That man isn’t only monetarily rich, but he’s rich in humility, humanity, and has a sincerity and zest for life that’s rare to see from regular folk let alone someone rich. This guy isn't like most of Hollywood. He actually knows where the 28lb bag of beans are, in his pantry. & enjoys cooking for family and friends. My point is that, he hasn't forgotten where he came from, & doesn't run his success's over the top of others. He is 1 example of why immigrants are so valuable to our nation. Like Joseph said some of his friends are tired of hearing can you help me out.... can you give me this or that...etc My daughter was driving home from work in the middle of a blizzard, she saw a car in the ditch, pulled over and offered to give them a ride back home. All they wanted was a ride to the nearest restaurant until their ride can come, however the restaurant was closed, so she stayed with them in her car, until their ride came. They enjoyed talking about their interests, current events, etc. They asked her name and contact info, and when their ride arrived, they asked if they could offer her $$ (all $100's bills). She said no, donate $ to a good cause of their choice. They did, they ended up giving $$ to a good cause of their choice.. HER. They ended up helping my daughter with school, internships/connections, and holding her wedding in their company retreat center in the woods, and most of all their friendship. I think if my daughter took the "$100's bills", it would have ended at that.... My experience if most "famous or rich" people just want to be treated like a normal person.

Holy shit. I think I actually sat next to this guy on a plane once. A trip from NY to LA. The airline upgraded my seat to first class because I had an issue with a previous flight. After the first hour I remember talking to him practically the entire way. He was such an interesting guy. I remember he told me was in the movie business and that he grew up in the Middle East, but I had no idea how successful he really was. Crazy. Awesome guy. Very humble and down to earth. I’d like to hear the full story some day.
@@kkonabill95 Yea I’m like 99% certain because he had a very similar demeanor and I remember after telling him I lived in Boston, he said he helped make the movie “Jaws” which was filmed in that area. It was also the only time I’ve ever flown first class and the guy sitting across the isle from me was extremely cool lol. I couldn’t tell you what he looked like, but the things he said and his energy always stuck with me.
I have never commented on your videos before, but I loved this video. I loved the fact that a person who immigrated to the USA at 18 yo, appreciated our freedoms more than some that were born in the USA & don't understand the privilege of being born in a free state. They are descendants of nomadic Asian hunter gatherer tribes that migrated across the Bering Strait land bridge thousands of years ago. So America really doesn't belong to them either according to your logic. I met Joseph in July 2022 at a restaurant in Nice France while on vacation. Him and his wife were incredibly kind and down to earth people. He kept telling me over and over that I need to get in to real estate developing and that if he could do it all over again he would skip producing movies and go right in to real estate developing. So cool to now see this video pop up and hear more of his story.

Renting, homelessness and adult children living at home is at an all time high and it's not because of the lack of housing, it's because of the lack of AFFORDABLE housing. Los Angeles has a sea of homeless people in a city where up to 15% of homes are empty. Why is that? It's because of real estate "development". Entire, once thriving, downtown areas are now devalued and rundown. Why? Because of real estate "development" i.e. building malls and suburban sprawl. Now the middle class is being crushed and is shrinking rapidly due to the even greater concentration of wealth in the hands of guys like the one in this video, who advised the commenter to get into real estate. Americans have drunk so much Kool aid their brains are dead.

Who would I be to judge another when I am trying to change my own negative attributes before I meet my maker? I don’t think anyone has the right to discredit another’s journey in this life. Dude as an immigrant from similar parts who also came with nothing and a student visa, this is so inspiring. The main thing he said was how busy we get in the grind and don’t think about what’s good for us.

I can see why Joseph and his wife were attracted to each other, they are unpretentious, genuine, and appreciative for what they have. They have shared goals- hard work, and family. So often with such a wealthy producer you would have the classic bimbo wife, and tons of phony affectations. What a fascinating interview! I was mesmerized by what he was saying, and also by his speaking voice, so soothing! Instead of putting on airs, he has a rather pragmatic view of his wealth. why on earth was this his best video? I agree it was a good video but I do not see this as better then some others. I can only hope you do not see this as his best video because of the guest in the video. because if you value stories from successful people better then from other people then I think you miss the whole point and value of what Peter is doing. Personally, although I liked the guy interviewed in this video, I find the stories about average successful or struggling people much much more valuable and interesting. I think Peter is at his best on those.

A lot of people get it handed to them, it's called generational wealth, there are a lot more people that get it handed to them then those that actually work hard and achieve this wealth from nothing.

Peter I would love you to do a wealth series or immigrant series Interviewing a whole range of people who came to America and started a life. Those with all different types of salaries ultra rich to working class (like me). Just seeing what life a person creates in a foreign country would be so beautiful and real. I am from Birmingham Uk and now live in Utah. We bought our first home last year. A humble life in a small Utah town. Coming from a big diverse city in England to a tiny American town has been a journey. Not sure how interesting it is but it’s certainly human. Peter you do an amazing thing ❤

As a small business owner I found this to be quite inspiring. I provide low cost mental health services to people. I do it because I love it, not to become rich, but I need to at least be comfortable. That’s hard to achieve sometimes. But, I feel if I stay creative and work my ass off I will accomplish my goals and that’s success. Joseph seems to have done what he loves and that’s why he’s successful.

I have to admit how prejudiced I was before I started watching and instead got a whole new idea about wealthy successful people in Beverly Hills. Joseph's lifejourney, lifestory and lifestyle was truly inspirational and mind-blowing. Wow, what a guy! 🎉👑👏
Unfortunately, he is one in a million, and had he come today, in this climate, economy and state of political situation, he would not have made it. We see the the tremendous disparage between the mega rich and the disappearing middle class that is more and more turning into the poor class. And it's like that all over United States. Most people are hardly scrambling by, I have to work two jobs to pay rent, pay my car payments, car insurance and I don't even have children. I am currently enrolled in a master's degree program unable to manage the cost of living, let alone my high tuition. Los Angeles is full of crime, poverty, and drugs. And skid row is expanding and growing coast to coast, it's littered with garbage, drug addicted, mentally sick individuals who are discarded by society, they defecate and urinate on the streets ;like animals, crime and lawlessness is rampant, and yet within a few blocks you have mega mansions, high rise apartments costing millions of dollars, you have Sunset strip and all the luxury brands. Reality is this man made it, but little is said about the thousands and millions of people who move to Hollywood in hopes to make it big and end up homeless, drug addicted and in morgues. That's not being addressed. I don't care that this one dude made millions of dollars because millions of people live below the poverty line, because not everyone can go into Hollywood and strike it rich and the notion that everyone can have the American dream is at best just a dream, but not a reality for majority of young Americans today and it's not because they're not working hard enough, it is because everything is monopolized and the corporations are exploiting the every day workers, paying them low wages and pocketing billions in profit, while the people that work for them can hardly afford their rent and food.

I was shocked when he said, "Maybe his son was killed in Iraq, and I remind him of that, I am going to give him the space for himself".... what a deep, mature, respectful, thoughtful perspective! My father was quite wealthy in his time. He was like this gentleman. Drove a nice vehicle, had a nice home but no flashy clothes, jewelry, etc. You wouldn't notice him in a crowd. Just a regular guy. People like this really are out there. Great interview...

This man, and his wife, are the salt of the earth. Quiet spoken, personable and every thing he speaks about is positive and uplifting. He agreed to do the interview in hopes of inspiring people, and I have to believe he has achieved that goal in all things he's done in his life.

He is relaxed, which is confused with humble. People in the US are so used to rich poeple being complete assholes, that when they meet one who is just friendly and not so pretentious, he's the salt of the earth all of a sudden. This guy is relaxed because he lives like a king. Salt of the earth mi culo... That is not what the expression means. When your bank account shows more than even half a million dollars, you lose the ability to be eligible for that term, just by definition. This term is meant for the forgotten, the downtrodden, the poor, who would still pick up a homeless person from the street and feed them, at their own expense. THAT is the salt of the earth. Not a multimillionair who got rich by making 'Bikini beach I II and III.'

5:55 - this is so true story. My father visited the U.S. in the late 1980s, colleagues also bought dog food thinking it was normal food. The reality for visitors from post-Soviet countries was quite different. They were given checks for small expenses, the value of which exceeded their 3-year salaries.
In Canada feed their friends dog food when they are drunk and have a darn good laugh telling the story later. I did have to chuckle at a couple of Josephs stories...lol! Very nice fellow.
Joseph, you come across as a very sincere man, a humble, grateful and authentic man. Someone i would feel privileged to know. We are also in the entertainment industry on the film finance side and as you know genuine people are rare. In addition, your advice for young people is invaluable and sadly your observation that they are largely unwilling to sacrifice is spot-on. The younger generation lacks the work ethic and the few who have it face the difficult task of finding suitable employees. We are about your age and have sacrificed immeasurably for our station in life. When we lost thirty years of wealth built up inch by inch in the “08 crisis my husband doubled-down and reinvented himself. After ten years of noses to the grindstone we’re seeing the fruits of our work. God is good. On another note - you’ve inspired me to eat more vegetables and to make my own hummus - which I always forget about but love. After this comment I’m googling a hummus recipe. Yum!
It's always foreigners who have a great perspective on success when they come to the US. Myself, and a lot of other Americans, I was born and raised here and yet I'm unemployed and live with my mom. The only thing I have to show for my time as an adult is my car, my high school diploma (if that even means anything any more), and some college credits. I was born with nothing, but at least I was born HERE, that's more than a lot of people like Joseph here. As Americans we need to realize that we have a head start. And I know easier said than done, I myself am struggling with drive, motivation, and discipline. And dont get started on the current economy and job market, but still, people are still coming here for opportunity. There's still something here.

My son is with who I refer to as “my future daughter in law” who is from Syria - I was initially nervous only because of what I suspected she had lived through as a child. I have so much more I’d like to say, however I’m in such awe and have so much admiration for him, that I could never properly describe what w wonderful man he is, how much I respect how his wife met and are still together, how he came to the US and made it to where he is today & more. Sooo humble of a spirit! My late grandfather came to the US from Cuba when quite young as well. He & my grandmother did not speak one another’s languages but were married within three months of meeting each other at a La a-par-hotel. They were marked for approximately 65. Both have passed away now. But he worked hard and made a name for himself around here.

Joseph seems so truly kind and humble. He made his way from something so small as a student visa and $400. My mother was an immigrant, as well as my grandparents, and they each worked so hard and made so many sacrifices to make a better path forward for their children and grandchildren. I will always appreciate the humble spirit and dedication that comes with such perspective. Joseph reminds me that good people are everywhere, even in multimillion dollar mansions - which can be easy to forget! I often assume the Uber wealthy can be “out of touch” and entitled, but he’s anything but! So beautiful to hear his perspective and reflections, and inspiring!

24:00 my dad was born in Egypt and he feels the same way, his family moved when he was really young and he just never looked back. He loves America now and is super grateful of the opportunity we have here, he invested in real estate to support our family and has an extremely strong work ethic.

Very inspiring. I'm from his era and grew up in the West LA area. A lot of people came from no money but worked very hard to make it in a variety of busines types. It can still be done, as he said, hard work and determination. Well done Peter!

This story resonates me so well as first of all are you up going to the movies in friending one of the managers and watching them for the entire month just like he did however was interesting is how he came through Palaka, FL neighbor to Gainesville via a visa is amazing! It’s true American dream!
I loved this video! Listening to Joseph speak was like listening to an old friend. What a lovely human being, for real. He should be teaching hard to reach kids and even some of the homeless you both were talking about. it depends where you come from I am from Switzerland and would never live full time in the US - we have free Uni, free education, good health care, no crime, guns but no shooting, road and airports that work, clean public transport and not many people in jail...

It takes a special talent to put people at ease like that, and draw them out. You didn't dwell on his possessions or wealth, but rather on the mindset and efforts that got him and his wife there, and what a story that turned out to be. They seem like a lovely couple. Like Joseph said some of his friends are tired of hearing can you help me out.... can you give me this or that...etc My daughter was driving home from work in the middle of a blizzard, she saw a car in the ditch, pulled over and offered to give them a ride back home. All they wanted was a ride to the nearest restaurant until their ride can come, however the restaurant was closed, so she stayed with them in her car, until their ride came. They enjoyed talking about their interests, current events, etc. They asked her name and contact info, and when their ride arrived, they asked if they could offer her $$ (all $100's bills). She said no, donate $ to a good cause of their choice. They did, they ended up giving $$ to a good cause of their choice.. HER. They ended up helping my daughter with school, internships/connections, and holding her wedding in their company retreat center in the woods, and most of all their friendship. I think if my daughter took the "$100's bills", it would have ended at that.... My experience if most "famous or rich" people just want to be treated like a normal person.

Holy shit. I think I actually sat next to this guy on a plane once. A trip from NY to LA. The airline upgraded my seat to first class because I had an issue with a previous flight. After the first hour I remember talking to him practically the entire way. He was such an interesting guy. I remember he told me was in the movie business and that he grew up in the Middle East, but I had no idea how successful he really was. Crazy. Awesome guy. Very humble and down to earth.

@@kkonabill95 Yea I’m like 99% certain because he had a very similar demeanor and I remember after telling him I lived in Boston, he said he helped make the movie “Jaws” which was filmed in that area. It was also the only time I’ve ever flown first class and the guy sitting across the isle from me was extremely cool lol. I couldn’t tell you what he looked like, but the things he said and his energy always stuck with me.

All thanks to the founding father's ideals of a good life, we live in the freest place on earth. I met Joseph in July 2022 at a restaurant in Nice France while on vacation. Him and his wife were incredibly kind and down to earth people. He kept telling me over and over that I need to get in to real estate developing and that if he could do it all over again he would skip producing movies and go right in to real estate developing. So cool to now see this video pop up and hear more of his story.

Renting, homelessness and adult children living at home is at an all time high and it's not because of the lack of housing, it's because of the lack of AFFORDABLE housing. Los Angeles has a sea of homeless people in a city where up to 15% of homes are empty. Why is that? It's because of real estate "development". Entire, once thriving, downtown areas are now devalued and rundown. Why? Because of real estate "development" i.e. building malls and suburban sprawl. Now the middle class is being crushed and is shrinking rapidly due to the even greater concentration of wealth in the hands of guys like the one in this video, who advised the commenter to get into real estate.

Yeah but you're not noticing that he has no respect for his family in Syria, he has left them behind and visited them just once in 50years, he was ready to change even it's origin in the first chance he got to become rich. In the first possibility he got to become rich he calls that place a heaven, and criticise his homeland in few occasions. He is a true American, and he inspires me in my own entrpreanural mission (currently small brick and mortar retail business owner in the raw pet food sector with big aspirations to help animals). Today (day after watching the video), I'm already making changes.
I can see why Joseph and his wife were attracted to each other, they are unpretentious, genuine, and appreciative for what they have. They have shared goals- hard work, and family. So often with such a wealthy producer you would have the classic bimbo wife, and tons of phony affectations. What a fascinating interview! I was mesmerized by what he was saying, and also by his speaking voice, so soothing! Instead of putting on airs, he has a rather pragmatic view of his wealth. Thank you for this very enjoyable, and most unusual video.

why on earth was this his best video? I agree it was a good video but I do not see this as better then some others. I can only hope you do not see this as his best video because of the guest in the video. because if you value stories from successful people better then from other people then I think you miss the whole point and value of what Peter is doing. As a small business owner I found this to be quite inspiring. I provide low cost mental health services to people. I do it because I love it, not to become rich, but I need to at least be comfortable. That’s hard to achieve sometimes. But, I feel if I stay creative and work my ass off I will accomplish my goals and that’s success. Joseph seems to have done what he loves and that’s why he’s successful.
You will never be rich with this type of business. You need to sell your products and became influencer!

I have to admit how prejudiced I was before I started watching and instead got a whole new idea about wealthy successful people in Beverly Hills. Joseph's lifejourney, lifestory and lifestyle was truly inspirational and mind-blowing. Wow, what a guy! 🎉👑👏
Unfortunately, he is one in a million, and had he come today, in this climate, economy and state of political situation, he would not have made it. We see the the tremendous disparage between the mega rich and the disappearing middle class that is more and more turning into the poor class. And it's like that all over United States. Most people are hardly scrambling by, I have to work two jobs to pay rent, pay my car payments, car insurance and I don't even have children. I am currently enrolled in a master's degree program unable to manage the cost of living, let alone my high tuition. Los Angeles is full of crime, poverty, and drugs. And skid row is expanding and growing coast to coast, it's littered with garbage, drug addicted, mentally sick individuals who are discarded by society, they defecate and urinate on the streets ;like animals, crime and lawlessness is rampant, and yet within a few blocks you have mega mansions, high rise apartments costing millions of dollars, you have Sunset strip and all the luxury brands. Reality is this man made it, but little is said about the thousands and millions of people who move to Hollywood in hopes to make it big and end up homeless, drug addicted and in morgues. That's not being addressed. I don't care that this one dude made millions of dollars because millions of people live below the poverty line, because not everyone can go into Hollywood and strike it rich and the notion that everyone can have the American dream is at best just a dream, but not a reality for majority of young Americans today and it's not because they're not working hard enough, it is because everything is monopolized and the corporations are exploiting the every day workers, paying them low wages and pocketing billions in profit, while the people that work for them can hardly afford their rent and food.
Yeah but you're not noticing that he has no respect for his family in Syria, he has left them behind and visited them just once in 50years, he was ready to change even it's origin in the first chance he got to become rich. In the first possibility he got to become rich he calls that place a heaven, and criticise his homeland in few occasions. Why not talking where is his father what happened with his mother, did he ever get there for their funeral, does he knows anything where their graves are at least. This is what we call runing after money and trying to become more christian than the pope!
This guy is so genuine, emotionally intelligent, secure man.. I was shocked when he said, "Maybe his son was killed in Iraq, and I remind him of that, I am going to give him the space for himself".... what a deep, mature, respectful, thoughtful perspective!

My father was quite wealthy in his time. He was like this gentleman. Drove a nice vehicle, had a nice home but no flashy clothes, jewelry, etc. You wouldn't notice him in a crowd. Just a regular guy.

This man, and his wife, are the salt of the earth. Quiet spoken, personable and every thing he speaks about is positive and uplifting. He agreed to do the interview in hopes of inspiring people, and I have to believe he has achieved that goal in all things he's done in his life.

He is relaxed, which is confused with humble. People in the US are so used to rich poeple being complete assholes, that when they meet one who is just friendly and not so pretentious, he's the salt of the earth all of a sudden. This guy is relaxed because he lives like a king. Salt of the earth mi culo... That is not what the expression means. When your bank account shows more than even half a million dollars, you lose the ability to be eligible for that term, just by definition.
This term is meant for the forgotten, the downtrodden, the poor, who would still pick up a homeless person from the street and feed them, at their own expense. THAT is the salt of the earth. Not a multimillionair who got rich by making 'Bikini beach I II and III.'

5:55 - this is so true story. My father visited the U.S. in the late 1980s, colleagues also bought dog food thinking it was normal food. The reality for visitors from post-Soviet countries was quite different. They were given checks for small expenses, the value of which exceeded their 3-year salaries.

Joseph, you come across as a very sincere man, a humble, grateful and authentic man. Someone i would feel privileged to know. We are also in the entertainment industry on the film finance side and as you know genuine people are rare. In addition, your advice for young people is invaluable and sadly your observation that they are largely unwilling to sacrifice is spot-on. The younger generation lacks the work ethic and the few who have it face the difficult task of finding suitable employees. We are about your age and have sacrificed immeasurably for our station in life. When we lost thirty years of wealth built up inch by inch in the “08 crisis my husband doubled-down and reinvented himself. After ten years of noses to the grindstone we’re seeing the fruits of our work. God is good. On another note - you’ve inspired me to eat more vegetables and to make my own hummus - which I always forget about but love. After this comment I’m googling a hummus recipe. Yum!
It's always foreigners who have a great perspective on success when they come to the US. Myself, and a lot of other Americans, I was born and raised here and yet I'm unemployed and live with my mom. The only thing I have to show for my time as an adult is my car, my high school diploma (if that even means anything any more), and some college credits. I was born with nothing, but at least I was born HERE, that's more than a lot of people like Joseph here. As Americans we need to realize that we have a head start. And I know easier said than done, I myself am struggling with drive, motivation, and discipline. And dont get started on the current economy and job market, but still, people are still coming here for opportunity. There's still something here.

My son is with who I refer to as “my future daughter in law” who is from Syria - I was initially nervous only because of what I suspected she had lived through as a child. She is a gracious beautiful intelligent girl and I feel blessed to have met her. I told my son he better not mess it up - he will answer to me ❤ great interview!! My late grandfather came to the US from Cuba when quite young as well. He & my grandmother did not speak one another’s languages but were married within three months of meeting each other at a La a-par-hotel. They were marked for approximately 65. Both have passed away now. But he worked hard and made a name for himself around here.
His appreciation for humor in times of stress is what makes him an absolute gem. The cat food story was incredible.

Joseph seems so truly kind and humble. He made his way from something so small as a student visa and $400. My mother was an immigrant, as well as my grandparents, and they each worked so hard and made so many sacrifices to make a better path forward for their children and grandchildren.
I will always appreciate the humble spirit and dedication that comes with such perspective. Joseph reminds me that good people are everywhere, even in multimillion dollar mansions - which can be easy to forget! I often assume the Uber wealthy can be “out of touch” and entitled, but he’s anything but! So beautiful to hear his perspective and reflections, and inspiring!
You can tell all that from a single interview? You really need more critical thinking skills and stop being so easily impressed due to the halo effect of wealthy/influential/famous people.

24:00 my dad was born in Egypt and he feels the same way, his family moved when he was really young and he just never looked back. He loves America now and is super grateful of the opportunity we have here, he invested in real estate to support our family and has an extremely strong work ethic.

Very inspiring. I'm from his era and grew up in the West LA area. A lot of people came from no money but worked very hard to make it in a variety of busines types. It can still be done, as he said, hard work and determination. Well done Peter!

it depends where you come from I am from Switzerland and would never live full time in the US - we have free Uni, free education, good health care, no crime, guns but no shooting, road and airports that work, clean public transport and not many people in jail...

You interviewed a wealthy man about being wealthy, all while treating him like an 'ordinary' human being, with courtesy and respect no different to how I think you might treat a homeless person. It takes a special talent to put people at ease like that, and draw them out. You didn't dwell on his possessions or wealth, but rather on the mindset and efforts that got him and his wife there, and what a story that turned out to be. They seem like a lovely couple. I recognize and appreciate the effort you put into this interview. I look forward to seeing more!!!
