    I was a porn addict for many years and went through the long cycle of the sin that saying I wont do it again but than falling back into it. In in a way its a identity crises I started to more and more see myself as the porn addict until God had to show me, that is not who I am that Christ died for this and won the victory over it. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus no matter what I feel or how hard the temptation presses in we need to see ourselves as God sees us and than we can truly say Romans 8:37 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us

    For me, sadly, it's been closer to a 30-year battle. My wife was raised in Japan where it's "normal" for the boy to look at pornography, so she literally couldn't care less, which makes my struggle more profound because she is not effected at all, so I definitely cannot relate to this couple at all. I fear my failure to gain victory is indicative of my lack of true love for Jesus. I pray that my journey into Orthodoxy will give me a firmer foundation to build on my love for my savior who loves mankind. To love Jesus truly, in such a way that my wicked carnal desire to watch pornography steadily disappears as I grow closer in communion with my savior! Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, the sinner!!

    Brokenness rather than perfection, starting groups, transparency finding connections sounds like real church. I'm very proud of this Pastor. Suffering in silence is total death and only leads to the brokenness of the church.

    He sought and found freedom not when she had the mindset that she was staying and dealing with it yet again, but when she had decided no more. Some addicts turn when the "no more" is presented. Some do not. Not all addicts will turn when the "no more" is presented. But it is in the "no more" that the heart is revealed. It is against God's Word to allow a pastor to remain in leadership with a sexual sin addiction. That's clear. Just because all this turned out okay does not mean this is the way for elders to handle this. This church's decision just stole years away from this man, this woman, and and this marriage. Thankfully, though, Jesus makes up from lost time.❤

    accountablility is the most important part of pron recovery! confession starts the healing

  • @stevenboyd593
    @stevenboyd593 4 года назад +6

    Addictive behavior is a huge, very longstanding thing in humanity, our society and by extension the church, it has been to our great detriment to not address these issues ...especially as the Body of Christ, we fail to do so to our great peril ...as you said in this conversation... as a group to address with forgiveness and grace is the only path to bring healing. Who better to be that vehicle of heath and healing than the Church, but if the Church can't or wont admit it's wrongs -as you said- how can healing happen. Recovery groups to focus on and deal with addictions must become the norm if sin and the evil it promotes are to be broken

  • @Kevbox2008
    @Kevbox2008 5 лет назад +15

    Again, identity precedes behavior. When you say you're "a sinner saved by grace", you'll struggle with sin. When you know you're a Son and walking in Power and Grace and your Father is The King who DESPERATELY loves you, you act out in like-kind. Know YOU'RE A SON!!!! Go be AMAZING!!

    BELIEVE LIKE A CHILD
    Is it perhaps your desire to enter the kingdom of heaven? Do you wish you had certainty about it? Here is what the Lord Jesus had to say about it:
    "Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein." Luke 18:17.
    What did Jesus mean by these words? Notice that Jesus said, "receive" the kingdom; He did not say "work for" or "earn" the kingdom. How then can we be sure to receive the kingdom of God as a little child and truly enter therein?
    To know what Jesus meant we have to understand how a little child receives, since this is what Jesus requires of anyone who wishes to enter the kingdom of God. Have you ever noticed how a little child receives things, let's say from his parents or grandparents? Think about it for a while. By observation we know that little children receive without any inclination that they ought to EARN or DESERVE what is given to them. It does not occur to them that they should first become worthy or deserving. It is clear that little children always receive in humility and without reservations.
    They display an absence of pride and self-sufficiency; they receive without works and without merit. They do not feel the need to prove that they deserve what is given to them. They do not measure their worthiness of the gift by their own goodness or lack of it. They do not think to bring the question of their own merits into the equation....they simply receive.
    This is the point that Jesus was making. He is saying that this is the way that we need to receive the greatest gift that anyone can ever receive -- the gift of God, which is eternal life in His kingdom.
    The reason we need to receive it as a little child is, try as we may, we can never earn or deserve it through our own merits, goodness or performance. Thinking that we can deserve it is deception and pride. God, the almighty Creator, is holy and righteous and cannot look upon any sin -- His standard is perfection. Even if we have failed only once to fulfill the smallest commandment in the law of God, we still fall short of that perfection. The Bible says that: "All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
    We have all failed to keep God's moral law, the 10 commandments perfectly; we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. We can never change our imperfection and make ourselves acceptable to God by trying to be good.
    Isaiah 64:6 says: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
    God is a holy and righteous judge and therefore has to punish sin. But He is also love and does not want to damn anyone to eternal punishment in hell. So He made salvation possible to anyone who would believe Him and be willing to receive it from Him as a gift. He, the Creator, chose to come down from heaven and to become flesh like us and to pay the penalty for all our sin. The penalty for our sin is death. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
    Now what does the Bible say about the love of God? John 3:16-18: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
    He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
    By wholeheartedly trusting in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins on the cross, and receiving the free gift of salvation and the forgiveness of sins by His grace, anyone, regardless of the magnitude of their sins, can have the forgiveness of all their sins and be born again by the Spirit of God, receiving from Him the gift of eternal life.
    Isn't it amazing that God was willing to take the punishment for our sin upon Himself? He is unlike anything that we will encounter in this dark world that has been marred by man's rebellion and Satan's subsequent evil dominion through sin.
    God created mankind with a free will to choose for themselves what they will and will not believe, and what they will and will not receive. He will never force His love or His gifts on anyone. He will never force anyone to have a relationship with Him. Yet He wants to become your Father.
    The only way that we can receive eternal life in the kingdom of God is to receive it from Him as a free gift. It is not available to us in any other way. We can never earn the things of God.
    The Bible makes it clear: "For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
    "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
    Romans 10:9-11,13
    "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
    For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
    For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
    Why don't you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead? Why don't you call on His name and be saved?
    Titus 3:4-7
    "But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
    Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
    Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
    That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
    Kindly share this message.

    The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.
    1 Timothy 3:1‭-‬7
