And 12 years later he's still got it! Heard him in the last two years in Flint my hometown at the Capital Theater and last year at McMorran Auditorium in my present hometown Port Huron.
The Grand Funk members all grew up within 15 miles of my mom's home in Flint Michigan where I also grew up. I'm so glad that people are getting together and helping Mark and his son. I think Huchabee is a good man, and it's obvious when he reached out to help Mark...God bless America!
Mark Farners is a bad-ass! Hands-down one of THE top guitarists in rock-n-roll ever! Not to mention, his vocals. A soulful singer and most others pale in his presence. God Bless Mark Farner!!! And Mike Huckabee is over the top on bass.
Wonderful!!! Mark still has that great voice and personality! I am so glad someone got it on You Tube. This needs to go everywhere to get the word out about his injured son. Thanks for putting it on. Mark Rocks!
By far one of the greatest musicians in rock history. So sorry to hear about his son. Words can not describe how it must be to live with that for both him and his son. They need prayer as well as donations. God bless you Mark! You have been my role model and influence for years! Thank you for all of your beautiful music.
Being a Soviet schoolboy, I walked up 45 minutes earlier every day for half a year, just to listen GFR's "Live Album". The spirit of pure primary rock drive is nothing to compare with (only possible exception may be Dick Wagner's "The Frost"). The energy emitting from their music is a thermonuclear explosion. Humble Pie is fine, but nothing to compare with GFR.
DM1956x ... Hello from 2018! Grand Funk Live Album is my favorite double disk of my younger version. "Here's the group you've been waiting to see! Grand. Funk. RAILROAD!!" I love the whole thing, but my favorite is hearing Mark's amps buzzing, the little feedback chirps, the crowd hyping and finally, the title, Mark Says Alllllright!!!! P.S.: The Humble Pie reference from Mark is in reference to Shea stadium in New York. The Live Album was recorded at the Atlanta Pop Festival in either '69 or '70, not sure which year, but I believe it is'70.
GFR is my fav band then and now. Before Craig they were a power trio with fantastic music. Those three guys are my fav on guitar, drums and bass. Ain't nobody better together than them.
Appears to be genuine.Seems to be a person you would just enjoy talking to.Great musician. A great person who former bandmates took advantage of then gave him the shaft.
Nice clip. Farner good guy, f*** over by the other 2 but at least he still gets songwriting royalties. Best GFR album is "Grand Funk" (the "red" cover) - awesome.
GFR will never die!❤ Mark Williams @ the Coffee Lounge in Kawakawa, New Zealand 🇳🇿 smashing these songs out!! Nek min, we our buying the album’s !! Thanks Mark for introducing us teenagers to one the GOAT bands!!!!❤
Why are you even watching this video?? i don't know what it is that drives the motif of non-believing FOOLS to shout down those who believe. i'm not interested in arguing with people like you who are so arrogant, proud, and won't listen to people who know more than you do. Hope that one day you can admit your faults that you're wrong. Because there are 2 things when it comes to Faith: The existence of God, and the arrogance not to believe in it.
Oookay, i think it's time for someone to take a nap. 'Cause everything you just said was ignorant, and devoid of facts and evidence, so i'm just gonna leave you alone because there's really no need to argue with a liberal crybaby. Oh, you also didn't answer my question as to why you are even watching this video to begin with? Oh, i forgot, it's to troll people to make them think you know stuff. Pride comes before the fall, and you're full of it.
I recall that when Huckabee was first running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008 and it came out that he was a bass player, a reporter asked him who his favorite bass players were. Huckabee replied "Noel Redding of The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Mel Schacher of Grand Funk Railroad, with an Honorable Mention to Paul McCartney." And I thought, that's probably as good an answer to that question as there is!
Besides how talented Mark is (and still is, voice hasn't changed!!!) and how talented GFR was and is at playing awesome heavy metal/blues/soul/funk/ballad music (this isn't really one of them, just a fun copy of a 50's number that ended up getting popular) Mark and the GFR guy's are just plain cool people. Hope & pray that Mark's son has, or will make a full recovery!
Wow, some of these ppl in this comment column are really hating on Mark and Huckabee. I don't see how those comments ever made it on here! My comments on the last video I watched needed "pending approval" before they would let me submit it, so it probably never made it on. I never said anything like some of these ppl have! What's wrong with RUclips?? Was it because it was a vid of Mark claiming to be a believer? Sheesh! Puhleese, there are worse things!
It doesn't matter that Mark is Christian conservative and I'm the exact polar opposite. I respect the man because first off, I love his music, and second is that he respects other people and their views, unlike some other rockers such as Ted Nugent that have turned into total assholes filled with hate for anyone who doesn't think like they do.
tp10488 Farner is not a conservative across the board. He's totally for national healthcare- dental care- maternal care- 15.00 dollar a hr. Living wage.
Ted may be a bit harsh, but he is nowhere near the hateful, intolerant, unhinged disgrace and the number of unhinged disgraces on the Left that he is reacting to. If you want to point out something that is truly asshole-rich, look to the Left, not Ted Nugent.
@UFO4X I'm curious who were the better bands, that didn't get credit. GFR is from that pool bands, they were underdogs their whole career, they were they people's band and dominated the 70's. Most bands of the time couldn't even come close to gfr raw energy and live performances, blowing over rated Led Zep off the stage when they were at the top of their game. GFR success was hard earned, they were the hardest working bands of the 70's and arguably the best of that era.
I always find it interesting that those who are most obsessed with people being H8ers are some of the most H8ful people themselves. It isn't only religious folks who are intolerant fundamentalists.
The ultimate garage band that showed all of us if you work hard, catch a production break, get a hot shot full of shit manager who'd do something crazy like buy a 100 foot billboard on Times Square in NYC AND have basic hard rock tunes kids could learn in one hour, you'd be the greatest rock band in America and parts of the world for as long as God provides. And He did for Mark, Mel, and Don.
Mark Farner -- awesome fellow. Genuine and intelligent. He was GFR! The vocals, the stage presence, the author of all of the songs. No doubt at all. If one fellow is instant recognizable as the leader of GFR it is Mark. GFR via Mark was with me throughout high school. Mark - just market yourself at Mark Farmer formerly of GFR. That is legal most likely. Although I would love to read your documents. I am a lawyer.
And To Know This Good Man Acually Forgave The Person That Robbed Him Of Millions Of Dollars ! I Hope That Dude $hits Up His Back In Public , Every Day For The Rest Of His Life .
Gov.......You try like hell but it is plain to see why you didn't make it as a bass player. Stick to being a voice of the Christian right. But it was fun........and prayers to Mark and his family.
To say that Huckabee doesn't like Grand Funk is Bullshit. I Love Grand Funk and at the same time in 1973 I also loved Tanya Tucker. I was living in Hayden, CO. That's country.
If you've ever gotten a paycheck, you'll notice the Fed., State, FICA & Medicaid withholdings..you pay into the system every time you get a check so why not avail yourself to your own money?? Save your breath for your inflatable girlfriend
Every rock and roll fan agrees. No Mark Farner, No Grand Funk Railroad. Don and Mel still tour under Fake GFR. Saw them in Connecticut. Not the same. Just not the same.
I have seen both shows and Marks wins hands down. His has all the excitement and energy, Don and Mel`s is like a cheap sideshow, just going through the motions.
@@webman1956 - All the many fans I know agree with you. Don and Mel just don’t get it. That’s the main reason they are not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That’s a fact from several of those who vote.
@@geraldroraback5432 I don`t think it`s based off of what Don and Mel get, I think the group has been black balled by bad critical reviews back in the day even though they sold millions of records and packed stadiums. Their manager at the time, Terry Knight, treated the press like hell thinking any press was good press and it hurt the band over time and still does to this day.
There is no Grand Funk Railroad without Mark Farner, PERIOD!!!
Without Mark Farner there is no Grand Funk.Thank you Mike for helping out a true musician.
Amen
72 years young and STILL hitting every note in the original key. What a guy! My first guitar hero bar none. Mark Farner.
God Bless Mark Farner and all his family
Not many rock singers continue singing in their 60's but Mark still has the vocal chops.
And 12 years later he's still got it! Heard him in the last two years in Flint my hometown at the Capital Theater and last year at McMorran Auditorium in my present hometown Port Huron.

He sounds exactly the same as he did years ago. He's in great shape too.
He really got ripped off by his two band mates. Glad he’s a Christian.
Mark Farner is one great dude.
Wonderful!!! Mark still has that great voice and personality! I am so glad someone got it on You Tube. This needs to go everywhere to get the word out about his injured son. Thanks for putting it on. Mark Rocks!
Huckabee was great to invite Marc to help his sons's plight!
Two good guys. God bless both of you.
For a man who's given us so much Mark Farner sure has had more than his share of trials.
By far one of the greatest musicians in rock history. So sorry to hear about his son. Words can not describe how it must be to live with that for both him and his son. I met Mark Farner years ago at a roller rink in Durand, Michigan. Their band was great even then. Great music Mark!!!
Seen his show tonight, he sure can sing and those hit song were awesome. Best
of Luck to him and his long career.

Very cool. Mark Farner rocks!
Goes to show ya, I shouldn't miss The Huckabee Show. I was a huge Grand Funk fan. And now that Mark's a Christian, I'm thrilled to pieces!
He said he was a huge fan even before Mark embraced his Christianity, you dumb fuck.

I love that album too. You are so right about Don and Mel.
Awful what they did to him.
One more thing, I never took drugs, drink or smoked cigarettes. My favorite band is Grand Funk Railroad.
Wow! I did not know that this had happened to his son! Holly Smokes! Darn Tragedy. May our lord, Jesus look over your son and keep him well.

How about Huckabee, helping out one of favorite bands GFR. I think I want to give. See you there...

From what I hear the drummer of GF pulled a fast one and stabbed this man, who wrote all of GFs songs in the back.
lol...............and mike huckabee on the bass everybody
