- I've had an intermittent Service Trailer Brake System warning for years. Lately it was almost constant. I unplugged the dash control switch to keep it from annoying me until I could replace the trailer brake control module. Its located under the spare tire and is pretty easy to access and replace. Here is a quick video of the process. Replacing the module fixed my issue but there are other system problems that can cause the same warning. So far mine works as it should.
What code was it giving
@@BeauBrooks-w4r no codes. Just intermittently giving the service trailer brake system messsge. Changing the control module seemed to have worked for a while but it just started doing it again.
You're fast!
@@jreedsac1 It’s gotta go, customer’s in the office
👍👍👍🏻
Did it come up every time you pressed the brakes?
@@chino7665 sometimes with the brake but pretty much just random
What a pain.🍺
I hate that spare tire operation.
@@scottraper9574 it’s not too bad as long as everything cooperates
I have a 2011 2500 HD diesel. It displayed the same message. I changed the module and it lasted a while. It Did it again years later was almost every time I started it. Had some mechanical work done and it hasn’t done it since. And I didn’t replace it.
@@robertlambert5299 I’ve read several things can cause it. Corrosion in the plug, defective harness, module, control switch..etc. we will see if it lasts
@@StoutCustom next time mine happens. I will look at the plug closely.
I had one do it and a wire was burnt inside the plug
