I’ve been thinking about doing this to mine because they are pretty rough after this I’m going to. It will look so much better
@@synergy793 it made them look so much better and it should be a tougher paint for all the road grime and gravel. I wish I had done it sooner to mine.
@ I just bought my truck in April and I have to redo bumpers and rims because they are shit as well. The steps I was in debate because I didn’t think it was going to be worth it. Seeing this just proves my thoughts on it. Also want to point out how well you can see the coverage and vibrancy 👍🏼
@ it's a good product I highly recommend it. I didn't realize how glossy it would turn out but I think it looks good with my Tuxedo Black paint job
@jacobsupgrades, sorry to keep buggin'' you. What width tape did you use?
1/2" got it. The 3M tech I spoke to (much easier to deal with than Ford) strongly suggested 3M 6396 Adhesion Promoter too.
@@LarrymanYT this is the one I used 3M Acrylic Double Sided Auto Tape - amzn.to/40nE2ut
Thank you for the Video you did an excellent job showing how to fix it.. I just got a 2015 F-150 Lariat 4×4 and seen that I had the same problem with the sliding back window tape is on its way..😊
@ glad to help out that 3M tape works really well, one year later and it's holding strong.
How did you use a drill for the holes in the back? Did you take the tire off?
@@ethanjohnson9089 we just angled it enough with the tire on. Might be easier to take the tire off though.

Thanks for the help sir. In case nobody mentioned it, you don't need to remove the pulley. Go back and engage the primary tensioner, and this makes room for the belt come out easily.
@@sillymanandrere glad to help! Thanks for the advice
By the way, @jacobsupgrades, I just spoke to Ford and two dealers. Ford Inc pretends to be clueless that this is a problem. One dealer said they'd need two days to evaluate the part (part? the adhesive failed!) Another dealer said the track is not a part; the whole back window is the part. If they just glue it, there is no warranty. If they replace the rear window, there's a two-year warranty. So do-it-yourself is the only option.
@@LarrymanYT wow that's crazy. I tried to find the track part number as well and couldn't find anything on it. Crazy they said gluing it wouldn't be the solution yet that's how it comes from the factory.
Jacob, a year in, is it still holding? I used a different 3M tape, and it held for about 6 months.
@LarrymanYT, Yes it's still holding strong. Using 2 layers of the double stick gave a better bond for me and I haven't had it come loose at all. I think applying even pressure with clamps and rigid aluminum for 24 hours made a big difference allowing it to bond to the glass.
Looks goood. Doesn't look like you had to deal with much, if any orange peel, that's great! I hope that how mine comes out? If so, I won't even bother with wet sanding and compound buffing.
@@fasteddie617 I'm really happy with how the finish came out. I think sanding with a heavy grit before the primer gave it a good surface for the primer to bond and a good base for the paint.
Eww F.O.R.D. Pass on this channel....
Nice work, looks great! I have nearly identical damage on my 21 Lariat. Backed into a steel/concrete post in a parking lot. Ended up grabbing the bumper cap on eBay for $100 bucks. Black steel, OEM Ford bumper. Figured I'd save myself $1500 bucks. Going to sand, repaint and refinish it in the spring. Thanks for the vid, I'll refer to this if I get jammed up. 👍
@@fasteddie617 glad to help out! It's really an easy process just getting the paint done right is the hard part. I've filmed a new video showing sanding it down, priming then painting. You can find that video here - F150 Rear Bumper Repaint #truck #diy ruclips.net/video/jh_F65KT5JE/видео.html
@@jacobsupgradesawesome thanks. Yes I ordered primer paint and clear. My buddy worked auto body for years. He told me to make sure I sand down everything well. Primer it, then come in with three coats of base. Then three coats of clear. Water sand it with 2k grit. Then polish it with a good cutting and refinishing compound. Is that the same 6.6 (400) engine used in the 1979 Lincoln Mark V?
@@joseduranjr4963 yes it's the same block but there are different components from the cars. I have a similar setup and have attic space above the garage. So I have strut laying across the top of the bottom chord of the roof trusses and then bolted the strut below ceiling to strut above truss with all thread rods. No worries about lag bolts pulling out and spreads the load out across 12' of the trusses. I have the issue with racking as well. Was going to add some roller blade wheels on triangle piece on top of cross strut so the wheels would ride on the sides of the parallel strut bars to keep it sliding smooth. Strut for project was salvaged from an angio lab replacement project that I designed mechanical systems for in a hospital. It is great stuff.
I like your method of securing the strut that way you won't risk any lag bolts pulling out. I have a similar idea for preventing it from racking but with 2 parallel pieces of strut with their own rollers spaced 2ft apart to help prevent racking but it would limit the area the hoist could move. My first exposure to unistrut was in hospitals as well for overhead booms and imaging equipment.

Coverlay door panels are junk! I bought a set for an ex military Chevy k30 I have as the original door panels got melted from a house fire. So I replaced them with coverlay ones. Although they look nice, the paint is coming off everywhere, they are cracked and broken were the drivers knee rubs against them, the clips they provide just fall off. The door lock bezel comes off when you shut the door, the arm rest screw holes are cracked and broken. You are better off getting good used ones from a junk yard and repairing them and repainting the, for over $400 for a set I’d expect better quality.
@@CucvDetroitM1028A1 how long have you had them installed?
@@jacobsupgrades less than 2 months.
@@jacobsupgrades here is my experiences with aftermarket door panels, they are made with modern plastics not the heavy vinyl that they were made with in the old days. The old ones lasted 40+ years the modern ones don’t last to heavy use. The modern ones are made to look pretty the old ones are made to be functional. The truck these door panels went into I’d an old 1984 Chevy army truck that I use as a service truck for my business. So I want functional not pretty. And you need sore panels on these trucks so the windows have some support otherwise the windows will just shatter without the support of the door panel. I’m probably going to have to look in the junkyards for a set of good door panels repair them and repaint them.
