Alton Towers was so busy! We got on one ride in 5 hours!

- So we arrived at 9.50am into the park quickly. collected our drink bottles and headed up to the first ride of the day Smiler! having waited 2 hours for this ride we had a quick break before heading towards thirteen.
2h 30m later we get informed the ride is shut for the day and to leave. We were almost at the front so had to leave from that point.
No staff Members around! Others around me very upset. More than me it has to be said!
I knew things would calm down after 4pm. We left the park at 6:30pm Thankfully the park shut at 6pm and not 5pm
Park seemed too busy and too many rides had faults.
Sort it out merlin you can do better!

Hi Dave & Dawn. I was going to share this much later after the Scotland series but I wanted to get it out as it was only last week! Yes we were able to get on some rides at the end.
It does look like a nice fun place. If I waited that long I’d be fuming too. The gardens looked beautiful. It seemed like the day got a little better. Gen and I went to an amusement park last month but we didn’t film it. She needed a break. We just spent the day enjoying the place without any cameras. 👍15
Yeah it definitely got better as the day went on. I just used my phone at the theme park. I don't take other cameras in! The gardens are a nice welcome break from the rides.

Been in that situation when I went to Disney World.
It's horrible situation to be in. I had it as disney but they gave us a fast pass and a vip area to sit in Pandora to enjoy some free cakes and drinks!

This sounds like such a frustrating experience.
Definitely for most of the day. It could have been worse as I had seen people whonpaid a lot of money for fast pass in queues also of around 30 mins. Probably why they wouldn't give us one. Bit 2 hours 30 mins was a ridiculous amount of time to wait and then be told it's shut. They said it would be down for the day then re opened 1 hour later.

It's good, however annoying with the frequency of break downs. Knew it would be busy however should have offered something like a fast pass for the 2h 30m we waited
Sounds frustrating, they should really try to limit numbers to stop that. I bet their reviews were bad that day!
Sold out day, a few ride break downs, lots of fast pass, made it difficult until 3pm then it did improve once trips started leaving. Nightmare probably won’t go that time of year again!
Makes great video Raymondo! But like you I can’t be a&rsed with queues. Yesterday hundreds of school kids so no war museum for us.
I don't mind a line of people but not 2h 30m and then not getting on the ride.

Man that bites not being to get on the rides you wanted. Especially paying what you possibly did.I hope the kids were not to disappointed.
I felt really sorry for those around me who had the one day out, in front a family with 2 kids who had booked accommodation also, and behind me a couple and teenage son who paid for a day out who had been on same ride as us and basically did the same as us but needed to leave the Park at 5pm. I have a season pass so not as bad but still annoyed so much time was wasted. Lucky for us we could stay until 6pm which made up for it!
I don't think i have ever seen you get upset before Ray. 2h 30m is a long time. No offer of a fast pass at all? No wonder you were upset. At least you got onto rides late on!
Yeah from 4pm it was fine! Yeah I was annoyed after waiting 2h 30m to be told ride is shut for the day. Also guess what it reopened 1 hour later!
Ah, my last visit was 2002 and for me disappointed and boredom outweighs excitement 10 fold, I love oblivion and nemesis and the old corkscrew but the rest of it I can do without, it’s just not for me… sorry you had such a bad time too.. it leaves a bad taste the way you was treated
Well for me Lee as you may know, I love the rides and the theme park (Aleays have) especially wickerman, NEMESIS, smiler and the rapids but waiting for so long i was frustrated! Only saving grace was they were open until pm so we were able to get the rides in from 3.30pm until 6pm
