  • In this relieving self-massage, we focus on the deltoid muscle. Our deltoid muscles enable us to lift and rotate our arms at the shoulder joint, and they provide stability for us when we sit upright and walk. Learn how to massage tension from these often overworked muscles. I’ll also teach you active myofascial release techniques to relax and lengthen the anterior and lateral deltoid fibers, which tend to become short and tight as a result of our flexion-addicted lifestyles. So have a comfortable seat and join me for this delightful 7-minute self-massage.

    Thank you Miss Rachel, i have been doing the massage for a week just before my physical therapy for my damaged right arm. The massage does help 💪. I am actually working with a physical therapist who gives me an arm massage before a session. My x-rays does show arthritis in that right shoulder. I still have 4 more weeks of therapy, but so far there has been improvements.

    I found this one looking for some help on fixing my shoulder up. I did this after working a night shift and once I was done my shoulder actually hurt quite a bit. I thought I had messed up, I took some Advil and went to bed. When I got up this afternoon I was surprised at how much better my shoulder felt. It was tons better than before the massage. So I don't know if that might be normal (Or at least normal for me) but it definitely helped quite a bit after resting it post massage.

    Is there any massages or rehab you'd suggest for a slightly torn teres minor? On the front side my Cephalic vein feels like its getting pinched as well, I had surgery and did rehab for 8 months about a year ago. Any suggestions would be awesome!

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  4 года назад

      Try this out: ruclips.net/video/81CraDBvH-4/видео.html - particularly the subscapularis release. What you can do is focus on applying pressure with your fingers over teres, rather than your thumb on subscapularis. While you're there, palpate teres major and infraspinatus - they could probably use some work too.

    I workout a lot so my muscle are pretty tense. So, I kind of had a hard time really loosening up the muscle when it came to the delt massage. Any recommendations for getting around this?

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  4 года назад +1

      It is super important to stretch after every workout. It's great to build strength, but you don't want the muscle to get so tight that it loses range of motion. In addition to stretching, try to practice this self massage at least three times a week.

      Tom Kurts book explains
      He recommends avoiding stretching altogether until you have normalised muscle tension throughout your body and are feeling comfortable.
      Stretching before you have normalised muscle tension can lead to even more tightness.

      You can try using a massage ball or lacrosse ball between your shoulder and a wall. You just lean into the ball and roll it around on your shoulder.

    I would like to ask if I have an irritated tendon of deltoid...is it ok to massage it? Cause i read never massage a tendon with a possible tear.thanks

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  2 года назад

      It depends on the severity of the injury. If you're not sure, I recommend seeing your doctor for a proper diagnosis, so that you can make informed decisions regarding treatment, including self-massage.

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660

      I really can't say. It would depend on the specific location and severity of the arthritis, as well as various other factors. Why not try it out and see?

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  2 года назад

      If you're referring to twitching from muscle fatigue, then yes, this could be very helpful. Resting, and reducing general tension can help as well.
