  • This reviews the BDS Suspension 3" lift kit with Fox Performance Elite dual speed adjustable coil-overs on my 2015 F150 XLT FX4 with 5.0L V8. I've put around 8,000 miles on this lift kit climbing mountains in Colorado, traversing the Ozarks and bombing through the desert in Baja, Mexico. It has been a huge upgrade that I highly recommend.

    Thank you for this video Jacob. Ordered my 3" kit thanks to your previous video and now this adds even more value to my purchase. I cant wait, they should be delivered today!
    I only went with the 2.0 in the rear but still just as stoked.

      Thank you for the comment! I'm glad my videos were helpful. You made a great choice, this BDS kit is awesome.

      I ordered the same kit as well, with just the regular rear struts and new springs. The kit arrived today. Can’t wait to get it installed!! Let me know what ya think about yours please.

      @@jacobsupgradesa little off roading at times and basic everyday driving. I just wanted a better handling vehicle overall. The canister placement you mentioned. Why did you put them lower towards the front, as opposed to above the coils? Do I need to mention to my installer where I would like my canisters?

      @@brandonfoster7400 the front mounting location is the recommended spot by Fox. I reached out to them about mounting above the coils and they don't provide a bracket or recommend mounting that way. Seems odd to me. I have seen a photo where someone had their fox resi mounted above the coil but it must have been a custom bracket. My worry would be if the tire would contact it at full flex

    I have this same kit on my f150. Couldn’t find any info on this kit before I bought it so I just pulled the trigger. I absolutely love it. Glad someone made a video on it. Also I used the mounting brackets and mounted my resis to the coilover mount so they are mounted in the fender well. I had a guy tell me he mounted his there and had problems with clearance but I’ve had zero issues with that and I’m running 35” Toyo rts.

      Thanks for the feedback, I'm really glad I upgrade to this lift kit as well. I've seen a few resis mounted like you mentioned. I've thought about moving mine to mount like that.

      Question for both of you I’m looking for the smallest amount of lean in my truck do you think I could run this kit without the block in the rear and have no issues?

    • @jacobsupgrades
      @jacobsupgrades  2 месяца назад

      @@danielzobell9506 are you asking if you would sit level and get rid of the rake in the rear? I think if anything maybe leaving the factory block in might sit dead level. You could throw the shocks in after doing the front and see how it sits. I'm not sure if it would mess with the shocks.

    • @danielzobell9506
      @danielzobell9506 2 месяца назад +1

      @@jacobsupgrades it says on the bds website that the shocks can be run with 0 lift so I’m wanted to just run it with no blocks at all

    • @jacobsupgrades
      @jacobsupgrades  2 месяца назад

      @@danielzobell9506 if you have a 4WD Ford they come with steel lift blocks from the factory. The 2WD trucks do not have blocks. If you remove the factory blocks you'll probably have a trophy truck Cali lean look with the front end up higher than the rear.

    Great video man.
    Thank you for making this and making it so soon. I now have the elite 2.5 on my 2015 f150 larait on a 6inch bds. So for the folks like me, turning the dial toward the plus sign ➕ makes it softer or adds compression/travel? Correct? And the opposite is true?

    • @jacobsupgrades
      @jacobsupgrades  5 месяцев назад +1

      @mrbeatty13able, thank you for the comment! Turning the dials towards the plus sign or clockwise will make the shocks stiffer. Turning towards the minus or counter clockwise will make them softer.

    Do you fit in a parking garage with the lift? You also happen to have a rack on top... so that is additional height that likely prevents that.

    • @jacobsupgrades
      @jacobsupgrades  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, I've driven into a couple tall parking garages but careful on going to different levels. I can fit in my 8ft tall garage with the platform. Without the platform I think I'm around 7ft tall with 35" tires. I really like the Rhino Rack Platform because I can take it on and off to be able to fit into garages and go through drive through car washes when I'm not using it.

    High and low compression is the most appropriate number for the street?

    • @jacobsupgrades

      I turn them counter clockwise back to zero then go 2 click clockwise and adjust as needed. This is for an empty truck running 35s.

    Hi Jacob, what gears are you running with the 35's? your fuel milage must have taken a huge hit. I have a 2016 f150 5.0 as well, and been looking into different kits. this one seems intriguing.

    • @jacobsupgrades
      @jacobsupgrades  5 месяцев назад +1

      I'm running Yukon 4.11 gears. It does help some with gas mileage but really gives the truck better performance on acceleration and slow speed crawling. It also helps with towing. If you look at your truck manual the higher the gear ratio the more the towing capacity. The truck drives way better with the 35's since upgrading to Yukon 4.11's. I've been meaning to film a review on the gears, thank you for asking.

    Tire width? Wheel diameter, width, and offset?

    • @jacobsupgrades
      @jacobsupgrades  4 месяца назад

      Tires are 35x12.5W on Weld Cinch 17x9 with 5" back spacing. You could go with 6" back spacing if you're running an aggressive mud tire with knobby side walls.
