    I wanted to play with the voltages of the 10700k @5.1Ghz, to see what it took to crash my PC (so I filmed it). Well, Prime 95 of course.. It crashed, but no worries, back up and running. Hang out with me while I go through a few different voltage settings in the BIOS. This video is a lot longer than I had planned, and we're not done yet, but I had to end it. Now that I have a number to stay above, I want to go up in small increments to see where I can run small FFTs, and smallest FFTs without a crash. That video is coming up. Subscribe and turn on notifications, of course. Shot on my S20 Ultra.. Again =)

    If you're on the fence about purchasing a 10700k, and are curious of the silicon quality from a random sample (mine), I hope this helps, at least a little. I play with my CPU settings often, and just figured I would record this instance to share. Sorry it's so long. Different content is coming. Please suscribe if your curious. New videos weekly. I'm having a blast.

      That's great. You're right. I think I mentioned adjusting it, but I never did in the video. I plan on uploading a video, going through each LLC setting, to see the fluctuation in HWiNFO. Been a busy month for me, but more uploads are coming. I run LLC 3 daily btw.

    helo sir, i runing i7 10700k at 4.8 GHz ring ratio 4.3 and AVX Auto with 1.300 cpu voltage, temperature is going 45-55 idle and about 98 at gaming, can you help me how to decrease the temp?
    what i miss from my BIOS setting ? im not good overclocker, just for daily use and gaming, im using MSI Cooler Liquid 360mm now

    • @TheSmileyTek
      @TheSmileyTek  2 года назад

      That’s plenty of cooling. 98 gaming is high. Is it just a quick spike here and there? Check the Load Line settings. I set my Load Line Calibration (LLC) to Mode 3. Confirm your thermal paste application, and that your cooler is mounted with even pressure. Tighten in a cross pattern.

    • @Andyz1605
      @Andyz1605 2 года назад

      @@TheSmileyTek btw what is LLC ? can you give me simple explain ? if i use higher than mode 3 what happen ?

    • @TheSmileyTek
      @TheSmileyTek  2 года назад

      Sure, LLC tells the motherboard to provide a little more voltage to the CPU when it goes from Idle to Load. Setting LLC to a higher mode could allow the voltage to stay higher under load rather than dropping off, or "drooping". I was thinking a lower setting may keep your temps down, if it doesn't cause stability issues (aka a crash). In other words, maybe allowing the voltage to taper off under load could keep your temps lower. Higher voltage = higher temps. Although, it may just be the "silicon lottery". Not all CPUs can reach higher frequencies at lower voltages. So mileage may vary.

    By the way, thank you very much for your video. I am trying to undervolt my i7 10700k With Motherboard ASUS ATX ROG STRIX Z490-E GAMING And the minimum voltage that I could put was 1,380 and it gave ceash when running cinebench r20 and so far I am in the test of 1,450 with prime 95 for 10 minutes I still cannot find the correct voltage no blue screen

    • @TheSmileyTek
      @TheSmileyTek  3 года назад

      NP. Thanks! I think I got lucky with this 10700K. It's been an excellent overclocker @ reasonable voltages.

    • @zero00000ism
      @zero00000ism 3 года назад +1

      It's true hahaha you are a crack thanks for making me try to do the subvolt I was scared a little, the maximum I managed to put was 1,480 and it does thermal throttling at 7 minutes prime 95 is quite rare since it is always at 60 degrees and reaching that time out of nowhere the temperature rises to 100 degrees and that's when most tests give blue screen but this voltage only makes thermal throttling I guess it's the minimum voltage I can :(

    • @raulgrangeiro
      @raulgrangeiro 3 года назад

      @@zero00000ism Man, that voltage is a lot for the 10700k. Try to put the voltage to 1,36V and change LLC to see what happens.

  • @dirty755
    @dirty755 3 года назад

    Small fft prime95 is brutal it's like 125% usage of your CPU plus it looks like you were running AVX which is even worst large ffts is where it's at or realbench or just stick to 3dmark Call of Duty war zone extended play time is also a good stress test

    • @TheSmileyTek
      @TheSmileyTek  3 года назад

      You're right. Just figured I'd see what would happen. I was surprised it didn't thermal throttle. I think it only hit 99C. 1 more degree though, and it would've pulled back. That'll be the only time I run small FFT AVX. My plan was, if it were to mess the CPU up somehow, I would've just upgraded to the 10900k 🤣. I've been really impressed with the silicon quality in my 10700k. It's been great. I got lucky.

    Do i need to raise it?

      @TheSmileyTek  3 года назад +1

      🤔. You're running 5.08Ghz @ 0.80V? That's pretty dang impressive to be honest. That's a pretty low voltage. The higher you raise the voltage, the temps will potentially be higher as well. When you say 1 CPU fan I assume you're air cooling, which is fine, but you wouldn't want to skimp on a quality air cooler if you're overclocking. What CPU cooler are you using?

      I bought the 10700k within 5 minutes of release and the MB directly after. Definitely the first ones off the "press". Same with my S20 Ultra. Received it 2 days before the release date. Always a little risk grabbing the first revs. So far so good though.

      I run at 5Ghz, Dynamic. I set Vcore at 1.322v and I get max vcore of 1.326v. No doubt OC Scanner shorted me a little. If I try +115 I get a Direct X 12 error after a few multiplayer games of MW. Guess it's the price I pay going with the Founders Edition GPU.

      Same as most. I throw 4 Cinebench R20s at it, and run Aida64 for as long as I can manage. As long as it survives my gaming, and video rendering, it's stable enough for me. Game Boost wasn't even stable when I tried it out of the box, which is weird, but it's yet to crash on me after the OC.
