I messed around and watched this movie a while back. Probably most messed up ending of anything I’ve ever seen. WTF?! It was sad that the young star of this film died not too long ago.

Wow! The restoration looks very good. I just bought the movie on old DVD and it looks washed. Maybe I’ll buy the Blu-ray in the future.

It could have been acted alot better, but in a way, Linda Manz embodies the actors in Spheeris' "Suburbia" here, where they werent really supposed to be good actors, they were just real kids. In Days of Heaven, I enjoyed her improvised voice over.
Plot could have been better, but honestly, there's worse attempts at a rebel delinquent story. Any movie with a Neil Young song in its thematic tone makes it a tiny bit better for me. I recommend it for a watch, at least for Dennis and Neil.

why have i not seen this movie.
From what I’ve read, Hopper got the original director fired and took over directing the film himself. He was still drinking and had a terrible reputation with studios for years so it essentially got dumped in a few theaters and disappeared for a long time
I thought it was good.
Now ive battled some baad movies in my time, but this is probably the worst movie I've ever seen. It's starts pretty interesting, but by the time she comes back home, nothing happens until everything happens!
There is no rhythm, no logic, the music is appalling, it seems Dennis Hopper never ceased to be Col Kurtz' fool and despite Linda Manz great acting, in which the movie relies heavily, nothing else is worth even thinking about it...
Cheap tricks to make something that could have been a soft, sensitive story like Deer Hunter, turns into a mishmash of unexpected disgusting disaster...I wish I could wipe my ssss with this movie.
The only good thing about it is that I could return the DVD...
P.s.: I made the even greater mistake of watching this a couple of days after first watching the marvellous "Dersu Uzala"...
Worst movie of all time, it started off with charismatic characters and ended up turning them into the crazy homicidal apalachian mountain redneck family of resident evil biohazard,i liked the song out of the blue tho, that was the only redeeming quality.
I think if they were to cut the movie in half and throw the second half in the trash, and make a new half it might be salvagable.
Maybe you missed the point or you’re judging it from a biased perspective because this movie is heavy and real. Nearly brought me to tears
