You know him as one of our generation’s favorite comedian, actor, writer, producer, and former late-night television host. After grinding out stand-up comedy for years, he became the host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009. After The Jay Leno Show was canceled in January 2010 amid a host controversy, Leno returned to host The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on March 1, 2010. He hosted his last episode of The Tonight Show on February 6, 2014. That year, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. Before he made it big, Jay Leno slept in his car and crouched in empty LA homes. As a comedian and former host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show,” Jay Leno has enjoyed a successful and lucrative career. At the height of his time on “The Tonight Show,” Leno reportedly earned as much as $30 million a year.

Leno is a great man. He is super rich, but intriguingly relatable and down to Earth as an every man.
I'm from Newport RI but lived in Gatlinburg Tennessee now ..I've heard Jay shops at the local Stop and Shop grocery store and is so incredibly nice

Plus classic cars are a very good investment. Out doing the stock exchange by multiple points year on year. No fool, Jay.😎 Jay has put his money to work since day one when he was living in a ‘55 Buick! Jay epitomizes the American dream and I applaud him for it. 👍 (while all the while remaining to the rest of us just plane as dirt)
On average, every car and property he has bought has probably tripled in value or more. The real cost he has is paying his staff, who maintain his cars and manufacture parts for them.
Ok....now...with all these multi million dollar homes I've seen here...they are nothing...compared to this magnificent...beautiful estate. You gotta love JL ....I bet he is one down to earth gazillionaire who isn't stuck on himself. Thanks for the tour...and thank you Mr.Leno for sharing ....
Does he have a mortgage on the property? I guess everything he has is mortgaged. I wonder how much money he does have with all his debts.
I've always liked Jay. His act was always clean and hilarious. He was a worthy successor to the late Johnny Carson. His success is well deserved and his work ethic is astounding. I also love Jay Leno's Garage episodes. Leno kept the Tonight Show number one and it was ultimately taken (by Conan's Harvard buddy Zucker from CNN) from him.
he screwed Conan over. doesn't matter how clean his act was, he pulled an ahole move. I like both of them, but don't try to paint Jay as a victim in that situation...

I Live in Newport, know Seafare well, Jay a great guy, he involved in community, he helped bring Audrain's Car Museum to area, he gave his time for a one night comedy show for a local firefighter with cancer, he goes to stores, shopping on his own, he always gracious to fans, wanting selfies. I can't say enough good things about him.
BTW, speaking of sports, one of the X-Games founders lives here, that why the 1st X-Games were in Newport

We attended one of his takings for his late show. What a super nice guy. Nobody doesn’t love Jay except maybe Letterman. I know letterman from his first radio show in Indy. Nice guy too but Jay is a jewel.
Enjoy his show on Mondays "You Bet your Life". It is not easy to make it in show business and from his biography it was not easy for him.
Admired that house when I drove by last summer, never knew it belonged to him. Can't blame him one bit, its breathtaking. Love the area along ocean drive too quiet and with that ionic New England charm.
I grew up in RI drove by this residence all the time ....Ocean Drive is an amazing place to live

Jay Leno doesn’t have a house, those are just buildings he hasn’t turned into a garage yet.
My friend has been to Jay's garage several time because he is a side car racer who tried getting Jay to do it. Jay took it around the track and said no thanks. 😅 I'm not talking about racing sidecars like you see in the movies. Look it up the Isle of Man sidecar race. Back to Jay my friend said he is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Jay has said he's made more than enough money for his lifetime and for his kid's lifetime so he doesn't need more.

Not just the price of the house but it's got to cost a ton of money to keep it up! The lawns to mow, the taxes, upkeep in general, etc. I like it best where I live. However, if I had $400 million I'd have it to spend and no doubt would. Secret: Jay brought the Roadmaster to Newport so he can still get a night's sleep in it occasionally.
I read that upkeep is a cool $50,000 a month.
Imagine having enough money to buy a house on the spot. I can't even afford an apartment

The house you show at approx 5:35 is The Breakers, another famous Newport House, but not Jay's. Also, please learn the difference between "compromised" and "comprised". Hopefully, the upper levels are not "compromised", but "comprised of eight bedrooms..."

Great for Jay, he deserves it. Once after winning a Pebble beach Concours classic car competition, he remarked "Isn't wonderful when a millionaire can compete with the billionaires and win" Chew on that one for a while after watching this video and seeing his car collection (YT: Jay Leno's Garage)
I think no matter how many rooms you have, you end up in the TV room, the kitchen, a living room, in the bedroom. I don't know what the hell you do with the rest of the house? Except to impress your friends and family.

I'm originally from Newport and know where his house is. You would be foolish to try to show up there. Like all the other properties in the area you probably be met by dogs and security that won't be too nice to trespassers. Nice video BTW.

The address is 260 Ocean Ave, Newport, RI 02840. This took me a total of two minutes to find out using publicly available sources on the web. (i.e. Looking on google maps based off the ocean views provided) The whole "we're concealing the address so people can't find out" is outdated with today's plethora of information. Now that I've said that, just don't be that person who shows up on his front door uninvited.

What a great life , WOW.
Leno bought a mansion with 12 Bathrooms. What he has to also support is a platoon of Top Notch PLUMBERS just to keep 12 Bathrooms functioning in the 'Subject to Frozen Pipes' Northeastern USA.
Jay has not spent a dime he made on The Tonight Show, Jay often flew to Vegas after a taping did a show, flew back to Los Angeles, worked with staff on the next night's show and then went to bed, so everything Jay has is from other performances.
This is a well done video but the narration is way to fast. The words all run together and the pace of it makes it next to impossible to keep up with it. Slowing it down would make it much more enjoyable.

Normally I don't care where celebrities live but I live 15 minutes from Newport. While I know where this house is I will keep it to myself.
I drive by his house every night on ocean drive on my nightly routine to try and get my kid to sleep😂
We use to cruise the ocean drive as teenagers in high school. It was pretty much to ourselves. As nice as Ocean Drive and Newport may be to spend time in it is too crowded for me. I like my house in the country where it's very peaceful.

Jay Leno has proven that people love to laugh.
Anyone who thinks Newport to Boston Logan is 90 minutes away has never driven it. Even with no traffic in the dead of night it's nearer 2 hours. In any normal conditions you're not going to get it done in under 3. Evidence: I lived in Johnston Rhode Island, worked in Newport and regularly went to Boston Logan.
