Moments like this remind us of the bravery and teamwork it takes to be in law enforcement. From the rookie's quick instincts to the trooper’s genuine care for his team, it’s clear these are the kinds of people who make a real difference. Huge respect for their courage and humanity. 🙏🚔

This is what every man wants: to have a job, to do it well, to be recognized by others that they did their job well, and to do their job in the service of others. Whether it's in war, or security, or labor, or white collar, people just want to do what they're good at and be recognized for it.
This same type thing happened on the street where I grew up. An older man was off his medication & walked down my street shooting every person he saw. My mom & our 2 pups were outside preparing for a garage sale when he came walking by my house. She grabbed the dogs & laid flat hoping he wouldn’t see them. Thankfully they survived, but many of our neighbors didn’t nor did the shooter. It was a very traumatic situation. It’s terrifying to be minding your business & suddenly facing death due to a person who’s not mentally stable. So thankful the officer & pup made full recoveries.
The media doesn't reveal the level of responsibility most police officers carry on their shoulders. And they rarely report on all the times police do their job to a level of excellence that the average man on the street would not attain. Thank you for your insights.
So WHERE did he get the shotgun??? This is CRUCIAL to stopping this kind of thing. If he bought it illegally, then that person should be going to jail as well.
As a retired Marine, the ASP Trooper on scene highly impressed me (makes me wonder if he was also USMC). ASP, as an organization, has my utmost respect. Kudos to the Hot Springs officers for handling that traumatic incident so well.
What did you think about them walking behind the suspect when they had cover to the right? I can't understand why they did that when they had those trees.
The bodycams are really the absolute best ideas when it come to these incidents. If the cops and the bystanders are honest, there's nothing to fear and they pick up issues that might have to be dealt ith organizationally (safety proceedures that might have to be improved, etc.) In this case, they so clearly show the cops doing everything they said they did.
totally agree with the shop owners statement, there's not a problem with guns as much as it is it's accessibility. Proper training and gun safety is so overlooked now it's crazy
@@CassandraY I used to be like that because it does definitely seem like an easier solution, parents do it to children and their toys when they act bad and it teaches them discipline yet it somehow doesn't cross over when people are adults either which is interesting. 2:03 why are these goofy people sitting there in the cross fire? Then the yellow car decides to take off when the officer starts crossing the street. 😒😒😒😣😣🤬
@@Godschild49 Just because YOU know there’s a lone suspect, just because the bodycam shows YOU where he is, just because YOU can see what direction he is going - does not magically tell the driver of the yellow car what the hell is happening. From their POV in the car, the number of suspects - AND/OR direction of travel - could be completely unknown. So they passed a pedestrian off to their right 100-200 yards down the street - on a sidewalk striped by deep shade from the trees. He may not have been visible at all when they passed. They suddenly see an officer with a canine and another officer with his gun out, about to cross the road, so they stop. At that point, the suspect is behind them off to screen left, in an area of stark sunny/deep shade contrast. How do they know whether these officers are following someone or intercepting them? The driver’s choice is, (1) move ahead towards the officers and potentially get in their way or move into the line of of fire from whoever, wherever; or (2) peel off into the oncoming lane to right of screen, potentially getting in his way if he decides to head down the road rather than cross right over -when for all they know, that could mean moving in the same direction as the suspect, who could be coming FROM that direction and crossing over the street. Or (3) stay still while the officers move, let them move freely around the car if they have to, until you can figure out where the danger is and what direction it is moving.
"Hi, 911? Some people ran past me screaming. Can you please tell me where the danger is? Also, can you recommend a good restaurant in the area? Something mid-priced, but good quality..."

I always have mad respect for seniors that check on the rookie in any profession. That state trooper showed so much compassion for the rookie and his own sarg (or whoever that man was) barely paid him any mind. Didn’t even ask how he was doing and he was clearly freaking out.
The general public has become such a problem for first responders. No survival instincts, 0 awareness, and than they just wanna video tape everything. Than they do the shocked pikachu face when something bad happens
Make note everyone praising the state trooper who said "Stand up here are you hit?" and then looked him over and said "You'd feel it by now" He's not just accustomed. He's seen shit. Real shit. Seen people in real shit.
Wow, I was really impressed with this rookie. When he gave his verbal account of what happened he was so accurate. I was kind of shocked to hear him sound so precise. That was cool.
"Ummm, excuse me dispatcher... where is the gunfire coming from?" _cops shooting literally a block away_ "Umm, dispatcher, could you tell me if I should go that way or not??
I also think the state trooper was giving off the signals such as ‘hey man stop talking, your body cameras on. You did fine just chill’. Great job police officer, thank you for putting yourself at risk to save all of our lives
Yes. He said “You’re good!” enough times to get that to sink in if the cop had had any experience, but unfortunately he was on day one. The trooper understood the basics, that a guy with a shotgun was verbally threatening passersby and had injured the canine handler and the dog. And that this was enough to be good, but there is such a thing as being scrupulously honest to a fault. (People who made a good call in the USA can end up getting sued anyway just because of using a single word carelessly afterwards.) But in fact the rookie officer had very accurate, detailed recall for things that all happened in space of two seconds or so. That was impressive. Made me think he has some sort of service background, whether military or emergency services.
People forget Police officers are human beings. 99.9% are great people with the best of intentions. They go through so much and get so little in return. We ask them to risk their lives every day, and then the media pounces on them any chance they get. So many innocent bystanders could have been hurt or killed, but this officer will always know he took a life, no matter how justified and heroic, he has to live with that. I am so grateful to all officers and their families. I wish them all a very Merry Christmas ❤

Very good description of the situation from the 911 called. Said first of all where they are, then what's going on. Very clearly too
That NPC came outta nowhere.
Rare spawn
The officer saved lives, & the Statie did a great job reaffirming this to the young LEO. So glad Smith & Bear made full recovery.❤
The reaction time of these officers when the bad guy turned around likely saved so many lives

A shame the state trooper had to be the one to finally come over and reassure the rookie cop who just shot a man. His own sergeant sure didn't seem to care much about how he was doing. smfh. . .
Oh wah check your feelings
@@donaldsalkovick396 Shot a bunch of men, have ya??? You sound like you're well versed on the mental repercussions. smh. . .
Sergeant was doing a bosses job at a crime scene…not the best time to care about his feelings.
You're just a cowardly cop hater who knows nothing about policing. The Sargent has to make sure things run correctly. He's very busy making sure everyone is okay and getting the scene locked down. Get lost with your lies and cop hate.
@@nicefish10 He could have put another officer on the matter if he was too busy to do it himself. Leaving the guy basically alone like he was just seems wrong. Again, good on that state trooper for taking the time to ensure his mental state was OK.
The random State Trooper did more to calm him down than his CO, who was in CYA mode the whole time.

Moments like this remind us of the bravery and teamwork it takes to be in law enforcement. From the rookie's quick instincts to the trooper’s genuine care for his team, it’s clear these are the kinds of people who make a real difference. Huge respect for their courage and humanity. 🙏🚔
Interesting side note. When he crossed the street, he crossed on to National Park land elevating the charges.
To federal charges
thx
Thanks. Big piece of info.
The entire town of Hot Springs is a National Park.
I think on account of him brandishing a loaded shotgun, belligerence, firing the shotgun in a crowded space, and attempted murder charges on a police officer, his charges were already covered to set him up for life.
That state trooper is amazing. The way he said to the officer “stand up, look at all these people, you just saved the lives of all these people. You are good” what a fantastic & supporting trooper.
Where was this? That sounds familiar to me
@ Oklahoma
9:49 that trooper needs recognition. THIS is a man
The media doesn't reveal the level of responsibility most police officers carry on their shoulders. And they rarely report on all the times police do their job to a level of excellence that the average man on the street would not attain. Thank you for your insights.
This is why we have body cameras. The officer involved in the shooting was having trouble remembering exactly what happened.

I guess I just felt so much empathy for that cop and those words must have meant a lot
7:46 Just another friendly reminder to not do drugs
The bodycams are really the absolute best ideas when it come to these incidents. If the cops and the bystanders are honest, there's nothing to fear and they pick up issues that might have to be dealt ith organizationally (safety proceedures that might have to be improved, etc.) In this case, they so clearly show the cops doing everything they said they did.

totally agree with the shop owners statement, there's not a problem with guns as much as it is it's accessibility. Proper training and gun safety is so overlooked now it's crazy
So many people hear 'gun control' and immediately equate it to 'take guns away' when all we want is required proper training and sensible laws.
There is a huge problem with guns man.
@@CassandraY I used to be like that because it does definitely seem like an easier solution, parents do it to children and their toys when they act bad and it teaches them discipline yet it somehow doesn't cross over when people are adults either which is interesting. I believe now that proper training is needed more than taking away the right to arms
@@Gyushinoo or is it the people who don't have sane minds being able to access them whenever and with such ease? I used to be against all guns but now I've learned it's the user thats more dangerous than the gun itself, some people don't even need guns to be dangerous but it sure is easier for them
@@crustyhotdog I'm happy to hear that you used to be of that mindset but changed in time. It feels me with me hope for the future. I wish people, in general, were more open to changing their opinion when presented with new information. Too many people want to be right before being correct.
I have nothing against training courses or classes done by current and retired police/military members. I feel like it would be a win/win situation. People get proper training and retired members of these services would remain active and members of their community.
Well he is dressed exactly like a secret service agent so I can understand the confusion.

4:05 4:18 right lady get off the phone he’s not there to give you directions
I am not the biggest fan of LEOs, but I’m not a cop-hater. I respect any LEO who does what’s right and never abuses their power. However, I appreciate anyone who puts their life on the line for others. You did a great job, rook. You deserve to be proud of yourself.
I always have mad respect for seniors that check on the rookie in any profession. That state trooper showed so much compassion for the rookie and his own sarg (or whoever that man was) barely paid him any mind. Didn’t even ask how he was doing and he was clearly freaking out.

(People who made a good call in the USA can end up getting sued anyway just because of using a single word carelessly afterwards.)
But in fact the rookie officer had very accurate, detailed recall for things that all happened in space of two seconds or so. That was impressive. Made me think he has some sort of service background, whether military or emergency services.
That first 911 call sounds like the start of some cheesy 70s porn film.
That rook’s recall of the whole incident was perfect. Under stress but recalled the situation perfectly to everyone. Bravo man.
methica comes up out of nowhere talking crazy.
I was gonna cry at how scared that cop was recounting what happened.
