously they couldn't win any prizes even if they were the most popular group that week. Kpop Industry is so shady and it's hard to be known internationally and worldwide if your company doesn't have connections.
The year they snubbed EXO, Music shows and Music awards shows became Null. EXO created the buzz and as soon as they realized it and started using the fans as pawns to bring more votes and engagement to their sad pathetic shows, the blatant lies on EXO and after them deciding to skip award season all together, THAT's what killed the shows, 2018, the year EXO skipped had the lowest viewership in all award shows as well as votes, and from then on it was a downhill spiral.
Who wants to see Narazo perform SHOWER for the millionth time on Music Bank ??? or see an old Korean woman sing her hit Trot song on Inkigayo ??? Plus the proportion of Boy Bands to Girl Bands is like 6 to 1 on these shows.
I thought this was going to focus on how music shows are less important because of a decline in ratings and artists promoting for shorter periods of time. There have long been accusations that shows are rigged and fans will question certain scores. The scoring is and has always been a mess
Damn during my middleschool days i would usually make accounts in Mnet, mbc etc to vote for my fav groups. I miss those days What a time it was to live in!!! Nowadays mehhhhh nowadays its more like who can get more trendy in tiktok, youtube and instagram
Music shows used to be fun and had their own charm but know it’s just all about perfection, visuals and good choreography the encores used to be fun too but if someone tries to do something fun people will hate that group/individual. The big companies also plays a role in it the smaller groups never get chance to shine and they are just at the back while the groups from big companies are in front. Heck they even get better camera work. I think kpop is trying to be more westernized which really takes the fun out from the actual kpop.
Its bound to fail since the new standard is based on "charts, streams & sales" when these 3 can easily be manipulated. Its not about the quality of the music anymore, I mean just look at the groups who are currently taking the win. The lyrics are atrocious & is meant to be easy sounding for tiktok. If y'all truly want these music shows to be more fair then I can reassure you that not even ive, idle, aespa, nct, straykids & newjeans would win. Tap in real musicians & not any of these "popular groups" would win for their music, its gonna be mostly bands & indie soloists🤷🏾♀️ actual musicians don't praise the beat nor the lyrics, they take in the WHOLE process of making the song so best believe these top groups would only get shit on once an actual musician reviews it. Some songs might get a pass but mostly, their pop songs would be shitted on.
@Sharma85 like i always said when you're trying to grow into something new, like uhhh does a Mango tree grow loose it's leaves and grow pine leaves NO, people love it when they feel understood rather than then understanding you

I understand we all like a “worked our way up” kinda story but thats not reality. Its not even a reality for many of the trainees that debut.
Thats just how life and entertainment business works (sadly).
Enhypen, BND fans are extremely lazy because they know that the company loyalists will do the work for them and that's why they lose time and time again
everything on kpop started to go downhill after 2017. i’ve been a kpop stan since 2010 so it’s been like 14 years now, and the best era of kpop was 2010-2014, not because i’ve been a stan since then, but because we had actual singers with great music and no other big deal. things started to change after 2015 cuz that’s when kpop got recognized internationally and looking at today’s kpop, you all know what happened after that 🤷🏻
Especially 90s were extremely classic kpop at that time but nowadays looks money hunger.
Here’s an idea- stop making it a competition. Music shows should just be about showcasing a comeback and leave the winning/losing to award shows.
This is honestly a good idea. You could instantly remove a lot of the toxicity from the entire industry by replacing the competitive element with more opportunities for different groups to interact with each other, like collab stages or other fun events.
But the competition is what pays their bills
Seriously, these music shows need to learn how to be fair, our precious idols are not overworking themselves this hard just to have there scores get manipulated by these jerks.
My trust in these sh*tshows will never ever recover since Dreamcatcher - Deja Vu incident!
I love RUclips, I’m from America and the music scene her is just HORRIBLE so seeing kpop shows uploading their music shows brings me joy tbh
As an African American,I agree wit you
I miss when we had shows like TRL to showcase music and artists
I agree, American music is just boring now. The “I’m so rich I …” trope is so played out.
Kpop is pretty much at the end of it popularity. I only come back to read fans debate.
4:28 in the US we call that Payola. It is really frowned upon although they use this method to claim that no monies are being exchanged.
my biggest problem with music shows nowadays is that there is no pure live singing anymore, everyone got backtrack and autotune that help them hide bad vocals
Of course only when there is something is going on that is not in ateez their favor this channel talks about them. But what about the amazing big things they are doing like coachella and mawazine? Literally silence about those
Exactly!
SO TRUE
Exactly!
this isn't about them you missed the point of the video
@@afsh9089 I made my own point being an atiny seeing my boys always talked down on this channel.
Blaming HYBE for everything, why????
Yes aespa is from hybe.. I never knew that.
Music shows are just one of those things that make Kpop Kpop and there's really no American or international equivalent that can replace it.
why u hating on xg go fond over your pretty untslented kpop girlies
Thousands of dollars 😂😂😂 I love people's fanfics!!
They promote in korean music shows because their whole agency and production is based in South Korea and their main market IS the kpop market. Lol
To the Native 🇯🇵 Pop 🎵🎶 Fans, XG is Promoted as a Group Which is Even More Superior than Actual K-Pop Groups, Have the Same Amount of International Popularity as Both BTS and Blackpink Along with Completely Disassociated with K-Pop. (Just to Appease Anti-Korean 🇯🇵 Pop 🎵🎶 Fans Only.)
However to International Pop 🎵🎶 Fans at Overseas, XG Wants to be Promoted Like a Typical K-Pop Group in their Eyes.

It's just that the everything has to be so polished and perfect now. Same with the dance practice videos just turning into performance videos.
That's why YG artists rarely go to music shows.
More expenses for artists to go there.
They should put out live, no auto tuned and no backing vocal tracks…
Not interested in K pop anymore but K dramas are definitely winning and gaining traction !!!
i watch only for the performance, not some silly school like score
I always wondered how much it costs to build the stage sets that are only used for like 5 mins
2nd and 3rd gen I miss youuuu😭
Music shows are dipping and so are award shows
I still don’t get the point of “winning music shows system” anyway, music is not a competition
Agree
You only have to look at the Eurovision Song Contest every May, which is to see who tows the establishment line the best.
Music shows rigging is not just one or two cases but right now it’s become more often thanks the fans that point it out
Also, they had kpop artists there too early in the morning and expected them to sing and dance around, and they only sleep like 2 to 4 hours a night! It's toxic all around.
When hybe group won i know they paid everything
Or you are just blinded by hate LMAO
The way the korean music shows operate is questionable, idols fair better on International shows which are more relevant and credible as they aim to break that market
there are no international shows, just morning or late night shows in America
Fare .
Even if we have foreign music shows it will still be the same
There is cheating and manipulation everywhere
music shows are scammed and digital scores are scammed too😭😭🏆 Everglow Zombie deserves to win 💛🏆😭
This was to the point where they either didn't perform any more or just did not show up to collect at all
Kpop from were i started late 2008 till now very different bec kpop then was very popular every fan had there own like elfs etc today well its complicated to explaine
kpop shows has pretty much always been scoring manipulation from people in charge of the shows due to riggings and favors
nowadays biggest problem is debuting minor talentless idols and focusing on visuals only as that is enough to make a idol viral
When AOA got robbed in queendom it seemed sus. Egotistic momentum earned more than second to last place. Something was off. 🧐
Queendom was full of good groups. If the competition is high, it is difficult to win even if they were also good.
I miss when music shows had real battles between top artists and it was a bloodbath for fandoms 😂
now it's just mostly flavor of the month song and/or some questionable wins...
when was the last time high profile comebacks battled each week?
Mannn....musicshows made the fun of this genre to literal and all about funds outside of the voting scandals, eoty shows aren't what they used to be or nothing ...what's left is the love for the music itself for me. Nothing NOTHING IS THE SAME ANYMORE everything has been touched by foul hands and it shows
I wonder if Music Bank has tried getting Wonyoung back to MC lol. I feel like she (and maybe Karina) could maybe be the only idol that could have a big effect on getting both kpop fans and the korean public to tune back into the show.
ateez ate with work

ATEEZ IS A BOY GROUP THE GROUP THAT WAS WITH AESPA ON THE SCREEN THINGY

Finally! Someone explained the downfall of music shows due to manipulation!😏

seriously..im still sore to this day for that hot garbage that The Show pulled off..
oh ateez are getting rigging allegations. 🎉 weve made it 🎉
Yup, they want to make sure Nugu groups are prohibited to get a spotlight and win and major agencies only buy their wins to show off their terrible talents
get off your high horse your favs would've sold a kidney to debut with those "terrible talents"
i feel like if someone makes a music show who is not gonna do none of this thins it will be pretty popular
Something like NPOP?
I don't care too much for music scores , I just watch my favorite group's stages and buy their album.
I also hope and pray they come to my city so I can say that I've seen all my favs live at least once in my life
I don’t know kpop today. My knowledge of them stops at bigbang and I am not interested with today’s kpop
YG decision not to promote a lot his groups in music shows is right.

2nd Gen is the most iconic kpop idol in Korean industry. 2nd Gen is the coolest k-idol 💯
Agree with you
I have the opposite. Never heard of ateez but only aespa. Which means your argument is flawed.
@@zels2816 quite the opposite, it shows that Ateez have their own, big part of the market share even if it doesn't overlap with the other group much
@zels2816 just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't of.
you're argument is heavily focused around you only. aespa are doing significantly better than ateez both internationally and domestically. super nova quite literal peaked in the top 20 of billboard global, top 50 of spotfiy global and received almost 300 paks
Also music award.. nahh bored now :(
6:12 nahh here illit’s score is supposed to be 6904
I used to wake up and watch music shows or listen corelia radio at very late in the evening back in the days.
Kpop Industry is so shady and it's hard to be known internationally and worldwide if your company doesn't have connections.
they need the Eternal Legendary Dreamcatcher ,
they will Return soon
The year they snubbed EXO, Music shows and Music awards shows became Null. EXO created the buzz and as soon as they realized it and started using the fans as pawns to bring more votes and engagement to their sad pathetic shows, the blatant lies on EXO and after them deciding to skip award season all together, THAT's what killed the shows, 2018, the year EXO skipped had the lowest viewership in all award shows as well as votes, and from then on it was a downhill spiral.

I’ve never cared for the music shows anyway.
But i think I've heya batter than seventeen mastro
