changing the scouting regions feels like a watershed moment in FM history; feels like they've been the same way for fifteen years, you just get used to thinking that Portugal really is in Central Europe after all that time. Also here's a fun fact people may not have noticed; you can send a scout to scout multiple nations or regions in the same assignment simultaneously. Just keep adding things for them to scout in the drop-down box. You can build your own regions out of whatever nations you want! Is it good to do this? Hell I don't know, but I am trying it atm.

I guess it's still pretty early in the game cycle. The vast majority of saves played have barely cracked their fifth season. Over the next couple months I suspect quite a few players will reach their save's tenth season so by then we'll know more about it.
If you play 4-5 seasons, hell even 10-20 seasons it is kind of irrelevant. The top nations just get an even better youth rating from my experience. Most dramatic changes come very late. Also keep im mind which league are loaded that their youth rating is more influenced than others. Which is fine btw... From my sim in the FM beta what i've seen so far is that the youth ratings just go up. haven't seen one decline.
So far I am in my 6th season with Maribor (Slovenia), we make the groupstage of the CL everytime, even went to a Uefa Conference leage but the youth rating is dead frozen at 90 :(
@@franciscomarcelino1251 national team needs success as well I guess and this takes much time. Maybe check Spain, England or Germany if their rating changed?
The South Korea thing is absolutely a real think. I just have been running a sim overnights/when at the office and about 250 years into the future they keep rotating top three with England and Spain. There was even a run in the 2170s where South Korea made the finals of almost 10 straight World Cups.
@@davyprendergast82 I actually havent even played a single game in this save. I just loaded in top four English leagues, top three Spanish, and let to run when I sleep and when I have to go into the office instead of working at home. Just hit 300 years in the future and has hit over 23 real life days of run time. Might celebrate by watching the 2322 World Cup and watching the regens play.
One thing about spain is they are obligated to put release clauses on players, so every year you end up with numerous young prospects that could play in your CL winning team in 4 years and you only had to spend 400k or 1 million on each of them when they were 17.
Brazil is also like that and I believe the same to be true to Argentina as well. But ai think Spanish teams put whatever clause they'd like for its players while in Brazil it has to be proportional to the player's salary, so they tend to be cheaper.
And Portugal's low GDP per capita also bolsters that region as they might not be Spanish youth prospect cheap, but bargains in their own right. France and Andorra in comparison are just costly as the Brazilians, Cape Verdians, and Angolans will often pop out of Portuguese clubs in some cases more often than their homelands when it comes to the African prospects.
@@Eibarwoman Portugal is brilliant in my current no budget sweden save. The big clubs have great young players in their b teams on ridiculous cheap wages
I feel like if the MLS prioritized their focus on developing talent from Mexico and South America, including the best staff from these regions, they could massively improve the standard of their league in a short amount of time as well as improving US development.
This is why it's always worth to 'open' a region for yourself. Guys for example if you are starting new save always pick top league tier from countries like South Korea, Uruguay, Poland, Colombia as playable. And also remember to add 'players from top clubs'/'players from top league' for few other countries. Then your save is 'set' and you are good to go.
Thank you for clarifying the new regions. I love FM but it’s small polish issues like the game not telling you which nations are in which regions that I find super annoying unless it does and it’s just really well hidden - even then SI could clean some things up and make certain info easier to find.
For as long as I can remember, all of South America + Spain & Portugal have been my priority scouting areas; they always come before anywhere else. It's only later on when I have the money and/or enough scouts that I add in Central & Eastern Europe. When I have the luxury I'll throw in Scandinavia & parts of Africa.
5:41 Israel is actually really good at producing consistently good young players with the occasional wonderkid. I think its severely overrated in comparison to real life because they seem to produce like 5 Nir Bitton's every year.
I would love that scouting allows you to select a region and exclude the countries in that region you don't want to scout, in order to make large but specific scouting
You can pick out certain teams. In FM21 that was my tactic playing with an Austria side. Would send scouts to games that the biggest South Africa squads were playing in, find a few good players that I can sign for 1-3M and then flip for 20-50M a few years later.
@UCNha818mDg8vvd47Far4JYw I would have one scout who just watches the top three teams in South Africa manually per my directions. When a good player showed up they were on them for a few months. Got a lot of players for 1-3M who eventually turned into regulars for SA National Team and could be sold for 20-40M
You know, something I'd love to see is when I'll pick a certain region, if I just hover over it shows which of my scouts have some knowledge on this region already. Sometimes you need someone with more expertise because you don't want to waste too much time you know.
The issue I have with both West Africa (and to a lesser extent Central Africa as well) as a scouting region is that the vast majority of the best regens from countries like Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, etc. come through youth academies at clubs in France itself. Very few regens seem to actually appear in the clubs in these countries, probably because the leagues are not playable in game. And those regens from these nations who come through French academies are usually expensive because they are already at Ligue 1 or 2 clubs. The same problem exists with Nigeria but with their regens coming through English academies, and most of the best Ghanaian regens come through European academies as well (particularly in Germany and Denmark from what I've seen). North Africa can also be problematic in a similar way as most of the best regens from Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia come through in European academies (usually French, but also Dutch and Spanish in some cases). But Egypt is definitely a big plus for North Africa as their youth rating is indeed cracked and their regens often appear in Egyptian clubs, making them cheaper.
My proudest moment was finding a Haitian wonderkid. And I mean an actual wonderkid - 180 PA. Bought him for 20.5M from a Brazilian club when he was 18, unfortunately he left on a free to Manchester United a few years later but he carried my team to our first ever Champions League win, so I can't be too mad.
In FM 21 South Africa was a gold mine for my Austria save. About six years in I was a common UCL knockout team that would have five players leave on international duty any time SA played a game. Lots of 1-3M buys that in a year or two are getting 20-40M bids
Will this be the same for FM24? Or will you be doing an updated list? I'm rubbish at scouting and love your scouting videos to learn. But no idea if they work on FM24.
Hey Zealand, what are your thought on playable vs. non-playable nations with the effects on scouting. Do we try and have as many nations as playable as possible to find more prospects?
FM21 I just stole players from South African teams for 1-2M that in a few years were getting 20-40M bids from elite clubs. Korea seems to be a gem though in FM22 as shown (in my long term sim they have played in probably close to 20 World Cup finals as I near 250 years into the future). Belarus might be a good one too since they are suddenly really really good and slowly kept moving up the ranks.
@@e_eyster From my sim very late game it's china. Insane amount of talent. Guess it's that population which makes them almost immortal in the asian area.
Good video as always, but Central Africa is in my opinion way to low on the list. You've with DR Congo and Cameroon great countries with high youth rating and the players are very cheap - way better than south africa for example, where you've so many countries which are a waste of time ;) And Western Africa is my personal "must scout", where you can pick up great players for next to nothing (but I load a lot of african players for most of my saves)
Do you find its better when hiring staff to just get the best possible regardless of knowledge and send them to the area to gain it or go for a little less in attributes but already knowledge where you want to send them.
How many scouts do you have for each of the top regions? Like 2 in each of the south america regions? Do you ever scout just the nations? Like you put one scout in Brazil, one in Argetina, one in Portugal and so on?
I’m playing a game based in Scotland. My god it is really hard to sign wonderkids because they can’t get work permits. I’ve managed to sign 2 from Argentina.
Great videos #Zealand! Maybe I'm missing something here, but I've been trying to set up some of the nations you mention, but some aren't listed for example Japan? Is there a bug or do I need a fix or something?
If you are looking for the best bang for the buck - Africa is the place to go in FM22. Im literally buying players for 10 000 euro and selling them on for 20-30 million euro just one season later! In particular Mali, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Cameroon etc. Not the best potential players, but definitely the place to go if you want to get rich fast
Brazil and Argentina are still undisputed the best talents in the world until now. So that South American teams are truly the Top 01 on the list for that.
North America (central).. literally no information anywhere I can find on what this region is? There is Central America and North America as separate regions.. yet no mention of North America central even though it says it’s a region in the game. Any ideas?
Geographically Australia is in Oceania but we compete in Asia for soccer because easier qualifying for world cup and cus we have way better players than every oceanic team
No one uses the name Czechia for the Czech Republic, btw. --source, my friend who is from Prague. Also, Holland is technically only part of the Netherlands.
Hey Z, have you got an obscure wonderkids video in the pipeline this year? Like the one last year that had Yusuf Demir, Liberato Cacace, Aster Vrancx, etc. found some of my favourite players in the game through that one
in terms of finding newgens around the world, what is the ideal (while not making the save super slow) amount of leagues to load? detail level settings? playable or view only setting?
How do I get the players I want to sign work permits, I keep putting the wage to the specified price to get the required points and every single players permit gets rejected. New to fm not sure if this is just how it is.
I got a player in Paraguay for 700k that became the best player in the whole save, with 20 dribbling 20 first touch 20 technique 20 vision, passing and pace 17+ i mean the best of the best
Question. With the new dynamic youth rating does that affect all other countries? So for instance if Jamaica do well over time could that be worth sending a scout in future?
Hi Zealand there's a video you had made very similar to this one for FM23 I can't seem to find it could you please reply with the link to that video. Thanks man
Zealand telling me not to scout southern Asia cause I won't find anything of worth as If I scout to find players, not just to make that perfect 100% world knowledge number.
I liked the change, now you can go right there where you want, and not scouting a region just because 1 good country. BTW I have a question, for how long you scout one region? For a season? For 2? Because I still don't quite understand the till it ends option (altough I always use this one).
I have gone around that by forcing a scout to go to a few games from particular teams (usually the medium-big ones from non-playable nations), its a lot more hands on, but gives you the chance to really hone in on a few players.
QUESTION! if I was to sign a player who had reasonable potential (for their country like Sri lanka) with a good team with amazing training, could I make the player that country best player by development?
If football manager actually credited the players place of birth rather than nationality, it would create more interesting scouting opportunities in the Caribbean and Africa.
Can anyone tell me how to get loan offers for a player that needs work permit. I tried offering him to Serbian , Polish and second div clubs in Spain. No offers. He's a Brazilian bought in the summer window.
I may have to get tiktok for this reason... I will likely despise myself as I spend all day lamenting it's existence because its fed my children's inability ro focus on anything past 30 seconds...
How do we scout? Obviously selecting the region but what ages should I look for? How many stars? I am currently in league 2 in England is it good to scout now or does it cost too much? I have 1m in the bank and slowly making money (5k-100k) a month
Quick Question… I’m playing on a Large database and i have Portugal (I’m coaching Sporting) and the top 5 leagues loaded … does that affect the scouting pool ALOT ? Like as in I won’t find a lot of young players in those regions that aren’t loaded up ? I have 18 scouts at the moment at Sporting and don’t know if it’s worth it to send them out around the world or if it’ll be a waste of time and $$$ … any input on this from anyone ?
Sorry, why is region scouting better than nation scouting? I’ve only been playing one year, and your videos have helped me a ton, but I still want to hire an Italian scout to scout Italy and not Italy plus a bunch of countries where he’s clueless.
I'm sorry but North America has to be higher for Mexico alone. Yes they might be a bit more expensive but they are insane this FM. There was a post on reddit with all of the top 3 NextGen being from Mexico. And I've had it happen in my save as well. I just spend 10 million on a 19year old that would start in almost any CL side. Mexico is the real deal this year.
South America (South) is amazing. I don't know what is going on in my save, but I have one, singular scout. And for some reason, he will not stop recommending Brazilian and Argentinian talent.
@@PESandNHL Odd one for me that is getting good but still isnt quite great is Indonesia that is pushing top 30 in the world around 2270
Australia moved into the Asian Football Confederation in 2006. That's why they're not showing up in Oceania.
can you do a video on how to setup a save in terms of view only leageus?
On fm21 I had a couple of Indonesians come through from Oceania that were of world class quality which was odd
As an Indian it really hurt lmao..
*sad Bikash Yumnam noises*
@@איתןשי in real life India is shit at football.
Would say more any club that seriously invests in a proper indian youth academy will hit a gold mine
As a Finnish person, I'm obliged to say that Finland isn't actually a part of Scandinavia, but quite often we get added to the group for some reason.
probably the flag
Americans a lot of the time will lump all the Nordic countries into Scandinavia
Good video as always, but Central Africa is in my opinion way to low on the list. You've with DR Congo and Cameroon great countries with high youth rating and the players are very cheap - way better than south africa for example, where you've so many countries which are a waste of time ;)
And Western Africa is my personal "must scout", where you can pick up great players for next to nothing
(but I load a lot of african players for most of my saves)
Can someone knock up a list of the best nation groups to scout now that region scouting doesn't work please?
Do you find its better when hiring staff to just get the best possible regardless of knowledge and send them to the area to gain it or go for a little less in attributes but already knowledge where you want to send them.
Mans chest hair is connecting with his beard 😂😂
How many scouts do you have for each of the top regions? Like 2 in each of the south america regions? Do you ever scout just the nations? Like you put one scout in Brazil, one in Argetina, one in Portugal and so on?
I’m playing a game based in Scotland. My god it is really hard to sign wonderkids because they can’t get work permits. I’ve managed to sign 2 from Argentina.
I tried to focus on the importance of the new regions but honestly your hair kept distracting me and reminding me that i need a haircut too😅😅
Great videos #Zealand!
How do you work around youngsters from other countries needing a work permit?
Hi zealand. Good video. By the way I have 1 good guys at around 17s regen from Australia here. Probably a good lucky roll?
Zealand, do you think is better scouting by regions or by countries? Should i put one scout on 3 countries or 1 region?
Hey Z, have you got an obscure wonderkids video in the pipeline this year? Like the one last year that had Yusuf Demir, Liberato Cacace, Aster Vrancx, etc. found some of my favourite players in the game through that one
I mean, I DID find the starting D/WB (R) for my Croatian 2nd league save from Barbados... Somehow. So, maybe Carribbean isn't binworthy?🤷🏻♂️ (It is)
in terms of finding newgens around the world, what is the ideal (while not making the save super slow) amount of leagues to load? detail level settings? playable or view only setting?
how often do you switch up your scouting assignments, or do you just set and forget a scout in a particular region
As an Indian, when you said South Asia aint worth it, I felt that lmao, but youre totally right :P
Brazil is stacked now, even more than before.
hi Zeee. what is proper way to set my scout tasks for wonderkids? do i focus on 5 star potential only?
Anyone else had issues with the Zealand skin missing numbers during the match since the newest update. Epic skin I don't want to take it off
11:20 thank u man 🇷🇸🇷🇸👍🏻
I liked the change, now you can go right there where you want, and not scouting a region just because 1 good country.
Followed you on tiktik, because why not?
I may have to get tiktok for this reason... I will likely despise myself as I spend all day lamenting it's existence because its fed my children's inability ro focus on anything past 30 seconds...
How do we scout? Obviously selecting the region but what ages should I look for? How many stars?
I am currently in league 2 in England is it good to scout now or does it cost too much? I have 1m in the bank and slowly making money (5k-100k) a month
If you're in a Premier League team, should you just be scouting for Hot Prospects, or should you specify more than that?
Question for Zealand and anyone.
How long is the average save you do?
20 years or so
Australian here. We are in the ocianian region. We just compete in Asia.
Geographically yes but ingame we are Southeast Asia.
What was the methodology behind the rankings for this? was there any testing to prove this out?
16:41 Luxembourg is not there
Hey Z downloaded ur regen facepack on fm22 and hasn’t worked properly i think all the players are like the games regens instead of a real life face
Yeah definitely load brazil, argentina, and some nations like croatia, serbia as view only.
Brazil is a gold mine for portuguese clubs as in real life
Central Asia ranked 22nd letss gooooo
I can never sign South American talents due to work permits😕
Do u need all these nations loaded for it to create regents from those nations??
Finally tier list
Sorry, why is region scouting better than nation scouting? I’ve only been playing one year, and your videos have helped me a ton, but I still want to hire an Italian scout to scout Italy and not Italy plus a bunch of countries where he’s clueless.
If you micromanage it nation scouting is better
I have to talk to my board now, I don't have enough scouts...
Think you’re the only guy I know where your beard hair meets your chest hair 😂
West europe also has Gibraltar :D
I'm sorry but North America has to be higher for Mexico alone. Yes they might be a bit more expensive but they are insane this FM. There was a post on reddit with all of the top 3 NextGen being from Mexico. And I've had it happen in my save as well. I just spend 10 million on a 19year old that would start in almost any CL side. Mexico is the real deal this year.
Slovenia just hitting strays
How do i get you FM skin, i do the download but it never works
LMAO DR Congo actually won the first World Cup of the Game in my save....yeahhh mental!
Ah yes; Luxembourg just gets its flag in Limburg...
Unfortunately max 4 non-EU Players in my country (Romania) so this list is completely different for me :(
Can’t believe u didn’t say Nigeria in west Africa 🥲😔
Your skin isn't working right anymore, apparently since the new patch. Transfer Informations and scout reports aren't there.
LUXEMBOURG HAHAHAHAH 16:41
