I have watched so many videos on how to cut wood and yours is the first one to actually say that the knife doesn't work with the mobile app!!!!!
I have been sat here for 3 hours with only 30% off the project done because I'm on the wrong setting as it wouldn't find bass wood on the materials..presumed it was because I was in the UK so selected a different wood type to see how it went..2 hours later I'm googling to find out what I've done wrong.
Cricut seriously need to put in some form of instructions!!
Thank you, I will be ensuring to watch more of your videos before I test out new features

Thanks for video. I wish now that I would have found your tutorials when I first started using Cricut, especially the Maker for wood cutting. The design I chose was too intricate and parts did break. I thought it was something I did, but now know what the machine can do.
I will try again with a less fussy design.

Are there woods besides bassword and balsa that a Cricut can cut? I'm specifically wondering about the 3mm (~1/8") MDF that is often used for laser cutting projects. A Cricut would be a cheaper and easier option (no chance of a fire) for simpler MDF projects.

Oh it makes no difference at all. I keep mine all the way over most of the time because I just don't like moving them around! HA! You can literally put them anywhere on the bar and you are fine.

You still have rollers on the side that grip your mat. The white rollers are for extra security. But you can literally put them anywhere on the bar and it will be fine.

I don't have a cricut but im interested if I can cut out a template for painting. Would I have to use wood or would heavy cardstock work?

I have used cardstock and I have also used stencil material (basically a thin plastic).

Be care about what cutter you choose. I bought a Maker, and all the blades because it advertised the maker can cut hundreds of materials, including chipboard, leather and many more. Well, now even after investing in the Maker and all the blades they tell me my Design Space for iPad wont allow me to use my Knife Blade....very deceptive.

You might also want to mention that you need to calibrate the knife blade. It also would have been nice to see a design instead of shapes to show how it works on real life projects. Just giving some suggestions. Other wise, your instruction was good.

Ah yes I did neglect to mention the calibration! I do have some actual projects with it as well!

Great tutorial. For me there are far better options than this. Its pretty half the effort for standard. I'm just referring to the option of cutting with wood. Yeah not for me. The rest seems fairly decent. Is it possible to have the cutting happen at a specific point like the centre? This would be great for a geometric paper layered piece.

    • @AngieHolden

You could cut it wherever you wanted to I just did some example cuts.

Guess what everyone? Not ALL Cricut Makers will cut wood. I learned that the hard way and it is EXTREMELY frustrating considering I spent the money on a Maker, invested in all the blades, including the Knife Blade. I have the Design Space for iPad and am charged the SAME amount as the Desktop, but I can’t use the knife blade nor cut ANYTHING the knife blade can cut. Cricut is a deceptive company.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  4 года назад +2

Yes. It does not work with the iPad. Your machine will cut wood but you have to have a computer.

I have a brain injury and there’s lots I can’t do. Basic stuff I can’t do. Like use scissors or use a fork to eat. I bought a Cricut maker a month ago and love it. It took months to research what it does and how to use it before I spent $$$. Cricut wasn’t deceptive- you didn’t research properly

Nonsense! The Cricut cannot cut wood. I bought the most expensive Cricut machine, and it couldn't cut even balsawood, unless you let it run for several hours to cut the thinnest balsawood.
.....Do not buy this machine to cut anything except paper and THIN card stock. Buy a laser engraver/cutter or a CNC cutter. Those work.
