@@michaelangst6078 For a product with massive depreciation and planned obsolescence it sure is a lot. It's especially true considering you can play the same games with a ~$100 gpu. It's got nothing to do with people not wanting to make something of themselves or not. I could buy 100 of them, but it's an incredibly foolish way to spend money.

No decent video card for money that I was able to save in a year. We have it tough in underdeveloped countries where prices for a one card is multiple times month salary and prices are fixed for US standards. And I can't even imagine how it's in Africa and India.

imo save money for rtx 50x0. that thing will be a beast that will play 4k/100+ fps. they release a new line every 2 years, so 50x0 = 2024. you have plenty of time to save money

Same boat. Bought my 2080s for $650 months before the 30 series launch. Was reallllllly kicking myself for that at the time. Although I'm very grateful for it now.

I'm on line at my local Microcenter right now and one dude on line literally said he was here just to sell it on ebay😂 I was 3rd on line so I was able to get a voucher so my 3080ti is secured. There's probably around 60 people behind me and they only gave out 23 vouchers. Everyone else is here just hoping to get lucky. Got the cash from selling my 6800xt on ebay last week and made a nice profit lol. Decided to make the switch after playing on my roommates PC all the time who has a 3080. The raytracing performance is just so much better and DLSS is dope.

For real. Good games have been few and far between if you don't play literally every genre. So many issues with early access becoming abandonware or asset flips. And then this shit happens, and has stuck around for so long. I'm on a 10 year old build, and have zero interest in upgrading at this point. I can play everything I have great, and nothing new has ended up being worth a damn for me. The one game I was excited for was Dual Universe, and I was gonna upgrade for that, but it ended up being an subscription based MMO, so fuck that. I've been sticking to my Switch, and honestly enjoying it far more, and don't have to stress over all the PC garbage.
71% cost increase for ~10% performance increase. Insane.
Not everyone is looking to upgrade from a 20x or 30x card though, many of us are still back on 10x or 9x cards. For us this would be a good upgrade I imagine.

@@V_003 Yeah the prices are definitely a problem. It will calm down but not any time soon. Businesswise I can appreciate Nvidia's challenge though. I would imagine they are paying a premium to get chips made currently, the entire supply chain is overwhelmed, pay more to get closer to the head of the line. This translates to higher costs for the product. Then along come the miners and scalpers, who prove to nvidia that they can sell their product for 2x normal msrp levels and still clear the shelves, perhaps more. It's a sellers market right now, but at least msrp isn't $4k currently, it's still 'reasonable' by comparison to what people are actually paying.

One thing Linus pointed out was that since the 3080Ti has half the memory, they can pump out twice as many 3080Ti's as 3090's (according to Nvidia).

idunno... $1200 is a high price... but my current gtx 1080 was ~$600 and mostly keeps up with me 5 years later. That was the most expensive card I ever bought, but also the cheapest per-year cost I have ever spent on a card. If a $1200 card can actually keep up with my needs (something the 1080 came close to, but never quite did), and can last me 6-8 years instead of my traditional 2-4... well... that still kind of lines up with what I am accustomed to paying... just all up-front instead of every couple years.
Not saying that I don't want a $600 card that will happily last me 6-8 years - of course that would be better! But at the same time I am not opposed to spending a bit more up-front if it is going to last me a good long while... and with no more affordable options available then I would probably pay the $1200 if I get the opportunity to. But lets be real; none of us 'normal' people are going to even get the chance to spend $1200 on one of these cards. We will be waiting another 6-10 months for more general availability... at which point the next gen AMD cards might be out, and the next gen nVidia cards will be just a few months away.
Not sure what is more wild to think about. That my 1080 will be 6 years old before it gets replaced? Or that a current gen card or next gen card will likely keep up with my use-case for the whole life of the card... just how long can a GPU last anyway? I have a couple 10 year old machines that are still running 24/7, but I don't think I have anything near that old with a GPU in it. But I imagine at that point the upgrade will be like it was from my i7 to my i9... it is faster on paper, and it is faster on benchmarks, but for my workloads and games there was not much difference at all lol. We all have a limit on our compute demands... I think I am close to reaching mine hahahaha.

What version nvidia driver were you running on the 3080 ti? I couldn’t even get port royal to run on my card. Seems to be having issues with directx 12

Interesting to see this, some months later. Regarding high end versus regular cards, the cycle time from concept to output is probably 18 to 24 months, so switching output from high end to low end cards is not so simple. One cannot also simply repurpose a 3080 chip in to, say, a 3060, as the wafer yields are different, and the chip cost will tend to dominate the product cost. The good thing is that old cards hold their value now, which somewhat offsets the scalper prices. BTW, don't expect the.chip supply problem to be over in a few months. This will take literally a couple of years to get back to equilibrium.
What i really asked for was "Restock"
And they did a thousand times. How is this hard to understand. They restock daily. So you try to beat bots daily. You can't. So how do you do it? Well wait for a build up of cards and buy then. When does that occur? Only new card launched.

I wouldn't expect to see that until next year. I have a funny feeling NVidia may wait till AM5 is released, PCIe 5 is actually a really big deal and CXL will probably be the advent for bringing back SLI. Both NVidia and AMD are on the board for the open standard with Intel and its one of those game changers like theoretically throwing in another CPU through the PCIe bus, which although weird has some interesting applications especially for Photo and Video rendering. Its also baked into the PCIe5 standard at a hardware level, so its going to be impossible for them to just ignore it.
Funny thing is, intel's ceo announced that the shortages will last a couple more years

If you have less kudacores(don't know if this is the right spelling) in the cards does the chip noice ( that sounds it makes when electricity runs through when you switch from fan cooled to watercool) increase versus if they had more kudacores? Or is it the same?

I have GTX 970 G1 GAMING now since November 2014. It still runs max settings 1440p 30+ fps evrything. But will RTX 3070 TI be able to run all games at max settings 1440p and max ray tracing 60 fps for a long time or only rtx 3080 ti will last longer? My pc currently is

Jay, i have this exact card with a top end pc, and it wont stop hard shutting down during any game activities after 20 minutes.
I've heard that i need too undervolt the card, do you think there's a fix on the way from EVGA????? or drivers??? these crashes are happening too a lot of the cards.

You can't sell the 499 extra you got so you could get the better deal on your own personal car, unless you're a a dealership with a license to conduct said business, but at that point you're not a consumer you're a business...

How much actually does it help if you have a weak GPU to push resolutions below 1080?
I remember how excited everyone was (including myself) when the 3080 launched, yet this turned out to be one of the most frustrating generations in a long time. This "3080 ti" at 1200$ msrp (good luck with that) is just the icing on the frustration cake.
Screw this.
Heck it all, make the miners pay out the ass for the cards they'll get anyway. This just cuts margin out of the scalpers. I'm fine with it.

They cant shave down already printed wafers. They can disable SMs but that's not a good idea because of the yield overhead that comes along with printing larger chips. Intel is starting a foundry business, hopefully we will see better supply in the near future.

Fwiw though the card in question is a Sapphire Nitro+ SE 6800XT. If I do Gauss weaponry glowy green on the RGB it would be very Necron tbh but for now I have that, fans, AiO and mobo in a cool bluish white and it looks great with a 4000D Airflow case.

I was able to get a 3080ti and I built my first computer this year! I never owned my own computer. My dad has an old computer that I could never use to play games in. I'm talking about those boxed computers haha. I've always owned laptops and I would game in them but not even for gaming either. I saved, I built, and waited. I was brave enough to build my computer this year! its insane how things are really. I feel bad for everyone who is stuck or who's been like in my situation. I hear people complaining about how expensive the TI is. Makes sense but it depends on the situation too. That's something not everyone thinks about. Most of the time we buy for the wants. I saved and I been longing to get the best with what I can afford. I'm not saying its okay that the Ti is expensive and should just buy it. My view on my specific situation, I am a first time computer builder AND computer owner saved up to get something like this. If I don't want to spend more in the next few years I'm going to get the best to what I can afford currently. I plan to keep my computer for many years and I want to enjoy the absolute best. Maybe its a waste of money in your opinion, I would agree for those who already own computers and are just looking to upgrade. For me I saw it as an opportunity especially with how the economy is inflating we don't know what's in hold for our futures. It is understandable to be upset though, I'm just sharing how fortunate I am to even have my best first computer being built at the most horrible time ever. It's ironic really you might even feel sorry for me or hopefully agree with my excitement. I was upset when they released the 30 series after getting my 2070 Super 6 months before. Now, I dont think I have ever been happier with the price gouging BS thats going on with these cards.
Been having a 2060 super in 2020 for $450 and I looked it up not too long ago the price for my same card was $1,400, ridiculous…

Ya know, the thing with me is I am in love with the Founders Edition feature set, the cooling system, the whole style of the card or brick, as I love to say. I do realize that EVGA puts out a kick-ass product that is hard to dismiss. The however of it all is in my dreams I see that 'Brick', the Founders Edition, in my system. The Founders Edition just tops off my rig as I see it in my mind's eye, I want it. It could be a 3070 or a 'ti' but no more than $800.00 total. I don't have a lot of money, I can't see myself spending more than that on a video card. In the end, I have to live with myself and I would feel foolish if I spent more than that, it's just not me.

I’d love to see some budget builds, with second hand parts and then showing us just how far you can push some of these older parts, liquid metal instead of thermal paste, better pads, custom bios, maybe home made coolers, something that might be considered “janky” but improved performance, maybe show people that they don’t have to be trying to jump on the latest over priced and out of stock gear.

I have GTX 970 G1 GAMING now since November 2014. It still runs max settings 1440p 30+ fps evrything. But will RTX 3070 TI be able to run all games at max settings 1440p and max ray tracing 60 fps for a long time or only rtx 3080 ti will last longer? My pc currently is

Almost a year later and we finally have GPU's available at MSRP or even less this weekend with holiday sales. I really didn't get my answer though from the video. Which card do I NEED for VR in DCS? I saw a VR review that showed virtually no change in DCS from the 2080ti and 3080. He said DCS is mostly CPU bound so maybe I only need a 3070 or 3070ti?

The cards we receive can’t be sold. They are from the final test run before retail production. They are almost all blemished and carry no actual warranty or serial number etc. I assume you didn’t know how manufacturing works or you wouldn’t have made the stupid comment requiring me to correct you

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't manufacturing one 3080ti just mean that there's one less non ti 3080? That would mean that there's no actual increase in production numbers, but rather a shift in what's actually being manufactured. In this case they swapped out a lower value card for one that sells for more. I could be wrong though.
That’s not how it works. Chips typically printed on 8 or 12 inches silicon wafers. Nvidia is a fabless semiconductor company so they rent chip fabrication capacity from one of 3 or 4 mega foundries. Those are contracts that are negotiated years in advance and are negotiated in terms of number of wafers per month. Now a wafer is a round disc on to which multiple rectangular dies are printed. Higher end GPUs have more cores so they take up more space so typically on a wafer you might get 20 good 3080ti die or 100 good 3060 die depending on their relative size and how many rectangular dies you can fit on a circular wafer (bigger die waist more space on the wafer). Now when nvidia makes one 3080ti chip it mean that 4 or 5 3060 chips might not be made depending on the yield per wafer they get for each type of GPU they make.
I'm 99% sure ZERO 30-series FE cards have made it to Norway, except for maybe one or two review units.
The RTX3060 was for sale on Komplett.no for about 4 hours, they had about 50+ in stock suddenly one day. I was lucky and got a RTX3060 before all was sold out at same price as I sold my 3 year old GTX1080ti . It has tiny bit less performance in games, considerably faster doing video encoding and uses half as much electricity. (need to save power as I am going offgrid solar power in a van).

jay i need your help!!!! i have the evga 3080ti and for some reason im getting extremely low fps on some games.. so far since i finished building my pc a few days ago first thing i did was install cs go and tested on that i was very happy to see over 400fps on max settings running great besides some slight tearing which im also seeing in normal RUclips videos for some reason.... but that's bedsides the point rn after getting on cs go and seeing the great fps i decided to get on a little more demanding game dayz and see how it ran there i got on and instantly was seeing 30-40fps max... :( rip i after messing around with the setting for a wile i realized v sync was on so i turned that on and instantly went up to about 200fps avg on max settings wish was good so i try gears 5 and its absolutely unplayable I'm getting 5 fps cant figure out any settings to switch the get it to help at all v sync isn't on so that's not it i tried tarkov also and i am having the same exact issue as with gears 5 messed with all settings and still nothing this is really weird to me I really need your help man just spent over $2000 USD to get this dumb card and cant even play most good games weirdest part to me is how its running 2 of 4 games almost perfectly minus some tearing but the other it cant run at all if u have any ideas it would be much appreciated if u could help me out
I've been needing to upgrade my production work PC for over a year now. I waited for the new product releases last year which ultimately bit me. What a crazy situation we're in between the silicon shortage, the pandemic, crytpo mining and of course those bastard scalpers..

side not.. I'm using a acer predator 240hz monitor and for some reason im only show 1 hhz in my display settings and i am not able to change it when to where u change the setting i only show the option for 64hz and none else but still says running at 1hz when i unplug the monitor from my new build and plug into my old prebuilt laptop it works just fine i go to same spot it shows running at the stock 60hz and i am able to choose anywhere from 60hz to 240hz setting no problem this is a serious issue i cant find any help anywhere on any of this stuff your my last hope man i know u can help me please!!!!!!! SOS!!!!
