I don’t know if you’ve gotten an answer to this, but the ‘maintence events’ lot challenge is for residential houses not residential rentals. Residential rentals have them by default unless you turn them off in your game’s settings.
So if you want to add the hot water heater or electric box to a normal (not apartment) house you can add maintenance events as a lot challenge to that house. Probably good for doing the handyman career from a residential house.

the mold thing, you have to leave puddles in the unit for the mold to trigger. also, the utilities, radiators, water heater, air con, needs to be inside i think. the stuff needs to break in order for maintenance issues. you are too on top of things for bad stuff to trigger lol. BE A WORSE LANDLORD KARLA!
I think the utilities need to be in public areas though? Either that or put one in each unit. And would using grungy and gremlin challenges increase the chance of mold, so you think?
@@bookcat123you can do either/or I believe as far as the location of utilities. Obviously it’s easier if you can get to them in a shared/common area.

I've thought ALL expansion worlds have been too small..... honestly? I haven't been the same since the open world from Sims 3. But I wanted to say thank you for sharing this one. I was curious about the EP despite the world size, it seemed to have a bit more to it than I thought there was.
Maybe someday I will be able to afford another PC so I can Sim again. Until then, I will have to live it through you and a handful of others. Happy Holidays 🎉
Even with a closed world, Sims 2 was hecka ambitious. You could litterally edit EVERYTHING about the map. Including how many and location of lots. Why Sims 4 just isn’t more ambitious I will never know. Closed world doesn’t have to mean no outside-the-lot editing tools. Especially since Sims 4 is heavily walkable outside the lot. If only there were more than costume buildings and deadspace.
@@TheDawnofVanlife That's true. Plus with 2 and 3, we at least had a world building tool. I loved creating my very own town and was able to share it with others or simply keep it for myself.

I love the idea of age specific traits, especially with the update that has it to where you have the option to get more traits as you play. It'd be cool if you also had the option to loose traits through gameplay as well.

@@user-nx2nx9rs6g Yeah, I know. What I mean is that now I can select what type of sink it's supposed to be. So now we can select that the bathroom sink is ONLY for the bathroom, and that the sims won't wash the dishes in there. They go all the way to the bathroom to wash their dishes instead of the kitchen sink right next to them way too often, but now we can make sure that they don't by just clicking on the sink and select which type it is.
Also can’t wait to see what the modders can come up with. They are the ones who can make this rewarding to play

The build and buy and the renting mechanic are what this pack is most about
I do like the new residential rental lot type as I have always considered having a nomadic Sim, one who lives in a world for a certain period of time before moving to another and so on. While the residential lot type would be perfect for my storyline idea, I am not interested in the expansion pack overall. Some parts of the world are beautiful but as you said, there is really nothing special to do. I wish that the tiger sanctuary was actually a proper lot, and you could go there to see tigers.
I think if I ever was to do the nomadic Sim thing, I would have them lug around a tiny house wherever they would move to.

Honestly the fact you saw everything within this "expansion" within basically less than 45 minutes is downright criminal and so lackluster, reaching new lows
As someone with hair down past my hips, I feel you on the not enough long hair in the game without CC. I still consider "long" hair as anything bra band length and longer, and then short anything from a bob upwards, and I think that's probably terribly out of date, considering how my hair has always been super long.
I really dislike how the units just empty out while 1 unit is active 😖 - they couldn’t just darken it or permanently leave those walls up? So much potential! Love all your vids tho, Carla. You’re too hilarious 😅

Just got this pack last night. For anyone who downloads it but the world isn't showing up, clear the EA cache. That's what worked for me.

You can move in anyone you want from manage worlds and as long as they can afford move in, you can have the rent set the way you want. I have been mixing and matching the EA ‘secret’ tenants you get when you search their ‘fill vacancy list’ and also just dropping sims in from the gallery and manage worlds when no one is generated from that list that meets my criteria.

Aight. so I got a copy of the pack and downloaded it and built some stuff and played in it a while. IF I were restricted to Tomarang with the apartments, I'd be miffed. the world is v. smol. As it is, I do generational plays. when I'm done with a sim I'm done. but sometimes they just piss off and I never see them again. I don't want that. BUT I now have a bunch of apartments to stuff them in on the same lot. So I can still interact with them and watch them wander around and make moneys offa them. I'm enjoying that a lot. Also, I really really enjoy building. The build-buy stuff is quite nice, the wood tones match, and then there's the dishrack. Who could hate that dishrack? I think it's nice that my sim can hold down a regular job and still have time for property ownership. The work and the money for EA quite obvs went into CAS (which I don't give a fig about) and build/buy. The pack is going to change the way I play in every world all the time. I feel that that's an expansion pack and I quite like the system, but the world kinda reminds me of a less-pretty Sulani, and was wasted money for this particular pack from my pov. I'ma hafta rebuild the whole thing for pop density. A SEA pack deserved better, and split-focus for the apartment system and a SEA world kinda left Tomarang feeling empty. So, is it an expansion pack by my def? yep. Is it one by EA's def of how much money they spent on it? Sure. Is it great? not really. Might it be essential for the way I play now that it exists? Yeah, probably. YMMV. Now excuse me, I have an apartment complex full of runaway teens to go take care of before they all end up locked in Don Lothario's basement.
I honestly think the community lots are they are just for the Sims to be able to Spond in a public area so they have access to places like the night market in tiger sanctuary.

I haven't bought this pack yet. I wanted to wait to see exactly what it was about, the gameplay aspect etc. After watching your playthrough I'm definitely waiting. The gameplay of being a landlord is not interesting to me at all. I will say the world looks beautiful but I can't believe how small it is

I love watching your videos! I cant wait to see more of these videos. The pack does seem a little lacking. I think on some of your units you didnt have the rules active. In my game I had some active and I would get rule breakers every few days.
Oh, sure all Sim ages can use the hopscotch but only kids can play marbles! That was a sad mistake that I hope EA changes quickly. Too many activities that the whole age range misses out on and what's the point of collecting marbles if you can't play with them 🙁

I've gotten this pack the same day it came out I was so excited couting, literally the days but again it was soooo poor in the simulation gameplay aspects. I am quite disappointed but actually not surprised, I was gaslighting myself thinking it wouldn't be too simple and boring but, man... I'm still gaslighting myself saying it is entertaining tho

I tought, the Boat House would be an on water lot type to live in and to build.
Also, Mayor Whiskers (the cat at 49:41 ) is from Brindleton Bay, he’s a stray there. Strange he’s in another neighbourhood. I’ve never seen him outside of Brindleton Bay unless one of my Sims adopts him.
In order to encourage mould, let the floor get wet and leave the water alone. Dampness encourages mould.

I’m surprised you didn’t experience many maintenance issues or mold. I saw some other videos and maintenance requests and mold issues seemed so rampant I was wondering how it’d be possible for my landlord sim to have time for themselves lol

Nah, the apartment was to clean. You need broken toilets and basically plumbing style messes for mold. deligracy can’t get rid of it in her lets play, it keeps coming back 😅.
