Cant believe I have only just seen this video. There was a period in my life where things went very wrong and I remember saying to my Mom, Why me Mom, she replied "Why not you, God must have known you are strong enough to deal with this" I didnt feel that I was, but carried on and came through the other side. Remember Darren that You ARE the Best person you can be, and you also have lots of support out there, you only have to speak out. You are a true inspiration to many people out there because you keep it real and honest and we thank you for that
Gosh I wished I had found this video earlier, 2 years ago my husbands business was devastated by covid, then I lost him suddenly! He was my carer as I had a nasty injury 3 years ago, all gone just like that! I found myself in such a state but was determined I had to live on, I have no family so sorted everything as quickly and best I could, never thought 2 years on I am here and surviving in our same home, not rich by any means but determination got me through, I watch all your videos , and love the side of London you show, I found you about a year ago, thank you so much and onwards and upwards xx
Dear Darren, I am just getting aquainted with your vlog history here.....I am 10 years older than you....but funnily enough, I went through a major mid life shift at the same age of 51...just like you.....I had to re-invent my life as well and I have never looked back.It is so good to see everything is working out for you too...You seem like you have so much to live for especially for your Children, friends and all of your You Tube Fans!!!! I am a great lover of RUclips...I find it so heart warming to see people get so successful with their channels....You are a Great Ambassador for your culture and country.Thank you for starting such a great channel!
I have enjoyed so many of your videos and can't believe I have only just seen this one. You truly are an inspiration and am so sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you are now in a much better place.
Watching this again with admiration. Covid massacred the tradefair company where I worked in France and after 16 years I was made redundant, coinciding with the first of four heart operations, my brother's long-term Covid and death. Can't say that I battled through...I didn't. Retreated into non-communicating depression and alcoholism. 2024 and the fight against drink has begun. Not easy but essential. To anyone with a similar experience...hang in there🙏🏽
im a seaman darren and from the 70s had hard times at sea. i felt the same feelings.losing jobs, long trips away ,weather that made me pray etc. i hit the deck loads of times. keep going when the winds against you pal,it will be behind you soon and all will be well
Good on you Darren. Along with 50% of our successful tradeshow company, I lost my job as our business tanked during Covid. Then I had a massive heart attack, two heart operations (including a double bypass) in the space of four months and another two heart operations in 2022 and at 62, little prospect of new employment. Also picked up diabetes and a kidney that has failed. Darren is an inspiration. Respect.
I've watched about 10-12 videos off the channel in the last couple of days ranging from food to personal stuff and I absolute love it. I am SO thankful to find a channel from someone who's happy to be honest, open, genuine and authentic. It's so refreshing and calming as there's so much other manufactured garbage out there on TikTok or whatever. God bless you Darren!
I’ve only just stumbled across this video! Because of you, I’ve found many new places (especially cheap eats) to eat when I’m on my day outs in London. Because of you, I found that apple crumble place in Spitalfields Market and often enjoy eating in the markets.
I’ve only just found this video from your link. All I can say is you are a true inspiration and I can’t imagine what you’ve been through but you have come through it. You are an inspiration to your lovely daughter. I work in a school and luckily remained in work through lockdown. I can now see why you are so excited to ride Daisy after having to sell your pride and joy. Keep up the great work
Darren , I don’t know why, but I have only just seen this video, it is very powerful, sorry to hear of your struggles . I have family in a very similar situation. I trust from recent videos that you have turned a corner and things are getting better, I hope so. I enjoy your videos, keep it up.
Thank you Roger, it was difficult times for alot of people. The pandemic will leave scars for everyone in lots of different ways. I'm one of the lucky ones to come out the other side. Stay positive 👍
I've suffered mental health all me life . . . Everyday is a struggle but you got to keep going no otherway! Look out for you friends and fam mental health at its highest at the minute. Always remember life is to live not exist. . . Wishing you all the best to better your mental health's 👍✌️
This video i stumbled across today, i related it to it so much darren. Just before Christmas i lost my younger 28 year old sister unexpectedly and that nearly killed me then This summer my brother in law and covid has destroyed my life pretty much. I got covid in june and was very ill it was scary at one point but i never gave in, Luckily i have the best partner in the world to see me through and beautiful children to wake up to everyday but your video i can relate to so so much darren, thanks for the inspiration and like you say never give up never give in.
Great video. I clicked the link from the Craicmaster page. Sorry to hear about you losing your job. You're definitely right. Having the support around you makes so much difference. Keep positive onwards and upwards. I have subscribed. Take care.
Hi Darren, I completely understand how you felt, after 21 years last November I was made redundant, I was absolutely heartbroken, I am so thankful I found the likes of yourself and the mac master to get me through those long worrying days...Christmas was destroyed to be honest...however I started a new job last week and so needed it for my mental health...thanks for sharing your story, take care , your a legend, if your ever in Aberdeen, give me a shout and I'll show you around beautiful parts of Scotland
Thanks Geoff, we all have our own story to tell. So happy you are working again buddy. Good for you. Our mental health is so important - especially in the world we are in now 🙂👍
I never knew you appeared on channel 4 Darren but I'm glad you shared your story. It was a bad time for all in & out of Covid times I can't imagine how those that really needed help couldn't get any help. My wife works for the Ambulance Service & there's times she came home crying at what she saw, I felt so sorry for her & all her fellow colleagues, it was a horrible period in all our lives. hopefully never again.
Hey bro great video. I had to sell my fireblade. Great choice of music. Powerful message. Thank you for sharing this. I can see this is from the heart. Sending you serenity 💛 Sounds like you had a great Dad.
Thanks Daniel. I believe we all have a story to tell. I was lucky enough to tell my story on Channel 4 news. There is always someone worse off, that is what keeps me going. Staying positive plays such an important part in our mental wellbeing. Stay safe buddy & take it twice 👍❤
I’ve only just watched this vlog Darren, I’d no idea you had been through all this. I admire your strength of spirit and positive outlook and I’m glad to see you’ve turned a corner now. It’s good to see you having fun now and enjoying life again. I’m sure your words will help people hang in there and give them strength to face new challenges. Everyone is struggling right now, but it’s good to remind ourselves of what we have and how a positive attitude can help lift us up. Thanks for being so honest Darren x
I only discovered this video this evening Darren, and I thought I seen everything you ever done,, you should be very very proud of yourself , we're you were then and we're you are now , fantastic Darren or as you say "off the charts"
I have been following your channel for a few months now and I wanted to see if there were any interviews of you (to know more about your chef background) and I found this one. Touching video, and I like how genuine you come across in your videos.
Just seen this Darren and have been following you for a while, love your honesty. Can’t wait to see your journey back to Thailand, take care and god speed !
As with others, I hadn't seen this vlog until the November 100 push up challenge, even though I have been following your channel for a while. You may not realise it but your vlogs are inspirational with your words and positivity. I am so pleased you have employment and your able to enjoy yourself once again, especially your family and friends and of course Daisy Duke. Keep smiling, keep positive and keep safe and well.
30 Dec 24 Just watching this video now Darren 4 yrs on! Just found it....I was made redundant after 21 years of working for the same company from 1975-1996 got a gold watch Our Company was taken over by another company...have had 3 nervous breakdowns over the yrs! Looked after mum 10 yrs straight was her full time carer too! Was very hard I can tell you! ❤🎉
Walking is very underrated. I live in Snowdonia (I was born here) and I'm lucky I live in a quiet part so I'm lucky. I agree with everything in that video.
Good man Darren. I’ve watched you for the past few years, and never new you were on Channel 4. I don’t know how I missed this. Very heartfelt Darren. We all go through different struggles at different stages. Stay strong my friend. ❤
So I’ve been following you now for I think just over a year? I must have “obviously” missed this one. It’s amazing how you managed to bounce back, after evidently being through such a debilitating time. I suppose I was one of the more fortunate ones that did not have to worry financially through the pandemic and I’m actually okay with not being around to many people being a country lass. So this was even more moving for me to watch. Positivity is definitely the key and thank goodness you seem to have that in barrel loads. It’s comforting to see such a nice man back on his feet, well done fella! Feet face forward it’s always good to look back but, just don’t stare (if you know what I mean). 😊💪🏻
This video made me cry.😥So happy your ok again,it has been very hard.I also suffer from mental health for the last 5 years.Follow your plans and not your mood my councillor told mood.❤️
Wow Darren that’s a very strong vlog . you’ve been through such a lot but you’ve come through it . . life has its ups & downs but we come out of it a different person sometimes , we’re lucky to have family & friends. try to have things to look forward to that helps me get through tough times . ❤️😘
Real touching video which brings back the feelings we were going through. I remember worrying news reports for people with chest complaints as I suffer with asthma. Nice to see you have come out the other side with such a positive mental attitude. I wish you well for all you achieve in the future cheers Darren 👍
Another fantastic video. Earnest positivity, it shines through that you meant every word. I’m so glad you had the support at the time you needed it. Thank you.
Hi Darren, it's Hung, I follow you and Lee all the time recently and always love your fun videos. I stumbled across this video and find it very emotional to watch, I work for a large organisation in the city who has made an acquisition and myself and my colleagues are worried as the company we are acquiring do the same work and more than we do, we are quite anxious of redundancy although it may not be immediate. We love what we do and it's never nice when uncertainty arises. Thank you for your video.
@@DarrenJohn it is so important. I am glad your back on your feet. Really enjoy your videos especially the ones with Lee. If possible if you could give me a shout-out. My wife thinks I have gone crazy watching your videos and the macmasters
Yes Darren I'm the same as Thelma in not seeing this honest heartfelt vlog before. I was under the care of a gender clinic and starting to transition until a breakdown. Now I'm just taking things day after day. Thank you for been so open Darran love..if only everyone could be so open.. this world would be a better place.❤
Only just seen this video, made me cry. So sad to hear this. Really glad you’re okay now. Good to see your vlogs since this, they always cheer me up. Take care please 💞
I subscribed to your channel a while ago from Daniel's channel but I have just come across this blog. It's so poignant and the music really pulls, at the heart strings. Wonderful piece of work x
@@DarrenJohn yes I imagine it was very tough, I think I have got the best job in these times, I am retired so I don't have the worry but it is a very lonely life when you live on your own but trying to keep positive, it's the only way x
I am amazed I didn't know about this video before also. The video was inspirational and still relevant to many people today as the effects of the Covid "torpedo" are still around! I also feel that prior to Covid, things were great and the future beckoned bright but of course that changed in what seemed like an instant! The message of positivity is still applicable and really always has been as the world has and will continue to send the odd curve ball that changes everything radically. Glad that you came out the other side and are generating such great video diaries and general interest content on your vlogs. Keep it up. You have provided a means for many people to have hope. God bless you mate!!!!
Fantastic video Darren. It’s been an emotional time for everyone, this video like many of your videos are great for me personally, very refreshing and a welcomed distraction for what life can throw at us. I hope you are still enjoying the walks. It’s never too late to refocus & move forward. Cheers
Wow Darren . You truly are an inspiration . Just catching up on your older videos . I work in a care home and have worked all the way through the pandemic and it's been very scary . But I've been also so lucky to still have a job . Youre doing amazing keep up the good word and stay positive . You are amazing X
Great vlog Darren.....i just got news today i'm getting made redundant, totally devasted 😭 Can't think straight at the moment, head in a total spin.....however tomorrow is a brand new day and i'm praying 🙏 i will have a more positive outlook on everything and know no matter how bad things get everything will be ok.....thanks for sharing 🥰
Absolutely mate...im in the far east and no chance of getting over to see mum in blackheath at the moment which i did eveey year prior to covid. But when i do it would be nice to meet up for a pint on the heath mate. Im just about the right side of 60 so we should have things in common. Take care
Watching ur old vlogs we have had 3 lockdowns missed my adult children over a year and a half kept positive by video calls reading as I was in self isolation as I'm asthmatic but I'm lucky ur video was and is heartbreaking 😭😭seeing ur recent vlogs of u happier maybe sometimes we need to stop and look at what we have and appreciate it💗💗life can go too fast we need to slow down and realise how lucky we all are and stop complaining because there is people at lot worse off than ourselves keep up the great work ur amazing👍😁😁
It means a lot that I could send a powerful message to everyone. Life is too short, we must be grateful of what we have. Stay positive & keep believing
First time I’ve seen this one, you look so different now, as in happy healthy content with life, looks like this was a dark time for you , I feel your pain mate, been there, more than once I’m sorry to say 😕, glad everything’s turned around for you fella.
Wow Darren, this video was so powerful to me, really felt the emotion from you in it. Covid destroyed businesses and really put people in unthinkable positions in a quick space of time. As you say we have to keep pushing on. Respect to you Mate. This video really touched me. 🙏🤜🤛
darren this shocked me been watching your videos for a while now you just don't know what people are thinking and there struggles my brother took his own life at 56 the struggle he must have been through and the thought that he couldn't ask for help a phone call or anything will live with me forever im sure that video will help a lot of people many thanks for sharing if any feels that down please seek some help
I know what you mean I was working all through lockdown as I worked in retail, and it was a very frightening time , with people just coming into look around when really they shouldn't be out at the Time
Mate, wow, I'm new to your channel, and have seen your recent videos, seems like you've done well and in a good place. What a really powerful video, hope your good pal.
@@DarrenJohn your right I don’t watch the news or read papers anymore Darren I am in to collecting vintage toys and American cars and traveling which helps 👌
Like the comments below, I can't believe I've only just seen this Vlog. You are so candid in your Vlogs and say exactlty what you feel and think. You've had a tough time just when everything kicked off with Covid and with being positive you've got now to a sucessful channel with lots of followers. Just before Covid, my girlfriend of 34 years decided to walk out of my life one day before my birthday. I know many many people will be relating many stories similar to this. I just want to say Darren a BIG thank you, to you for this channel in helping myself and others to get in believing in ourselves and staying positive in what is a very uncertain world. Keep up the good work and stay safe. 😉
Hi Darren 😊 ..Only just watched this I never realised what covid did to you both mentally and financially ..So glad to see you've bounced back so much stronger for it ..I have worked throughout the pandemic at a well known supermarket chain distribution centre.. I was pleased my job was very secure but it did affect my mental health still as I lived with an alcoholic abusive partner ..Only recently had the strength to say enough is enough and get out of what felt like a dire situation I'd got myself in ..Now I'm coming out the other side feeling more positive away from an environment that chipped away at myself esteem ...In life just giving ourselves that bit more of a push can make a huge difference in getting back on track mentally... physically..and financially with our lives ..Good on you Darren nice to see you in a much better place now and a happy one at that God bless you 🙏
Been watching you for ages loving the curries and the breakfasts but somehow missed this one. Such respect man, you’re one of the good guys! The son seems a good dude too so you’re doing a lot right 👍. Dunno what your view count was back when you made this but it’s now nearly 3.5 million views. Amazing.
@@DarrenJohn sorry no I mean your total views as a creator. You were probably quite small back then but now in total your vids have had millions of views.

G'day Darren I know what you went through during all the lockdowns I'd go for a walk I hated coming home to my flat I couldn't see my mum for three months at a time I couldn't stand my country or Sydney hopefully there's no more lockdowns in the future take care mate /Shane in Sydney
Your a lovely bloke mate as I see in your vlogs,we all got to keep positive and take each day as it comes, lucky my partner worked all threw the pandemic as a carer,I lost my job so I've become a house husband,so we are all happy 😊 take care mate and ill look forward to more vlogs 👍🏻❤
Darren everyone has suffered I personally each to their own i didn't agree with lock downs it messed with my mental health people wasn't being diagnosed for their illnesses family dying on their own whil the rule makers are the rule breakers but one good thing out of it now when you look back you made it through the other side and doing great take care

Very kind Brian, thank you

Thank you - tough times for everyone
Hi Darren, it's Hung, I follow you and Lee all the time recently and always love your fun videos. I stumbled across this video and find it very emotional to watch, I work for a large organisation in the city who has made an acquisition and myself and my colleagues are worried as the company we are acquiring do the same work and more than we do, we are quite anxious of redundancy although it may not be immediate. We love what we do and it's never nice when uncertainty arises. Thank you for your video.
Thanks Hung, so important to stay positive 🙂👍
@@DarrenJohn it is so important. I am glad your back on your feet. Really enjoy your videos especially the ones with Lee. If possible if you could give me a shout-out. My wife thinks I have gone crazy watching your videos and the macmasters

Yes Darren I'm the same as Thelma in not seeing this honest heartfelt vlog before. I was under the care of a gender clinic and starting to transition until a breakdown. Now I'm just taking things day after day. Thank you for been so open Darran love..if only everyone could be so open.. this world would be a better place.❤
Stay positive Rachel

@@DarrenJohn yes I imagine it was very tough, I think I have got the best job in these times, I am retired so I don't have the worry but it is a very lonely life when you live on your own but trying to keep positive, it's the only way x
Remember this sad 😔 time for everyone but hope is brilliant word if bleave this and being the best you can ever be so true dj
Thank you - means alot
I've only just seen this video... Today 13/05/2023.... Inspiring
Fantastic video Darren.
It’s been an emotional time for everyone, this video like many of your videos are great for me personally, very refreshing and a welcomed distraction for what life can throw at us.
I hope you are still enjoying the walks. It’s never too late to refocus & move forward.
Cheers

It means a lot that I could send a powerful message to everyone.
Life is too short, we must be grateful of what we have. Stay positive & keep believing
First time I’ve seen this one, you look so different now, as in happy healthy content with life, looks like this was a dark time for you , I feel your pain mate, been there, more than once I’m sorry to say 😕, glad everything’s turned around for you fella.
Thanks Rich, cheers
Wow Darren, this video was so powerful to me, really felt the emotion from you in it. Covid destroyed businesses and really put people in unthinkable positions in a quick space of time. As you say we have to keep pushing on. Respect to you Mate. This video really touched me. 🙏🤜🤛

Thanks Richard, it was tough to speak out
Very well said Darren, we've all got our own story and you're right, it's tough for a lot of people. Keep positive and stay strong 🙏👍
Thank you Terry & Sandra
Absolutely, a positive mindset will get us through.
Hi Darren 😊 ..Only just watched this I never realised what covid did to you both mentally and financially ..So glad to see you've bounced back so much stronger for it ..I have worked throughout the pandemic at a well known supermarket chain distribution centre.. I was pleased my job was very secure but it did affect my mental health still as I lived with an alcoholic abusive partner ..Only recently had the strength to say enough is enough and get out of what felt like a dire situation I'd got myself in ..Now I'm coming out the other side feeling more positive away from an environment that chipped away at myself esteem ...In life just giving ourselves that bit more of a push can make a huge difference in getting back on track mentally... physically..and financially with our lives ..Good on you Darren nice to see you in a much better place now and a happy one at that God bless you 🙏
Thank you for taking the time out to share.
Great to hear you are coming out to a positive stage in your life
Been watching you for ages loving the curries and the breakfasts but somehow missed this one. Such respect man, you’re one of the good guys! The son seems a good dude too so you’re doing a lot right 👍. Dunno what your view count was back when you made this but it’s now nearly 3.5 million views. Amazing.
