    If you tap on the horn 3 times and say, "there's no place like home", You will be transported to the nearest Donut shop. That wasn't me. I left my computer on and went to the store. My daughter's boyfriend, at the time, thought it would be funny to post stuff on my RUclips channel, and especially my FB account. My Aunt messaged me back wondering how I could say such mean things to her. And then blocked me. So, I apologize if this comment was rude.

    BTW, forget the glove box, there are MILLIONS of ford fleet vehicles that are keyed with a single ford fleet key. If you have a Vic with the fleet key, you can have the doors, trunk, and ignition re-keyed for ~$300, but I would keep that fleet key for survival type shit.

    the box that is left behind the grille is not the siren. It is a 100 or sometimes 200 watt siren/pa speaker. it will not work unless you buy a siren box and install it, then run the wires to the speaker. So a switch from the parts store won't help you. also the strobe lights require a strobe power supply which usually mounts in the trunk and the wires are run to it, then a switch is run to the power supply.

    I found that all crown Vic's have the traction control button and pedal adjustment button. The P71s have a different panel then the P7Bs so they are actually covered. So if you have a P71 and want those features just find a panel off a 7B and you're good to go

    My P71 came without a glovebox insert, just the door. Now I've never had a locking glovebox so I just replaced the whole thing with a unit from a Grand Marquis. You convinced me to try my key on the glovebox door. Sure enough it works! That is absolutely insane. Thanks!

    Just so we're clear, you risk impersonation charges of you rewire the siren or the strobes.

    The thing with the keys is pretty common across the big three from that era. I could open the doors to my 92 Sierra with anything that resembled the stock key. Once unlocked it with the mailbox key belonging to the store clerk where I happened to lock the keys in the truck. My buddy had a late 90’s Dodge Caravan you could unlock with a dime. Ignitions seemed to be a bit more secure but doors and glove boxes were a different story.

    Please tell me you don't keep your "Precious Metal" in your car when it is parked.... Any one who breaks into your car and finds the glove box locked will open said glove box... a screw driver will open any glove box, you don' t need a key.

    • @NarcassiticGamer

  • @BC.ZJ.OVERLAND
    @BC.ZJ.OVERLAND 7 лет назад +20

    the cars are known as "Keyed Alike" and the departments then only have a couple different key cuts. easier to manage.
    Cup holders are rare actually now it seems as departments usually throw them out.
    The adjustable pedals are because officers heights are varying more then they used to, ford wanted to adapt the cars to different officers.
    Please stop posting false information about these cars. It's getting a bit irritating.
    But I will say your black vic is a decent looking vic. If you want to actually learn about these cars, message me.

    On the power points they are still both wired to be hot only when the key is in on/acc position; on my '08 Marquis I snipped the power wire going to the lower one and tapped into the constant power feed to the radio, This way my lower one is always hot to charge my phone or whatever but the upper one switches on/off with the key for my dash cam. Cheap and easy hack for those comfortable with wiring diagrams etc. ;)

    the pedal adjust is for shorter drivers, my lincoln town car executive L(long wheel base) has this feature, im 6'3" and I can adjust it so that I can barely touch the pedals lol, and I can also make it as short as a person thats like 4'11" could drive it lol, so it cant be because of the cage, on the lincolns it was standard also the traction control button, on the mercury it might have been too and on the crown vics was probably optional like the traction control button. also the 2 front chargers are the same, but the lincoln doesnt have the cup holders on that tray, it had them on the center console seat armrest combo thingy mcjig lol

    My 2000 CV cupholder does not fit a Yeti or Ozark trail mug, it is to small. another difference is the remote 12VDC plug in is down on the passenger side. I keep one of those lit up plugs in it so I can plug in usb devices and it lights the side my wife sits on at night. If I can find a newer CV, I will see if the cupholder is easily swappable. The CV is my choice for a highway car. I have a friend who has access to the NMO mount VHF antenna for the P71. I am a ham radio user and these antennas are good for 2 M, they also have a UHF antenna that mounts on the car, so I can put my 70CM radio in.

  • @Anon1mous
    @Anon1mous 7 лет назад

    That anti-theft you talk about is not factory and aftermarket. It was an option on the remote start I installed on mines. Some departments will install them but there will be a switch you have to push to let the system know you are taking the key out. On my remote start, I push the remote start button once, the doors then unlock signaling that it is safe to take out the key and the car will remain on. Like you said, when someone jumps in and presses the brake pedal to put the car in gear, the engine shuts down.

    Good point on the glove box lock. However one thing to consider is that the glove box lock is not much of an obstacle for an intruder if they really want to get in there. Most thieves will come prepared with a small set of tools to bust in to these types of places. Also, would not recommend anyone leaving a weapon in their car EVER if they are not going to be in it. Just saying. Thieves only need a minute if that much to take your hard earned valuables. Happens here in certain parts of Tampa all of the time.

    you can do the key thing with any car and if its a non chipped key for a newerish cars the reason it opens the glove box and not start the car is there designed that way take rc controllers for example you can drive someones car right to you with a cheep little walmart toy. now with the 2.4 ghz ones you cant same with the fob keys

    So I have experience with Police Vehicles since I used to be a taxi driver so I dealt with a few Retired Police Car Impala/Crown Vic... So the thing is they are FLEET vehicles so high chance your key will work in multiple cars of the same make. Like literally my key to my Impala Cab I could literally jump in ANY of the cab companies Impalas and drive it and the same goes for the Crown Victoria this was done for simplicity for Police Departments.

    The “anti-theft” feature you described, keyless idle, was not a Crown Vic option. That was a common aftermarket add-on.

    I would love to own a Crown Vic. The only problem is that I live in Australia, and we never got the Crown Vic exported here. Not even the civilian version. Now, I have no doubt I could import one myself, but the amount of work and money required to make it legal to drive here wouldn't be worth it.

    It's not an integrated system.... It's an aftermarket module added to police vehicles. You can get them for most models.

    You know all this time I thought my 1988 Mercury Sable LS had a flaw with removing the key while she was still on and shutting off when I tried to put her in reverse. Now I know it wasn't a flaw. However that was many years ago and I no longer have the car.

    The pedal adjustment button was actually intended to help "grandma and grandpa" reach the pedals. That's the REAL demographic they were shooting for there with that option. The lowest pedal adjustment actually puts the pedals in the same spot as a car without the option.

    Mr Random, first and foremost, please do not get offended by my criticism.
    1.But in the conclusion of this video(based on your statements) I discovered that either both of the pedals under the dash are "BRAKES" that are adjustable and accelerator is missing or you refer to one pedal as the whole "BRAKES" system but fail to mention that accelerator is also adjustable with it.
    2.That the audio unit has "RADIO SPEED CONTROL" that either controls your vehicle speed or radio has its own speed of some sort. Perhaps you tried to refer to a feature called "Speed Volume" also known as "Speed-compensated automatic volume".
    3.What gave you an assumption that side marker lights might have LEDs in them? Some viewers don't even know what LEDs are. From the factory, P71 does NOT come with extra lighting accessories in any of the lighting systems besides the custom dome light. All strobe lights have to be installed per department requirement. All marker, tail and head lights are custom drilled for that purpose. Maybe you meant that if a person that acquires a used P71 that could come with strobe lights and it will depend on the department that it was modified for or might even come with LEDs instead of strobe lights on the very latest P71, P7A or P7B models.
    Just by doing a little more research, good editing and your own review of this video, it could have been an awesome video and probably yielded a lot more likes and views. You seem like a smart person and will analyze my criticism for your personal gain.
    Wish you best of luck.

      LoudChevyNoah. My apologies. You probably right. Because it was you and not me, who assisted in delivering those barebone P71s from the factory to the dealer. WAIT, or was it the other way around?🔁
      You know that better than me because you work at FORD and you know it first hand. Or maybe at the least, you TOWED one of those 🚔P71s from the factory using your Scooter and wishing that you will get a real 🏍Bike some day, while listening a ♬mix of your favorite ♪COUNTRY and ♭RAP music over your 🕩subwoofer. It seems like you love cars, but apparently not enough to know a lot about them.
