Very few bands last that long. Fewer still make records that are really good after 20 years. Sloan's newer stuff is better than that. Great! Check them out live if you get the chance; you won't regret it!
Sonic Youth as a power pop band - for this song anyway. I don’t think Sloan’s ever written a bad song - and that’s after 30 years with the original lineup!
These old low budget videos are so much better than today's crap. This video is imperfect/grainy and the band are natural and awkward they are just fun to watch. Everything today is too perfect and the videos are boring to watch and everyone acts like they are so awesome.
this is one of my very favorite Sloan videos - it's really pure, and everyone is so adorable. This is the perfection of the 90s teen dream - or in my case, the 20-year-old dream :)
This song is the soundtrack to my final years of high school.... a time when I got to interview Sloan not once, but twice for our local college radio station! Still love Sloan, one of the most consistent bands of all time. Every album of theirs is killer!
Sloan, something that is more real than real, what you understand your sound is, nirvana, ramones, Led Zelplin, actually Sloan transcend, just because they never were in the limelight they are out of this world
Some of Sloan's best work, right here. Music the cool kids were into. This vid was on heavy rotation on MuchMusic when I was in high school circa early '93. This band became a major influence on me.
Totally forgot about this one... Going down memory lane tonight 💜 Used to jam to your songs many moons ago with a couple of buddies and I was almost in high school when this came out. You guys should be waaay more well known... Pretty sure this one's my fave! Very happy you guys are still doing this and I hope everyone is well
@@WWilson67 Nope--that's most likely the Queensboro in NYC. It's certainly not the MacDonald or the MacKay bridge. Also, those are NYC taxi cabs in the video.
Chris Murphy said at his last acoustic set last Sunday than Smeared will get the box treatment that Twice Removed, OCTA and Navy Blues has received. No release date yet - I just hope they change the cover. Definitely one of the ugliest covers to an album ever!
Fuck..... i miss the 90's
This song is 27 years old and these guys are still putting out albums and touring! Love it!
Got tickets for Sunday's show in Moncton

I just introduced my oldest daughter to Sloan. She is not underwhelmed. Got a new fan.

One of the coolest and truest comments ever
Personally I love the drummers voice. It kinda makes me feel things. I would hug him if I ever met him lol.
Andrew....just...Andrew
Am I the only one who likes The Drummers singing???
No.

right on
Best music video and song put together ❤
First heard this about 30 years ago. LOVE this song!!
How did they have such a good sound at such young ages? So cool that they're still making music today.
sloan, one of my fav bands of all time.

i already loved this song but this video is something else XD
Best song after all these years

kick ass song!!!
I was hooked after the first 30 seconds.
Murphy’s Rock N Roll Over decal…🤣 Mint!
Great Band!! I got to see them live in Detroit twice! Love this band and their great timeless
music!
Wow this takes me back. Such a great song
SLOAN are real cool
Great flashback to youth
look at them
they were babies
This song reminds me of smoking joints while delivering pizzas and hoping I’d get laid for a tip in 1993.
This song is channeling The Meat Puppets hard and I love it
🤘🏻🤘🏻
I still hope for more adventures with the little chicken in the Barbie car.
:D
I’m just wondering how they got the Barbie-cam on the car and into downtown NYC traffic safely!
#muchmusic
What kind of fender is that
Does anybody know where this was filmed?
New York i believe
NYC

What a Teenage Riot!
Where was this shot?
Queensboro Bridge NYC and area.
@@scott12xu Thanks, Boston Guy I.T.M!

Someone from Sloan's team has said yes there will be a re-release box set of Smeared and no they won't change the cover.
I love the cover!
Only one of theirs i really dislike
Did you guys pay Sonic youth royalties for this one?!!!!
On the guitar yeah - but since when did SY ever harmonize nice melodies so well, if ever?
@@marvinm.messier1120 don't try and stir up trouble. They were clearly obsessed with Sonic youth and trying to sound like them.
@@davidlevy4291 wow- I can hear SY
There is absolutely nothing shoegaze about sonic youth, and this song is all about the shoegaze. Try again.
@@AVirtualTourist no. I tried right the first time. Sonic. Youth.....also to say there is "nothing shoegaze" about Sonic youth is absurd.
0:59 Hmmm.Did they use an orchestra sample from The Beatles? "A Day In The Life"?
