@Pizza I 2nd your comment. I had my 1st acid reflux episode while sleeping and it was terrifying. If changing my diet is what it takes to not ever experience that again or not often than I'm willing to do it. I plan to binge watch Molly's channel. New subscriber!
Subbed! I've had GERD for 10yrs I'm now finally taking control of my diet once and for all. So hard to deal with friends and family that don't understand what I'm going through. They are constantly guilt tripping me when I don't eat the food they make or mocking my condition. I'm tired of heart burn every day.

This is seriously the most helpful thing! Near tears tonight as my symptoms have been worsening. I was telling my husband I'm having a hard time finding foods that don't give me reflux. All I've found for sure is straight Oatmeal with water but this isn't balanced nutrition. It's difficult as I want to find what foods I can est and also have some type of flavor and still be able to enjoy cooking and eating. This video shows me it is possible to manage symptoms and still enjoy flavorful foods❤

I am so glad i searched for this and i found you! I was diagnosed last yr with gerd and i was put on Omeprazole, it wasnt working so my dr put me on Pantoprozole. 3 weeks ago my acid reflux started up and i went 7 days throwing up every little thing i ate after double dosing and that didnt help. I am gettin together some recipes and im goin to watch your vids and restart my body! Thank you for helping!
After double dosing? My doctor wants me to try taking 1 pantoprazole (40 mg) in the morning and another in the evening to see if it'll help my increased gerd symptoms. I don't want to do that if there is a risk making everything a whole lot worse. 😬
Ground chicken is my go - to during the work week . I’ll cook up like a pound or sometimes two . I’ll serve it over a baked potato w veggies & Parmesan or fresh mozzarella.. sort of like a loaded potato. It’s delicious & fills me up . Love your videos Molly 😊
I’m thinking about using that egg salad recipe for tuna salad. I always put eggs and mayo in mine, so this would be a much healthier alternative. I also like to throw in red onion and sometimes pickles 😋 Also I wanna say thank you for giving us ideas that don’t include cheese! And also also, I read that putting a halved potato in your tomato sauce while it cooks (for about 20-30 minutes) will absorb a lot of the acidity, it worked for me and I didn’t get heartburn from my spaghetti for once!

Im having so much trouble swallowing and I feel the reflux. My main symptom is a lump in my throat to the point that I can’t swallow well. I haven’t gone to the doctor but I know they will just medicate me so I want to try changing my diet first.
@@vionettebarreiro1859 go on a plain non acidic diet for a few months. There’s stomach acid on your throat and when you eat anything acidic it can activate that left over acid on your throat and inflame it. It take a couple months for it to go away. I had it too.
I’m new to gerd because I caught a G.I. infection , now that I’m working with a internal functional practitioner, i’m slowly introducing different foods and I noticed that certain foods give me a headache and ear pressure which is giving me vertigo. I normally suffer from vertical only when I fly, but this is all new to me from eating
I am so thankful to have found you. I had only known how to cook a few things to begin with and then got diagnosed with Gerd a couple years ago. I have been frustrated not knowing what to cook.

Everything looks really good. All I can eat is oatmeal for breakfast and a baked potato, cottage cheese and grilled chicken breast for lunch and dinner amd have been since February....talk about getting tired of eat just that. I don't have insurance so seeing a Gastro. Dr is out of the question at this point. I'm trying to heal my GERD myself.
hey becky! some of the meals i am eating for my gastritis and reflux are pumpkin soup (1 pumpkin , 1 sweet potato, 1 potato boiled in chicken or veg broth then blended) cornflake crumbed snitzels topped with mashed avo with frozen corn peas and carrot on top of mashed potatos miso soup (miso paste dissolved in chicken bone broth) with soba or rice noodles with spinach and grilled salmon on top. you could do chicken or egg if you dont like fish. my advice is to get an instant pot if you can and make soups and your own stock in that so you can omit onion and garlic. its so easy compared to stove top cooking. for snacks I eat corn wafer crackers with a bit of almond butter and honey , and bananas and yoghurt. and drink camomile tea. i hope this helps and that you find inspiration in this, had to comment because i couldn't stand the thought of you eating only that for months!

Especially this time of year, all we fellow acid reflux/GERD sufferers know we feel especially frustrated and left out about the many foods and drinks we can't enjoy at holiday get-togethers which so many others around us innocently think nothing about having to worry about. Argh. I often use melted non-dairy veggie cheese, avocado, or tolerable-for-me canola oil/butter spread as emulsifiers for tuna, chicken, and similar sandwiches in place of mayo, which I can't tolerate because vinegar is such a no-no for me. The dressing option you made looks like a great, additional option for me to try! I just work and elderly-parent caregive crazy constantly, and I need to be better at pre-making and organizing healthier meals. Happy New Year and thanks for these acid-friendly tips!

I’m struggling quite a bit on eating smaller regular meals throughout the day, I am afraid that if I eat too much it will cause my symptoms to get worse. So I was wondering if you could do a in depth video about meal portions and how perhaps someone can help with eating too little/too much? How to not over-eat but also not under-eat. honestly idk what i eat anymore, i just boil something and chomp it down. i wish i could eat such lovely meals as well, but i don't live in the US so such ingredients are wayyyyy too expensive here or just don't exist lmao. thank you for doing these videos though, i'm sure aside from myself you help a lot of people.

I know you have an app but not everyone can download them and some don't have access to Instagram either. Your advice is so good please respond to people. hello:) i just found your channel and wanted to say thank you for your words of wisdom. My partner has been struggling with breathing at night, waking up with nausea, and terrible medical anxieties. A while ago he went to the doctor with breathing troubles and she said he had a hole in his voice box due to acid reflux, medicine was prescribed but didnt have lasting affects. the breathing troubles are back and it is causing a lot of stress, he had a random allergic reaction a while ago and was on some heavy medication for it and has been thinking that that was the cause of his breathing and sleeping problems (but all the tests came back fine with his lungs and everything). We are now starting to realize it is probably acid reflux. He doesnt have a restricted diet but he doesnt seem to have intense flare ups with any specific food, but he does still have symptoms. could it be that he is not very sensitive to a specific food or is it that he hasnt noticed the triggers and symptoms? thank you for your advice:)
Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful to me. I’ve been on an extremely strict anti reflux diet since diagnosed with LPR in April. I’ve also been on ppi’s since 1999 for GERD. My symptoms are still very bad at times, I keep losing weight, I’ve been under the close care of my gastro, just got upper endoscopy. I also have ibs-c. He’s always promoted forks over knives. But the dr that dx me with lpr basically gave me a list of foods to avoid so the idea of reaching out to a dietitian is great. And these are great ideas. Thank you! I definitely need to do more meal prepping for the week because I have a busy stressful schedule during the week. I have been doing hibiscus to my water but yours looks much better! Any other suggestions me are welcome! Thanks 🙏🏼
I also have ibs and i was diagnosed last year after i took my bari test with gerd. Its horrible. I just hope im not the only one who has to regurgitation my food just to get relief even with meds.
Hi am waiting to see ENT but all my symptoms are LPR and I had gerd for yrs and seem to have gone in remission. Now lpr. My hubby has ibs D for 40 yrs now… I recently got the forks over knives book out of the library and wow interesting.
Every one that sees this video if you have bad gerd like I do I recommend getting a inhaler preferably the one I have witch is hfa Flovent 220 mcg I used hate my life couldn’t eat nothing started taking that twice a day now I’m way better like 80 percent less depressed
Chicken/turkey burgers are also very easy to make so if you dont want to buy them frozen, you can make your own in bulk and THEN freeze them while they're raw -- theyll have all the spices and such and already be shaped and ready to go so you'll just need to pop them in the oven or on the grill after theyre thawed, but it's still nice to not have to make them! They'll be good in the freezer probably indefinitely as most frozen things are.
My gf is suffering from hiatial hernia and has ibs and other things as well I also think I might have gerd I found your channel for her so I can help her I hate to see her in pain 😢
I also have Barrett’s and I’m surprised how everytime I find anyone talking about recipes they still add garlic, onion, and tomatoes…it feels impossible to find anything 😩

Hi Molly! I have tried cold brew hibiscus tea and it helps me with digestion. It helps me to be less attacked by reflux especially after a large meal. Is it safe to have 2 glass of it every day?

Hi-I’m on this journey with my 21-yo daughter-lots to learn. So far your videos have caught my interest the most-so, thanks for sharing your journey and what’s worked for you. We are really trying to get the lifestyle part better managed. This morning she ate 2-eggs with wilted down spinach in a toasted high fiber slice of bread…baby steps! But question…I’m not catching what term you’re using when referring to how you prepared your frittata …fobmob veggies? Can you clarify what this is? Thanks
fodmap- a term for groups of foods that can cause symptoms in people with irritable bowel syndrome , but not usually a worry for people with reflux :) hope you feel better soon!!
Molly i hope you are doing well, After suffering from acid reflux last 2 years, Now I am on acid watcher from last 1 and half month and feeling good. Sometimes my food become lttle Boring. Oops, I wanted to add that I've discovered and LOVE those non-meat Impossible Burgers! I also checked their ingredients and they thankfully don't include any spices (at least none I see listed!?...), many of which can kill my GI tract with acid reflux. Just potato starch and an extract from plants that supposedly gives the burgers that umami sense of the consistency, juiciness and "flavor" of beef! They even crisp up and char like real hamburgers. Highly recommend them. :D
Hello, I came across your channel will searching. I too have really bad acid reflux. Iam very neasueated to my stomach, gassy, bloated. When I eat lost some weight from being. Right now I have a flare up which cause a sick feeling to my belly,and gassy.bloating. and a feeling of aump in my throat. Taking a phi. But doesn't help. Iam in your recipes and also would a probiotic help as well. And the benefit of the tea you mentioned.
I have GERD and LPR so have small meals 4 - 5 times a day. I am also diabetic and my blood sugar has recently got very high because of a problem with my medication. My doctor has told me to eat 3 full meals a day which I don't think I can do. I am finding it difficult to find diabetes friendly recipes that don't involve any trigger foods and can't find anything for people with both conditions. Could you do a video on this please?
I was diagnosed with GERD less than a month ago. I am takinf my therapy and I had immediately started changing my diet. I'm wondering if it's normal to still have symptoms even though I'm eating what I'm supposed to? I have been on therapy for about 3 weeks. Will I always have symptoms or will they subside? I really appreciate the great recipes but I have noticed that some of the ingredients like garlic or hummus actually cause reflux for those of us with severe reflux. Can you show some recipes with less spices? Thank you!!
My husband has acid reflux and cannot get through the day without taking omeprazole. He stopped for like 3 days and could only get through drinking a sodium bicarbonate sachet. He can’t eat tomatoes is that something that flares heartburn?
Omeprazole has a history of causing people stomach to become co-dependent . It best to slowly reduce the medication and introduce foods that can be an anchor or coat the stomach. Then slowly introduce food that are acid a week later or so. So yes, tomatoes do cause heartburn especially more cooked in onions and garlic.

Just found your channel and dx with LPR, can you suggest what an and cant eat as most of this I have been told no to…. And said no to garlic onion etc. lLike the recipes but so far not acid reflux friendly or am I confused. Perhaps this is maintenance?

I suffer from duodenitis… Which basically means my duodenum has been destroyed due to too much ibuprofen. My AR pain feels worse than contractions on most days. Truly, excruciating and horrible.
i think the most difficult thing for me is going to be cooking without garlic. if it’s a savory food, i put garlic in it. 😭 i’m only 16 and i barely have time to cook, and my parents don’t want to cook special meals for me without garlic, tomato, etc. idk how to do this
It seems you're experiencing stomach pain, bloating, and acid reflux even though you've cut out spices from your diet. You mentioned previously having H. pylori and completing an antibiotic course, which resolved the H. pylori infection. However, you're still facing digestive issues now, which must be very frustrating for you.
@@MollyPelletierRD I hope that’s true but all the research I’ve done says acidify triggers acid reflux. Mine is mild but I also have a hiatal hernia so if my body doesn’t get along with it I don’t only have regurgitation but I have breathing problems so I have to be really careful and it’s been hard trying to see what I can and can’t have so I just avoided all acidity until my next appointment but I have been extremely hungry

I often use melted non-dairy veggie cheese, avocado, or tolerable-for-me canola oil/butter spread as emulsifiers for tuna, chicken, and similar sandwiches in place of mayo, which I can't tolerate because vinegar is such a no-no for me. The dressing option you made looks like a great, additional option for me to try! I just work and elderly-parent caregive crazy constantly, and I need to be better at pre-making and organizing healthier meals. Happy New Year and thanks for these acid-friendly tips!
Hi! :) I’m a new subscriber who has just been diagnosed with a Hiatus hernia as well as GERD and IBS. I’m struggling quite a bit on eating smaller regular meals throughout the day, I am afraid that if I eat too much it will cause my symptoms to get worse. So I was wondering if you could do a in depth video about meal portions and how perhaps someone can help with eating too little/too much? How to not over-eat but also not under-eat. Because I think some people may struggle with that? It’s just an idea :) love your videos and they’re really helpful so far! :)

hello:) i just found your channel and wanted to say thank you for your words of wisdom. My partner has been struggling with breathing at night, waking up with nausea, and terrible medical anxieties. A while ago he went to the doctor with breathing troubles and she said he had a hole in his voice box due to acid reflux, medicine was prescribed but didnt have lasting affects. the breathing troubles are back and it is causing a lot of stress, he had a random allergic reaction a while ago and was on some heavy medication for it and has been thinking that that was the cause of his breathing and sleeping problems (but all the tests came back fine with his lungs and everything). We are now starting to realize it is probably acid reflux. He doesnt have a restricted diet but he doesnt seem to have intense flare ups with any specific food, but he does still have symptoms. could it be that he is not very sensitive to a specific food or is it that he hasnt noticed the triggers and symptoms? thank you for your advice:)

Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful to me. I’ve been on an extremely strict anti reflux diet since diagnosed with LPR in April. I’ve also been on ppi’s since 1999 for GERD. My symptoms are still very bad at times, I keep losing weight, I’ve been under the close care of my gastro, just got upper endoscopy. I also have ibs-c. He’s always promoted forks over knives. But the dr that dx me with lpr basically gave me a list of foods to avoid so the idea of reaching out to a dietitian is great. And these are great ideas. Thank you! I definitely need to do more meal prepping for the week because I have a busy stressful schedule during the week. I have been doing hibiscus to my water but yours looks much better! Any other suggestions me are welcome! Thanks 🙏🏼

Hi am waiting to see ENT but all my symptoms are LPR and I had gerd for yrs and seem to have gone in remission. Now lpr. My hubby has ibs D for 40 yrs now… I recently got the forks over knives book out of the library and wow interesting.

Chicken/turkey burgers are also very easy to make so if you dont want to buy them frozen, you can make your own in bulk and THEN freeze them while they're raw -- theyll have all the spices and such and already be shaped and ready to go so you'll just need to pop them in the oven or on the grill after theyre thawed, but it's still nice to not have to make them! They'll be good in the freezer probably indefinitely as most frozen things are.
I make up 2-3lbs of turkey burgers. I cook them and freeze them, so easy to pull out as needed, I do the same with chicken tenders...lifesavers!

Hi Molly! I have tried cold brew hibiscus tea and it helps me with digestion. It helps me to be less attacked by reflux especially after a large meal. Is it safe to have 2 glass of it every day?

fodmap- a term for groups of foods that can cause symptoms in people with irritable bowel syndrome , but not usually a worry for people with reflux :) hope you feel better soon!!

Oops, I wanted to add that I've discovered and LOVE those non-meat Impossible Burgers! I also checked their ingredients and they thankfully don't include any spices (at least none I see listed!?...), many of which can kill my GI tract with acid reflux. Just potato starch and an extract from plants that supposedly gives the burgers that umami sense of the consistency, juiciness and "flavor" of beef! They even crisp up and char like real hamburgers. Highly recommend them. :D

I too have really bad acid reflux.
Iam very neasueated to my stomach, gassy, bloated. When I eat lost some weight from being. Right now I have a flare up which cause a sick feeling to my belly,and gassy.bloating. and a feeling of aump in my throat. Taking a phi. But doesn't help. Iam in your recipes and also would a probiotic help as well.
And the benefit of the tea you mentioned.
I have GERD and LPR so have small meals 4 - 5 times a day. I am also diabetic and my blood sugar has recently got very high because of a problem with my medication. My doctor has told me to eat 3 full meals a day which I don't think I can do. I am finding it difficult to find diabetes friendly recipes that don't involve any trigger foods and can't find anything for people with both conditions. Could you do a video on this please?
Doctors are often dumb. I have GERD, LPR and gastritis. 4-6 meals per day is better. Keep doing what helps you most.
I was diagnosed with GERD less than a month ago. I am takinf my therapy and I had immediately started changing my diet. I'm wondering if it's normal to still have symptoms even though I'm eating what I'm supposed to? I have been on therapy for about 3 weeks. Will I always have symptoms or will they subside? My husband has acid reflux and cannot get through the day without taking omeprazole. He stopped for like 3 days and could only get through drinking a sodium bicarbonate sachet. He can’t eat tomatoes is that something that flares heartburn?
tomatos are acidic so yeah that will probably flare it
Omeprazole has a history of causing people stomach to become co-dependent . It best to slowly reduce the medication and introduce foods that can be an anchor or coat the stomach. Then slowly introduce food that are acid a week later or so.
So yes, tomatoes do cause heartburn especially more cooked in onions and garlic.

I suffer from duodenitis… Which basically means my duodenum has been destroyed due to too much ibuprofen. My AR pain feels worse than contractions on most days. Truly, excruciating and horrible.
i think the most difficult thing for me is going to be cooking without garlic. if it’s a savory food, i put garlic in it. 😭 i’m only 16 and i barely have time to cook, and my parents don’t want to cook special meals for me without garlic, tomato, etc. idk how to do this

Acidic things do not always bother some people with reflux. It is individual. Some people with reflux actually benefit from acidic foods
@@MollyPelletierRD I hope that’s true but all the research I’ve done says acidify triggers acid reflux. Mine is mild but I also have a hiatal hernia so if my body doesn’t get along with it I don’t only have regurgitation but I have breathing problems so I have to be really careful and it’s been hard trying to see what I can and can’t have so I just avoided all acidity until my next appointment but I have been extremely hungry
