I repaired a laptop myself, I plugged in charger and checked where is the heat. I felt a sharp sting in my hand, it was a little capacitor that would instantly heat when plugged in. I removed it and magically my laptop booted on and worked.

thank for educating us but you should have showed us the reading of the damaged capacitor because we might not have thermal camera to dectect that, i just want to know if the capacitor was reading zero ohms when you switch meter to continuity
May I ask (generally): The surface mount capacitors, how do you tell which way to put them on the board? Im sure they are polarity dependent like electrolytic capacitors? Awesome video once again! 😀😀
I would never suspect a shorted cap that measure 40ohm it would be intresting to see the reading on both the motherboard and the cap itself after it was removed
I have a question for you if you don't mind but I own 2 hp elitedesk 800 G2 mini computers One works %100 the other works but as soon as I plug in a usb hard drive the computer becomes unresponsive I have tested 4 drives and it's the same also the display port does not work but the hdmi does and the ethernet randomly not connecting to the internet reboot the pc and it's all ok again in thinking it's the main board or am I missing something
Thanks Sorin, i learned a new one more...thanks very much for sharing... if i can i'll help you bayng the discord private channel asap... but is hard going on.. with your teaching i succed in more complex repairs... amazing your passion that i have me to... bye Francesco Timpano from Florence Italy
Time has shown that these SMD capacitors are garbage and have a high failure rate... That's sad :( Makes you wonder, how many devices have made their way to a landfill because of a failed 1 cent capacitor. Oh, the horror!
With most faults being with MOSFETs, power management chips and.caps. why isn't there any efforts in making these devices larger to handle more power rating and reliability. Usb D will probably be same fragile piece of poop.
Sir my Lenovo legion 5 2021 with r7 5800h RTX 3060 after updating the drivers the screen turns black and it show RTX 3060 not detected plz give me a solution it’s like 1000 dollars into water plz help me out
i would like a penny for every capacitor that i have had to replace over the years to fix a strange fault. Thousands of innocent i/c's must have been replaced before the faulty capacitor is found.
I smile ear to ear every time I hear "We have Picture" "Dats crazy!" That was a nice repair. Be well.

Sorin The chip produces 3 voltages that are needed to power DDR4 - 1.2V and 0.6V and 2.5V
that's why it's not producing an image but still charge the battery
a yes, the 2.5V was for ddr4 ram, it is double the 1.25V.
@@orange11squares but ddr4 is 1.2V

He is great
This dodgy cap was consuming all the current that chip could provide on that rail that's why the voltage was very low there. Sorin's way is great man.
Wise man like Sorin never fail to impress us with something new every day Thank you Sorin for sharing with us we have nothing to give back to you

Those thermal cameras are amazing
You're very informative when you speak. Love all your videos!
The battery was not charging, or probably was so low because the short depleted it so it was taking the recovery charge with very little current.
Sorin that’s a nice quick fix thanks for sharing 😊
Every laptop is nice laptop to for you to repair Sorin. 😄
Wow Sorin, I think those components are communicating with you😅😅
You didn't put another capacitor?
you can't have a shorted capacitor if there's no capacitor😄
Nice proper motherboard...💪💪💪
Thank you very much, Good job.
Say thanks to the thermal camerao
First like and almost first comment, since I already know this video contains the essence of the resolution of the issue... Knowledge!
Thank You very much for Your channel!
So did you put a new capacitor or you just leave it like that? Thanks for the video!
If you think this as the thevenins theorem , the heat will be produced by the lower resistance part in parallel
nice repair. sir, can you make a video about those power chip, explaining the in-put and out-put , and when we can inject power inside, ...
Dead Capacitor = Nice Pizza!

Good job mate
Well done 👏

Ceramic caps do not have a polarity.
Brilliant, I'm back onto the right learning track.
How can you be so sure?
Components and their characteristics, still learning.
No capacitor, no shorted capacitor.. might have been a good idea to replace it though.
How did you find the place to inject voltage?
I have not seem that you have not replaced the capacitor, will the PC now be working without the capacitor??
I would never suspect a shorted cap that measure 40ohm it would be intresting to see the reading on both the motherboard and the cap itself after it was removed
As long as you don't start saying "say hello to the bad guy", then all is right with the world.
sorin again lucky customer 😄
8:32 "let's do something stupid" xD
"Can't use my little friend while camera is rolling".
"Oh capacitor did vanish while camera recording cut for unknown reasons".
does not replacing the capacitor have no impact on the chip ?
No
It depends.
When there is enough capacitance around, it's gonna be fine.
What is the brand of thermal camera?
Say hello to my little friend 😀😀😀

BiG LiKe Nice repair👍👍👍❤

:( Sorin seems that the obs beeper filter is not working :(
Anyone know what liquid rosin sorin uses?
The audio quality is poor
But the rest is fine 😊

Why still 30mA after removing dodgy cap? It is supposed to be 10-20mA
Nice! 😎
Well, this job could've taken a lot more time of you hadn't the thermal camera.

Super=)
Not charge batery 140mA !!!
The battery is probably already nearly fully charged.
Every year, thousands of laptops die from dodgy capacitors.
A few cents part that have contributed immensely to trashing our planet...
👏👏👏👏
You don't repair mobile phones anymore?
Why the ram memory so expensive
Because older RAM is no longer made. So getting it new with zero supply is much harder.
i would like a penny for every capacitor that i have had to replace over the years

👍👍👍👍
i really hope you are romanian.
👌👌👌👌
Battery doesn't charge!! (140 mV)
Laptop came for not powering on. Not powering on is fixed. Fixing stuff customer didn't even ask you to fix is best way to make life hard for you.

This time i am first😊
😂 bad thingy
Incredible! Let's be friends :)
over a year not use plier
