The 'no fix' videos are much more engaging to watch. Whenever I see Sorin stumped, it grabs my attention because he's usually like a terminator - unstoppable and methodical. Seeing him struggle makes me sit up and pay even closer attention.
Sorin, struggle more please people like us contents like these . Lol.
Well, I have *_strong_* feelings about someone being able to repair something I couldn't. No wait, it's about me being unable to repair something another could :D
Sorin, since the caps lock turns on. Then it means the laptop is definitely working. some devices wont display on an hdmi output if it is on the bios menu. Hdmi output only works on Windows. Sometimes only when the graphics driver is installed on the windows OS. You can try disconecting the lvds cable or install an ssd with a windows OS. Then try the hdmi output again
Yep, can be, but that also means screen is faulty.
Looks like someone dumped a bag of faulty parts and assembled this laptop.(Shop?)
@@nikspanakis yes it can be the screen. Or maybe the display circuit is not right. Like the 3.3v or 5v line for the screen or lvds is missing.
Good job Sorin, always informative. Just no “fixed it buzz”.
I received a laptop from a customer that Sorin couldn't repair. It ended up being the negative reality inverter.
The switch for the video signals can be faulty, too. The 3USB chip. I had a broken one. Not shorted but open signals. Exchange was successful.
Happened to me 2 weeks ago... HP laptop i7+ nvidia... the shop replaced the screen... and the integrated GPU died. Lost 2 hours for nothing.
As someone else says, why did you disregard the screen problem? Sometimes hdmi output not functional until windows joins the party, right?
you are very kind wizard...
Wonderful job as always. You have surgeon hands. I would have tested with some compatible screen just to make sure. But, yeah, the repair job would end up being really expensive.
The RUclips Tech owes you a Pizza for your effort.
Congrats for the 400k subs!
Sorin... special humor sometimes. 😂
Everyone has a specific amount of knowledge and practise. Just normal. It's even honorable to understand if the own level is not high enough and send the defective item to somebody else for the hope of repair.
I can never hold it against anyone if they refuse to attempt a repair where they know they might make things worse that someone else could fix and this job sounds like one where that's true
Thanks for uploading this video mr Sorin

You're the best as always. Greetings.
Tomorrow we will make up for this with 3 proper nice pizza.
Is it possible that the laptop won't work without a functioning battery? I thought you might try to revive the battery with the battery analyzer at some point.
Yes! I bought my pd3.1 charger brick, because i was not able to power the dell boards
I think you may be right. Seems odd that the battery is locked.
Wait aren't laptops supposed to work even without battery
No I don't think so as I have been using acer laptops since 2006 and used different laptop but everyone works without the battery even my current acer laptop also
Обычно Сорин предлагает отключить видеочип - это не долго. И посмотреть будет ли картинка…
Sorin the people on the form commented on the EC firmware with "no display", so maybe you need a good firmware ?
I saw those comments also, but couldn't figure if he downloaded that one or another that was supposed to work :-?
Hello Sorin. You can make an ldo with current limiting or in case of too much current goes to cero. Remember you must modify your power previus supply to remove such protection.
14:52 you can always consider applying heat from underside, works for these pesky LCD connectors on flex cables.
Ahm just asking what about if you disconnect the screen then trying the hdmi?
Ok that is fair but who is the other youtuber who couldn't fix it and why didn't he go this far already?
Thank you Sorin very apprecited effort anyway , maybe some other tricks can be done like isolating the gpu like before or trying the hdmi without the screen connector on , or if you get some other time later to finish the job and probably trying another firmware because it sometimes does work if you just leave the things that went bad for another time.
Your legendary in repairing circuits ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hi Sorin thanks for the video, KB9022Q often short! I replace them regularly on MSI and Asus laptop. On Asus laptop it would be easy pizza because no need to program, just empty ENE it will auto program.
Did you check 3V3 on screen connector? Also was there backlight?
no point doing that. external monitor isnt working either
@@SirasPK you are right. But the HDMI port does not need power to output video? Only graphics signal?
Must turn on with the HDMI connected, keyboard and with a windows SSD. The bios will detect the second screen. Don't know if you disconnect the lvds cable could help.
Sorin , Years ago I've had a similar problem on an ATX (pc, not laptop) MOBO: NOT brain-dead (swapped CPUs, RAM, GPU, etc. to check), like at the end of the video (after the EC chip repair), but no display, no boot, no BIOS = BOOT-loop.
The MOBO i had would NOT boot into bios with a dead BIOS battery, for some god-forsaken reason (pc= plugged into the wall). I "solved" that mystery when i said "F-if!" and put the meter on literarily everything, until i found 0.01V on Bios Battery
Could It be the same case here?
Love your videos Sorin :)
Sorin if you put a new bios batery in i have seen some one do that and the picture came on as well try it ?maybee ?
IMO three things could be faulty the bios firmware, faulty ssd/ windows not installed or faulty screen, you did try programming the bios but sometimes the clip does not work properly and if the bios firmware is good and windows is installed there must be picture on the hdmi output otherwise some laptops won't display the bios screen on the hdmi output i mean you were close enough to fix the fault
Problem with Laptops is that if you could swap another M/B, then it be great but its the Windows key that stops this without also doing a full migration across ect which can take hours but it would save the LT if original board is too badly damaged. IF MS never had all this original 1 computer per key thing, then repair or replace would be so much better for customer. You might have lots of free boards from LT's with other things broken on them but M/B ok to use or even a small repair to get it good again.
are we sure the chip is programmed with right one? i mean yes the laptop starts but nothing else is working. i could be wrong just a guess
Disconnect the LCD cable from the mbo, and then . try via HDMI cable. Also try with another clean Bios extracted from exe file
Proper Calibrated Repair😎😹
Actually even if the board is working properly the display will not come by hdmi as acer dose not display bios on hdmi . So I would like to suggest to put the nvme disk and then put the HDMI cable
classic somebody tried to clean the laptop with battery plugged-in. realtek codec and screen are dead, maybe gpu too (that's why no hdmi picture).
Best thing for the laptop skip, but take out the board first
very good
You are always the best
I have an asus with same fault shorted 3.3v ldo dead ec chip and shorted pch lol and yes the ldo chip gets hot when you plug the power
Id send it to Sorin 😂
If you cant fix it most of us would have no hope
Probably screen and nvme faulty and goes to Bios not displaying on hdmi, try your nvme that has windows and hdmi
sometimes it's really hard to do a repair that was coming from another tech.. just sayin' 😊✌️
Nvm, good moments is more, bad moment like short, keep it short.
There is not even backlight? Strange.
Some bosses don't let you play around, are we less professional, no, it's simply the internal politics from the company and you will get fired if you don't do what they want, because everyone is replaceable to fit their requirements.
can you one time tell us what a EC and BC chip is? I hear you mention EC and BC all the time and I got no idea what it is
The EC chip is the embedded controller. It controls the keyboard, switching on and off the whole computer, temperature measurements, control the fan speed, the LEDs and the standby.
The BC chip is the battery charging IC. Usually a BQ... from Texas Instruments.
The GPU is faulty for sure.
A Lesson here amoungst others, don't ever buy a "gaming" laptop, if you want to play games get a proper pc.
What happened to the previous video and comments?
In the first video the name of youtuber wasn't blurred fully
@@eimantastolis204 who was the youtuber?
The problem is gpu, I've been found this one thing also capslock turn on when i press it
Mai frate, da cum arata laptopul ala, parca l-ar folosi cu picioarele.........incredibil.......
there is BIOS battery under laptop battery.
👌👌👍👍
păcat ca na-ti reușit sorin.....
Hate. It's a terrible thing. I get a lot and it's hard not to throw it back. Let's play a game. Electronics Jenga. Here are the rules. Working laptop. Each player removes one component until laptop won't post. Caps can't be removed. Must be resistor IC diode. You can't replace the same type as previous players turn. Enjoy. Let's 🎉 party.
The igu is dead or half ded i guess
🥲
loool,it looks like if no easy pizza then no pizza at all.
Why you didn't desoldered VRAM/ dGPU's coil/ mosfet to try starting with iGPU?
Why you haven't inspected LVDS connector inside given that someone was there earlier?
Why you didn't downloaded bios update package from ASUS website to dissect precise and proper BIOS and EC firmware?
Why you havent' did post-fix thermal inspection seeing that laptop draws up to 3A while "doing nothing" (no disk means no OS so uefi setup at most)?
Why you didn't inspected keyboard fpc and respective connector? Keyboards aren't breaking by themselves, either liquid damage or open flame disables them so no power button is really dodgy.
