Well, the majority of the time it's said more as some type of pleasantry than as a genuine question anyway. I think we're all good sticking with, "fine."

If it's any consolation to you, as an (introvert) librarian I can assure you a lot of people tend to ask that same question or something similar, so I don't think much of it and proceed to ask 'what title are you looking for?', because I assume they mean a specific book. As far as awkard situations go, believe me, I've heard much, much worse.

-I wish this person would stop talking and leave me alone
-I'm bored, I will just nod and smile like I'm paying attention
-I'm busy but busy means I just want to ignore you and the entire world for the next few years
-I will think about it, more like I won't and make an answer up the next time we talk right on the spot
-Tell me the date of the event so I can try to actively avoid it every chance I get because people bug me.
(The list goes on. This is mostly toward people I don't really like to spend time with. I have a few though that I genuinely love to spend time with any chance I get.)
Me in my mind: hey dude how's it going?
Me irl: **stares intensly at the floor avoiding eye contact**
I sit like “do they really want to talk to me or is it just cause I happen to be here?”
I feel this. If only it's socially acceptable to just say, "we don't really have to talk, you can stop. You don't have to talk to me. I'm totally fine with the silence" to anyone trying to make small talk with me. It's really so much more refreshing and meaningful to me if I'm with someone whom I can be comfortable enough to sit in silence with.

I'm an introvert but when I'm in a talking mood I talk a lot (to my friends). The problem is, my voice is really monotone so people often don't hear me well, I mess up my words because I speak quickly and I jump from a topic to topic before finishing my sentences. It's a mess. :DDDD However, I figured hand gestures and imitating the words I can't remember is an effective way to communicate.

The prefix ‘anti’ means against; ‘a’ means without, or lack of. While ‘antisocial’ denotes preferences against society, or social order, ‘asocial’ refers to individuals who aren’t social. I assume that you meant asocial.

I used to have a job that was 60% calling patients. I was always SO happy when they didn’t answer. My practiced voicemail skills are WAY better than my impromptu phone conversation skills.
I always let it ring, then listen to the voice mail, then call back if necessary!
I want to know what we’re talking about BEFORE I answer the phone.

So true. For me, that includes them as well as anyone they may be associated with because I fear I might screw up in front of one of their friends and then they go back and talk about my screw up to said person.

This is the real reason I've lived nearly thirty years in a foreign country & have never studied the language. I just don't have to know what other people are saying it interact with them. Such a huge relief. Go back to the US and everyone is so damned extroverted & in your face I can't wait to get back to where I can go days without having to speak to s much as a supermarket clerk.
People: "Hi"
Me: "Imma say Hello because I didn't expect to be greeted and could only react like that. Now I will spend my time thinking about if it was ok to say hello, or if it was too formal compared to the usual hi. I'll most definitely also blame myself and say I'm a horrible human being and totally untaught about any kind of social interaction. Excuse me while I think about the possibility of hello having a different meaning than hi, and me having indirectly insulted you now which I totally didn't mean to. I'll just awkwardly either look away or leave and not look you in the eye while I do so."

oof,, I felt that 😔 even when talking about an anime I’ve watched since childhood and absolutely adore and can quite literally quote several episodes all the way through... before posting something on my story or texting someone, I just gotta google the spelling of Yugi real quick... just in case.

Holy fuck yes! Everyone I know does that, which is especially annoying when they ask me a question then interrupt my answer, usually with another question that's completely unrelated to whatever I was trying to say.
Then when I counter-interrupt to finish my original thought, they get mad at me because I interrupted them, but can't understand why I suddenly just stop talking all together. I want to tell them, "I'm waiting for my turn to finish talking," when they ask what's wrong but of course I actually just say "Nothing."

I don’t know if it’s a millennial thing or an introvert thing but I am allergic to talking on the phone. I stayed with a hairdresser I didn’t like very much for too long because he preferred to make appointments by text. So grateful for the ability to do this kind of stuff online now.

I try to understand them and help them understand their worth from then on... coz as an introvert,u have lot of positives.I can't explain everything here,u can find it out from the internet by yourself.It will help you to understand your worth... and regarding your job,I don't know how to help but once you come out of that situation,dont scold yourself too much.Accepting the way you are helps... ❤ for introverts.
