This is the best UVinstall on YT I have a very similar light mine is 55W, I never thought of taking out the hose attachments and then doing it with PVC that’s really smart and makes the install more professional, good stuff!

I used a green killing machine when I had a bacterial bloom in my reef (cloudy water). took care of it in a day. I don't use it anymore but it worked when I needed it.
its funny you say that because i thought my blue tang only did that too she normally gets it the day after i do i water change but all of my other tangs dont get affected which is pretty nice..
Iv only had this issue with two tangs over the years. It never spreads or causes any issues but its still not fun to deal with. we will see if the UV takes care of it so far so good
I see that you installed the UV sterilizer oriented with the Input/output parallel to the floor. Did you have any problems with this orientation in the long run? I had to install mine today in the same manner but not turned it on yet because I want to get a bit more info on having it installed this way.
I just got a Jebao PU-36 from amazon, and I couldn't find a single PVC fitting that worked in it. What size worked for you? I'm also trying to tie it into a manifold, and I have limited space under my stand, so the stupid long nipple things that come with it don't work well for me.
Hi Travis. That plastic foot on the UV bulb. Does it stay on or need to come off. I've just bought a similar unit and not sure whether it's just for use in packaging?
You will be replacing the bulb sooner then you think lol and don’t turn the flow rate down to much I did that and the UV light burned through the black tubing and it started leaking
why not add a couple of quick connects on each end the next time to mess with it. it'll allow you to just disconnect and remove the caps for easier maintenance.
+Reject06 Honestly didn't feel like spending the extra money. If it ever needs to be removed it's .65 and ten minutes of work to put it back. With 9 months left of this system every penny counts towards the new build.

UV sterilizers do nothing to cure ich, I also never had ich in this display. I use the uv to help keep the water clear and its doing a good job so far.
After a few weeks could you tell it is making any difference with the ich in your hippo tang? What flow rate do you have trough the UV? Reducing flow will increase the effectiveness against parasites
+salcedo5 the hippo never had ick if it did I would of noticed it on the other tangs. I'm thinking it was an external parasite either way it's gone. Idk what the flow rate is I know it's not much.
+Richie Bag I fully understand my plumbing skills are lacking but with that being said I had zero leaks the uv fits perfectly and works like a charm. At the end of the day that's all I was looking to accomplish.

I havent heard of that brand before. Any particular reason why you didnt keep it on?
Here's a tip teflon tape has no adhesive on either side. Try using the "back" side of tape. Easier to keep tension.
A uv is a must for reefing

This looks like a decent steriliser .... I have the JBL one and it works a treat but mine is on my tropheus tank 🤗
So far its doing great plus a 2 year warranty on the bulb is always nice.
great video Travis. when u use thread tape turn it round so yr winding it the other way it's much easier
I think we wrap the tape around the male threads in the same direction as the nut goes on?
its greatvin my opinion. Although i just usecthe uv from my canister filters im not sure of the impact you will see but all helps. great build up

Did u put the valve before the inlet or after the outlet?
I bought the same sterilizer and noticed that it leaks at the o-rings around the body of the casing. Did you ever have this problem?

I got over a year out of this uv so not bad for the price. I just stopped using it and upgraded to bigger one for the 300

Between what stage filtration do you install this? I was going to add one temporarily, but I think I want to keep it and run it all the time.

Thing is.....you will only get clarification with that unit. Cheap unit, cheap bulb no sterilisation. Good vid tho.

How do you know how much flow you need for you tank?
I go off of how clear the water is, slower flow allows more contact time.
