You sound a bit jealous. Are you angry that you havent gotten your off the ground? Thats kinda what Im hearing. It makes whatever legitimate criticism you may have had, secondary.
Damn you gave a view AND posted a comment. That's appreciation right there. ❤ But seriously, I think you really missed the point on why they compared their past stories to Hazbin Hotel. It's when you overstuff a story with needless details and lore, it harms the story in the long run. It's simply an example of the mistakes all writers and creators make. That includes Vivziepop. (You should also learn to proof read.)
Why are you lying for no purpose other than what appears to be an attempt to try to create insecurity in a stranger? And for the purposes of defending some corporate-funddd waste of potential? I can empathize with feeling connected to this show; I was raised in an extremist sect of Christianity and will always hold a small spot in my heart for this hot garbage because it presents the servants of Yhvh as the evil entities that they would have to be instead of universally and unambiguously good which is the usual depiction. That doesn't justify being such an absolute prick to someone who doesn't have the same connection. I hope that you are, like, a teenager and that as your prefrontal cortex finishes coming online, you'll have some sort of empathy that will stop you from leaving these kinds of comments. If that's the case, take my advice and journal these feelings so you won't have to regret trying to be needlessly cruel to a random stranger in the service of corporate bootlicking.
Also only the male characters get to be “sexy” (making sex jokes or actually shown having sex). The women in hazbin are chaste and sexless. I get having some vanilla relationship rep but it feels weird that the lesbian couple, the MAIN couple, is so weirdly conservative. And you can also be in a long term relationship and still be sexual with each other! If the guys in the show are allowed to be horny the girls should too. I’m not counting Niffy cuz she’s a nothing character.
@@AutumnOddity even if they were insistant on making them sexless, it could've been a nice opportunity for making asexual characters but that would require writing an actual bond between them or any sort of believable affection between characters that isn't sexual, too much work for the HH team i guess
Wait... I just realized that niffty is really a nothing character. She really doesn't have any interesting lore or personality except for being cute and psychopathic
Little rant: Angel Dust has the same problem as Stolas in Helluva Boss, where he's only seen as a "sad tragic precious boy" and all his wrongdoings are ignored because he has such a tragic life. Harassing husk? Well its not actually harassment, it's just cute flirting! Angel can't harass anyone, he's an abuse victim! Talking down to Blitzø? Well Stolas has actually been in love with him since childhood and just wants him to reciprocate! It's not alienation or talking down, it's just cute flirting! Not to mention how much Charlie and Vaggie, the main relationship of the show, get sidelined for Angel and Husk.
actually this is a recurring pattern across a lot of Vivziepop's male characters especially, just to varying extents. Aside from Angel and Stolas who are prominent examples, there are also others I could talk about, like: 1. Alastor, who is a sad baby for being owned by someone, so that means he can enslave Husk and probably thousands of other souls, and also actively enslave Husk while at the hotel, which Charlie doesn't...care about, and be quirky, unlike Valentino. Charlie befriends these horrible people simply because they're nice to her, but that apparently the show doesn't want to address deeply that just because they're nice to Charlie, that doesn't mean they're a-okay to everyone else. if Alastor can stay at the hotel and enslave Husk, why can't we bring Valentino over here? what's the difference? Husk's abuse is momentarily acknowledged as somewhat sad but for most of the time it's supposed to be quirky and "look at Alastor he's powerful oh my god that's cool", nothing like how Angel's abuse is acknowledged and portrayed. 2. Fizzarolli, whom we've seen been set up as an antagonist towards Blitzo, and he gets to be an antagonist in Ozzie's...but other than that, the next time he makes an appearance, it's the episode where he rekindles his relationship with Blitzo. he doesn't really get to be an antagonist in the show. and after s2e6, there's s2e7 where it's revealed Mammon abuses him on a regular basis. but while it is a good thing to represent and showcase this abuse, throughout the episode, Fizzarolli, who we know to be in this entertainment industry for a long time, is unable to defend himself even once against competition and hate like even Angel is able to. he has also been conveniently turned into a sad baby simply because of his abuse. also not really addressing any of the harm he has caused Asmodeus, like choosing Mammon over him in many ways. which kind of gets into why I can't really feel Fizzmodeus as a romantic relationship more than a parent-child, mentor-disciple relationship. you could also point to other characters like Lucifer or Moxxie, to smaller and less remarkable extents, though the pattern can be seen.
Charlie also falls into this category, despite being female herself. she's constantly put on a pedestal, praised and venerated by everyone around her for little to no good reason. I guess it's her innocence and charm that is the main appeal of her character, but how it functions practically and plays into her motivations and goals is ineffective and even illogical. I think this is because the writers misunderstand her type of character even altogether. because she is innocent, in a place like hell, we have to protect that innocence and coddle her for the obvious mistakes she makes. I'm fine with her making mistakes especially if she has a CHARACTER ARC, what I'm not fine with is how they are barely addressed, brushed over, ignored or even glorified. she does make mistakes in this show and gets herself into trouble, but they're not portrayed as something her, a grown woman can at the very least learn from and correct, but complete injustices to make her look like a misunderstood "sad baby". if anything, Charlie misunderstands everyone around her and her surroundings, more than they misunderstand her. before Hazbin came out, Charlie was one of the characters I was most interested in, especially in what was supposed to be a mature, adult show. unlike everyone else who's depressed and has to work through their dark pasts and problems, Charlie's problems lie in her toxic positivity and how she is going to tackle that will be different from everyone else's problems. her toxic positivity makes her unique and compelling. unfortunately almost nothing in the show addresses it as a problem TO BE SOLVED, especially for her supposedly being the main character and therapist of the hotel, rather more than a quirky quirk she has. the writers wasted all the potential there with that arc. honestly, Hazbin being a slice-of-life show where each episode focused on a specific sin or misdeed with a redeemed sinner-of-the-week formula works in building up the main characters, but also for Charlie to learn what it takes to be a caring and responsible therapist, to connect with her guests, step-by-step. but it didn't happen this way primarily because of the showrunners' limited time and even attachment to an ambitious flashy plot, at the expense of good characterization and writing.
I get where your coming from but I feel like that angel is using a coping mechanism to forget he’s in a terrible situation while stolas is acting like the perfectly competent people blitz sent because he had to do something with his daughter and acting like HE didn’t make the once a month deal himself. While angel shouldn’t have done that, stolas has been acting like blitz is wrong when they’ve BOTH been wrong and he’s been vivictimizing himself. I feel like these are the same Demario but V A S T L Y different (seriously stolas is a bum)
Eh no both are clearly flawed people and the show points that out too. It is harassment it never says that is ok. It doesn't say he can't harass anyone I mean Husk does call him out really. It doesn't say that Stolas doesn't talk down to him or that it's just cute flirting, you are making up something the show never actually said to get mad about....which frankly I see a lot of critics and haters of the show do. They don't though, Charlie and Vaggie get attention in multiple episodes and they actually have romantic moments unlike Angel and Husk.
@DragonKingMadaraUchiha ..okay but as someone who's actually focused on higher level writing, Cassidy is right in a lot of these things, the fact that they kneecap an obvious arc where angel gets ignored and goes back to his abuser, making conflict naturally flow, the fact this story stated more then shows, it's insistence on focusing on random side charcaters meanwhile it's barely got it's plot together, the fact Charlie trusts some random woman with not tempting the rehab people into sinning, the fact Adam is A flat, barely comprehendible villain and why is he in heaven if he invented sin. And more, you just hate the concept of someone having differing opinions then you on the shows objective quality so maybe just, merry off and grow up? Lmao
I know😅 like he was built up to be so powerful and dangerous and during his fight with Adam he got folded so quickly. People speculate it's because he doesn't have access to his full power yet, but if that's the case then why go through the trouble of painting him as being a problem? He literally was on screen to appease fans and to fill in a sexy grin quota
things he does are not many but they are significant and he chooses what to do so he can cuddle up to the future queen of Hell which him and Rosie see as the proper team to be on and he wants to guide(manipulate) Charlie in "the right direction (for his purposes) he likely will find a way to free Anthony because he wants the future queen's favor and how better to get that then to free someone she wants to have salvation eh??
What really pisses me off is how Charlie is treated like this weak little baby, despite being the princess of the hell, 200 years old, able to command ppl with her voice (seen with alastor in the pilot) AND being on the same power level as her parents. Like Jesus Christ, even in the final battle, while everyone’s fighting for their lives & the hotel, she goes out of her way to try not kill anyone & go “oops teehee sowwy uwu” and it’s terribly annoying. She doesn’t even get time to fight for herself, she just gets thrashed around….. despite being levels above Adam power wise…. What she lands like- two hits? It’s just sad how she won’t even take action, even when her friends’ lives are on the line. She’s a grown ass adult & she acts like she’s 10.. it leaves a weird WEIRD taste in my mouth. Like she’s atrociously naive for her age. I’d like Charlie more if she was still kind hearted, but took action & was more mature/responsible like she’s supposed to be, instead of being a “dorky uwu cinnamon roll who does no wrong”. I also want sinners to stop acting like they’re above Charlie when she could rip them to shreds, same with Valentino. Why is HE threatening Charlie instead of Angel’s life, it’d make much more sense. Not to mention if he DID hurt Charlie, he’d have to answer to LUCIFER. The show needs to stop mischaracterizing & belittling her, making her too kind & not willing to take action unless someone DIES is genuinely weird, annoying & horrible writing.
I've seen Charlie acting as the bigger & powerful person she is in fanfics way more than in the show. One example is this fanfic where she had romantic relationships with Blitzo but had to break up because of Lucifer. Then when he visits the hotel and all stuff goes through, Alastor intervened and mocked Charlie regarding her past relationship with Blitzo. This is where Charlie had enough of Al's BS as she unleashed her true demonic power against the radio sinner. It was very frightening that caused Alastor to lose his smile as he shivered in fear. Charlie then threatens him that if Alastor hurts Blitzo in any way, she would punish him dearly with horrifying methods
I thought she is like yearly 20th, 30th max recently released from parents castle, not allowed to use her full power princess. But she is 200 years old, didn't contact her parents in years and she still doesn't know how and when to show her teeth and when keep acting nice? Threre already so many characters that need screen time for development, that is perfect case to have "OP battle power character in situation where punching is useless". Her being strong doesn't intervene with main plot of a show "helping sinner ascending to heaven" since its not her power
she realistically should've deleted Valentino the moment he laid a hand on her, and yet she does literally nothing against someone who's effectively a nobody to her. Like, how can you even say that you offer a safe place for sinners to try their hand at redemption, when you refuse to even defend yourself when you absolutely should?
Among the many issues I have with this show, I really miss Pilot Alastor. I can't really get over the way they changed his demeanor and watered down his jovial old-timey personality. And for some reason the hardcore fans keep insisting that Alastor "hardly ever swears" in season 1, yet he honestly swears a lot for someone who fans didn't expect to swear at all. He swears several times in his 20 minutes of screentime and throws around other cuss words too, whereas in the pilot he does none of that and that's one of the reasons fans found him unique and likeable. Before the show he was strongly set up to be an old-fashioned gentlemanly character even though he was evil and did dodgy things to those he didn't like, and that was interesting. Now he's like, a petty edge lord?? It's downright cringy sometimes. In the prequel comic he gets angry and swears under his breath to himself- if they really wanted him to swear they could have just gone in that direction. Or maybe saved his first swear for much later for a bigger impact. Both options I think would have been better directions for him.
@@moonzie37Yeah, she said she finds it hilarious. There's even a YT video of the cast playing this game counting how many times they swore or something. And some of the highest rated posts I've seen on the Hazbin Reddit were people counting how much each character swore! It's just odd lol.
True edgy feels like more of a fad to me. You get controversy from new topics, and you can be edgy by talking nonchalantly about controversy or in a controversial way. As time goes on, controversy stops being new and controversial, and your 'edginess' will either become tame or genuinely offensive. Mild and inoffensive edginess is just better for longevity.
About the racism. Alastor and Velvet are both meant to be black. Nifty is meant to be Japanese. First off, Velvet went through a redesign to make her look more black because before it was just basically a "you gotta believe me, I swear this generic goth lolita is black!!" And Alastor's magic had basis in voodoo symbols that uh... basically Viv realized that making him a quirky 1930s white deer guy PROBABLY would not be great that he was swiping from voodoo. And Nifty. She also was redesigned. Her original design had yellow skin. And I'm not gonna unpack her being a tiny unhinged housewife-maid. The reason I mention this is because Viv does zero research. She just slaps designs together and _then_ assigns ideas to them. Nifty, Velvet, and Alastor were all conceptualized as quirky demons who were frankly... white. They might have been demons but "raceless" in Viv's mind is white. And the issue isn't that Viv designs white characters (or at the minimum, white passing). It's that she can't _stand_ the criticism that she lacks diversity so she slaps random races on her characters and it comes off even worse.
@@cassidyangelpuppyI'm not super sure about this criticism, like I can kinda see what you mean by "white passing" but no one in hell or heaven has real people skin colors, like the characters are often pure white, some wacky color like purple or even grey, and so on, no one really has real world black skin or whatever. Also I find it kinda disingenuous to say no one in heaven is dark skinned when the seraphims have dark greyish skin kinda like Vaggie, and I also find the argument they whitewashed her rather weak cause her skin in the flashback didn't look that much lighter, and looks more like lighting making her look more magenta than usual. I get criticizing Viv for just kinda slapping racial identities on characters through Twitter without really making the heritage meaningful in the show proper, like Nifty supposedly being Japanese or Alastor mixed race without showing real signs of it at all, but arguing she's maliciously and intentionally racist over decisions that are dubious she even actually made like "white washed" Vaggie is bordering a bit on unsubstantiated slander rather than looking at her work. Also, for the video in general liked a lot of points you brought up about the narrative problems and such but I feel there's other times where you straight up don't recall shit correctly, like when you said the show added the extermination plot point when it was a the pilot too, or that Carmilla wanted to protect the spider dude when she was protecting her daughters, (which I get not remembering cause they are glorified extras but still) and a lot of times this video feels disjointed and doesn't provide all the necessary information to really understand the context of what you're talking about in favor of being snarky at the show, to the point that I feel people who aren't already somewhat familiar with the show proper will not be able to follow your video that well, especially when you straight up get things wrong. Also I don't think you really made a case for why the songs having a "conversation" structure is bad when it's a staple of musicals, and why mixing different genres would be a bad thing, that was one of the weakest points in this video on account of the fact you didn't really bother explaining WHY these things were problems, instead opting for merely stating it's jarring without going into how. Also there's memes when you downright nitpick shit that isn't there, like Emily gleaning information she couldn't about how they exterminate sinners once a year from Adam's slip despite her only saying "wait you're telling me you kill sinners?" Without specifying dates, like we can hear the real lyrics for ourselves and see that you wrote the part of her talking about the "once a year" part, she doesn't mention anything about the extermination beyond the murder, which is information she was totally given by Adam. Like I don't care I you hate the show and wanna talk negative but you don't need to invent flaws that aren't there to prove your point, in fact it detracts from it, this video could use a few second drafts much like Hazbin Hotel.
I do agree that the racial coding is pretty sloppy and practically nonexistent without supplementary material like Tweets abd such, like there's 0 indication Nifty is Asian let alone Japanese, and besides Angel, Cherry Bomb, and Vaggie none of the characters really show noticeable signs of their heritage whatsoever and even then it's all pretty superficial.
also Vaggie has such lazy representation it's so superficial and bad. She just awkwardly curses in Spanish sometimes? She might as well be saying 'Ay' Carumba'. That's like an early aught stereotype of Hispanic character in media. Nothing about her reads Hispanic. I'm Hispanic btw.
1:23:30 In the Angel Dust prequel comic, while Charlie is explaining the hotel to him, she says that they just need to prove one sinner can be redeemed. So that heaven will take her seriously. But they forgot to put that in the show??
did u watch the show? or specific episode 6 ? where they end up in heaven and they need to prove someone can be redeemed? its not unused, they just changed the outcome a bit. viv said that everything before episode 1 got soft redconned. meaning that it still happend, but details might have changed. and taking in the naivety of charlie into account could mean that she simply beliefes that they need only one soul redeemed.
@zergling-si4vf Yeah cuz thats all the way in episode 6, why the hell couldn't she just said that earlier, why did we have to figure that out half way into the show
(around 31 min in) something i came up with for the trust fall drop joke off the top of my head is like niffty says her thing, husk says something like "damn that girls crazy" or similar, possibly not even in a mean way, like he could be laughing and saying it in an appreciative way, charlie turns around to be like heyyy we dont use words like that here and while her back is turned niffty takes her tumble, charlie freezes and after a second starts with the "i am soooo-" only to be cut off by niffty laughing and doing her repeatedly jumping off the stage bit there! preserves charlies character as well as adding a dimension about her inexperience in this area and parodying people who care more about using The Nice Words than actually helping and supporting the people theyre trying to defend, plus a little side characterisation building up husk as someone who calls it how he sees it and doesnt shy away from saying things that could be hurtful
something i noticed about the show is something that will never stop bothering me. it's the fact that we know nothing about a majority of the main cast, who are they? who were they when they were alive? how did they die? why are they in hell? none of these questions are answered, we're already done with the first season and we know absolutely nothing about them.
@briangriffinfan_numbah1 exactly! the characters should have been established first before the beef with heaven. how is a bad person supposed to be redeemed if the audience doesn't know what's being redeemed?
With the amount of dislikes, I was expecting this to be a bad faith criticism of the show, but you were quite fair and levelheaded throughout. It really goes to show how strong the rabid part of the fanbase is. This is one of the few videos that ever talks about how oddly "sanitized" they present hypersexuality, and the lack of knowledge in regards to the rehabilitation process. Perhaps there IS a reason as to why they decided to push their supposed main premise aside.
The dislikes are from people who feel ANYTHING Vivian does is above criticism. But that's the age we live in now where no one can be given anything but constant praise because 'we can't hurt someone's feelings'.
50:54 I find this a little alarming. Because why is he ONLY made for NSFW?? Isn't he a victim?? Granted she just keeps changing her characters stories 24/7, but I just find that icky. And seeing how fetish-y her show is-
@@DragonKingMadaraUchiha thanks for missing the point, dude. episode 4 was co-written and storyboarded by raphielle ii, someone who openly ships val x angel and glamorizes the abuse, to the point his fancomic's dialogue was adapted nearly word for word in the episode. when confronted about this, vivziepop threw a 3 day tantrum on her socials. raphielle also s3xu4lly harassed a minor on twitter
also, they weirdly sexualize the child character Nifty. I haven't heard anyone talk about this strangely enough. They have her in fucking BDSM outfit and she regularly belts out innuendos. There's definitely sus shit in this show. I don't know if weird anime shit is going on like she's actually 1,000,000,000 years old or whatever so it's ✨ fine ✨. @@ThePortjumperOMG RIGHT??? I've known of Hazbin hotel since the pilot came out, and i always thought of Niffty as a little kid that's just a little messed up in the head and stuff, and now 4 damn years later, apparently she's CANONICALLY 22 years old??? For me that was the biggest plot twist in the show tbh
I like that this review fully incapsulates what many have been breaking down for months, heck probably years. The show's core audience comes from stans that tune into livestreams, wikis, tweets, and fan speculation for information without taking into account that newer audiences will know nothing about and if they want to, will have to dig through the internet to find out what's true, what's fanbased, and what's old information that's no longer irrelevant. As for the core premise of the show, it suffers the same fate that Helluva Boss does, to where the actual synopsis doesn't play out in the writing. Edit: Brave, are you, for tackling the show's faults
Hazbin Hotel is the perfect bait show. It constantly hints at interesting things but refuses to tell its audience stuff so that they’ll be forced to watch the show till the end just to see what will happen and if their theories are correct or not. It’s an artificial engagement
It’s nice to see a reviewer talk about the racism and fetishism in the show. I notice most critical reviewers either try to downplay the more problematic elements (looking at you Just Stop and Vanitymoth) or just disregard them all together
Is it weird that the pilot is my favorite episode of Hazbin...without even being an actual episode? Lol. I'll still watch season 2 but damn. It was pretty bad and rushed. Lots of plot holes and contradicting premises. Great video.
I have a question. What is Angel Dusts sin that landed him in Hell? He's a mobster. So he probably committed murder, extortion, profited from people's suffering (for example selling drugs to people who are going through a bad time in their lives) etc. And what if he felt guilty about doing these things to people, but insted of try to do something that would redeem himself (for example he tried to stop his family or help the people he wronged), he insisted fell into sex and drugs to ignore the guilt.
@@templebeast1324 the only answer I could think of is Wrath, based on Sir Pentious’s iconic line “FACE MY WRATH!!!!” , but he is clearly not an abusive person, so yep. Definitely not wrath
Angel dust dies due to a drug overdose, called "angel dust", so thats how he got his name. Probably because drugs are a very horrible decision to do, that may be the reason why he landed in hell.
I really disliked Velvette when she showed up, and i dont think enough people acknowledge how bullshit her claims of being "the backbone of the V's" is, coming from her. •She likes *1* fashon aesthetic that we only see *her* take interest in in any given scene. So her being an overlord for fashion makes no sense because she straight up doesn't like other styles •Her being a social media manager is just and extension of what Vox actually could just pay a different person to do anyway, unless her powers involve that potion we saw on that billboard in which, still not very powerful, its just her making drugs She really does nothing to earn this bravado. I would usually be fine with this if that was the joke. She has such a high opinion of herself, but no one takes her seriously and shes just a childish person, but no, the only person to acknowledges her being childish is Camilla, and its not a joke, she just brings it up out of nowhere and no one says *anything* about it, barely even acknowledges it. It's just stupid
.....except all of them do think that she's full of it, it's just that it wasn't their song. (Plus, did you forget that the guy was also disagreeing with her?)
@keelanbarron928 no I mean in the pathetic way. Also, they aren't really saying or doing much in that scene. It's just her and Camilla arguing and everyone else watching. People disagreeing with her doesn't mean hey don't take her seriously. That's what I mean when I say that. If she was brushed off with a "sure honey, no make sure no one's being mean online again," or something, I'd care more about the way she's talking about herself, but again, the only one who's acknowledging her as a childish person is Camilla. And they're fighting, so clearly Camilla is still taking her seriously and treating her as an adult, which makes her comments of her being the "#bitch" and "the backbone of the Vs" go uncontested. If Camilla said in their song that Velvette is a egocentric child and that the she's not that important to the Vs, or even just point out that the other Vs thought there were better things to do than attend the meeting. But still sent her to this "unimportant meeting" then I'd be fine with her saying that stuff about herself. It'd come across as her mental gymnastics working to ignore the truth: that she's fucking useless to the Vs and they just keep her around because they see her as their spoiled brat or something.
Also 2 other things that should be noted: 1: bri’ish 2: why the hell was she bitching to the other overlords that they should attack heaven and then do absolutely nothing when the angels decide to attack, is she stupid?
Her claim isn't bullshit though. 1. No she likes multiple fashion aesthetic in fact every time we see her it's like she always has a new fashion design so she does clearly like other styles. 2. Not really her role is very different and important, nah her making drugs and how she would use them is pretty powerful when you think about it. No she does a lot to earn this bravado. The other Vees take her seriously and so do others, so if Carmilla is the only one to acknowledge her as being childish then doesn't that contradict you saying that no one takes her seriously? It isn't out of nowhere though and they do clearly acknowledge it. It really isn't stupid.
@@sir-ani8927 But it really wasn't pathetic. Yeah and that arguing matters to the plot. I dunno...Carmilla takes her attitude and what she is saying seriously. But she really isn't useless she has her purpose in the group.
Yeah I have no idea why they didn't have Vaggie tell Charlie she was an exorcist to beat Adam to the punch. Or have Charlie already know since she did find her soon after extermination ended and she had to have walked past her blood (and you know see the blood oozing out of her eye and/or back. It could be a funny joke having Charlie be like "Uh yeah, I know". And yeah it makes no sense why Vaggie had no idea that angelic weapons could hurt angels.
@@sakuraice22 when it’s based off an actual story and has a source material. Hazbin is fanfic based off a Daydream we don’t know about- a fanfic of a fanfic but the og was deleted. It’s like an original work on Archive of our own but it’s only the 4th part of the series and they deleted everything else.
I had hope with the pilot years ago. That alone had good set up with the main cast, and the hotel itself. Seeing the information and characters switch around annoyed me. This might be long so I apologize ahead of time. A lot of hardcore fans like to use the "Ugh, she only had 8 episodes! Reeee!" While true, that is enough in my opinion to set up what the core premise, which is the Hotel and redemption, and hold off on fully introducing characters you aren't gonna use until a whole new season. Instead, we get like... 3 stories that could've been used in later arcs, like the war between them and Heaven. Season 1 could've had someone question Charlie on her motivations as to *WHY* she wants to help the Sinners since she is hellborn, and even argues with Lucifer about their ideals without immediate making-up. Or even when someone finds out that she actually has no clue on how to get any Sinner to Heaven and confronts her could've been a better season 1, imo. And the angels.... its so odd that they don't know how souls get to Heaven. At least the angels on Supernatural were far more competent.
@@AbimaelLopez-hz3qq She still could've made something not rushed and overly packed with 8 episodes though, as I have stated. I get she has a large cast, but for anyone with sense, sacrifices have to be made if a creator is truly wanting to make something for the audience to be hooked on. She surrounds herself with yes-men that don't point out "Hey, maybe this can be for later." and stroke her ego. This show was guaranteed a season 2 no matter how well or bad it is. We're getting a season 2 to Velma for goodness sake so she could've planned something that would have been better received rather than the jumbled mess we got.
I feel like there could’ve been a simple solution to this; have the plot be driven by the characters, rather than the characters driven by the plot. Having the plot be purely influenced by the main casts actions would’ve given the opportunity to explore the main cast while still driving the story in a way in which it could fit within 8 episodes. Perhaps instead of the slayed angel thing happening offscreen, we could’ve instead show the hotel working slowly, everyone gets desperate as the extermination arrives(not sooner than usual since the absence of the dead angel) and someone in the main cast kills an angel during a meeting or something in desperation, thus driving the plot forward with heaven vowing to attack and yada yada the finale plays out like usual. Something like that could’ve also helped the pacing, because the whole season just feels like everyone slowly screwing around going “oh impending dooooooom” until it finally happens. Building the tension until someone finally snaps and having the climax be a result of that action would have made the plot feel much more natural
I want to like Hazbin so bad but I just end up getting angry that Viv essentially tossed her incredible characters off to the side and purposefully changed them and the entire story she originally had from bending at the knee to a corporation to host her show. She could have kept shopping around for someone else who would give her more time to give her characters the story they deserved. Not to mention there's a rumor floating around that she was originally allotted 10-12 episodes, but the Broadway actors she just had to have alkegedly chewed up most of the budget. Which twists the knife even more.
I heard that she was even allowed three seasons but since she was difficult to work with and budget problems she only got two. Don't know if that's true or not but I'm hoping it is
It's probably not true since usually when making shows they only greenlit a season at a time, but they probably have plans for the next season if it comes
She didn`t toss them or changed them though, and eh....no the story didn`t exactly change or at least not completelty. How could she have done that? I doubt that is true or is what happened, that just doesn`t make sense.
It’s not that easy, a lot of companies probably wouldn’t have picked up her show. It’s VERY rare a show gets greenlit or even considered, so this was probably her best bet
You verbalize far better how I feel about the Angel Dust episode. And I'm happy to see I'm not the only one that found it poorly done and just fetish bait. Edit: Toward the end when you talk about Charlie being naive. While I don't mind if she behaves like a Disney Princess I wish shows would actually show royal duties and responsibilities. Being a royal with power is not a cake walk and there's a ton of learning that goes into it. She can be naive to the common peoples struggles but I hate how politically naive she is. Hell (no pun intended) she would have been the best character to talk about demon contracts and how they work and can be signed. Because presumably she has the political backing to enforce the rules of contracts and can therefore change how they are made. She could have invalided Angel's contract with Valentino if she just made some new laws surrounding it.
Oh my god I wish the show took that into account. Would’ve been nice to show Charlie being good at something and having a skillset that affects the plot. I like the show, but I do think that’s a huge missed opportunity with Charlie’s character.
She feels more the rags to riches type of Disney princess, absolutely zero qualifications other than being "kind" and chancing into it. She's literally the daughter of the King, she should know_something_ unless she's been locked in her room for the 200 years she's been alive.
@@Cardinal_claw Yeah, if she was locked away like that, at this point I'd feel its an absolute cop out especially because it would most likely be her mom. A politically smart Charlie would be so interesting.
I love the point you made about the show feeling sexless despite being overloaded with sex jokes. The sex feels like it's treated as nothing but either A: a joke, or B: edge, which is exactly how teenagers write. There's no honest or raw eroticism to be had, which it doesn't have to, but the way the writing is just makes the sexual aspects feel as cheap and juvenile as the swearing. Media doesn't have to contain sex or swearing, but when they're both tools to be used and in HH Vivzie just shows neither her writing chops nor her sense of humor have changed since highschool. And to get a little more personal, as a sex-haver myself (lol), it almost feels quaint. It feels like a virgin's idea of sex, it's simultaneously trying to be edgy but is also safe and tame at the same time so it just comes off as... lol virgincore as you said. And there's nothing wrong that necessarily but if you're going to utilize sex so much then at least make it a little more authentic.
@@AbimaelLopez-hz3qq I get why he makes those jokes but up until ep 4 it's like, LITERALLY the only things he says which gets old very quick and comes at the cost of more character depth. He's not the only one who makes them either, it's everywhere all the time, which also reduces the impact of Angel Dust making them due to trying to mask his trauma.
@@AZ-ty7ub It isn`t the only thing he says though and character depth is still there. It isn`t everywhere and he says them some of the most so the impact isn`t really reduced.
Eh it feels like there is sex clearly. No it`s treated as a real tangible thing too. There is some raw eroticism, and no the sexual aspects don`t feel as cheap or juvenile or at least not all of it. They have both evolved though, it`s more then just merely sex and swearing it`s other stuff too and how it`s all used. I disagree it's far from quaint. No it feels like genuine sex. Nah it's not safe or tame really or is that edgy with it either just more...real really. It doesn't really come off as Virgincore which isn't even really a thing. But it is very authentic as is.
@@Jdudec367 We all have our opinions but again I gotta disagree. As someone who's been out of school many years the sexual aspect felt like nothing more than a middle schooler making a 👉👌 joke. If there was any eroticism it came from Vivziepop enjoying the dance number with Angel Dust a little too much if you know what I mean. That just made me uncomfortable because I felt like I was being shown Viv's own explicit fantasies she's had of this character she's had for a decade. Which I mean, I guess is erotic?
The show has bad writing, bad pacing, horrible fanbase full of children who shouldn't even be watching the show and worse glorifying abuse and letting SA and R fetish work on the R victim is sick. Everything about the show is trash.
the issue is that not really, it had SOME potential you can kind of see the small sparks of good ideas here and there and the songs are fantastic but all that just makes the show even worse, knowing that it could be good but still ended up insanely bad
I think it had huge potential if it was done right. I only casually followed the progress of the show, but when it was first set to release I got really hyped thinking about all the cool things they could do with the story and characters. Then when it actually released and it was 8 rushed episodes that skipped over character arcs in favour of the heaven plot I got immensely disappointed. I've seen fan rewrites of season 1 that are far, far better than what we got from "professional" writers.
@Laura-iu8sp oh absolutely, same here. I watched the pilot when I was significantly younger and liked it well enough, I thought all the flaws would be evened out by the time a show releases for real like most pilots But no, it's just bad, and on top of being trash it's frustrating because of what could've been
This whole comment section is just people being angry that someone doesn't like a show they like. You knew what the video would be about based on the title unless you didn't read it. If you dislike hearing something you enjoy have anything negative said about so much, why did you choose to click on this?
That's not how quality works. "Rubbish" is a quality assessment, and "here's why" implies that reason and evidence (arguments) will be used to prove that the claim "this show is rubbish" is a true statement, ergo the video was about how the show is objectively bad. The only reason anyone would frame a video that is using objective language in its title and contents as somehow being a matter of opinion is if their goal is to deflect criticism of an obviously bad take. This video is not an opinion piece, regardless of what you, the creator, or anyone else says about it, misuse of subjective language be damned.
@@boyishdude1234 "This video is not an opinion piece, regardless of what you, the creator, or anyone else says about it, misuse of subjective language be damned." Are you saying you know the creator's intent with the video better than she does herself?
@@Flower_Mom No. I'm saying that the video is objective in nature, which doesn't change with the creator's intent because the video is about proving that his quality assessment of the show is true, which can't be subjective. Attaching the word "opinion" next to his claims doesn't change that. Language doesn't work that way.
The way hazbin and helluva use cursing and sex jokes feels like when you need to add more adjectives to an essay to fill in space so you reach the word limit if that makes sense (just my opinion)
I think Helluva Boss has so much other humor, when I actually watched it I realized that I judget it completely wrong. Hazbin doesn't have that much of different humor tho...
Pretty good video. Wish you talked about Lucifer more and how he kinda killed all the stakes in episode 8 as well as ruined Charlie's moment. I think he's a good character, but he shouldn't have been in the finale. Maybe he could have shown up after the battle to cheer up Charlie in the final song if Heaven made a deal or put a curse on Lucifer so he couldn't interfere in the exterminations.
Lucifer's deal was to not interfere conditional on all hellborn being spared. Adam attempting to kill Charlie specifically violates that deal and is the reason he showed up when he did
@mxp9000 All the show tells us is that he made a deal with Heaven allowing the exterminations in order to spare demonkind according to Lute in episode 1. To what extent Lucifer is directly affected by the extermination deal with Heaven was never specified. This could have been solved in episode 7. Before going to Cannibal Town Charlie could ask her dad either over the phone or in person to help defend the hotel and then he tells her about how he can't get involved because of what you said or something else, but instead Lucifer's deal with Heaven is never brought up after Lute's line in ep 1, I think.
@@cooplagoop328 It sorta shows it too. It is shown that he isn`t really affected by the extermination itself though. It is shown that he only shows up when his daughter is hurt implying that the deal was then broken.
Viv depiction of hell and heaven is like what a kid think is edgy and what a kid think is a good adult life. Like people have money in heaven, Which mean you need to have a job, Which mean that have economy....This is basic just earth with people not been jerks and put pastel color....Wtf?????. And hell is basic heaven for jerk people, You can have your drugs, Drinks and you can also been a overlord. This is stupid-_-.
Not really that isn`t what it is at all. Nah where is the money or the economy? We don`t know too much about that stuff yet so you aren`t really right, also it's well....a more ideal society it isn`t really Earth. Nah Hell is the opposite of Heaven really and is horrible for most people and is well...hell. This isn`t stupid.
This comment section is…a bit sad with how angry some people are. Your commentary is nice to listen to, especially as someone who feels bad to hate Hazbin lol. But emotions and opinions are valid :)
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3odIt depends, I guess? I'm fine with hours long of video if they actually worth watching. I'm struggling to say if the time length is acceptable or not because I'm still at ep2 as of now
You’re breakdown on how Angel Dust’s character development is not actually built upon and just jumps around is such a good point that I haven’t seen anyone point out yet. Also the Anthony reveal being spoil for hard core fans, who are probably the only ones watching this far, is really good. Subbing for the next parts!
My thing is the fact that vivzie clearly has no clue what she wants for the characters. Charlie is a princess of hell and yet she hardly has any pull politically or socially. Angel dust was supposedly a mob boss in his previous life but the way hes written suggest hes more of a victim of the mob than an active player. Alastor is all powerful or whatever but he does NOTHIBG through thr series to prove it. Its ok to subvert character expectations, but the subversion at least should make sense. Like, maybe instead of charlie being a princess, she could be working class so her dreams of a hotel have a bit more stake to it since itll essentially be her income. Maybe angel dust and alastor can actually do something threatening or morally wrong at least to add more of a bite to their characters.
Honestly I loved you showing your own writing backstory cause you get the struggles. I always struggle to write short stories since I try to force a long series with side tangents into one book. That never ends well cause it just has breakneck pacing and is a convoluted mess. Learning to kill your darlings even favorite characters is a must for a more cohesive story. Hazbin hotel is unfortunate example of this. The concepts are cool but the execution ruins it.
Excellently put. Short stories are great practice so keep at it!! I'm really glad you loved that, I felt embarassed including it, I felt a little pretentious to be honest! Comments like yours make me confident :)
I find it funny that Gabriel from Ultrakill essentially does Adams whole deal way better than him. He does the whole “I’m an angel but really I’m a massive manbaby” thing way better. He starts off being all high and mighty towards V2 until he’s beaten then he does the funny line and leaves but it feels so much better due to the fact that we see his facade breaking in that moment. Adam never had a facade or any self righteousness to go off of even though the plot really wants you to think he did? There’s no facade for the angels they know the Exterminations are happening and they don’t care? There’s nothing to break cause we know they’re all bad already from Adams first horribly written lines. We don’t think Charlie has a chance cause Adam proves the system is broken from the start and all Sinners will just be purged anyways so why try?
He doesn`t though. Not really. He doesn't need a facade though. They didn't know about the extermiantion did you even pay attention? Except no they aren't as we see in episode 6 most are good and Adam's first wrriten lines aren't horrribly written. No we think she has a chance as even if the system is broken it doesn't mean it's impossible to make change.
@@DragonKingMadaraUchiha you are commenting under every single comment and when someone says something back you say they're having a tantrum... please understand that what your doing is LITERALLY having a tantrum LMAOOO

The reason why no one is on your side is because you're just saying, "These reviews are lazy, bad, garbage, etc." You aren't actually giving reasons why you believe that. If you just did that, then maybe some people wouldn't go after you.
It definetely is -- especially Angel Dust. I think its because if you count how long the shows been in the creators head and twitter and youtube animatics, its basically 10 years old.
I’m also a huge fan of angels voice dropping into a less performative, deeper and thicker accent! I really enjoyed that voice direction/performance. I really do miss Angels more witty characterization from past iterations though, he used to be a lot more of an “average guy” who was good with guns and sleazy and genderfluid. Now he’s…he feels more of a stereotype? Less fleshed out idk !
One problem in this show is that they treat the Angels as Villains when, if you think about for more than 5 seconds, they really aren't. They are the Antagonists, sure, but they are not villains.
Hazbin just has too many characters. Like why is Carmilla on screen? She didn't need to be there. They could have given her arms dealer aspect to like Vox or someone else, to create a conflict between the main crew and the villain group. Speaking of which, Velvette didn't need to be there either- she didn't do anything relevant to the story. Valentino has a role, he's the abuser and main villain for Angel Dust. so maybe he could have done more? Also Rosie. Yeah she's cute but Charlie and Vaggie could have just talked their feelings out together and solidified their relationship.
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od "You could cut husk" He has a budding relationship with Angel Dust, one of the deuteragonists. Husk is important because he's important to Angel Dust, who is important because he's one of the primary residents of the hotel, and a passion project for Charlie. "You could cut alastor" I don't even know what to say about this. I think you just utterly lack any and all ability to comprehend media on like a basic level. Saying something like "alastor is so unimportant that you could remove him and the story would be the same" is legit so braindead that it leads me to think you're best suited to reading pop up picture books.
She is on screen because she matters to the plot. Yes she did, she helped get them angelic weapons. That makes no sense though as Vox deals in something else. Yes she did, she helped reveal Camilla's secret. Nah with Rose she helped it go by faster and helped get the cannibals to listen too.
One of the things I hated about episode 8 is that Alastor got defeated so quickly. It would have been better if he had done a little bit of damage before being defeated. It makes him look so weak.. 🤦
@@Jdudec367 for me, it makes him look pathetic for such a major antagonist for the show. Like he has been hyped up as this threatening guy only to get clocked 💀
@@-.Cosmic.- Ok I thought you meant Adam for a second lol, but for Alastor well...he isn't at the peak of his power yet clearly, him making more deals and getting more souls makes him more powerful so I bet he will get more powerful over time.
I had no idea this show existed for a long time but I immediately recognized alastor because my cousin when he was 13-14 would cosplay as him on roblox, I swear this is proof the show is geared toward more ‘childish’ audiences despite it trying to tackle adult topics it very much reminds me of what I thought was edgy as a kid, the designs and songs and everything and the amount of cussing in it is something that would’ve attracted me when I was younger
this show is just fanservice for megafans and i hate that so much. i watched the pilot in 2019 and thought the show had so much potential, but this show is genuinely horrible. shit i would've found funny when i just learned what sex is when i was like 10. the concept of the daughter of satan trying to redeem sinners is SUCH A GOOD IDEA!! such wasted potential it makes me angry and sad
can anyone tell me what the hell the point of the Hazbin Hotel is now after the first season? I mean, the show is named after this hotel and now it's basically defunct after we've learned that redemption is impossible within the parameters of heaven. It's so dumb that the set up since the first episode is now awkwardly a red herring, also that the ticking-bomb ass writing technique with the days counting down was basically pointless. There's so many weird inconsistencies in this show it just feels that they patch with catchy distracing songs. Also, I was just so fed up with the songs by the end of this show, they are so frequent, and play during every mildly emotional moment, it feels like I'm being hit over the head with a giant hammer that is inscribed 'youre supposed to feel something now, dingus!' over and over again.
I mean...the hotel is back and with Pentious redemtpion clearly isn't impossible. How is it a red herring? What ticking-bomb writing was pointless? What inconsistencies? Cuz they don't patch them with music. I mean I thought they were mostly fine tbh but ok.
And there’d genuinely be nothing wrong with that if the show was good. But it’s not. I’m a freak myself and this show could not be less appealing to me, the dialogue is just so bad i can’t even get through the pilot. Not sober, at least. It might be fetishistic but it’s not sexy.
I would like to argue that Viv only knows how to write one character but doesnt even give them all different faces. Or suits. People already made straight up venn diagrams of them but like almost every single character has one or more of these traits: Button-up suit, bowtie, top hat, big toothy scary grin Her design habits are somewhere on the same rung as the mangaka of Fairy Tail, imp
1:26:37 little nitpick of mine that basically everyone seems to have missed Vaggie didn't her wings cut off, they were **ripped directly out of her back** Just the animation and positioning of Lute's sword was weird so that's what everyone infers.
I used to be a fan of viz but she's really mean and stuck up she blocked me on twitter in 2022 bc I said in my own personal tweet "I don't really don't mind the need for redesigns but I don't have alot of hope for alastors new va because its hard to find the perfect voice for characters from an older time period." I knew that I didn't want to support or give my money towards her projects. Why should I support someone who doesn't even respect her own fans ? However, as an artist myself I do have alot to say about the show. I find viz to be insanely lazy with: 1 the bodies are always the same, if not for niffy, carmilla and mimzy they all blend together. 2 The voice acting isn't good especially for Valentino, Katy killjoy, Adam and rosie. 3 The angels are underwhelming and just look like pastel demons (wich would be fine if not for the fact viz has sinner designs in heaven. If their hell forms are based on their sins in life why wouldn't they be look like normal people in heaven? Also why does Adam look like every other demon? I'm so sick of every demon looking like an imp or furry. 4 adult animation doesn't/SHOULDN'T= constant swearing. It's lazy and it comes off as what a kid thinks "Adult animation" means. Cussing and dirty jokes don't equal maturity. 5 alot of things about the world building doesn't make sense. Adam ate the fruit and swears too why isn't he in hell? And why isn't sir pentious in his human form in heaven ? Why is he still a snake ? Viz is an incredibly lazy and entitled person, when you really think about HB/HBH isn't special or unique. Alot of stories are set in hell and have some "hellborn royal" marysue oc. Viz is a great example of getting a lucky break for something subpar.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 You get commemt of the year, especially with how the creator got lucky for making something subpar. Honestly, if A24 wasn't mostly a horror indie studio, then I don't think HH would have gotten picked up. I think A24 got this notion that the show was going to be dark, gritty, maybe horror-esque because of the setting but clearly that's not what HH is. I'm really sorry that you got blocked for simply voicing concerns, which I understand. Even looking at Alastor's "redesign" I was like, why does he look like this? Derpy and kinda aloof in an annoying kind of way. And also, I agree with the voice acting. It isn't good. Not to disrespect the VAs, they did their job but nobody's voice matches how they look. Maybe Lute and Sir Pentious, overall everyone sounds off,, especially Alastor. He was done so dirty, Edward nailed that role❤. And people swear that the show is going to get better but, eh I'm not holding my breath
@blackchickiedee7 yes I absolutely agree with you I think the show/viz ruined alastor in the pilot he was smart, charming and classy he never swore but now he does. It may seem small but something as small as him cussing just ruins him for him because you got the idea that he was above it all. It also makes so little sense for alastor to cuss because he's from a time where men never said those words with ladies and children present. Cussing was a purely male thing and even than it wasn't as bad as he does it. Alot of things about alastor don't make sense he's meant to be a deer based demon but he looks more like a fox. All they had to do is move his ears to the sides of his head and make his antlers more noticeable and they couldn't even do that. Also idk if you know this or not but alastor is meant to be black (creole to be Specific) and he just doesn't look like it at all. He died in the 30s so it's a high possibility his mother was a former slave and his dad a light man but there's nothing to indicate he's mixed. He doesn't have curly/wavy hair or a bigger nose, even something as small as mannerisms can go a long way. the first time I saw encanto one of the characters snaped their hand and i felt so seen because that's something I've only seen my dad and other black people do and tbh I've always been wary that viz is racist (just a feeling) all her characters are white even the ones who are poc. The vaggie is meant to be Hispanic but she's always just looked Indian or middle Eastern to me. Alastor's desigh is kinda awful in the show there's something about it that just seems off. I'm kind of over her now, it's the same stuff every episode imps and furries. (I was expecting beelz to be a queen bee or fly demon instead it's another furry) I do think that when it comes to shows like this it needs to follow the bible somewhat and it just doesn't so why not just make a place up for the series why have these biblical places at all if she's not gonna use them to show off the horrors/wonders of heaven and hell?
@@problematicprincess6270 no for real Alastor is suppose to be black/part of the black community and his features don't resemble that. Yeah, he's mixed/Creole and it's just a theory that one of his parents was black, specifically his mother (probably where he got his Creole origins) but if that's the case then yeah Alastor is black and fans want to treat or say he isn't by white washing him or say Creole doesn't mean being black. Especially more so if one of his parents was black, lol like duh you guys come on. Now, as a black woman I understand we come in different shades, I understand that people who are mixed are not always gonna have a dark tone of skin. Alastor is probably "high yellow" lol and/or probably had light skin but that doesn't equate to making him white. Right like where IS his curly hair? Fuller lips? Broad nose? SOMETHING, give him something to indicate he's of mixed heritage. Especially with that awful hair cut. I mean, if he's from a specific time period where he believes that it's the best one and he's not all that progressive then why does he have this 2000's Karen bob hair cut? His hair should be styled akin to how men had it back in the 20's. Give my man's a jheri curl, something! 😆😅 apparently the next season will focus on the character's background story and how they ended up in hell and, I'm not too sure the creator will do Alastor justice, especially when someone said the creator mentioned Alastor being "white passing" when he was alive. So I'm like.... yikes 😬😬😬 and I wouldn't be surprised if the creator was racist, characters who are POC don't have any features that would tell you otherwise. And I don't want to hear people's argument of "they're dead characters they're not gonna have human features" duh, news flash you can still make non human characters black coded or represent a certain ethnicity, other creators/shows do it all of the time. And it's not just the creator possibly being racist, I have first hand, witnessed the fanbase saying out of pocket or microaggressive things when it comes to the black community. I'm not surprised though, unfortunately. And as for Alastor's personality, yeah the tonal shift is a whiplash that I'm HIGHLY disappointed about. He really does act like everyone else as opposed to being a radio host from the 20's. In the show he has his moments but it's only shown for convenience - even the cussing. Like, we were led to believe that Alastor only used foul language because he was either genuinely pissed or no one was around to hear it. Like, a little detail like that let's us know that he's trying to put on a facade of being better than everyone else, like as you said, using language like that is beneath him but when he reaches that breaking point he doesn't care. That's what the creator implied during podcasts and that's what happened in his comic. But, no, in the final product he's just been resorted to a sassy pretentious edge lord stuck in the My Chemical Romance era. Like, with his interaction between Lucifer, why did he just resort to saying "Fuck you"? Alastor is from the South, OLD South lol how compelling it would be if we got an Alastor who knew how to throw shade and make underhanded side remarks because he's clever enough to read someone for filth without resorting to juvenile swears? Oh, because that would require good writing and the creator doesn't do that? Ah okay, then that makes sense
@blackchickiedee7 omg THANK YOU! yes it makes little to no sense also another reason I think alastor cussing makes no sense is that if he's a poc like you said why would he be cussing? In the sense that because he grew up in the south there would have been more factors to stop it such as manners ,black and Hispanics tend to make it very clear that nobody cusses around their elders even adults and that mixed with the fact he's from the South you'd assume his mama would tell him to be on his very best behaviour to avoid unnecessary abuse from the white people. I can't speak about being creole because I'm mixed race and apparently their the same but different. (I know their of Hispanic, black and European decent but idk enough to talk about it 🥹🥲) Even if he wasn't creole and he was just a regular mixed person he'd still have features of black people like the lips and nose. Hell, even the eye shape most mixed people tend to have almond eyes. Alastor has alot going on and its too much at once, he's a fox deer, he's a radio and he's a voodoo wendigo. I can understand the radio thing but the deer/wendigo doesn't really work because he's not native, sure he's a cannibal (I guess??) But than wendigos were only implied to be other natives who ate their own tribesmen. There's another thing viz said years ago on a live that he was mistaken for a deer and shot (how that justify his looks idk 🤷🏾♀️) it would make more sense to keep the radio and mix it southern life. Another thing that annoys me is his voice he sounded amazing in the pilot in the show he sounds so flat. I hate valentines voice the most though. He's from the 70s idk why they'd give him such a whiney gay sounding voice. Tbh I always pictured him sounding more like a pimp with a deeper smoother voice. I have a similar issue with vox, he's from the 50s but he doesn't have that fast talking trans-atlantic accent. he just sounds like a guy also he has a flat screen for a head if he's from the 50s he should have a box TV look. Rosie has such a strange voice too I was expecting her to sound a bit more like darling from lady and the tramp. The voice of Katy killjoy is awful the og va was amazing.
@@problematicprincess6270 Yeah as you said, the character designs are lazy and similar to each other. Even with the characters being from different time periods, no one really acts like it except for Mimzy, occasionally Alastor, and Zestial (so I hear). Instead of focusing on individual characters the creator just does the same ole relationship drama. And yes, Alastor has a lot going on - I'm fine with him having radio based powers, but why the voodoo? Why incorporate it if you weren't going to do your research? I think she just saw Princess and the Frog, watched Dr. Facilier and wanted Alastor to do the same. Because I've seen Alastor's early design and there's no indication of him practicing it. Like, she just has this basic glorified view of it. Gurl, lol 😆 I'm just glad I'm not entirely crazy, you and other's comments have made me feel validated because any time I bring up these topics I get shredded
Really good point about how this show isn't really good at handling more adult-oriented topics like sexuality. This entire critique video is excellent and very fair, it sucks that there are immature people sending you bad faith comments for this.
1:28:30 In regards to the voice acting quality difference, I wouldn’t be surprised if those lines were actually filmed on the same day, or at least not very far apart! With what I’ve heard beard from Brendon Rogers, (Blitzo from Helluva Boss, the spinoff) the voice acting sessions can be pretty rigorous at times where they’ll have you in a booth just doing lines for like 4 hours without really any breaks, and you gotta be at a 10 the entire time. Instead of giving a break or waiting for the next session, they probably kept going and used what they had. It may not sound very demanding, but can be quite tiring especially for people who may not be as used to voice acting (unsure if Angel Dusts VA does a lot or not). As for the Pilot - that’s just a completely different voice actor.
Someone compared the opening of the first episode to the book from MLP and it's hilarious how close it is; you could splice it together and have almost no notice.
nice analysis :3 i like hazbin but i think my main issue is that it keeps on drifting away from its main premise there is a lot of focus on the Overlords and side characters and side plots, yet we only get _one_ hotel guest in the entire season. i think the main antagonist should have been what the hotel is fighting against: the system that determines a human's place in heaven or hell. but it almost feels like the show doesn't care about that. the unfairness of it all is acknowledged - there are bad angels and good sinners - but the whole idea of her "going to the top" with the Seraphims is rendered pointless when they don't know who/what gives divine judgement, and it feels unrewarding for the audience to have no idea either. not to mention, the system inexplicably changes at the end, leaving us with more intrigue and nothing to speculate on this is possible to fix in season 2, but it makes the ending of season 1 very unsatisfying. the main conflict was that "angels are killing demons": the hotel was technically important as they served as an opposing entity, and their connection let them 'fight for love', but it still ended in violence and even the murder of Adam. it doesn't feel like it fits into the premise of the show very much. they could have just made Adam/the angels more lenient to the idea of redemption, and made getting a sinner into Heaven the focus, rather than this whole extermination & war plot
This comment section is filled with hazbin kids getting butt hurt because someone has an opinion. Lol it is just funny to watch their pathetic desperation to defend their little demon show fail miserably and make a fool out of themselves LMAO
@peterdarker3863 by "hazbin kids" I mean people who are never able to grow up mentally and still cry about people having an opinion on their "10/10 masterpiece adult cartoon" that is being worshipped like it's the second coming of christ, trust me I had an argument with one and he just proved my point on how childish he is lol
As someone who likes Hazbin hotel, you are entitled to your own opinion! And thank GOD no one shares the same opinion, I mean, how boring would life be if we all just agreed?
I'd say a lot of these points I agree with. But the complaint about genre hopping in the songs really doesn't make sense to me. Broadway shows do it all the time. It's actually seen as odd if they don't.
Don't mind the kiddie Hazbin fans blasting you, man. They are just a bunch of teenagers who just discovered swear and sex jokes and haven't experienced maturity. The creator is just as incompetent too, whining about criticism like a teen and putting info on outside source instead of the main show which confuses the outsiders like me. This show is for little kiddies, not for actual adults. The 13+ warning on the wiki gives me "I am so edgy and mature" vibe. The premise had that potential, just that it's created by the wrong hands. It's so rushed and sudden that the characters never got the time to be who they are. We don't trully know who is X or Y, unless we listen to the creator's live streams or what. They also don't know how to address personal problems, eg the "daddy issues" of Charlie. It's so artificial and obvious the creator has no research or experience with relationship problems and would put it for the sake of it. Not to mention the too many characters introduced for the whole 8 episodes. There are like at least 20 of them and we barely even know any of them because of how tight the time frame is. The biggest offender is the fat lady and the Velvet fashionista, because they are pointless and other existing characters can fill their role up to give them more use. Kill your darlings is a thing. I don't know if the creator can change if she's just as immature as her fans. This potential has been burned to hell as she expected.
Literally, if I was in elementary right now I would’ve loved this show, I used to make the same type of “edgy” stuff and on the front write “non adults allowed” ☠️☠️☠️
After watching this video multiple times, ive come up with the conclusion that Valentino is an important charecter (?), please correct me if i am wrong
When I filmed that bit and sent it to my best friend (we were getting burritos the day after) we both had no clue, but I did find out and now I can't see the clip without knowing the lyrics. I was so worried everybody would find it obvious because now I know the words I can't NOT hear it, you know? Haha. I guess I owe you a burrito now too, right?
Your assessment was very on point! This show doesn't feel like a fully realized season with a cohesive story, it feels like a passion project made just so an artist can see her beloved ocs in (very well made and performed) music videos that have the thinest thread conecting each other... It's hard to completely hate the thing because the actors are so damn good but it's like giving super high end expensive ingredients to someone who can't cook, YOU CAN'T just say a song sung by keith david is BAD, just like you can't say a plate of undercooked rice with truffles on top tastes BAD, but it could be so much better if the chef was competent and actually tried to make a harmonious menu instead of just throwing a bunch of different stuff on the plate because they like the taste of them individually.
this is a really good video! idk why like half the comments are acting like you have bad takes😭 ive seen a lot of reviews on hazbin and ive never seen anyone talk about the angel/anthony thing, its genuinely such a good plot point
I've tried to enjoy Hazbin Hotel since I know it's done a lot for the indie animation industry, and I hope it's not just me, but I feel kind of disappointed that it's making the community look bad. Mainly representation wise. Don't get me wrong here because I don't have any experience with character design, but it's insane for practically every character to have 2-inch waists and the physique of sticks. The main relationship, which is supposed to be LGBT rep, is honestly so crappy?? I kid you not when I say I didn't even realize Charlie and Vaggie were dating until atleast three episodes in when they were sharing the same bed since the romance goes as Vaggie motivating Charlie over and over. There's nothing that makes me want to like them because they did nothing to make their dynamic stand out or any moments that made me root for them. Then there's the entire theme of the show which is Christianity (or what I think is the theme because I can't quite tell what they want to communicate). Firstly, it's important to state that I am religious and I am aware of it's faults, but eitherway, this show doesn't seem to have any idea of what the religion is actually about. I feel like the entire way Heaven's represented comes out of a place of spite rather than logic. Out of any way to portray it, why would the angels not know what it takes to get into Heaven?!? Maybe if it wanted to critique Christianity, it could've been based around the fact it pressures some people to be a perfect human being and no rules can be disobeyed... but they don't know the rules??? I'm confident it's because the moral line in this show is in zigzag patterns and everything is presented differently so the writers didn't have to clearly point out the flaws in the worldbuilding. Anyway sorry about the rant I've been dying to get it out of my system. I loved this video and as a person with ADHD I feel like I can actually listen to your voice LOL. For those disagreeing with the video in the comments-- we just love yapping about some shit sometimes and let us yap.
When making a show that has the afterlife as one of it's centers and specifically Christianity, they surely could've had represented it far better than they had. There are symbolisms scattered everywhere around the show but when it comes to the way the afterlife actually functions it is completely stereotyped. I understand that it isn't supposed to be completely bibically accurate, but how could they not follow the theme their going for at all??! Especially when they symbolize Christianity in such a negative light.
Also, it's Christian culture that forces people to be perfect, not Christianity. The Christian life Is all about repentence and relationship with the trinity, not being perfect. Even if someone were to commit adultery once as a Christian isn't going to send them to hell, they just need to repent. It is iniquity (continual, unrepentant, willful sin) that gets someone to lose their salvation.
@@GenuinelyGamingRn Exactly!! I was thinking the whole extermination thing would've made more sense if it was being done by residents of purgatory, as it's the definition of being morally grey. Instead they chose.. angels??? Not only does it put Christianity in a bad light by doing that, but it just does not make sense. Are you telling me those murderous assasins made it into heaven?? How the hell did Adam get in?? Why do they portray Sera as being so wise and good when she made the exterminations happen?? The villain role would've fit far better in the story if purgatory existed in it.
I'm truly sorry for the comment section, but you have to understand that dropping a video like this is BIG. For most people, including me usually, It just gets really annoying when you genuinely like the show, I respect everyone's opinions! But I've seen countless videos discussing why it was quote on quote "A mess, horrible, not worth the wait". I literally am nervous to express my love for this show because before you know it someone is gonna jump me for it. There are plenty of videos discussing the bad in the show. I've even had a few friends who had never even watched the show and claimed it to be all the stereotypical Vivziepop complaints- Luckily you don't fall into this category, this was a pretty good video and I actually hope this video does well!
What do you mean most of the comment section is just haters making essays on why the show is horrible meanwhile its a 6/10 and I feel like every fan could agree with that
And the only two replies kinda prove you right lol I agree though, I hate talking about how I like the show because most people that post about it have just heard third hand that they should hate Vivziepop and that’s she’s the bad person and cringe and whatever. This video is actual well thought out critiques and I appreciate that.
My problem with hazbin is that it wastes time. Well doesn't use it responsibly. Like, a lot of the run time is the songs, and some of them dont matter for the season. Or characters being shoved it. Like Camilla, girl i love you and all. BUT, what was your purpose....? Besides telling stuff that we kinda of already know. Or Lucifer, im not saying that he is not important. BUT, he should have been in s2 not s1. He kinda messed up the plot. And don't get me start on how the heaven plot taking over the Hotel plot.
First of all: my compliments. You are clearly a clever person and very good at analyzing films. Second: I'll give you some advice, if you allow me. When editing video, keep the background music much lower, and only turn it up when clips from the film are playing. This way your voice will be heard clearly, while the movie clips will be less recognizable by the algorithm. So less risk of copyright infringement. If you edit with Premiere, you can increase the quality of your voice with the "noise removal" tool in the audio effects section. You need to drag the effect onto the audio track you want to edit. Then you can work on the effect you put by full clicking the little "fx" icon on the audio track, so it won't remove too much.
Despite just a complete misinterpretation of a handful of things, such as Vaggie's skin wasn't originally pink, that's just lighting, and basically most of the stuff about the music. This video has actually made some new and interesting points of criticism. And any new reason to dislike Mimzy is always a good thing
also maybe a diehard viv fan can explain this to me but i dont get the point of the exterminations? its not like the angels needs to worry about hell's population spilling into heaven; they dont share a border, theyre in different dimensions. kind of seems like a waste of resources
I loved that intro, "this is best listened to in the background while doing something else", meanwhile I'm in another tab getting my own story I've had boiling under the surface for years written down somewhere finally. I might've found my people.
My actual thoughts: I really like your video! I'm watching these parts back to back, and I love that you can hear the visible confusion during the detailed points of "this is weird, this is weird right?". I will freely admit to not watching anything from Vivzie deeper than what you can find on her channel, and I've just started watching Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss critique videos lol. Many critiques I've found so far pretty much agrees Hasbin Hotel feels way too fast-paced and almost a fanfiction of itself. The original characterization that people fell in love with were either retconned, fetishized, or handled so poorly everyone became as one-dimensional as just walking trauma. And not even well-researched trauma or in a clever subversion! I can't be convinced the writers understand what they're writing from when the entirety show sounds like a sad tumblr mood board tag section. No one except Angeldust seems to have any reason to be acting the way they are. Even Angeldust seems odd now, since his trauma is getting dr**ged up to have s*x with multiple people, but his escape to get away from that all is... to get dr**ged up.... to have s*x.... with multiple people... I don't even want to get into who storyboarded it. I don't really care who has what kinks, as long as it doesn't impact their work. I'm a stinking aromantic happily celibate ace and I'm so friggin tired of the doubling down on the sex jokes. I've seen good sex jokes. I've seen good queer rep. This really isn't it. It was eh at first, as a queer show owning itself I tried to just go with it. But the more I watched HB, the more it looked like it just wanted people to sexualize... mostly male relationships, and demonize women for owning anything about themselves. I am actually glad to hear HH seems to have done slightly better, but even from here I can tell the "women-central show" is very flat in any of the fem representation. I do think the storyboard PR could have been handled better, but I feel like it's a moot point to argue when the creator, uh, has deliberately built her career around fetishizing gay ab*se? Say what you will about representation, but it's not great for anyone when you're just meant to see all mlm in the world as sexy pr0n bait. Like, that seems to be the only things they can write, implying someone in power is ab*sing their underlings, and for some reason make that super-imposing ab*se super s*xually charged. That and mismanaged daddy issues. That are just. Stated to exist instead of shown. For some reason. I followed Vivzie's work about as deep as keeping up with the current Helluva Boss episode and slowly becoming disinterested. I didn't engage with the fandom because, while they were making creative and inspired art, they were seeing things I weren't and I just wasn't comfortable with the show constantly prodding us with the "isn't Stolitz cute?" stick. Not really, but to each their own I guess. I don't ship Angeldust and Val for the same reason I don't ship Stolitz. I started noticing a lot of (imho) repetitive inexcusable mistakes that made me just want to drop the entirety of the universe and just watch it all go down from afar. I've given up after the season 2 finale of HB and started turning to videos critiquing their works and dissecting the writing mistakes. Call it an echo chamber, but it's really helped me break down why I didn't like what I was seeing, and a lot of these details really pointed out how... bad.... this all is. I can only imagine it's fun if your main fiction consumption is fanfic? Fanfic is great in seclusion, but I do wish people would stop pretending it's peak cinema and character writing. It maybe also really shouldn't bleed into the mainstream where certain (MORE MORALLY BUT CULTURALLY INAPPROPRIATELY USED-TO-BE-GREY-AREA ACTIONS, *back off* all ye "they're in hell what did you expect" devil's advocates) actions can be weaseled in as more heroic or sympathetic, and NORMALIZED because of these being shown as sympathetic in the mainstream media. Things like Stolitz does this constantly, in two seasons none of the character dynamics have actually changed and the plot is vindicating Stolas for holding his authority over Blitz ever since the pilot. Outside of a few of Vivzie's old college projects, I haven't watched anything by Spindlehorse, not even Hazbin Hotel. And I find it hilarious how whenever I critique it, fans will crawl out of the woodwork to defend the choices and explain it's good writing actually. That's.... Super funny??? Because it definitely isn't??? Imagine going to a burger joint and getting excited you get to imagine you're eating the food you enjoy, meanwhile you were served the bun, the lettuce, a splash of mayo, and a side of ketchup precum in place of fries. Mostly because if you want to be a casual fan, you can't. The only way to understand and enjoy the world is if you have the several knowledge of spontaneous lore drops. You're meant to be deeply invested in the lore that isn't included in part of the canon story.
The concept of the show had so much potential, dammed souls getting saved and what redemption really means. But instead they make heaven out to be the bad guys which undermines the sins of the characters. People like Angel but apparently he was in the mafia and Alastor is a full on serial killer. The show needed to make these characters terrible people who can have a second change if they earn it. It’s like watching shows like Bojack or the Sopranos where you watch these scumbags dig their own graves wail also hoping they get better, wail at the same time asking yourself do they deserve redemption. But instead they make heaven the bad guys making the whole system confusing.
Sir Pentious. Sir, not lord. It is a very small, very stupid pun, because he is a serpent, but as dumb as it is I still laugh. Haven’t finished the video yet but just needed to get that off my chest.
Idk a better way to say this but only people who grew up religious and having a deep understanding of the Bible could make this show good😭 or hell people that read
I’ve seen other folks bring it up but the show is strange in that it claims to be critiquing (seemingly Protestant) Christianity but then it ends up agreeing with a lot of it
@@SodaFrizz666 I mean not reallly Viv herself grew up religious, she did do research here, she never claimed it would be 1:1. It really isn't useless how is it when that's what the story is about?
I know that you mentioned bojack BUT if anyone wants a rehabilitation show set in hell that actually does the concept justice I really really recommend the good place
@@monroe7532 Hazbin hotel is literally the most popular animated series ever released on amazon, even outperforming invincible. I wouldn't personally call that a stumble and fall.
Really wish the show was focused more on morality, and the concept of heaven and hell, but instead it just feels like what an edgy 12 year old would come up with. In my opinion the show should've just stuck with Charlie trying to redeem people and trying to find out what makes some one redeemed instead of trying to be an epic fantasy story Love this video btw and your political views are based asf
No it's not just you. She was and it's, frustrating and even more so when fans try to justify it. Not only does she not have any self awareness or self realization that she really doesn't do much to help patrons at the hotel - only using toxic positivity to motivate others instead of trying to learn and educate herself. And Alastor literally told her how he manipulates others by smiling all of the time and five seconds later she just, up and makes a deal with him🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ if you have to dumb down your characters for plot convenience then that's not adequate writing
She was, in the pilot Charlie has the decency to defend herself enough to show she wasn't fully stupid. She fought Kattie Killjoy and when Alastor asked for a deal she used her title to avoid it. I don't know what they did to my girl but in the show, Charlie is legit acting like a little kid who’s discovering the world.
My biggest gripes with this show is it doesn’t understand how redemption work at all. Too many characters u can axe every beside vaggie Charlie & alastor from the protagonist side and u would have a better story. Charlie is an idiot who clearly has no idea what she’s doing at all & she’s right for the plot to progress because of anyone questions her the story can’t continue and would probably end along with the fact that Adam is right
it always drove me insane how the voice acting and animation are genuinely great but then the writing is some of the actual worst I have seen in my entire life, beyond it’s so bad it’s good and fully into the realm of just sobbing endlessly
The writing team was confirmed to have 10 people on it. Maybe that's why? Either way, someone definitely missed some major writing and storytelling lessons along the way
The songs in hazbin hotel suffer GREATLY because of the genre mashing. Some songs do this well but, hazbin hotel does not... It makes it impossible to listen to a song on spotify or something because you have to sit through the cliche 30 second fakeout part (which always sucks) of the song to get to the totally 100% shocking and definitely not predictable chorus.
The songs are absolutely amazing the animation and voice acting is great and humor is subjective obviously not every joke lands but many do so when you say something is "painfully unfunny" that's a bad argument imo unless its like Velma or smth
If it was handled like smiling friends - in the sense it focused on what the character's jobs are like it seems to want to do - then i think it would've been more consistant. That's all I wanted to say, good video.
In-depth criticism = jealousy. Please, be more open minded.
You stay silent about their off the ground >:((

Also only the male characters get to be “sexy” (making sex jokes or actually shown having sex). The women in hazbin are chaste and sexless. I get having some vanilla relationship rep but it feels weird that the lesbian couple, the MAIN couple, is so weirdly conservative. And you can also be in a long term relationship and still be sexual with each other! If the guys in the show are allowed to be horny the girls should too. I’m not counting Niffy cuz she’s a nothing character.
Fully agree. Especially since Viv said that Hazbin would be the “woman led show” and more “focused on the females,” yet we never see that.
@@The_color_blue yes that too!! SO disappointing :(
@@AutumnOddity even if they were insistant on making them sexless, it could've been a nice opportunity for making asexual characters
but that would require writing an actual bond between them or any sort of believable affection between characters that isn't sexual, too much work for the HH team i guess
Wait... I just realized that niffty is really a nothing character. She really doesn't have any interesting lore or personality except for being cute and psychopathic
@@MelodiePJ exactly she’s a gag character but she doesn’t work as that even cuz her gag isn’t funny
Aside from Angel and Stolas who are prominent examples, there are also others I could talk about, like:
They don't though, Charlie and Vaggie get attention in multiple episodes and they actually have romantic moments unlike Angel and Husk.
not to mention that Angel was part of the mob when he was alive, so he almost certainly committed some heinous crimes himself
I honestly can’t help but laugh at how angry other Hazbin Hotel fans get over when someone criticises it. This is coming from a fan of Hazbin Hotel.
@@DragonKingMadaraUchihaFor many reasons
“Bashing for no reason”.. dude did you even watch the video and comprehend anything that was talked about
@DragonKingMadaraUchiha ..okay but as someone who's actually focused on higher level writing, Cassidy is right in a lot of these things, the fact that they kneecap an obvious arc where angel gets ignored and goes back to his abuser, making conflict naturally flow, the fact this story stated more then shows, it's insistence on focusing on random side charcaters meanwhile it's barely got it's plot together, the fact Charlie trusts some random woman with not tempting the rehab people into sinning, the fact Adam is A flat, barely comprehendible villain and why is he in heaven if he invented sin. And more, you just hate the concept of someone having differing opinions then you on the shows objective quality so maybe just, merry off and grow up? Lmao

@@DragonKingMadaraUchihaWhat are those new RUclips policies that don't allow you to make longer comments?
It makes me laugh that they always try to paint Alastor as someone very powerful and something we should have and he literally does nothing 😭😭😭
I mean, you really think Charlie and the hotel would allow him to do stuff like that?
He attacks people, he steals souls, I don`t see how that`s nothing.
vivziepop neglected to write him properly.
That was Charlie commanding alastor with her voice?
I think it's the best to have him swear in a "gentlemanly" way, that matches his time period. So, no "shit" or "fuck" or anything of that sort
@@moonzie37Agreed, I don't get why they didn't go in that direction. I think Viv may have an unhealthy fixation on swearing lol
@@Laura-iu8sp I heard from a tweet that she even admitted how the reason there's so much swearing is because SHE enjoys it
@@moonzie37Yeah, she said she finds it hilarious. There's even a YT video of the cast playing this game counting how many times they swore or something. And some of the highest rated posts I've seen on the Hazbin Reddit were people counting how much each character swore! It's just odd lol.
@@Laura-iu8sp At least South Park and BoJack have clever jokes (also with swearing, but better written)
This show feels like an dictionary example of "safe edgy"
or like "tactless edginess from the 2000s" All it needs is a MCR or a Green Day song to compliment the trite immaturity.

Half of this show is Alastor wandering around the city doing fuck all.
I don’t know why this made me laugh😭
All this and more in part 3 next month

@zergling-si4vf Yeah cuz thats all the way in episode 6, why the hell couldn't she just said that earlier, why did we have to figure that out half way into the show
(around 31 min in) something i came up with for the trust fall drop joke off the top of my head is like
niffty says her thing, husk says something like "damn that girls crazy" or similar, possibly not even in a mean way, like he could be laughing and saying it in an appreciative way, charlie turns around to be like heyyy we dont use words like that here and while her back is turned niffty takes her tumble, charlie freezes and after a second starts with the "i am soooo-" only to be cut off by niffty laughing and doing her repeatedly jumping off the stage bit
there! preserves charlies character as well as adding a dimension about her inexperience in this area and parodying people who care more about using The Nice Words than actually helping and supporting the people theyre trying to defend, plus a little side characterisation building up husk as someone who calls it how he sees it and doesnt shy away from saying things that could be hurtful
something i noticed about the show is something that will never stop bothering me. it's the fact that we know nothing about a majority of the main cast, who are they? who were they when they were alive? how did they die? why are they in hell? none of these questions are answered, we're already done with the first season and we know absolutely nothing about them.
How do you see the dislikes?

I like that this review fully incapsulates what many have been breaking down for months, heck probably years. The show's core audience comes from stans that tune into livestreams, wikis, tweets, and fan speculation for information without taking into account that newer audiences will know nothing about and if they want to, will have to dig through the internet to find out what's true, what's fanbased, and what's old information that's no longer irrelevant.
As for the core premise of the show, it suffers the same fate that Helluva Boss does, to where the actual synopsis doesn't play out in the writing.
Edit: Brave, are you, for tackling the show's faults

I have a question. What is Angel Dusts sin that landed him in Hell?
He's a mobster. So he probably committed murder, extortion, profited from people's suffering (for example selling drugs to people who are going through a bad time in their lives) etc.
And what if he felt guilty about doing these things to people, but insted of try to do something that would redeem himself (for example he tried to stop his family or help the people he wronged), he insisted fell into sex and drugs to ignore the guilt.
A better question would be what is sir pentious’ sin that landed him in hell

I really disliked Velvette when she showed up, and i dont think enough people acknowledge how bullshit her claims of being "the backbone of the V's" is, coming from her.
•She likes *1* fashon aesthetic that we only see *her* take interest in in any given scene. So her being an overlord for fashion makes no sense because she straight up doesn't like other styles
•Her being a social media manager is just and extension of what Vox actually could just pay a different person to do anyway, unless her powers involve that potion we saw on that billboard in which, still not very powerful, its just her making drugs
She really does nothing to earn this bravado.
Also 2 other things that should be noted:
1: bri’ish
2: why the hell was she bitching to the other overlords that they should attack heaven and then do absolutely nothing when the angels decide to attack, is she stupid?
There was supposed to be more episodes and vivziepop didn’t know the show was going to have 8 episodes

Adam attempting to kill Charlie specifically violates that deal and is the reason he showed up when he did
@mxp9000
All the show tells us is that he made a deal with Heaven allowing the exterminations in order to spare demonkind according to Lute in episode 1.
Very good point!
@@cooplagoop328 It sorta shows it too.
It is shown that he isn`t really affected by the extermination itself though.
It is shown that he only shows up when his daughter is hurt implying that the deal was then broken.
Yeah honestly I’d be glad for Charlie to beat Adam up herself because that’d be epic

And hell is basic heaven for jerk people, You can have your drugs, Drinks and you can also been a overlord.

Nah where is the money or the economy? We don`t know too much about that stuff yet so you aren`t really right, also it's well....a more ideal society it isn`t really Earth.

The whole show is the epitome of style over substance.
Alastor was more intimidating in the pilot, he's just a dude in the show
It seems like Hazbin writers forgot to "kill their darlings."
Thats an excellent comparison!

I'm like an hour in and I wanna agree that Hazbin Hotel: The Show feels like a flanderization (?) of itself
I think you can cut Nifty Husk Adam Emily and even Alastor since he doesn't serve much of a purpose (even though he's easily the best chracter)
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od "You could cut husk"
He has a budding relationship with Angel Dust, one of the deuteragonists. Husk is important because he's important to Angel Dust, who is important because he's one of the primary residents of the hotel, and a passion project for Charlie.
"You could cut alastor"
I don't even know what to say about this. I think you just utterly lack any and all ability to comprehend media on like a basic level. Saying something like "alastor is so unimportant that you could remove him and the story would be the same" is legit so braindead that it leads me to think you're best suited to reading pop up picture books.
Vox as an arms dealer??ugh gag me.
@@xXFluffers without Alastor how would she get the meeting or even know about Rosie??
She is on screen because she matters to the plot. Yes she did, she helped get them angelic weapons. That makes no sense though as Vox deals in something else. Yes she did, she helped reveal Camilla's secret. Nah with Rose she helped it go by faster and helped get the cannibals to listen too.
One of the things I hated about episode 8 is that Alastor got defeated so quickly. It would have been better if he had done a little bit of damage before being defeated. It makes him look so weak.. 🤦

The show was created and written specifically with the deviantart art fetish seeking crowd in mind. Prove me wrong.
And there’d genuinely be nothing wrong with that if the show was good. But it’s not. I’m a freak myself and this show could not be less appealing to me, the dialogue is just so bad i can’t even get through the pilot. Not sober, at least. It might be fetishistic but it’s not sexy.

I find viz to be insanely lazy with:
1 the bodies are always the same, if not for niffy, carmilla and mimzy they all blend together.
(I know their of Hispanic, black and European decent but idk enough to talk about it 🥹🥲)
Even if he wasn't creole and he was just a regular mixed person he'd still have features of black people like the lips and nose.

As for the Pilot - that’s just a completely different voice actor.

nice analysis :3 i like hazbin but i think my main issue is that it keeps on drifting away from its main premise
there is a lot of focus on the Overlords and side characters and side plots, yet we only get _one_ hotel guest in the entire season. i think the main antagonist should have been what the hotel is fighting against: the system that determines a human's place in heaven or hell. but it almost feels like the show doesn't care about that. the unfairness of it all is acknowledged - there are bad angels and good sinners - but the whole idea of her "going to the top" with the Seraphims is rendered pointless when they don't know who/what gives divine judgement, and it feels unrewarding for the audience to have no idea either. not to mention, the system inexplicably changes at the end, leaving us with more intrigue and nothing to speculate on
this is possible to fix in season 2, but it makes the ending of season 1 very unsatisfying. the main conflict was that "angels are killing demons": the hotel was technically important as they served as an opposing entity, and their connection let them 'fight for love', but it still ended in violence and even the murder of Adam. it doesn't feel like it fits into the premise of the show very much. they could have just made Adam/the angels more lenient to the idea of redemption, and made getting a sinner into Heaven the focus, rather than this whole extermination & war plot
This comment section is filled with hazbin kids getting butt hurt because someone has an opinion. Lol it is just funny to watch their pathetic desperation to defend their little demon show fail miserably and make a fool out of themselves LMAO

I was so worried everybody would find it obvious because now I know the words I can't NOT hear it, you know? Haha. I guess I owe you a burrito now too, right?
@@cassidyangelpuppyI watch stuff with subtitles
Your assessment was very on point! This show doesn't feel like a fully realized season with a cohesive story, it feels like a passion project made just so an artist can see her beloved ocs in (very well made and performed) music videos that have the thinest thread conecting each other...
It's hard to completely hate the thing because the actors are so damn good but it's like giving super high end expensive ingredients to someone who can't cook, YOU CAN'T just say a song sung by keith david is BAD, just like you can't say a plate of undercooked rice with truffles on top tastes BAD, but it could be so much better if the chef was competent and actually tried to make a harmonious menu instead of just throwing a bunch of different stuff on the plate because they like the taste of them individually.
this is a really good video! idk why like half the comments are acting like you have bad takes😭
ive seen a lot of reviews on hazbin and ive never seen anyone talk about the angel/anthony thing, its genuinely such a good plot point
The creator of hazbin said hazbin isn’t biblically accurate
That song Vaggie sang could've been replaced with a full-on moment of intimacy, THAT'S NOT HARD TO THINK OF!
I've even had a few friends who had never even watched the show and claimed it to be all the stereotypical Vivziepop complaints-
Luckily you don't fall into this category, this was a pretty good video and I actually hope this video does well!
What do you mean most of the comment section is just haters making essays on why the show is horrible meanwhile its a 6/10 and I feel like every fan could agree with that
This is not healthy
And any new reason to dislike Mimzy is always a good thing
valentino reminds me of that family guy episode where peter becomes quagmire's pimp lmfao. youre so right about him just being a trope
also maybe a diehard viv fan can explain this to me but i dont get the point of the exterminations? its not like the angels needs to worry about hell's population spilling into heaven; they dont share a border, theyre in different dimensions. kind of seems like a waste of resources
Congrats!! Being a writer can be so hard sometimes so it's amazing that you started working on your story. I wish you all the best in your journey
Uh oh, you criticized the internets favorite show, prepare to be flame warred.
The writing team legit chose to critique a topic they can't even bother to research! Lmao. Just further proves the setting of Hell is useless
I’ve seen other folks bring it up but the show is strange in that it claims to be critiquing (seemingly Protestant) Christianity but then it ends up agreeing with a lot of it
I mean....that is what we got tbh
@@SodaFrizz666 I mean not reallly Viv herself grew up religious, she did do research here, she never claimed it would be 1:1. It really isn't useless how is it when that's what the story is about?
I know that you mentioned bojack BUT if anyone wants a rehabilitation show set in hell that actually does the concept justice I really really recommend the good place
Yes!
The good placed ran so hazbin hotel could stumble and fall
@@monroe7532 LMAO
@@monroe7532 Hazbin hotel is literally the most popular animated series ever released on amazon, even outperforming invincible. I wouldn't personally call that a stumble and fall.
@@xXFluffers That's because people aren't watching reviews or keeping up online besides watching the show, no shxt it is that popular.
Really wish the show was focused more on morality, and the concept of heaven and hell, but instead it just feels like what an edgy 12 year old would come up with. In my opinion the show should've just stuck with Charlie trying to redeem people and trying to find out what makes some one redeemed instead of trying to be an epic fantasy story
Love this video btw and your political views are based asf
38:28 - My school has free lunch so this doesn't really affect me, but I think she says "You and the Vees are inane and uninformed"
this show is way too predictable
Is it me or was Charlie dumb down more then in the pilot
No it's not just you. She was and it's, frustrating and even more so when fans try to justify it. Not only does she not have any self awareness or self realization that she really doesn't do much to help patrons at the hotel - only using toxic positivity to motivate others instead of trying to learn and educate herself. And Alastor literally told her how he manipulates others by smiling all of the time and five seconds later she just, up and makes a deal with him🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ if you have to dumb down your characters for plot convenience then that's not adequate writing
Yeah 😢
I didn't see much of a difference between pilot Charlie and this Charlie
Yeah honestly now that you mention it, I think pilot Charlie’s character is more genuine??? Idk
Either way, someone definitely missed some major writing and storytelling lessons along the way
man i love some Hazbin Hotel critique while i play Stardew Valley
hazbin hotel is trying too hard to be funny and edgy that its not funny
H U M O R I S S U B J E C T I V E
1:14:47 one small thing. Many people cannot comprehend *Women*, especially Women in positions of power like Sera and Emily are.
Im glad theres more people that feel the same lol. A lot of ppl ik really like this show but i dont see the appeal
I know a lot of fans that are rewriting the show and they criticize the show
The songs are absolutely amazing the animation and voice acting is great and humor is subjective obviously not every joke lands but many do so when you say something is "painfully unfunny" that's a bad argument imo unless its like Velma or smth
I don’t even know why I like it tbh, I just do. At the same time, I wish it was something better
I like Hazbin, but yeah, the writing is terrible.
You're a chad for recognising that and still liked it
13:00 In this lore Adam didn't invent sin as the whole story of garden of Eden was completely changed.
If it was handled like smiling friends - in the sense it focused on what the character's jobs are like it seems to want to do - then i think it would've been more consistant. That's all I wanted to say, good video.
