Stout Custom
Добавлен 12 мар 2013
Born into a paint and body family many moons ago. Escaped for a brief period to become a helicopter mechanic/beer drinker in the United States Army. Eventually drawn back into the game by shiny paint jobs and beer money. Definitely a DIY guy since I have the knowledge and skill but no dinero. Just trying to share some of what I do to help others and also because my daughter laughed when I said I was going to start a RUclips channel.
Hope you folks enjoy this channel and will subscribe to see what happens next.
Thank you.

Cover your pipes?
They were wrapped and covered. Usually doesn’t stay that cold for long here.
Covers don't help when it's below freezing for over 20 hours. Lots in the southern part of the US had this happen.
My home is all Pex-A I don't have to worry about my pipe busting when frozen. But I also drip all the spickets and faucets.
@@rcrepps3949 yeah I wasn’t here for most of the cold weather to keep an eye on things. Probably spend some time this summer redoing the spigots so I don’t have to worry about them freezing any more. The guy I bought this place from has pipe and spigots everywhere. 9 that still work and several more that don’t. Pipes are only about 4” underground too. They don’t freeze in the ground but just driving the tractor around causes them to crack. It’s a work in progress, lol.
sounds nice.

@@stevencoughran6115 yes but it tends to leave smear marks on the surface so you have to be careful. It is also more aggressive than wax and grease so it may smear or remove non catalyzed products such as aerosol primer or paint.

@@user-ds9zd8eq6u yes. There are two small welds on each side at the back of each bedside. That’s it
Ok,how long?
@@user-ds9zd8eq6u 1/4” if that. They are located where the bedside meets the rear cross piece. Open the tailgate and look down in the corner. Close to where the bedside and rear cross piece are bolted together.

which hand sander do you recommend? im currently trying to sand a hd bumper for a 2012 silverado nd its all steel like this one
@@hectorv861 really any 6” DA sander. I’ve had Dynabrades that are still in use after 20+years. Dewalt has a 6” pneumatic da palm sander for about $100 that will get the job done. I haven’t used the harbor freight stuff but will probably work too
Evercoat rage extra for the wipe?
No. It was just regular Rage Ultra I think. The extra probably would have been a better option for such a large area though. Thanks for watching!

Is it even below the frost line?
@ this is Florida so there is no real frost line. However it is definitely not deep enough. The problems arise from damage by simply driving over the buried pipe. Should have been deeper

1:25 EPIC! A 5 gallon bucket mounted vise!.. love it😅😅
lol. Had just bought it and didn’t have time to mount it to a stand. Definitely put some toes in danger with that heavy thing on a bucket.
Thank you for this. Think i’m having the same issues Primer sucked in, cuts on fuel at 3/4. But not a full tank. This video is 3 years old. Did you have to replace the tank ?
@@walsh9354 I never replaced the tank. I kept the machine for about a year and as I ran more fuel through it it got better about not cutting off but would still do it occasionally. I was told it had algae in the fuel from sitting prior to me having it and I should have put an algaecide in the fuel to kill it.

I am so glad you now have the truck that helps to move into the “Feel Good” category. I hear you talk about a few small things yet to fix, but 97% of the truck is done. God bless, Jim! Thank you kindly for sharing your journey! It gives me inspiration to finish my 67 as this last Dr. and hopefully the last thing to get me up and going, a lumbar pain pump. Very nice truck. 😅
@@deankay4434 Dean! Good to hear from you bud! I haven’t really been posting for a while but the truck went from “feel good” to “felt good” as I finished it and sold it, lol. Hope to get another project before long and get back to some vids but working on building a shop now. Good luck on your 67 as I’m sure you’re ready to get rolling on it. Keep in touch and we’ll talk to ya soon
The baffle is connected to air hose that leads to the air filter housing. it is for drawing in cool air in front of the radiator while being hidden behind the grill.

“Regripped” lol.
Not too often you see and an Alfa on a chief 😂
Hope I don’t see another, lol.
At 5:57 of the video with the vertical seam, why wouldn't/or couldn't weld that and smooth it out? I generally don't know, not trying to be smart. Then you don't have a seem, clean look, and no need for seam sealer due to being one piece.
@@MichaelGravley-q4x it could be welded if you wanted to. User preference I suppose. Sometimes trying to weld these seams up creates issues because most of the time the two panels don’t line up surface to surface. So if it’s welded together one side may sit higher or lower than the other. Then more welding, cutting, filling has to take place to make it look right. Seam sealer gives you a little room for error as far as the panels not lining up perfectly and if done well looks like a nice smooth factory joint. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
Getting it done.👍

I added belt dressing now it makes sticky noise at start up, should I replace belt and tensioner?
What made you use seam sealer vs welding over the seams? Tks
@@MisterAdam-jj5jv the roof panel and the cab panel do not line up very well on these trucks. One usually sticks out further than the other. If you weld them up you end up with a wavy looking mess and a ton of filler to try to make it look right or a lot of cutting and welding. It looks better to me to make a nice clean seam sealer line and treat the panels individually with small amounts of filler to get them straight. So straight factory panels with a clean seam seal line between rather than welded together overworked warped metal with lots of filler to try to make them flow together and try to look like it belongs that way, lol. Thanks for watching!
Turnout very nice
