HOW SAFE IS AN EN-A "SCHOOL" PARAGLIDER ? - NOVA PRION5

  • It's difficult for a beginner to really understand how safe a school glider is. In this video I demonstrate with the most common flying incident how safe your Basic EN-A is.
Most of the paragliding accidents happen because pilots tends to overreact to any problems in the sky and they are just doing everything wrong. When I teach SIVs I try to show to pilots that their EN-A wings are actually very safe and that they can rely on it. If they don't understand or are in doubts it is better quite often to just let it fly and do its job.
For this test I have been using the latest school glider from NOVA the PRION5 XS. I was 2kg under the max TOW.
You can visit our flight school for information about our SIVs at : www.riseparagliding.com
    Pilot : Théo de Blic
    Wing : Nova Paragliders - PRION5 XS

Perhaps someone here can help me ...... I fly Hang gliders, will be starting my PG course in 2 month ..... Is it worth buying an EN-A , or should I wait for an EN-B ? How much difference are the 2 gliders and what will I be losing with an EN-A performance wise ?

What is your opinion on starting pilots progression into highB gliders?
if the pilot is flying a lot and has a decent feeling in the air on A/ low B gliders would you recommend buying a high B as the first glider, at around 40 mountainflights and before pilot certification.

    • @mcbrite
      @mcbrite 3 года назад

In what country have you been trained? I've done something similar, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it to the average pilot... And I did an SIV straight away with my old and new wing to compare...

@@mcbrite I am being trained by Dutch instructors in Italy, bassano and ahornach. Bought the wing after asking the instructor and he said the wing isn't to high for my skills at this point, already flew it and I do like the responsiveness. But I also realise it needs to be flown differently then A/low b. Already have 6 weeks flying scheduled for this year and a siv course at the end off the year

@@mvn4844 Sounds good! What's the wing? - I think considering what you just told you'd be fine. First concentrate on making the "active flying" (controlling pitch with the brakes) automatic. That together with the SIV and maybe a bit of ground handling (early) should see you alright!
