This was part of the soundtrack of my middle school and high school years. From what I understand, the waitress on the cover of “Breakfast in America” is still with us.
This is an early entry from Supertramp, about five years before they worked themselves up the level of The Logical Song or Take the Long Way Home. Cute and fun but only a foreshadowing of where they would go. Good reaction.
This brought back some fun memories of the late 70’s. I also sang this song quite often to the kids in the early 90’s - when they ‘needed’ some new gadget or expensive trendy clothing…. You know you are a dreamer. 😂
Same show 1974 BBC Old Grey Whistle Test Supertramps Second track Rudy. Shows just how musically and vocally talented they are, watch video closely for shared keyboard and guitar pick in Hodgsons mouth. Fantastic music loads of memories.🙏
Check out "Bloody Well Right," "Breakfast in America," "Give a Little Bit," "Take the Long Way Home," and "Goodbye Stranger" to hear some of their best. "Dreamer" isn't one of my favorites either... but the others I listed are fire (up there with "The Logical Song.")
Dreamer is best heard as part of the entirety of the Crime of the Century album. Both Crime and Supertramp's Even In The Quietest Moments albums are two of the best of the decade. Breakfast In America, from which The Logical Song comes from, is a great album, but the aforementioned two are even better.
You mentioned Manfred Man. I recommend the title track of the album “ The good earth “ Give me the good earth. They play a live version that can be seen on Utube from the BBC’s The old grey whistle test. When I sold a lot of albums to put petrol in the motorbike this is one I kept and still have it.
Not sure if you've ever done it, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on "Our Prayer" by The Beach Boys. They took harmony and took it 1 step up as you can here the step by step in note change.
The audio mix in that Supertramp video seems off - doesn't really do the track complete justice. Also, I'm a huge fan of the live version, as found on their double-album set Paris.
C'mon Maggie. Logical song vs. Dreamer. You're right. Logical song is more clever, and a better overall song. But I can't believe you didn't take note of John Helliwell playing the crystal goblets in Dreamer. Probably the only time in rock music history crystal goblets have been used as an instrument.
Yeah, it’s not The Logical Song. The logical song is the logical song. This is a DIFFERENT SONG. It’s Supertramp. They do songs, not just one song. So weird, each song they do is different! Too logical?

Been ages since I've heard anything from Supertramp, it's nice to hear them and remember how much I enjoyed them back in the 70s.
As an 66yrs old, this brings back soo many great memories 😊😊 great group ❤️
"Dreamer" was the song that got me into Supertramp, back in the day
You’ve just dived into a rabbit hole with Supertramp. Bloody well right, is a banger of a song
That Wurlitzer with nice chorus that Roger is playing has always added to this already marvellous song for me.
Love Supertramp! I think you’d enjoy “Goodbye, Stranger” and “Bloody Well Right” as well as so many more…truly awesome band….
I remember my brother coming home with this album ,circa 1974.Crisis what crisis.Great album...
Love their harmonies.
A beautiful song I’d completely forgotten about!
Supertramp were an awesome band back in the day. I lived their music then and it still sounds wonderful today.
was lucky enough to have seen them back then in a very small venue. they were fantastic.
I loved dreamer….it was so different when it came out…..take the long way home is a good song.

Thank you for reacting to earlier Supertramp! Give "Child Of Vision" a chance someday!!
I never noticed he was playing water glasses before…
Very catchy keyboards. Did you notice the guy playing the rims of wine glasses.
I’m always fascinated by the rhythm keyboards done manually.
You really, really ought to hear "Fool's Overture".
Agreed!

School is one of their best songs.

I remember when the live Paris album came out. Dreamer was the single they released.
I think you'd like their song Give a Little Bit.
That was an unappreciated album. Peace, Love!!

My fave from Supertramp!

That is a killer riff
Roger wrote this as a young man and made the demo using household stuff for percussion and his mom’s keyboard/organ.
I'm very surprised you haven't done VoicePlay's Phantom of the Opera yet. That should be right up your alley.
Not sure if you've ever done it, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on "Our Prayer" by The Beach Boys. They took harmony and took it 1 step up as you can here the step by step in note change.
this song has not aged in fifty years
Hi Maggie you must try Mike and The Mechanics "The Living Years"
This was my favorite Supertramp song until I heard Child of Vision.
Crime of the century is their first album.
First successful album, not their first album they made. They did 2 before “Crime”.
@@kentnottingham9635 what were they?
I think the studio version has a more dynamic sound.
It is studio
More Supertramp? Try "Give a Little Bit", "Even in the Quietest Moments", "Lady", or "Take the Long Way Home".
A Bob Ross shout out. Nice. R.I.P Bob.
I thought you may have remarked on him playing the musical glasses, not something you see every day.
As a singer you might like “it’s raining again”
every song o this LP is good if not great
Another blast from my youth Maggie. It was very dominant at the time but a bit dated now.
I prefer their Crime Of The Century album, particularly School, Rudy, and Crime Of The Century itself
Could you please do "Sometime World' by Wishbone Ash? Its a beautiful song with one of the great guitar solo ever.
👍❤️❤️
Maggie, I am is you Reaction Dimas Senopati Cover ( Indonesian )🙏 please, pliiisss
Please listen to Enya - Caribbean Blue.
You might find it stays in your head mind lol
The audio mix in that Supertramp video seems off - doesn't really do the track complete justice. Also, I'm a huge fan of the live version, as found on their double-album set Paris.
gd ole st, so mnay gd songs n qs
Try "School"
Please react to Spargo-Just For You
Can you please react to Sydnie Christmas on BGT?

video needs a bit more volume

There are many better sons on Crime of the Century that you Must Listen to.....School, Rudy, Crime of the Century!!!!
fools overture you might find intriguing
That was different. Not my cup of tea but cute in a way
