With this kind of terrain, now you understand how the Dutchman got lost, walking on foot with only a mule with him. A land of legends, really. Tremendous images, as always ! Always fun to visit Ghost Towns like Goldfield, very similar to Tombstone in the South of Arizona or Calico in Southern California. RICHARD
Reminds me of Knott's Berry Farm in California,! Can't believe what happened to Arizona since the late 40s!! Made a couple of oil paintings of the superstition Mt's! When living in Scottsdale Az. Can't believed what s .
when I was in Scottsdale Az., It had a population of about 12K. People! Went to a boarding school at Thunder Bird Academy. Thunder Bird Field #2 was an isolated world war 2 training base for pilots! Lots of rich and famous people made their winter homes between Phoenix ànd the superstition mountains!
@@GratefulOverlander , Jacob Waltz (dutchman) was living south of central phoenix when in 1891 at the age of 81, the salt river flooded his land (SW of 16th street and buckeye) and washed away his adobe house so he climbed a tree and was there for some time. This led to his declining health until he died later that year.
This is one of my bucket list spots. So many stories about supernatural stuff if one is into that. Many experienced hikers won't go in alone. I'd love to give it a shot.
Back in the late 70’s mid 80’s I lived in Tucson and we had a cabin on Mt. Lemmon and the drive up that mountain is something I’ll never forget. Left from 110’ desert and turned to just rock and little bit green until you are in what seems like you’re in the Rockies… Absolutely Beautiful !!!! and 70’ UNFORGETTABLE !!!

Just was there April 11-13. Love the park and hiking. Hiked Siphon draw. Challenging indeed. Did Canyon Lake, Tortilla Flats, Superstition Museum, Goldfields and more. Great adventure. Park was coming alive with bloom. Previous year before Fish Creek closure drove Apache Trail all the way. What an adventure. Thanks.
So beautiful 👍👍🤗😳🎶. We all certainly get your money's worth on these trips. Really liked the antique buildings. The bordello building was gorgeous. Thank you.
Yes, Lost Dutchman S.P. is a wonderful place to camp! We did for a couple days about a year and a half ago…AZ has some of the most beautiful and well-maintained state parks in the Country, and this one is no exception. Magnificent scenery, large and well-spaced campsites, water and electric available. (Not sure about sewer at any sites, like Picacho Peak has.). The sunsets there are just beautiful. Like the city to it’s west, Phoenix, it gets extremely hot for about five months of the year, so plan you vacation in the cooler months, late October through March. Goldfield Ghost Town was a cute change of pace, just opposite the state park, across the highway. Thanks for bringing me back (mentally and visually!) to one of our favorite vacations!
I was just at Goldfield town a couple weeks ago, Second time I have been there, the last time was back in 2009.. If you suffer from vertigo, get carsick, don't go into that mystery tour. They have the buildings built with the floors at different angles the roof at different angles when you're walking up a stairwell you're actually walking down. If you let go of the handrail you feel dizzy. I couldn't take it turned around and walked out back through the entrance instead of finishing it. Went on the train ride around the town spent way too much money to go down the mine and for that train ride.
I love these videos and commentary. Its like Russ is our tour guide, and you take us in to museums, shops, focal points, note great places to boondock and where not to. Please, don't ever stop RV'ing! (and if you need to take a break, er, brake, ... its understood the work you do with narrating, driving and editing it all. Bonus drone footage!)
What a super cool video! Enjoyed seeing the superstition mtns (they do look scary) and all the neat collection of articles from olden days. Thanks Russ. 😊
Cool trip! The museum looks very interesting but you passed right by the Peralta Stones, supposedly a secret stone map of the location of the Lost Dutchman Mine which has a cult like following!
I love it there. So great to relive it via RVerTv. I can't wait to go back. I have read that they supposedly found the location of The Lost Dutchmans Gold Mine, but that an earthquake knocked part of a mountain on to it. Not sure if its true. Thanks Russ for taking us along on your amazing journeys!
Russ, all your videos are really good. I like the fact that you stick to the back roads so we see a lot more interesting stuff. What is your theme music called, it's a real catchy tune. Regards from New Zealand.

There is also lectures about the area and different things, cook outs. It is a place to go. Enjoy
That was a very neat part of the trip. Nice area, pretty. Your camera is so clear, can see a long distance. Looked the Lost Dutchman up, lots of info. Great museum, and little town. Loads of history there. Love those saguaro cacti. Ty for the great ride along. 🙂👍

We love Apache Junction, we have wintered there for the last 10 years, it's beautiful. Just got home from there on April 1. I happened to see your RUclips of Superstition Mountain and had to watch. Also in Goldfield town that church at the top of the hill, they have church services there every Sunday, and its always full. Did you know that two times a year one being the last week in March when the sun is going down Superstition mountain has a shadow of a cougar on the mountain, we got some awesome pictures a few weeks ago. Enjoy your travels.
You do a great job making your videos very enjoyable. Your camera placement and the equipment is excellent and so is your friendly informative personality. In the evening I holler.."Russ has a new one" and we all gather 'round to watch. Thanks a lot.
Watched one where they followed the clues to where they thought the Lost Dutchman was and there is a commercial gold mining operation there already. Mystery solved.

All of these places here in AZ look so much fun! Thanks for sharing the joy. We now live in the NW of AZ so we will try to visit many of these fun spots in coming years.
We stayed in the White Mountains and did our shopping there. Lots of great burritos and smoke shops in that town. I loved it! I was told they named it after a hand some rancher lost everything he owned on. Not sure if it's true.
@@artmurphy4991 thanks but I can't vouch for it's truthfulness 😆. No we went there to stock up on goods and feed for the animals and fuel, that sort of thing. I'm afraid we didn't do too much exploration there.
We lived in Apache Junction for seven years and Goldfield Ghost town has the best hamburgers. We would go out there just for lunch with the best view in the state.

If you want to see amazing desert spring bloom go to Organ Pipe National Monument. Very nice campground right in the middle of it all. Good place to take Dusty Nugget as there are 2 loops that are easy but to much offroad for the Van
I live about 20 minutes away from this area and I go here all the time . No matter what kind of problems you have in your life when you comes out here pull out a chair and just sit and enjoy the view to will ask yourself WHAT PROBLEMS ? . Of after you leave you will say OH THOSE PRBLEMS !! 🙂
