I wanted to say that a textless chains of Mephistopheles would be the first reprint of a card on the reserved list in 14 years and therefore probably a great news for legacy because of the implication But then I remembered that time they printed proxies

I am obsessed with textless cards, a lot of people saw the meme textless deck by Reb Bobcat, I am about 95% of the way done with making that deck. I think some of them for classic cards like Wrath or Bolt are iconic and great. I think ones for cards nobody knows the text of are hilarious, and I think it being a uniquely magic thing to print and that most of them look sick means they’re very cool to collect
I love textless promos. The urza’s sage one is super chilled if you’ve spent any amount of time exposed to it in any of the eternal formats, no worries about forgetting triggers.

I think chains is the best card to make textless because the text on it requires a flow chart, but once you know how it works it's actually super easy.
hot take : everybody remembers the chapters on Urza's Saga (cuz everybody is used to the little game of using the second activated ability in response to the third chapter's trigger) and chains of mephistopheles' complexity is exagerated, it's not as easy to remember because it sees less play but when you actually play with it it's somewhat intuitive
Textless promos are awesome. I played 4 textless cryptics back in the day, and it was funny to watch good players lose their minds from the awesomeness and bad players lose their minds because they didn't know what one of the best cards in modern did.
Nothing wrong with Textless cards as long as they're iconic cards that everyone knows. They really should do a secret lair of "iconic" textless cards like Storm Crow or Colossal Dreadmaw.
I like textless promos of fairly straightforward cards, just like how I like the Japanese art planeswalkers and mystical archive cards. I’ll never seriously consider keeping a textless Chains or Urza’s Saga.
I don't get what's confusing about Chains? 1. Is it your draw phase? 2. Is it the first card you've drawn? 3. Then do nothing. 4. Otherwise Discard a card instead. 5. If you discarded a card due to Chains effect, draw a card, this does not retrigger Chains. 6. If you can't discard a card, for any reason, mill a card instead. You do not draw a card. You still draw for turn, all other draws are rummage, and if you can't rummage, then you mill a card. It's super easy to remember.
People get mad at textless promos but its art the one place form beats function on some level textless lightning bolt is the most fun and flavorfull spell.
I am a big defender of textless cards, the cryptic command is very cool to me. This urza’s saga one is rediculous, no one knows what saga’s do, let alone all the abilities. Did you know you can find artifacts that cost 1 and 0 exactly, but not one that costs x? Or lotus bloom? People will forget all the time.

I like the idea of textless cards, but for cards that are almost universally understood like basic lands, sol ring, swords to plowshares or doom blade. But on modal cards, things with multiple abilities or triggers it’s not ok. People already miss their triggers and misread cards when they have text on them.
For now people (especially legacy players) won't have an issue remembering saga. But yea, once it stops being meta it'll probably replay the textless cryptic situation all over again.
My opinion on full art cards are no different than foreign language cards. Feel free to play them, but be ready to have a readable copy or image for the table

I have no issues with Textless promos because I usually have the original card near by. I am forgetful and would forget all the text asap.
Rule 0: if you have a textless promo thats awesome, love it, arts great. Please have the text version in your deck box or on your phone to pull up
Urza’s Saga is much easier to remember than Cryptic Command, especially if also have the token for the 2nd chapter.

Obviously the reason it needs a flow chart is that the nodes are the links in the chains. Right in the name.
