This 1981 Cult Dance floor classic gets a video makeover with Clips of the Enigmatic Fabulous Yoko Ono.. Fan made video no copyright infringement intended...
Happy Birthday Yoko. She might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, I think she is a remarkable strong, caring person. For years, we would write each other. We are all Walking on thin ice! Know that I surely am. Loved the song since it first came out.* Is the last song that John Lennon will ever be on. For the most senseless of reasons.
As much as I and many people think Yoko Ono doesn’t have any talent as a musician or singer, I have to say this is a very good song. The best from her, in my opinion.
Godko ❤🎼 the fear in her voice is palpable, the instrumentation is perilous and menacing, John’s genius guitar parts, eerily prothetic given what would happen shortly after the recording. Such a versatile song too in it’s many incarnations. Incredible hit, Yoko has a vibe and a sound no one can replicate. She literally invented new wave and punk rock.
Simply awesome! 😎 Ever since I heard this song on the radio for the first time in the early 80's, I knew there was something Japanese about it! I had seen many Japanese shows and cartoons back in the 60's and early 70's to be able to detect Japanese rhythm. Obviously, though, I assumed it was modern Japanese music made in Japan not knowing it was the work of Yoko Ono and John Lennon! So, somehow I pictured a sexy, curvy, Japanese dominatrix, with long, silky black hair flowing while dancing and wearing a tight, patent leather, sleeveless, short romper tied at the front with laces while wearing tall, patent leather boots as well! It was just like magic 🪄 to me! When you're a teen, your imagination really flies! 43 years later I still love it! 💕 Which means it's a masterpiece of popular music which 200 years later will still be played, admired, and listened to as a classic melody! Thanks for sharing guys! 👍
Excellent Song Yoko! Beautiful video capturing the essence of life and the times we are living in and capturing so clearly the banal and the mundane together!! This is the reflection of our contemporary life, that which we are living in, sometimes, unaware of our truest qualities and of what we are meant to be, how we truly affect others and exactly who we are!!!! A Truly GREAT Expression of our Love, without any embellishments!!!!! Thank You Yoko for sharing this Amazing and wonderful piece of Collective Artistic Mastery with us!!!!! 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
This first time I ever saw a Yoko Ono music video was on Beavis and Butt-Head, and I have to say that what I'm seeing here stands up quite well to my earlier impressions of her work as seen on Beavis and Butt-Head.
It’s a shame that you didn’t study music before it was featured on some mediocre animation. They loved to level criticism at artists but what was their shit about? Absolutely nothing that is of relevance today. Yoko is still getting the acclaim she always deserved.
@@j.c7719 How ever did you surmise that all that I know about music began with watching Beavis and Butthead? I am seriously impressed that you gleaned that piece of knowledge from my statement. Bravo! Sherlock Holmes is rolling over in his grave.
@@j.c7719 Rather, perhaps you meant: "It's a shame that you didn't study [or listen to] Ono's music before it was featured on some mediocre animation." If this was your intended statement, it's true, quite true.
You've done excellent justice to the music with this video--thank you for the inspiration; i think this may be my next piano/vocal cover. The song struck home for a long time but you really nailed the stark feel with the editing of this footage. Thank you for your time.
Since I overdosed on Fentanyl and been in a Coma for 5 Weeks I lost 70% of my Brain function and ruptured both of my Eardrums but Yoko One turned into my Favorite Artist
Love the old NY streets scenes. The Andy Warhol walls are pretty cool too. Yoko is the kind of artist who opens doors for those who aren't seen much of, who don't get a chance to express themselves in the mainstream. She is one of many products of two bombs dropped on her country, the devastating affects that changed her and others for life. It is what her being, her art is about. No one said it had to be what we think of as perfect or pretty. She is a voice, her only voice, that has been sent out to the populations, while still trying to be a person who is only trying to survive like the rest of us. And of course John saw this in her. He recognized her. Americans fail to see these things which should be no surprise at all since we are the one's who changed the world on that faithful tragic day.
Because they themselves have no talent or knowledge of music beyond a surface level. You have to have a deeper understanding of music, singing, studio recording and art to understand why Yoko is a genius.
@@nonameuserua Maybe that’s because you don’t have any prejudices regarding her music, it sounds great so it’s not hard to believe that someone who doesn’t have a knowledge of music or a preconceived idea could appreciate it. I didn’t either when I first started listening to her and I always loved her music.
@@j.c7719 You explained it very well, someone who only likes only "marketable" "acceptable" "common" sounds and forms of music, will struggle getting into Yoko and understanding her. But someone with true musical vision can see how creative and unique she is, which is more impressive than a good voice or marketable music to me, always was.
@@sxoresx Thank-you and yes absolutely and therefore people who criticise Yoko are really only revealing their complete lack of musical vision. No one has pushed boundaries as much as Yoko, no one can sound like Yoko, no one can write like Yoko. Her influence is enormous and her music is beautiful as far as I’m concerned.
Who did the actual calligraphy? Yeah, I’m reading Last Days of John Lennon. This music is just as grating and horrible as I remember it. (I’m sure this comment will disappear)
Then why did you even watch the video if you hate the song so much? Smh. I swear, some people are not happy until they have something negative to say about others.
@@MsAppassionata I probably have terrible taste but I do like the song.. it’s sound like a Bowie song which was made in a studio with a Debbie Harry vibe over it.. but maybe I wrong..
She's one of the worst wives in the world. Let's include Jill Biden, Meghan Markle, and Jada Smith to that list. No one would have ever heard of Yoko if she didn't marry you know who.

Yoko os beautiful. Never understood the hate.
I know. I have never met her, but she does not look ugly in this video. At all.

@Dash Overton John Lennon on guitar last song he recording and was working on the night he was killed.
She's a classically trained in piano, vocals and traditional Japanese music
@@crunch1757 i guess her training didnt work that much
Or it's a very complex aesthetic that most people (perhaps you?) aren't skilled or experienced enough to access yet.

I remember I had the biggest crush on yoko
So class
Tenía más de 40 años de no oír esta canción, la oí allá por 1981, ni sabía quien la cantaba, por los gritos no la olvido.
Yoko is one of a kind❤
A completely unique and disconnected person in the best sense of those words.
Fabulous song.⭐️❤️
Masterpiece
This song is awsome
I used to play this single over and over when it first came out
One of the only Yoko Ono songs that I actually enjoy
it looks so lonely to me watching her walking the street, i can only imagine how she was feeling.....RIP John Lennon
I love this song ❤️😍 I always have. 😂😂😂😂

“Fentanyl”. You sound ill, yes, but terminally American more than anything.
Dawn of the 1980's new wave sound. John Lennon even had a new haircut 80's style before he was killed.
This and O Superman were my favourite singles of 1981 joined (almost)by Tainted love and Don't you want me ... but overplayed.
Classic👊
I understand YOKO ONO...
Sorry but I do
still the most famous - if not notorious - japanese...
