Junkyard Rescue 2 Door Fairmont Saved From The Crusher Will it Start?

- Опубликовано: 15 ноя 2024
- After saving 5 different Fox Body chassis cars from the crusher a few months back we have had absolutely no luck getting the first 2 to from the junkyard running. Hopefully third time is a charm with this 78 Ford Fairmont 2 door Sedan (box top). It has a 200 inline six cylinder engine that is built off the same engine platform that the old Falcon's had back in the day , and the new Australian Falcon's Barra engine is based on. The area that we bought these cars from was very swampy and it appears that these cars may have spent some time under water at some point. Hope you enjoy the video.

Your family is so much fun. I love watching you all.
Hello, Sleeperdude family good show always good
Thank you
It’s never a failure when it’s a fun family learning experience.
Rocky is a national treasure, but Granny is my favorite. Give her love!
For sure
I have a feeling ralphie is going to own his own industrial cleaning business when he's older
You might be right
If so it would be " Ralph cleaning industries and associates",i know were to look at first thoughts.🤙😎
Ralphie and Rocky cleaning & cutting LLC
He’ll run it out of his corvette!
Crazy story when I was younger my dad worked for a crane company and worked out of town a lot. On the weekends the family that owned L.A awesome stayed in the room next to us when we would go visit pops. A few years later he sold the patent to L.A awesome and became a multi millionaire.
Your kids' friends at school must be very jealous with all the fun they have. Thank you for giving your children a fabulous life!
Yeah maybe so
What other kid his age gets to drive cars? Even in Rural Tennessee?
@@Joemantlerin rural Tennessee most all of us drove before 12. Lol!
@@JWimpy That cannot be said enough.
I learned to drive at 10. We lived in the city, too. I learned on my Dad's 36 Chevy. He walked to work and left the car at home; so I fooled around with the car. Mom didn't know, but I was very careful, too. At 12, I was chauffeuring my Dad around in his newly acquired '41 Buick. I never had a fender bender until I was an adult.
My Mondays wouldn’t be complete without this genuine, family based, laugh show. Keep it you Josh and crew ❤
Looks like the ole Fairmont bought the farm. May she rest in pieces.
🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely love the father/son banter and fooling with eachother 😂 reminds me when I was younger with my dad. Thanks for all you do buddy!
Man. Your kids are living a great life. Good job mom and dad. Life is good.
It will run. Come on !!!! I got faith. In you guys !!!!! I do the same stuff
Well my Monday just got better. A 1hr 20min Sleeperdude Fam video. :)
Hope you enjoyed it!
This is my favorite RUclips channel of all time!!!!
Wawa hooking the tow strap to the tank strap was the best!🤣🤣🤣
She’s too funny
Your animals make up half of your RUclips especially Rocky great job to you and your family
Love yah guys....always waiting on the next episode from either channel
Awesome thank you
The Fairmont was always one of my favorite cars. My mom had a wagon.
Awesome thanks
Okay. You have bought 4 cars from the junkyard. 1 of 3 isn't really bad Josh. If you decide to replace the flex plate I would love to see that. You all brighten my day. Stay safe
Thank you 😊
He got 5 out of that junkyard the blue no engine or transmission
Our daughter was thrilled squeezy had the shirt on she sent her!! Made her week!!!
My favorite thing on the old cars, the wing windows. I can't wait to see what Wawa gets for her first car.
Yes we love them too. We have been looking
Well the square body blazer would be fun... maybe not a good idea though Dad, I remember the pretty girl that drove the early bronco in highschool you may not want her to get that much attention lol
Can't forget about the good neighbors Mike! 🙏
Yes he is the best
Hooray! Now I've just got to stay awake long enough to watch it to the end. I love the will it start videos. Thank you, for all the pleasure you and your family give this old lady.
Hope you enjoy!
This one too, 😊.
Wawa sitting in the car giving you the thumbs up when you said the gas tank is above your head was priceless. You can tell she has the heart of a comedian.
If the exhaust is really plugged the back pressure will prevent proper intake.
Just a thought. Love the channel keep it up.
Watch it to the end and you will see that it was more than likely the timing due to the timing chain and not enough adjustment on the distributor to make up for it. 😮
This Family affair is working. Can’t believe a 6 Cylinder in a Ford would not go. Maybe next time. Thanks for sharing!
One can never have enough Fairmonts!

YEAH, another Fairmont type vehicle. I'm so stoked!
Same here!
Love Mondays with sleeperdude fam....
Watching from Canada 🇨🇦 windsor Ontario.
Awesome thank you
As you are this far in, maybe the best next step is pull both engines (box-top and seized black) and start making one engine out of two. That would also give you the opportunity to closely inspect internals like bearings etc. and give you a (hopefully) better flex plate.
I'dd love that. Wawa and Ralphie can learn so much and we too. i say lets gooo
Even when they don't start, your videos are great entertainment. As always, thank you for sharing! Love you all.
Thank you so much!
I think its awesome your giving your kids so much life skills
I hope so
I’m extremely impressed by the fact that the kids have been exposed to the Electric Light Orchestra!
Looks like you have justification to modify the box top as well!
Thank you I try to introduce them to things that kids their age Don’t know about
imposible to get board watching these vidios grate family grate cars frankie bedford uk
Thank you
Bought a lot of cars from the junkyard in my day. Always bought wrecks because you knew they ran before the accident. Love watching you and your family wrenching. My first 2dr Falcon was a 1961 I bought it off a kid in shop class in 1968 for $10.00 sight unseen. He said the motor was blown. This was a Friday got into it with a blown piston. Went to the local wrecking yard and bought a piston and rod. Put it all together and drove it to school Monday morning. My other Falcon was a 2dr 1964 V8 260 with a 3pd column shift that was a sweet ride. I would laydown rubber a block long. I could go on and on about all the rides I had. Keep on doing what your doing.
Thisanagoodaalookingstarhear & Sumindawuninposabe are now common phrases in our household!!! Thanks for bringing a little Tennessee to Indiana! Keep up the hard work - AND phrases too.
That’s awesome
Everytime we get a new sleeperdude video it's like Christmas and 4th of July balled up together we got you playing on 2 phones and the big TV in the living room thank you guys so much for the best show ever
I love the old cars with the wing windows, something that is no longer on cars and trucks today
Also they was the air conditioner units back in the day, if your car didn't have a/c
Yes !!!!!
The LTD wagon has always been my favorite car you had. I'm looking forward to seeing that one run soon, hopefully it will run.
Awesome thank you
oooohhh...1 flex plate away from being a runner...? Maybe the tiny hands will do it.
Good singing..the Sleeperdude's " The sound of music."
Still a great episode! You all are awesome! Can't wait to see what you do with it next!
Fun and entertaining family involvement! And I got to see my favorite pet the black kitty!!! The new baby goat is precious also.
Another Good'un Folks!!!! These videos just keep getting better and better.. I'm with you guys all the way to a million subscribers 🤟😏👍
Thanks so much
Just watching your channel makes life better, Thanks for sharing your talents with the world.
Nice job. You definitely gave it your best shot. Thanks for spending all that time on it. I sorry the out come wasn’t better.
Thank you
Rocky has let stardom go to his head and has to be in every shot now. What a ham. Feel like his theme song should be "Celebrity" by Brad Paisley.
He’s really hilarious
WOW another video. Man your working hard this week. Nice 2x👍
Yes sir
@@Sleeperdude nice... thank you
I love Mrs. sleeper her laugh is precious
Hello there cowboy here again love watching y'all can't get enough keep in mind if the exhaust is cloaked up you'll have to much back pressure it won't run it'll do pretty much what she's doing we see a lot more of that on car's with catalytic on them when they collapse internally we just split the tail pipe so it's open headers basically not saying that's what's going hear but worth checking anyway remember always be safe healthy and happy God Bless 🤠
Thank you
I believe Uncle Rodney has come to see that Fairmont. Love y'all, keep them videos coming.
You guys are the best. Rockin the Buc-ee's T-shirt. We were just in Gatlinburg for a week and then noticed your Gatlinburg video.
Your family should be on the list to save if we have an apocalypse. You can do much with nothing.
Keep the content coming.
It was definitely about to run ! That chain was the key
My aunt in Canada had a blue one like it with a 4 cylinder; barely it would get out of it's own way. It was slow as molasses in winter, but I wanted it! It sure looked like it was fun to drive at the time when I was going for my driver license. Either all the beans to 'er to move out, or it sat put like a rock! lol!
That’s cool
you all are the family i never had i have fell in love with you thanks
Thank you I’m glad you like it. We are blessed
WOWZERS! Another awesome video from Josh & family!!! We'rer gonna kick back right now and watch this! Well, doggone, Josh...you gave it youir best shot You get "A" for effort! From your devoted fans from Wyoming, Candy & me from Thrif-T body & paint!❤❤ Y'all!!!!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
Didn't see you this time checking TDC and Rotor pointing to 1st cillinder
Well it looks like you'll have to start bringing out two cans of sausages with all those goats.... they be hungry... love your videos. I used to own a 78 fairmont that was only two years old... lowered it and enjoyed it for about 10 years cruising the vegas strip. Was a great car and reliable. Your family is great and love watching your videos. I also learn alot from your knowledge. Keep it up.
Thank you
Glad to see I'm not the only one that has a failure now and then! Wonder if the exhaust is still plugged? Maybe one of the other Fairmonts has a good ring gear? Oh well good luck with that one. 😃
Thank you
Ring gears on the 200ci inline 6cyl C4 3spd are welded to the torque converter, not to the flexplate.
Yeah I think I’d have took the exhaust system off, I think that’s been the problem. It’s been a great vid albeit a little frustrating not seeing it run.
@@michaelcook7836 change them both. Whatever it takes. 😧
Just watching you and family is awesome
A video would not be complete without the whole family helping 😄
Awesome thanks
Including Rocky & his family.
Tosh's comedic timing was on point with the "let's shine a little light on tha subject" line and headlight. That was hilarious! I had to rewind that 2 or 3 times. 😂
I’m glad you liked it
Hi guys. Back in the early ‘80s I knew a guy who had a Chevy wagon with a 350. His idea of an oil change was to just change the filter and add a quart of oil. Needless to say that’s what his rocker arms looked like when we changed the valve cover gaskets. He was also a big fan of Quaker State oil, which didn’t help matters any.
Pennzoil will do the same . Use paraffin based oil that's what you get.
Quaker State will do this every time. I worked in a junkyard and every motor we tore apart for parts that used Quaker State was just like this. Every time.
If your dipstick is black there's a good chance the guy used Quaker State
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS ONE. YOU PUT YOUR HEART & Soul into it. Can’t wait for the 5.0 & the vette.
Cool ride hey Josh I see light flickering lower dash where Ralph driving..remove egv valve plugs exhaust pipes for better performance.
Ok thanks
Where u get the view camera from ? When u using to look in piston cylinder
Definitely for the crusher. End the misery, not a money car. Great effort though!
Things are going downhill fast in this episode:
- Ralphie's pours seem to be getting further away every day.
- the Croc craze has consumed 60% of this family.
- Squeezie has entered her perm phase.
- The junkyard curse rears it's ugly head again.
- 24v to the Duraspark has us all concerned.
The good news:
- Josh has his MLK Jr moment at approx 12 minutes in...."it's free, it's free".
- I spotted a blue wagon out on the back 20 that I haven't seen before......either more parts or a video is coming.
- I (we?) have now seen my first Goat/Cat/Chicken/Pig stampede.
- Ralphie's cleaning skills are still on-point....it's comforting to know some things can be counted on.
- WaWa learned her part to play in this family theater is more important than she imagined (key "on" sweetheart).
- Mom is now captioning her Tosh-isms. It's helpful.
- I didn't even care if the 6 got running....more room for an 8.
Another good one, thanks!
I wish I had your patience. I would have bean so frustrated. Love watching you all.
Hey Josh, did you double check TDC, firing order and distributor rotation direction? The cam was timed to the crank w/the old chain, but it backfired through the carb which is usually a timing issue. Maybe cut the exhaust off at the manifold too. Sucks about that flexplate. Thanks for posting.
Yes, I wondered if the exhaust was still too bunged up to run. I've never had an automatic so I don't know if it's possible but with a manual I would try a tow start.
Well with all the years of water, rest and mud and all the evidence that it has been buried for a while. This looks like a great parts car to fix the black wagon and a great parts car for your project forward you have because it looks like that black wagon would run and drive with what you have there but it has been fun watching y'all work on this junk and try to make it run both the ups and the downs of it. See you next week with another one
Might be able to find a 351 Cleveland to put in it. 😁 Was really wishing this one would go, but can't win 'em all. I think Rocky enjoys being a hood ornament. I sure wish I was as sure footed as him. Thanks for sharing guys!! 😎
Thank you
Congratulation - you have a nice family + interesting animals.
Thank you very much!
I have always wondered just how much outflow obstruction could result from nesting in the exhaust.
You guys are persistent I'll give you that! 👍👍
The first thing I’d check first is to make sure the exhaust isn’t clogged up badly. Take a sawzall and cut it before the muffler…. Then pull the starter again to make sure you didn’t shear off the teeth on the starter. You should have 3/4 of a flex plate with good teeth!
My thoughts exactly
I think so too
Those goats are cool
I wonder if it would be worth getting a flex plate off the other cars that are stuck or at a junk yard, drop the trans and just see if it would go that way, also I wonder about how clogged up the exhaust is? That was a lot of mouse mansion coming out. Great video as always sleeperdude crew!
The engine says no but there's so much life left in the body.
👍👍👍
Looked at 2 trucks today....1st was 1977 chevy shortbed squarebody....2nd was 1966 chevy C10 stepside....both in good shape but unfortunately owners asking a bit too much for them...hope to find a truck by end of summer
Awesome.
So Awesome to see You. created such an awesome life You and Your Family!
When you try to start it on 24v, you need to connect the ignition system to the bottom battery so it gets only 12v. The top battery in the series string needs to connect to the starter solenoid. This will keep you from potentially damaging the ignition system.
There’s always that special rpm where the engine just takes off. It’s what I live for. It’s a relief that’s hard to explain
Yes!!!
@@Sleeperdude you can almost feel it
What do you think happens to old, worn-out crushers? Can you save a crusher from "the crusher?" Its been that kind of a day..lol.

Glad you like them!
Hi every one and Roku to. Good luck with that really cool old school car. It will run and drive.
Wonder if the exhaust is plugged up enough causing it not to start 🤔
I’m not sure
glad to see you saved them !!
Thank you
The rust in the center is because there was no carburetor on the intake and Rocky was just trying to help you free up the valves he was tapping on with his hooves 😂
You may not have succeeded in getting it started, but it was fun watch you all trying. ❤
Love it mat uk
Thanks Matt
My buddy Marty says put easy out in that non Fowler pull it right out. Much love from Indiana.
Ok 👍
Just got home a little bit ago from the hospital i was looking forward to coming home and laying down and watching something on yt, after a long 6 hours in the hospital today I was over it lol they found more Inflammation throughout my colon through tests, it's a pretty rough time right now in my life and I look forward to seeing your videos come up I can't wait to watch this one thank you and your family for making these videos

Keep up the good work! That’s awesome thank you
Dude, I worked at a junkyard for years. I bought so many old cars that ran again that we finally went and got our dealer license and started reselling them instead of scrapping them. It was more lucrative to get the pre cat cars running again than it was to scrap them. You just have to choose the right cars. I saved a bunch of really cool old cars. The '71 Torino, the '80 302 Cougar and the '85 Alfa Romeo Spyder convertible were some of my personal faves. I ran the crap out of that Cougar before we sold it. The first step on picking the right car is to make sure that the engine turns over.
I’d love to see you do the bodywork, and paint one of those Fairmonts!!!!!
I’m from Australia and love my wagons.
My first car was a 1966 Ford Falcon deluxe station wagon, my second wagon was a Chrysler valiant wagon 1979.
Followed later by an 1986 Mitsubishi Sigma hinroof wagon.
Later a Mitsubishi Magna v6 TR wagon...great car.
I have a 1998 EL Ford Falcon Futura Sapphire wagon with factory bullbar sitting in my shed awaiting its fate... great wagon..4.0 litre
Fuel injected 6cylinder auto wagon. Great car just deciding to restore it or part it off.
