Nice review! Big thumbs up for me regarding the Rolling Jackass kickstand. I've had mine for nearly 10 years on my Xtracycle FreeRadical conversion. I did hesitate in spending $350(price 100 years ago) for a kickstand on a bike that new was $400 when new (prior to the Xtracycle conversion.) But after swapping out the crappy double-kickstand I already had on it, my "Is it worth it?" worries were gone! It's such a game-changer when loading up groceries and other heavy stuff. Plus being able to deploy it without having to reach back with your foot makes things so much easier AND safer.

I agree. For cargo bicycles I have seen nothing of it's equal.

Great review 💯 I'm glad your satisfied with the bike. I did enjoy this. I do think you have earned the right to put an electric front hub on it . With a throttle to help you push it here and there .

Have one on order here in Japan. It will be the new frame (assuming the wholesaler in the US has inventory), but for my needs it should be fine. Thanks for the video and review, looking forward to the ride.

I have a buddy that rides his 2012ish era curved top tube Big Dummy just about everywhere, including XC style singletrack. Always amazes me how fast it rolls for as heavy as it is.

Love the older curved top tube frames wish they had kept that design. And yes the Big Dummy can be very fast if you have the muscle to move it. It really is a tank of a bicycle.

@@CargoBikeCowboy it's all about carrying your momentum as long as you can. Getting them back up to speed is what really takes the muscle. And climbing hills.

I would love to see someone ripping on single track on one of these limo bikes✊😎💯.

Cool. I just got a float tube for fishing. I want to take it 15 miles from where I live. I have loaded all the stuff on my Fuji Jari steel bike, pump, waders, float tube and fishing gear with PFD. It is unsafe on the Jari. I hope I can upgrade to a cargo bike soon. Thank for the lowdown cargo bike cowboy!

That is a fabulous looking bike and I really like your personal additions to make it even more practical. It would have been nice to have had a walk around giving different views and angles. Keep on pedaling!

When I do a review of my bicycle and my new trailer, I will be sure to do a complete walk around and get different angles. Thanks for the tip.

That’s why I didn’t buy a big gummy and that’s why I bought a Yuba Mando, because surly is changing their business model. I don’t know what they’re changing it to. I think of all the good bikes that they no longer manufacture thoroughly is no silly is not going in a good direction.

They need a 29er version....still don't know why they don't do that. 25 miles with your girl on the back had to be a workout even with the old school triple chainring setup💯✊😎.

It was a great workout, but was very happy I still had the strength at 50 years old.

What is your total mileage on it?

    • @CargoBikeCowboy
      @CargoBikeCowboy  Год назад +2

I could not honestly answer that. I do not have a cycling computer on it and rarely keep track of mileage. The day I spoke of in the video we had to sit and figure it out when we got home. I just love to ride.

Empty, just how different is it to ride it than a normal bike?
I think that's a lot of people's fear, that it will hold them back more than even a heavy old cruiser or something...
Will one still go the same distances by bike...and so on...use it casually for pleasure...

@michaelkulman7095 The Big Dummy weights in at 55 pounds empty. It's a heavy steel bicycle. That being said, to me, it is no different than riding any other bicycle. It has a triple chain ring on the crank and a 10-speed cassette on the rear wheel, giving it 30 gear configurations. Once your legs get conditioned to the weight, especially when it's loaded heavy, it is no problem. This thing is a tank. Once it's rolling at a good clip, if someone were to walk or cycle in front of you, I can guarantee they are going to get hurt.

@@CargoBikeCowboy Thanks for the reply. What you said makes sense. I can also see why you questioned their decision to change the gearing, in the video, as well.

I’m just gonna post this on the first video that I come to how are you guys doing tonight everybody
So if you go to TikTok and you just put in the search bar cargo bike living,
see what you come up with. I’ve been finding it by accident tonight about 20 minutes ago. What a brilliant idea.
I wish somebody would’ve told me about this
So I just wanted to let you and community know what’s going on here. I really enjoy it.
Do you know when you’re gonna be putting in another video?
I’m sure you’ve been busy with work, but I’m just curious
