@@angelanam793 Yeah, I just noticed that how groups from big companies get so much more compared to groups from small companies. BTS didn't get their first show win until they released "I Need U" which was the starting point of their success. Twice got their first show win with "Cheer Up" in 2016 which was the year after they debuted. Blackpink got their first win right after debut. I don't want to be that person but thats why I really admire BTS, those of us who have followed kpop from early days know how rigged the Korean music shows used to be and how the Big 3 always dominated there with their money and influence but BTS being from a small, bankrupt company broke that cycle and gave hope to other idols from small companies that anything is possible💜

Its not an opinion because i didnt even mention the 36$. Regarding that however, there should be a set price that isnt lowered or raised based on group popularity. Thats the unfair part considering everyone pays the same entry fee. $300 should be the set pay for appearing. Again, The staff who work at the stations are employees who are paid a salary daily. idols companies are responsible for the bulk of the idols pay. Most are in debt to them. The issues lay with the company. Modhaus for example were able to pay tripleS members in only 2 years because they sell photocard objeckts and the cosmo app to vote for things. it has been super profitable and the 24 members dont have debt now and make a salary. others dont see profit for atleast 5 years. fromis 9 for example.

Reminds me of when Blackpink released their last album, they only did a few performances before they stopped promotions to prepare for their tour. Now we know why. Why exhaust them when they had nothing to gain by promoting nonstop on those shows, whereas they were making millions off of their tour. It's basically an award show for Koreans and with some inclusion of other regions in Asia, it's a faulty show and people are now seeing how kpop itself has issues with its system.

Honestly, the old way of promotion is still something I’m more used to. Might be because I’ve been a fan since 2011, but the promotion should last way longer. Though I have a feeling with how times have changed, that the old way of promoting is not going to survive. New songs have to be released within weeks of each other. It sucks.

@@henrymarenth8645 The thing is, they don't have to be paid at all. Idols companies are paying that large fee to go someone else's broadcasting studio , where they are providing idols catering, room, security, and air time for them to promote a song. Thats like paying to use someone's toilet, then in return they pay you for flushing. Which they don't have to do because it's a service you paid for. It's a small incentive

I didn't even think they were getting paid to be honest. The broadcast shows are promoting them very well. These shows are how you get to see idols perform at events outside of award shows that happen once a year. I have a genuine question why did people think idols were getting paid at all or a lot of money? Agencies have to pay for promotions, music shows are promotions the same way concept photos, pre-release singles, festivals, and tours are promotions. All of these activities cost money but if you put high quality work forward eventually the effort will pay off in forms of the group getting attention/reaching a bigger audience.

    • @vere1360

that's what i'm wondering too.. shouldn't it be obvious they don't get payed alot/at all for promotions? Like if you want to be on a show, you pay the show.. if the show wants you to be on the show, the show pays you.. and in the case of promotions the groups want to be on the show, they are paying the show for exposure.. how are people so surprised about this?

hahaha, i am backreading the comments and found it funny , that some fans just found out about this, i don't know why, but its kind a simple why music shows are expensive
first expense = Tax , broadcast station pays tax to the South Korean government, the bigger revenue the broadcast station has the higher the tax
second expense = broadcast license, in order to watch it and air it, you need to pay a license to have rights to air it in South Korea
third expense = Building Lease, i don't know about it, but most companies just lease the building for a certain number of years then they renew the lease if its up
fourth expense = logistics, in order to for the production equipment to be delivered
fifth expense = production equipment's, a studio equipment is different from a consumer equipment, fee is higher when using a commercial equipment's
sixth expense = production crew, c'mon this is common sense, there a lot of employees in a broadcasting station, and they have salaries that put food on the table
seventh expense = backstage crew, these are your make up artists, PA, etc.. they get payed too,
every year these expense increase, kind of inflation
what happens if one increase, it has domino effect on each expense, I'm pretty sure, employees get increase too every year, they are just not letting you know
these expense could take millions, if there low advertisements on each program of the broadcasting station, where do they put the burden,
that's right to the agencies of the artist,
a deal will take place in order to get a slot on the show
this in return will add on the expense of the agency, then the agency will surely discuss this with the artist's and put in contract
if the artist signs, we are assuming they read the contract
but this is where it gets sad, because for the artist's it will be a hit or miss,
if the artist is gifted but presented with not so well composed music, this will have effect on the result
if the artist got lucky with a nicely composed music but the artist did not do well, this will have effect on the result
if everything comes into place, the artist will be lucky and be like BTS
these are the expense in the background
for fans, so support your biases, and buy their merchandise, as will help them lower their debts and encourage them to not loose hope
for artist whoever is reading this, carefully select the choice of music you will use, because this will make or break your career, this will help your debt situation
    see yah!
    😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

These 50000 Won ($36) is more likely getting a discount for their food, drink and transportation expenses for the day. In reality, groups and companies pay a LOT more than the 10 Mil Won (around $7000) per week expenses mentioned here, to appear on variety, reality and radio shows as promotion. The music shows are a gateway to the the rest of the TV world for idols and groups. And to their survival. So they're getting paid a lot of money for the privilege.

Not to mention idols (and most k-artists) now rarely appears in tv cable’s variety shows be it mbc, mnet, sbs, kbs or tvn. Most of them either starts a variety series on their youtube channel or a production team approach them to start a new channel.

I laugh a bit thinking why idols cry when they get their win. It's because they have to treat producers/people to dinner with their profit of only $36 while spending $7000
Maybe that is the reason why, some idol groups are going global having foreign members so they could gather more fans from their foreign members' country.
