Compression Test on the MKIV Supra
Просмотров 1588 месяцев назад
Before removing the cams on the Supra, I wanted to ensure the head gasket was still in good working order. Thankfully the compression wasn't low in any of the cylinders and was quite the opposite. Around 180psi as opposed to the 156psi that the TSRM states they should be at. I think the higher pressure was due to build up on the valves. Next step, draining fluids and removing the turbo manifold.
Morimoto XB Tail Light Install on 2018 F-150
Просмотров 2859 месяцев назад
Finally replaced those bland OEM halogen lights with these new LED Morimoto XB tail lights. 10 out of 10....would recommend!! I tried just replacing the halogen bulbs with LED bulbs before this install, and have been driving around with erratic indications in the vehicle (but correctly functioning outside) due to the different levels of resistance in the bulbs. This install corrected all of tha...
Headlight Restoration on an F-150

Restoring my aftermarket Morimoto XB headlights. I installed these in 2020 new, but they began to develop this heavy oxidation which needed to be cleared. The headlights were brought back to "like new" condition...greatly increasing the presence of the truck. A simple project just requiring a little bit of time.

@@ShealeysGarage Thank you for mentioning TiAL Sport
Any recommended model for a stock Supra turbo 7MGTE?
@dmd58 Unfortunately I’m not familiar with “7M” setups to offer you any really good feed back or advice.
single turbo??
Yeah single turbo.
When I try to save the configurations in Forscan, at 73% I'm getting a "Writing Blocks failed- incompatible configuration." error. It seems to be enabling the Control Module setting, but not the Gain setting. Any idea why? Also, why does the 3rd option- Trailer Brake Module remain disabled?
I have an issue with my idle always being high, my mechanic couldn't find any boost leaks but he did say he noticed my bov stays open at idle. In the Facebook group half the people said it was supposed to be open and half said it wasn't supposed to be open at idle. Anyway, does this mean I need a stiffer spring, and if so, how much stiffer? Also, can they be swapped out while the bov is still installed in the car? Thanks.
@@georgebishop4627 You are supposed to match the spring pressure of your BOV to the idle vacuum of your engine. Different brand BOV’s will have different spring rates that correspond to different vacuum rates. If you have a boost gauge you should be able to see what your vacuum is at idle and go from there. Idle issues can be the result of multiple different things especially if you are running aftermarket parts and/or have a standalone ECU. It can be anything as simple as adjusting your Idle Air Control Valve, to adjusting ignition tables and VE. Lastly I would NOT try changing your spring on the car. There is a good amount of pressure on the bolts (from the spring) holding the valve together….the last thing you would want is to have one fly off and become FOD in your engine somewhere. Having it off the car should allow you to use a clamp to apply pressure evenly on the valve to remove and re-install the bolts.
I have a boost gauge and I'll have to check but it starts at like 20in vacuum but after driving for like 10 mins it will have a high idle and be at like 25in vacuum. I have had literally everything checked on it from biss screw in throttle body to air leaks etc. I have a tuneable aftermarket ECU and it was tuned and running fine for a little while. But if the bov is open and it's not supposed to be that's definitely a concern.
@georgebishop4627 I want to say the BOV is supposed to remain slightly open at idle and only close once you begin to accelerate (raise your vacuum pressure higher than what the spring pressure if raised for.) If you watch the video I have on the Tial BOV on my channel I show the valve opening and closing during acceleration and deceleration. Mine looks like it stays slightly open at idle. I’ll also check again tomorrow morning when I start my car and let you know. Based on your symptoms your describing it sounds like there’s a change with something in your tune when your car gets up to normal operating temp. You said this doesn’t happen until you drive around for ten minutes. Try letting your car sit and warm up for 15 minutes at idle and see if the problem shows up. Did you get a dyno tune/street tune? Or did you do a remote tune? What ECU are you running? Also have you changed anything with your setup since your tune?
Is it true that you need to put a fuse in somewhere in the fuse box. I heard that there ain’t a fuse for the controller so when you do this you have to add one
It all depends on your specific truck. Some trucks did not have a fuse installed from the factory and others did. Just take a look at your fuse box in the engine bag to see if you have one installed or not.
@@ShealeysGarageokay perfect thank you
Hello, I have a question and I hope you can help me, I have the F-150 XL 2020 with the most basic display, I have carried out all the steps, in the IPC module only one option appears to activate, I did it and everything is in order, the intensity controller works, but it doesn't appear on the screen when I increase or decrease the braking intensity, nothing appears but it does work, any suggestions? Do I have to activate something else to get the information on the screen?
How did the brake controller you got from Amazon hold up? I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews/high rate of returns. Or are those just the reviews of people who don't have a clue of what they're doing?😂
Based on all the comments from others, I think it’s a roll of the dice as to weather or not the Amazon controllers work. I would recommend purchasing the OEM controller from Ford and install it yourself. This way you don’t have to worry about getting a faulty one from Amazon.
What’s The part number for the new sensor that goes with the Uego harness ?
Sounds the exact same on my 400hp cobalt ss I love it.
What spring you on? I have tail bov on mines but i don't hear bov on 11psi spring yellow
@@Phillykappa215 I use an 18"
I’m currently using an 11psi spring as well.
Just installed a brake controller on 2017 f150 and now there are no lights at all when we hook to our camper. Had lights before installing the brake control. What fuses should we be checking or anything else we should check?
Awesome video. My dad installed a knockoff brand and now the trailer brakes are locking up when he connects it. He has purchased the correct brand. Does he have to reprogram after install? Do you know?
If you already enabled the trailer brake control modules on your ECU, you “should” not have to re-enable it after you install the new trailer brake controller. That’s an assumption though, I would still be prepared too as a backup.
@@ShealeysGarage Thank you.
Can we get an update video how well they stayed clear?
🎶 What bov are you running here? Beautiful car 👌🏼
Thanks. It’s a TiAL Q BOV.
Why not just install a BSPT Male to 1/8-27 NPT adapter? Like the pro efi guys do?
🤫
Those gauges are beautiful
Thanks
Question what is the little screen above the cigarette lighter
It’s a BTI CAN Gauge. It’s connected directly into the AEM Infinity ECU to be able to display all the parameters of the ECU and control certain things like boost, traction control, and the shift light.
Hey sir which spring rate do you have? pretty sure i have the wrong one in my JZ car lol
I’m currently running an 11psi spring. Haha. Hope this helps.
I'm a DSM guy; old, grey hair and all. Not sure why you'd want to remove the coolant/oil heat exchanger. It heats up the oil in the winter and keeps it cooler in the summer. Might help with the turbo and regulating the oil temp too. Does your 2JZ use oil squirters?
One of the major pluses of removing the factory oil cooler is increasing the oil pressure. I don’t drive my car in below zero conditions as it’s rarely gets below 32 deg F, where I live. However I could see “some” benefit in extreme cold conditions. But in my situation, letting the car idle for 5-10 minutes is all I need to do to ensure everything comes up to temp. Also The factory oil cooler through testing only assisted in reducing the oil temps by about 2-5 degrees. There are after market oil coolers which are more effective in controlling heat in race applications, but that’s not needed in my case.
It's loud alright...but the silencer makes it sound muddy/gross.
Noticed the clutch master cylinder was moving while your assistant pressed in the clutch pedal. Is that a Supra thing or what?
I actually didn’t notice that until you pointed that out. Thanks. I’ll go take a look at that today. It should not move like that haha.
I think there was MORE surge with the Tial - the HKS valve itself has a flutter to it. The Tial actually allows some surge before it fully opens. I think it's less responsive than the HKS.
This helped me quite a bit. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
What is that cover on the muffler?
It’s not a cover, that is a clamp that has the exhaust hanger on it for the HKS TI Race exhaust.
I have the HKS Ti and love it because it's not too loud. The Tomei is loud, too loud for me.
If you only have a 4 pin will a 7 pin adapter still function the brakes
What should I expect when I go to add this to my 2016 F150 that has trailer back up assist and no damn center console?
I keep getting trailer disconnected after installing and won’t let me gain the brakes. Just says “no trailer” Any tips or help would be appreciated.
How much hp?
493whp @ 14lbs. Currently limited by the stock fuel system.
Omg let's go my favorite car since I was a little kid a Toyota supra 😎🚗
Dayum thats glossy
Thanks for putting this video together. You saved me a ton of time and money! Really appreciate it.
Glad I could help.

Ummm excuse me your japenese car is making american noises sir 😅

That’s a bad ass Supra
Thanks man!
Sounds awesome brother! Keep it up, love your vibes
Thanks!

You can use the Celica detonator and buy a Lexus jumper connector I did it in mine works great I’m going to find out the part number you need for the jumper is only about 20 bucks from the dealer I’ve got the same set up in my Supra
😂😂 we all accidentally throw it out or give it away by accident when we sell the old exhaust haha
Facts! I never thought I would have needed them again haha.
So what turbo you running?? Sounds beautiful brother! I’m trying to find a comparison vid w PHR and Tomei. Seems like it doesn’t exist. Lol.
Thanks man I appreciate the comment. I’m running a journal bearing PTE 6766 w/ .81ar. And yeah I haven’t seen a side by side comparison of those two exhausts yet either.
What insert?
The original insert. It’s silver. I think the other two inserts are red and gold if I remember correctly.
do you prep wrap similar to paint before polishing
You definitely need to prep the surface by ensuring it is clean prior to applying a wrap. But you do not "need" to sand, apply primer, etc when applying a wrap. However....if you have large imperfections in the paint or body of the car such as dents or chips, some of those imperfections may still be visible after the wrap is applied.
Good comparison 💯
Thanks 🤙🏽
Very helpful video! What I encountered and what eventually fixed it - When I installed my brake controller from Levittown Ford Parts, I had enabled services for all 3. I then had the brake module fault error. After searching for this error, found that most commonly associated with fuse. The fuse was missing, so I added the 30 amp fuse. No more fault, yet I wasn't able to adjust the gain even with the trailer attached. I reconnected my pc to the car computer and the brake module had been disabled! Maybe because of the fault error? I enabled it again and it works! Thanks again for your very informative and helpful video!
Thanks for sharing how you solved the issue with adding the fuse! I appreciate your comment and I’m glad the video helped you for your install.
I've been waiting to do this for awhile and I'm glad I saved your video. Excellent job and was indispensable
Thanks for the comment and glad the video helped.
