As always another informative video Cam. 🙌
Great job and very informative thanks Cam
Love australia, you want to fit an aquarium just drill 40/60mm holes in walls hahaha love it
Hmm pretty sure it is done everywhere
@@vesawuoristo4162 no not really mate, im in uk we have twin brick with breeze block in middle of them in alot of our house builds, we would need a very very long diamond tip drill, not worth the effort ;)
Exatly, the same difficilty in Italy
Thanks as always cam. Great content
No worries😊 We have some great series coming up in the near future. Cam
I suggest you check if the pipe has melted plastic on the inside. Use a stick with paper. I bought 2 uvc from Deltec. Not same brand but those melted already after 30min. The water started to smell burnt plastic.
Great tutorial and planning Cam! What was the reason for this install? Heterotrohic bloom?
No i was already here being quiet ;) lol
Haha
@@bigkeith2835 ok i admit i was 2nd this time, will beat you next time big keith !! Lmao
Excellent!
Why did you plumb OVER the electrical cords? Also can you connect the uv sterilizer to an electronic monitor like the intellicenter??
Thanks so much!
Hey Cam, just wondering why you went out of the sump and back into the sump, even though its a closed loop. BRS recommend that its better to be feeding back into the display direct. Are you finding that its still as efficient going back into the sump?
I prefer to go back into the display when possible, but I don’t like feeding back into a manifold and we couldn’t otherwise accommodate another return point in the tank. Cam
Hey I really like the flow ,Meter idea
Did you remove the metal guiderod or did It come without a guiderod?
There was no guiderod. It was 100% plastic. Cam
I keep seeing reviews that the casing melts on the pentair, how is yours holding up?
Cam, you commented that you need that much UV wattage to control disease. What do you base that on? Experience or from some study? Thanks.
Excellent question, the answer is both. I’ve spent a lot of time researching Protozoa UV exposure ratings (different brands have different ratings) and I’ve used UV many times to manage disease. There are many variables that affect the spread of protozoan disease in marine systems and it’s fair to say my UV recommendations are a mix of research and practical experience. Cam
Seems like the UV would have fit in the closet. What else is planned for the closet?
It definitely would have fit in the closet, however there are heaps of non-aquarium items that are stored in there. Cam
Well planned ha...is that's why you have to dismount the entire thing to change the bulb? It should have been lower.
Even if it was on he ground (vertical) there wasn’t enough clearance to remove the bulb in situ. We could have put the unit horizontal but it’s easy enough to pull it down to change the bulb. Cam
Do you have a link for that flow meter?
Why not go with a horizontal placement. Each time you have to change that bulb it's going to need to be taken completely off the wall in order to do so.
We considered that however the vertical position takes up less space in the garage and it’s pretty easy to take off the wall. Cam
It would off been more well planned if you had mountex it lower on the wall to make switching the bulb easier rather than having to take it off the wall
Good point, but we measured it and even if the unit was on in the ground there wasn’t enough space to pull the tube out in situ. Cam
@@GalleryAquaticaTV fair play mate I only run a deltec 20w that one you installed is a beast
Hi guy’s
I see these always installed upright
Is that the only way or can I lay one over on it’s side?
You can mount them horizontally, we chose not to this time to save space in the garage. Cam
@@GalleryAquaticaTV ok cool horizontally would be good for my situation
Cheers for replying
Where did you get the wall mounts for the UV?
I’m pretty sure they came with the UV, however if they were after market I would have got them from Water Equip at Coopers Plains. Cam
Hay does anyone know the name of that flow thing they use to see how much flow is going through the uv sterilizer thanks vary much
I’ll try and find out exactly what they call it. Cam
@Gallery Aquatica TV thank uou vary much I would love to add one to my set up thanks again
What do you recommend for how many watts uv per L or gal?
I don’t have a rule as such, but I typically go a minimum of 50 watts per 1000L, with a preference for double that. Cam
Hey Cam can you please tell me where I can get the flow meter from? Cheers.
If you’re in Australia there’s a company up here called Water Equip that sells all the plumbing I use. Cam
1st
We’ll done!
Just me or is that way over sized for that tank.
It’s not oversized for marine Protozoa such as whitespot and velvet. They require very high exposure of UV to effectively control. Cam
Huge mistake by runing 1” pipe instead 1.5 or 2” ,, I know per experience you can’t get 1000gallons plus of flow for algea and vacteria using that pump !!
But there is a pump.
how to say goodbye to phyto and zoo plankton
And disease…
Why do you hate coral and fish? 😉 I'm not here to grow green water lol.
Hello to clear water and good symbiotic algae growth, reduced bad bacteria and less ick.
Sea Life doesn't require UV light
@@slirpslirp this ain't the ocean bud they deserve our help. Ick struggles to find a host in the open ocean in these tiny rock pools made of glass ick overwhelms then fast. If we're gonna take them we should do everything we can.
