I regularly see patients who take zinc and vit c high dose daily who are in and out of my office every other week with prolonged colds that take weeks to resolve, if they ever resolve. So what's your point exactly?

    A study showed that we need to eat 6 oranges to get the same nutrients in one orange in 1950. Our need for vitamin C increases with stress and age. My doctor is an internist, diplomate in nutritional medicine and functional medicine and she put me on 4,000mg of vitamin C per day. I saw a huge difference in how I feel in taking this amount: my sinusitis totally disappeared, I sleep better and the pain at the back of my knee when I go down and up the stairs is gone.

    It depends the dosage. You have to weigh in diff factors, like flu season, stress, illness, wounds (burns, insect bites, hives, allergic reactions), detox of excess heavy metals, pulls calcium out of calcium plaques in arteries, for synthesis/maintenance of collagen , reduces CRP (marker of inflammation), neutralises free radicals, in higher doses, kills viruses!!
    If you’re suspicious about artificial sources of vit c, take natural fruit-based supplements or Amla!

    • @milycome
      @milycome 2 года назад +2

      With some individuals that are prone to develop kidney stones this could be a problem, for the majority of others shouldn't be a problem. I've taken what is considered mega-doses of Vitamin C daily for decades, four to five times a day evenly spread out during the day. Humans have lost the ability to produce their own Vitamin C from simple glucose millions of years ago due to a genetic defect. Most mammals (of which humans are an example) have Not lost the ability to produce Vitamin C from simple glucose. These mammals that are able to produce their own Vitamin C produce it at a rate the equivalent (adjusted for weight) for a human producing 8,000 to 10,000 milligrams/day, which is about what I take daily (four to five times daily evenly spread out due to it being water soluble and Not stored in the body). My goal is Not to prevent Vitamin C deficiency (Scurvy). My goal is to achieve OPTIMAL dose of Vitamin C for health. For an individual that is prone to develop kidney stones (of the oxalate type of kidney stones) taking mega-dose Vitamin C may well indeed be a problem. For patients prone to develop kidney stones a possible solution for the prevention of kidney stones look into (you'll have to do the research or visit a Nutritionally orientated MD), generous doses of Vitamin B-6 and Magnesium Citrate. Also, to prevent stone formation drink plenty of water (perhaps mixing in 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar). Recommendation : Google the following - "Vitamin B-6 and Magnesium for kidney stones" and click to search 🔎🔎. Read the information and then scroll down 👇 for more information on this matter. Good luck.

    Most supplements don't contain vitamin c, they contain ascorbic acid. ascorbic acid is just one part of many that make up the phytonutrient that is vitamin c. Saying ascorbic acid is the exact same thing as vitamin c is like saying hydrogen is the exact same thing as water, because water contains hydrogen. 500mg is not excessive, you need around 3000mg to see negative side effects... but that's only when you're healthy, if you're unwell with a disease or a cold/flu you can consume upwards of 20,000mg a day and not experience any negative side effects because it's being metabolised and mobilised by the body 100%, to help you get back to good health.

    It applies to normal person in a very stable condition & environment- no stress, no medication, no illness, no smoking, no pregnant & no pollution.
    It is NOT actual needs of each individual persons.
    Out there in market, mostly Vitamin C are synthetic not natural. Also not time release. Have Colouring, Flavouring, Preservative & Filler. It DO NOT absorb well into our body, maybe 50 to 60% only!
    Getting daily Vitamin C from our food is not easy as it needs to be very fresh & raw.

    i think if you can get it from real food,example fruit that high in vitamin c like guava,orange,lemon,longan etc, i more prefer it,but if it really like need medicine for cough,flu that already happend 2-3 days i guess consume it is good tho,
    i'm prefer vitamin that still on the food rather supplement
    but someone that really need supplement for their illness,well i cannot judge it,
    especially on skincare product vitamin c it is good,especially for anti aging and clearing the skin,etc

    This video is good for an introduction to vitamin according to mainstream media. The real hype about Vitamin C was in the 1950s and 1960s because of the research by 2 time noble prized Dr. Linus Pauling. Of course the pharmaceutical industry fought real hard back and resulted in Vitamin C just been know to everyone as a basic form of supplementation. The RDA of 110mg for adult male is a joke. "If you consume x amount and you can absorb x amount" is a joke too. The clinical study that measured vitamin C satuation only measure 3 types of white blood cells. What about the rest of the millions types of cells and tissues where vitamin c is ultilised? Everyone has different conditions you may or may not know about and therefore you need various amount that helps your condition. Our body will tell you how much it needs through bowel tolerence. To date, no amount of vitamins or vitC had cause any death in humans. Many drugs did. I personally take 20,000 mg or more spread over multiple times in the day and no bowel issues because i have multiple issues to fix in my body. Constantly satuating my body with vitamin c ensure it has what it needs to do its job. Animals produces 4,000 to 20,000mg of vitamin c in their body daily depending on their conditions. We humans, and guinea pigs and some other life cannot produce vitamin c and we are the only one that develops atherosclerosis and have heart attacks. Bears has multiple times the amount of cholestrol vs humans in the body yet, like other animals that can produce their own vitamin c in their body, none ever have heart attacks. Not sufficient vitamin c inhibits collagen production -> unable to sufficiently repair arteries -> LDL (LP(a) ) sticky cholestrol to glue the vulnerable areas of the artery. There is a book about this and more on issuu.com/drrath/docs/drhp-why-animals-dont-get-heart-attacks-en

    All the dosages recommended in this video are just minimum effective doses for preventing scurvy. For colds, flus and other infections, you need to take 2000-5000 mg a day in divided doses so you don’t end up with diarrhea.
