I just replaced my Greddy Type S (unique chirp sound) with a Tial Q for more power, but I deeply miss my Greddy! Tial sounds like a sneeze, but I fell in love with the chirp after not liking it initially. It was so loud, but not offensive in any way. The car had such a presence with it, and it's gone... 😥
If by mature you mean less flamboyant and boarder-lining obnoxious, then yeah I can agree with that. If that's the case, honestly you could just do what I do and remove the fin insert on the HKS to make it sound much more similar to the Tial, or any push-style. Just in case anyone then wants to ask... *Then why not just buy one of those BOV's?* Easy, I prefer the pull-style far more over push as a pull is inherently a better design, even though it does have it's limit. Also, self-monitoring is an amazing and convenient factor for me.
You're in Georgia ( I see the tags on your wall ) ? We have a big group of local area Supra owners that keep in touch on a group chat and meet up sometimes. Hit me up, we'll loop you in. cool video, sold me on the TiAL Q for sure. I like the straight blow off sound without the flutter. Cool stuff man.
Yeah man that would be awesome. Atleast around Savannah there isn’t many others I found around here. So occasionally I’ll head down to Jacksonville and link in with the Supra group down there. Thanks for the comment and reaching out. I look forward to linking up in the future.
Awesome vid sir 👍 Ive been trying to decide which BOVs to run on my stinger gt and while i think the tial has a more "lowkey" sound that i like i think ill go with the HKS because i like the self regulating design more. Side question- when running dual hks BOVs where would you think power wise should i start looking into a larger single tial? im hoping to push my stinger into the 600-650+hp range in a year or two.
I know I mentioned reported failures on HKS at higher power levels, but I think you would reduce the likely hood of that occurring because you are running two of them. All engine setups are all slightly different, so without a lot testing it would be hard to give you an exact number. Personally, I would just continue to use your dual HKS setup until you start to experience compressor surge and that would be your sign to find a new method of regulating pressure. (Aka swapping to TiAL or repositioning where your BOVs are positioned.)
It was a setup I bought from Titan Motorsports. I honestly wasn’t happy with what they sent me and had to modify it during my install. If I were to go back and re-do it, I would have just gone with a PHR tubular kit. Great service and quality.
Will I have to get a ECU tune or anything to avoid my car running rich or having issues with HKS ? I’m looking to install it on a 2018 Elantra sport direct injection engine, some say it causes idle issues and fuel to air ratio issues, is that true? And do I need to touch my factory solenoid at all? Thanks
I’m not knowledgeable on Elantra’s, so I can’t speak specifically on your application, but I do know generally on most modern applications that come turbocharged from the factory: generally if your car has a recirculating BOV and you try to swap to a vent to atmosphere BOV you have to get it re-tuned. And by solenoid are you referring to the Boost Control Solenoid or something else?
I’m not sure. I have seen some setups using two BOVs before but they were the same type valve…not different. What’s your reasoning for trying to double up on BOVs?
One of the BEST.. comparison videos i have ever seen!!!!!
Thanks man, that means a lot!
It is pretty good
Thanks again.
I like the HKS high pitch whistle when it blows off.
Probably one of the only “ricey” sounds I like.

Very detailed. Will stick with my hks until i go single. Cheers 👍
Thanks man. I’m eager to hear how your first drive experience is after you go single. Keep me posted!
Great vid mate, very handy to see them compared
Thanks and I appreciate the feedback. I hope it helped.
I think the Tial! Thank you for sharing.
Agreed, thanks for the comment.
Tial definitely sounds more mature and better.

Thanks for the comment! I should have added a clip of the HKS without the insert to show your point.
A lot of great and important information.
Thanks for your comment
Beautiful mrk4 and explanation thanks fam
Thanks for the comment dude.
Good vid man.
Thanks.

Tial sounds amazing! HKS got old and sounds like the stereotypical Fast and Furious BOVs
Yeah heard a tial on a dc5 sounded like a street fighter punch
What
@@Freshh636 What? 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@robertorazo4694 they don't get the reference, bet it must've sounded sweet😂

Why are the only full throttle runs with the camera on the bov?! No driver seat full throttle or drive by full throttle to hear the difference??
tail sound amazing,do you have a link of that

@@ShealeysGarage Thank you for mentioning TiAL Sport
Any recommended model for a stock Supra turbo 7MGTE?
@dmd58 Unfortunately I’m not familiar with “7M” setups to offer you any really good feed back or advice.
What turbo kit are you running? I am planning to single soon.

@@ShealeysGarage Yeah, I was planning to go with PHR as well.
What turbo do you plan on running with?
@@ShealeysGarage Planning on a 6266 DBB with .84 divided A/R. Stock ECU and fuel but will upgrade at a later time.
Hks bov sounds way better and is louder on my supra
Haha agreed man. I miss the sound of the HKS, but efficiency wise, TiAL is better.

Simple answer: Yes.
Should you: No, it's unnecessary and is kinda silly.
Also, BOV's go on charge pipes.
Tail sounds better
Does anyone else wanna hear what an HKS sounds like with trumpets instead of fins?
Haha if I only still had it, I could do the comparison video for you.
@@ShealeysGarage Rip. Thanks anyway, though!
