I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Valentino Balboni in 2010 at the Lamborghini Factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese. He was extremely kind to me and my family, despite the fact that he was leaving for an international trip. At the end of the meeting, when I said it was an honor to meet him, he told me: "It was my honor to be known by Brazilians who insisted on being with me". Good memories of my life
"You have a Lamborghini?" - My friends 8 year old son when I showed up at the house with my 1985 Corvette and opened the hood. All I could say was "yeah, get in"
What he failed to say is this prototype Bertone built Miura was owned for a long time by the International Lead Zinc organization. So they completely redid it with Zinc in all the trim and paint. It was brown, with different wheels. This is what it originally looked like, in the 60's so that's why it was painted this color.
As I watch Michael Lock speak, all I can think of is Jack Nicholson's line in As Good as It Gets, "people who talk in metaphors ought to shampoo my crotch."
The car back then was the historic, very original, and very unusual "ZN 75". A period one-off... featured in the original Miura reference book by Coltrin and Marchet. It is now a recreation of the original Roadster on the original chassis. As the ZN75, it was for sale for $400k prior to being "recreated" into the Roadster. That's the time Jay and my friend could have bought it somewhat reasonably. Any other question? ;-)
One big problem, and I think most of us have the same problem. NO MONEY!! At least not enough to even do a major service on a Lamborghini. It's cold in Wisconsin right now. Hey Jay, can I work for you and test drive some of those Lamborghinis? I have a brother-in-law who lives in L.A. So I 'll move in with him, and sleep on his couch. It's below zero here, and it won't be cruising season for at least three months. BUMMER!!
I wish they would bring back the Miura. Even if it doesn't bare the Miura name, that kind if old school, sleek design with out all the crazy flamboyant lines, in a smaller size (compared to other Lambos) sporty little car would be great! If they do that, don't focus on top speed, maybe just a simple engine (which I guess for them means only 200mph for them) and use what they did for the handling of the Aventador combined with a light weight design, now that would be a great car!
ever since i watched the italian job with the miura blazing through the alps I've been in love with lamborghini. I was 4 years old back then, the lambos which have always been dear to me are the miura and the countach, the madness in both of those cars is something that is no longer existent in modern cars sure the new lamborghinis look the part, but they aren't crazy engineering solutions like the old ones. that was what lamborghinis dream was, the car was built to go as fast as possible while looking as sexy as possible without regard to convention, comfort etc... thats why the cars are crazy. the miuras engine was a transverse v12 because the shape dictated this. at the same time the engine was a crazy performer that eventually led the miura to a top speed of 180 mph in the early 70's, the same story is in the countach... the drive shaft goes through the sump because of the way the engine is mounted. i love this brand, its lunacy and its italian style... I've always been torn between the two cars but they're so different they've both always been my favourite
Well. Lamborghini president and CEO Stefan Winkelmann stated that the concept would not mark the Miura's return to production, saying that “The Miura was a celebration of our history, but Lamborghini is about the future. Retro design is not what we are here for. So we won’t do the Miura."
yeah they do i watched this video yesturday the 14th. this video says it was published on the 15th it also happened last week with the ford focus i watched it new and then the next day it was at the top of my subscribed uploads
@@bigredc222 it was the original paint.. it looks stunning in real.. thank god it was restored in its original look...because the the ZN-75 version before was ugly.. also the color..

That's just youtube being the way they always are. It's always happening to someone on certain videos. It's affecting me right now too, but last month it was fine and I expect all will go back to normal for me as well. These videos work fine but many if not most are unplayable.
I am awaiting someone to make a look alike Miura similar this one....just copy the body....the chassis and engine can be more modern and up to date. I would reproduce the wheels in 17 in. aluminum. Carbon fiber for the front and rear sections.....carbon fiber removable roof.....no need to try to copy interior...just some luxury good looking interior.
Jay did a episode about the tractor already, video is on his channel. I don't expect a video about the financial crisis from this channel.. Jay does videos about his car hobbie
I find it annoying when exotic car companies use the word "enthusiasts". They're just rich people, not enthusiasts. An enthusiast knows EVERYTHING about what they're buying, and like to work on they're toys. Probably 90% of Lamborghini owners do not fall into that category. Lamborghini I'm sure wishes they did, but they aren't honest to themselves.
a combination of me and my friend. his is more "professional" and "artistic" and "business" style while mine are more long term, archival and simple pictures. Theres a lot he misses cause of his style.
Beautiful paint job on that Miura Roadster!!!
You know you've really made it in life when you can say that you are in your Lamborghini section of your garage.
Every 50 car videos that I watch on YT, I listen to Italian people like this. Love.
That Miura Roadster... My God!
jaqjaques ...but in metal flake? Makes it look like a kit car, sadly...
@@hertzair1186 hard disagree, very beautiful and of the time
Hey Jay let's go for a ride in your Lamborghini
Jay: "Which one?"
The Miura
Jay: "Which one?"
Valentino Balboni is simply, a legend. You can really see how close he is to driving by the way he talks about everything.
Whoa Listening to Valentino hes is the man , so cool to hear a legend and his passion .I need to sell my house to get me a Miura .
nampmuj15
That car doesn't need that paint. But damn it's beautiful. Absolutely perfect.
I love this guy's spirit.
My garage has a lawnmower section. 😉
I only have two mowers but I have a spare engine and parts section of my garage.
That guy knows his Lamborghinis!
I wish this show or a version of it could be adopted by Velocity! That would truly ROCK!!!
all miura models have those, such a beautiful little detail. you never see that sort of stuff today, every car looks the same...

How I love there is no music....
that one-of Miura roadster, probably the most atractive car in the world and Jay you still need a racetrack.
Thanks Jay, I'll remember to buy any Lamborghini that comes up.
It is OK that you uploaded again, I had not been able to watch yet. Very cool interview.
This is not the first episode of Jays Garage where I have heard that damn heart monitor beeping.

What a great episode and great interview with a amazing car and interesting story thx for sharing this with us sir.

Just AWESOME!
Great work guys, very nice!
Amazing Car! The one-off 1968 @lamborghini Miura concept.
i was there and saw them filming!
Amelia Island... holy crap. I grew up in Fernandina Beach. That is too cool.
Great video as always Jay, this guy was worth flying in and taking a day off to visit, just saying;) Love your channel!
Valentino Balboni Reminds me of Ian McKellen A.K.A. Gandalf in some angle :)
Wow -- that Miura roadster is so beautiful!! What a shame it never made it to production.
Got to say that metalic paint reminds me of a tacky kiddy ride
that is a beautiful car, gorgeous color, exquisite lines.
Wow what a great story and that Miura!! How much would that be worth? Priceless.
12:42 LOL Jay hahaha (wonder how much he was offered to buy it at)

I got my rear view mirror signed by Balboni when he came to our track in Texas. It's so great when someone asks me signed it...
lamborghini will always be my fav supercar brand. they are uniqe and futuristic, and have been like that since the very beginning.
That paint took a LOT of Schwinn bicycle seats to make.. put some streamers on the mirrors and you are all set!
Great story about sir balboni lamborghiniay jay !!
"i had a chance to buy that years ago"
this is why i have a love hate relationship with you J...
10:32 love that line
Hey Jay, yeah you have a job, FOR NOW! Baazzzziiiinnggg!
It is, and the black dude being interviewed in the background is the designer of the c7, ed welburn
my grandpa has a lamborghini tractor, been my favorite car company ever since he took me for a ride in it
They made Tractors before they made cars. They still do Tractors. Lamborghini also makes marine V12's for power boats.
christdragon no, the tractors stopped in 69
christdragon and yes, you are telling somone who used to own one like it's news
They're still making tractors...

negative, tractors are still in production not the same plant though
Love the intro
LOL!! Great comment. I have an old Jeep in my Lamborghini section of my garage.

With Audi ownership you can kiss all the lunacy goodby. But at least the air-con will work.
Adam Othman it exploded, and got shoved off a cliff by mafia, "with a cigarette in his mouth"

The Muira roadster is one of the most expensive Lamborghinis in the world if I am correct, found in a barn by a man in Florida :)
That metallic blue paint belongs on a Bass boat not a sports car
I wonder if that was the original paint, or just what the current owner liked?
@@bigredc222 it was the original paint.. it looks stunning in real.. thank god it was restored in its original look...because the the ZN-75 version before was ugly.. also the color..

The Miura was known for lift and flexing. I can only imagine how bad it is on the roadster.
Jay, when are you going to have a Diablo?
Jay has two!
