    18 manual z06 owner here: its hands down the most fun car I’ve owned. It’s my third corvette and will keep this Z forever. Had a c6 z51 and c7 z51 prior but they don’t hold a candle to the Z06. Done light mods to it like headers, x pipe, intake, ported TB, and tune. Sitting at 600whp on 91. Doing flex fuel and AFM delete next then will be done modding. Paid $57k to get mine at 46k miles. Well worth it.

    I've owned quite a few Corvettes in my life. My favorite was a 69 427 roadster that I ordered and bought new. It was my daily driver and I raced it in SCCA A Production as well. Last December, I bought a 2015 C7 Z51 with magnetic ride control. It had all the important (to me) options, set up for superior handling and braking. I did go with the 8 speed auto as I lost my left leg several years ago and can't reliably operate a clutch anymore, but I have found the automatic to be very controllable, unlike older automatics. I considered a Z06, but the extra power was not worth the additional expense to me, especially for purely street use. I don't plan on racing any more, and the 460 HP and 465 fr-lbs of torque this car hasis more than enough to put a smile on your face. Plus, it gets great mileage, typically ove 30 mpg on the highway, and around 25 city (as long as you don't get too enamored of the go fast pedal). Acceleration is still well into the thrilling category, and when a passing situation arises on the highway, you will go from 70 to 100+ in the blink of an eye. It takes corners in an amazing fashion, and stopping power is mind boggling. Mine has the 3LT trim level and, yes, the desert heat has caused a few "bubbles" in the dash top leather just behind the windshield, but I have found that to be easily repaired using a syringe, adhesive and sandbags for weigth while drying. There are several issues common to the C7 to watch out for. The big ones ar related to the transmission and torque tube. I bought mine from a Chevrolet dealership and it was "certified" by Carbravo (a relatively new GM program) with a 6 month bumper to bumper waranty. I also purchased a 2 year extended Carbravo extended warranty which begins after the initial 6 month warranty. In the first few months of ownership, many of those problems arose, and all were taken care of under warranty (torque tube, flex plate, transmision triple flush, front MRC shocks, and several small items). Since then, it has been dead nuts reliable and a joy to drive.

    Keep in mind the cracking is mostly from people using track mode on the street because of how stiff the suspension is, especially if you have the 2019 magride firmware, they soften up touring in that version as well. In the Z51 they refined the touring and sport modes but it wasn’t a huge change, like in the Z06 and GS

    I don't think you covered the Stingray very well to be honest.
    What makes the Stingray a good car for certain people is the superior cost of ownership and daily drivability. The an Automatic Stingray 3LT is by far the best daily driver sports car you buy next to a Boxster. The LT1 is naturally aspirated which means it is much more fuel efficient. Tires are narrower and cheaper to allocate/replace. The standard brakes, coolant, and oil are much cheaper than a Z51/Grand Sport, and Z06. The aerodynamics makes it a great road trip/highway car. Lastly, 3300 lbs and 450hp on a linear power curve is plenty of go for 95% of drivers. All for the price of a brand new entry level sports car.

    • @maddpullz
      @maddpullz 7 месяцев назад +3

      You’re incorrect on a few things. I’ve owned a c7 z51 and a c7 z06 back to back. Oil, coolant, brakes, battery, etc are all the same costs. Only increased cost is tires. The 3LT is the worst trim to buy as they’re the only trim where the $3k dash is covered in poor leather and adhesive resulting in them bubbling up. Google it. Both cars are bad on gas, I haven’t noticed that difference so it’s mitigated by how folks drive, and they both have the 7th gear but the z has longer gears allowing better mileage, keeping them almost identical on gas use unless you're WOT. The LT1 was a slog compared to even the Coyote engine and hated it. The LS2 in my c6 was faster down the track and sounded better. LT4 has been drastically more fun in the car but entirely excessive too. That part is mixed.

    • @fragoutrambo6381
      @fragoutrambo6381 7 месяцев назад

      @@maddpullz You're obviously biased and wrong on a few things. The LT1 feels like a slog because you are not used to driving engines with linear power curves. You have to redline it to get all the power out. Also, NO- the Z51 and Z06 both use dry sump oil systems and extra radiators/intercoolers. Which means YOU DO buy more coolant and oil. The leather dash is all subjective and clearly a symptom of poor ownership. Also, again, boosted engines ALWAYS take more fuel to power. And when you add a stupid ass wing, that is extra drag which lowers your aerodynamic effeciency. And Please PLEASE do not compare the Corvette to a matchbox muscle car. The 5.0 Coyote is a great motor but its in a shit car thats only good for boost in a straight line. That just tells me all I need to know about your prospective. You're just a mopar toolbag. You dont know what your talking about.

    I like both and will get an auto for better drivability and gear ratios plus I tore up my clutch ankle so I cant drive stick anymore. Im trying to decide between C7 and C8 Z51 or C8 Z06. I love the C7 space for dogs but I love the exotic look of the C8. C8 Z51 with a 2650 or heads cam is dope but the C8 Z06 is on another level. I am concerned with the new law that theyre trying to pass that will allow car manufactures to add software to shut your car down remotely. WTF happened to land of the free? Maybe get the C7Z to prevent this dunno. Maybe some SW engineer like trifecta will come out with work around or a 3rd party ECU system like Fuel Tech.
    The C7 Z51 is good and the SC LT4 is amazing with supporting mods for the cooling. I hate the front plastic wheel well extensions on the 7 Z06, just looks lame. How hard would it be to make wider fenders and drop on. I would most likely get a body shop to fix it. Again the luggage room from the C7 hatch area is amazing and I have 2 medium sized Shiba Inu's that roll with me all the time for hikes. The C7 suspension will need the DSC controller to fix the mag ride but that is simple plug n play.
    C7- No body mods needed unless wider tires added then just get the GS or C7Z. Add SC or heads cam or both. then supporting mods which adds up to C7Z.
    GS- Has widebody and suspension just need power mods. Again heads cam 2650. $40k?
    C7Z- Add coolers, bolt ons and pully to get 800 crank easy. Find body shop or kit for the front fenders.
    C8 Z51- Heads, cam $14k 570-600hp 500-35 tq wheel, or 700hp/ 635tq crank Lingenfelter 2650( $25k) (intake, headers, cats, driveshafts, exhaust =$8.5k) $34.5k aprox then rotors and pads $1-2k
