Thank you so much for your reaction to Diana Ankudinova. Diana actually turned 16 on 31st May 2019, but was 15 at the time of this performance. The show she is on here is Ты супер! (translated as "You are Super") and it is for children who have found themselves without parental care at some point in life. According to the programme, Diana was abused by her biological mother until around the age of 3 years, and ended up in an orphanage. While there, a massage nurse named Irina Ponik took care of her, and a strong bond was formed, to the extent that a year afterward Diana was adopted by Irina, and Irina has been her "Mom" ever since. It seems that for the first year or so Diana would hardly speak, and singing lessons were recommended, and the rest is history. Diana is now with a loving family, and her music training goes from strength to strength. Since winning the show, she has received much support from Igor Krutoy, the bald guy on the judges panel, and who is one of Russia's foremost composers and song writers. You may have seen him play piano for Dimash sometimes. Diana's cover of "Rechenka" a Russian folk song, on the same show in 2018 is something else, and very much worth watching. It's not the matter of pitch range that she has, it's the matter of her ability to lower her larynx that much. The notes she's singing are not that low - she's lowering her larynx and that's why our perception of the sound is so low.
Great you've already founded this Russian national treasure. Kazachstan has Dimash, Russia has Diana, they are both very unique and special 👍🎶😍. Her the best performance for me is Rechenka-River , you'll be blown away.
Unparalleled depth? No. At her age? For sure. her lowest note in Wicked Game is the alto's lowest one: F3. From an interview we learned Diana's lowest is within Contralto. Plenty of female singers doing that, but hardly anyone that much volume (or control) there. Even the great Yma Súmac didn't have that much volume in her lower notes.
